I always support the small businesses over chains or corporate business and in the past, their pizza has been okay, never great, just okay but high priced with a scarcity of toppings. With that being said, I finally broke down and tried one of their sandwiches, a cheesesteak that is offered only on Mondays and Fridays. A footlong with chips was 12.99 and keep in mind, that I base my cheesesteaks on Jersey Mikes ultimate cheesesteaks and folks, this was no Jersey Mike's cheesesteak. The main ingredient, the steak, was scarce and it was not actual beef, but a combo of fillers and processed soy and I knew this because of the greasiness and texture and it was hard and dry and overcooked.. The cheese was scarce and the onions and bell peppers were not even grilled but raw. The owner needs to understand that he is in competition with every Italian Restaurant, pizza joint and sandwich shop in the area and if he focuses more on his profits and cutting expenses over the quality of his food, he aint long until closure time. Sorry, but if I want a real cheesesteak, Ill go elsewhere. read more

My husband loves the pizza. The service is good. I only give 4stars, because they had a chicken salad sandwich on the lunch menu. I'm very excited, but picky about my chicken salad, I asked for a small sample manager/ owner said No! I didn't buy the sandwich, because I didn't want to waste my money or his wanting something different, because I didn't like it. For Now my husband goes back, but I don't. We have two favorite pizza places, and this is the numero uno spot. Delivery has always been fast and accurate. Been ordering for 3 years now and I don't recall ever having to call back to fix an order. We usually get the chicken Alfredo pie, bbq chicken pie or a classic pepperoni. The Buffalo wings are great but not the hottest- I'd say their a medium in most other places. The in-store vibe is very "1987-ish" which I love. Feels very slow and homey, not neon' out or sports bar sensory overload like other places can get. As far as I can tell, the same faces keep handing me food when I do pick up so I guess turn over is low which would say something good about the work environment. This is a local bistro with takeout and delivery services in Pecan Plantation in Granbury Texas. The service is efficient and all the workers are cordial and polite. The Pizza-Pies are excellent. I particularly like the hand tossed crust with garlic butter. Often, we order the buffalo wings which are always hot and tasty. Sandwiches with mayonnaise and tunafish salads sometimes arrive soggy. I am grateful to live so close to this excellent Bistro. read more

The Village Bistro is very convenient to Pecan Plantation and has good food, but I find their system for ordering sub sandwiches terrible. They have their system set up to order their cookie cutter sandwich including toasting it. If you want your sandwich in a particular way, they seem to be put out because they have to de-build your sandwich to make it they way you like including telling them to not toast it and they never asked me, they assume everyone wants their sandwich toasted. I tried to give them feedback on their system, they took great exception to what I told them (I was hushed, polite but to the point with no profanity). They didn't want to hear my feedback and instead told me not to comeback. I also had already given them a 15% tip for this togo order. So, if you go there beware they will not tolerate any constructive feedback. read more

In a world that craves convenience over quality, and in a city known for BBQ and steaks, and not high quality pizza (unless, of course, you count Domino's and Pizza Hut), it's easy to overlook some of the gems that are hidden around town. The Village Bistro is one such center of pizza awesomeness. Located in Pecan, in the same spot as the all-too-often-disastrous and thankfully-now-defunct "Brick Oven", the Bistro is a quirky little neighborhood "dive" with Tuscan murals on the walls, checkered table cloths on the tables, a young, knowledgeable staff and a wide array of downright terrific pies. Whether you go for a classic pepperoni or the everything but the kitchen sink "Village Idiot", it's hard to go wrong with one of their pizzas. The ingredients are fresh, the toppings plentiful and the baking absolutely perfect. But if you find yourself in the mood for something other than one of these heavenly pies, fear not, for the Bistro also offers hearty calzones and overflowing subs and salads. I've tried all three, and although my wife and I always go for the Village Idiot with the garlic butter crust (a must), I have to admit I've yet to order something that wasn't flat out good. If you're a Pecan resident, as an added bonus, the Bistro also offers right to your front door delivery service (as opposed to having to meet the Domino's driver at the front gate to engage in some sort of clandestine pizza-for-cash exchange). In my opinion, the only thing keeping me from giving VB 5 stars are the hours. Closing at 8 during the week (9 during the summer) and 9 on the weekends is a bit early for me. Granted, the streets of Pecan tend to roll up at night earlier than most places, but even closing at 10 one night a week would satisfy a lot of late night weekend cravings. read more

The bistro is good, but I would love to see them make it better. Expand the menu, get more creative. The worst part for me is they have this awesome brick oven....love it if they'd crank that thing up and make some real pizza! Gotta be a good reason they don't use it I guess. Another review said they need longer hours...completely agree. They don't offer their specials if they have to deliver it, plus they charge a delivery fee...pretty weak. But overall, it beats having to drive to town when you're not in the mood. read more

Most unbelievable thing that has ever happened to me in a restaurant happened at the Village Bistro. After we ordered our pizzas and drinks, my wife and father in-law asked for a to go cup because they don't like drinking from restaurant plastic cups. My wife got bacterial meningitis in college and almost died from it so she absolutely refuses to eat and drink from restaurant cups and utensils. When we asked for to go cups, they refused to give them to us. The said it was company policy. The older woman slammed her fist down at my father in-law and said that he was being rude. The funny thing is, they gave my kids to-go cups and said we could get them when we were leaving. I mean what's the difference if I get them now or later? I asked to woman " so you are forcing me to drink from this plastic cup and she replied yes" The absolute dumbest policy I've ever heard of. It costs more to wash and clean plastic cups then it does to give a styrofoam cups to customers. So to sum it up, this family owned bistro that gets 90% of its customers from Pecan Plantation, just lost all of our business and future business for the sake of 2 styrofoam cups that cost .02 cents. That's a real bad business model. I might add that we ate are pizza off of styrofoam plates and ate with plastic forks. Ridiculous!!!!!! read more

This is a wonderful restaurant. VERY clean. Pleasant staff. And wonderful pizzas and sandwiches. The soups and the desserts are cooked from scratch and they are GOOOOD! Our favorite is The Village Idiot Pizza. I agree with one review and I wish the hours were longer, but it's probably better to not eat so late. I don't care if they don't expand the menu. I believe in doing a few things well rather than spreading yourself so thin with a lot of offerings that your quality suffers. The prices are great for such good food. For all of us with children and grandchildren, this place is a life-saver. We give the Village Bistro five stars! read more
