I wish i could give these girls 100 stars. I went to so many bridal shops and tried on hundreds of dresses and i had hands down the best experience at Village Bridal. Their prices were reasonable. My best friend recommended them to me because she also was having trouble finding "the dress" until she came to village bridal. I'm so happy i listened to her! What i really appreciated is that they let you pull dresses yourself and look through the racks. Sabrina was the one to originally help me, she didn't restrict me time wise, she was in the fitting room with me helping me put the dresses on and taking them off. I am a plus size bride so it was difficult to find places with dresses i could fit into and they made me feel so comfortable. I had a few appointments at other stores after i visited Village bridal and i couldn't help but compare the experiences i had at those store to the experience i had at village. At other stores i felt like if you didn't find your dress right away, they got impatient but it's such a hard decision. At Village Bridal they made me and my mom feel like they were our life long friends. My mom also found her dress there. They were not pushy or uptight. Once we started the alteration process we met some of the other Staff like Fran and Ally. They were also amazing and also made us feel like life long friends. They went above and beyond to make sure we were happy with our dresses. When i picked up my dress the week of my wedding it was bittersweet because i knew i wouldn't be seeing them anymore. I visited this boutique about 2 weeks ago. I was initially very anxious about it based on reviews I'd seen on Yelp, but my experience overall was lovely. I worked with Julita, and she provided such a great experience to me and my mom. I told her that it was my first time trying on dresses and I was a bit nervous, but she really took care of me. She encouraged me to try on different silhouettes and styles, even though they were not what I had originally envisioned - I'm glad she did, because I ended up hating everything I had picked out to try on beforehand (lol), and finding something I liked much better. By the end of the appointment, I had found two dresses I really liked, but I wasn't sure if either was "the one." Julita was so sweet and told me to give it a few weeks, think it over, and come back if I wanted. I love that she didn't pressure me to make a decision and buy something that day that I didn't love. Even though I didn't end up purchasing a dress here, Julita helped set the bar for what a great bridal appointment should look like, and I can't recommend her enough! My only negative would be that a few dresses I had picked out on their website were not actually available in-store. If there is a specific style you want to try on, I would call ahead and see if they have it in-store; don't just check the website as I did. In terms of Covid, when we entered the store not all bridal consultants were wearing a mask, but they did put them on right away when asked. read more

I had a TERRIBLE experience at Village Bridal. The woman working the front desk was snobby, rude, and extremely unhelpful. First, when I told her my budget she replied "you won't find any dresses here that are that cheap." Next, I told her that I'd prefer to not have a train on my dress. She interrupted my sentence, shook her head rudely, and said "not a dress in this store comes without a train." I tried to explain my preferences while also telling her I was open to trying on anything - she clearly wasn't listening. Finally (and mostly importantly), my mom suggested we look at the "off the rack" dresses to see if I could find anything I liked there. I picked up a dress from that rack and said "this one is pretty!" The woman said "well first of all.. you have to fit into these dresses... and that one is a two." SHE THEN LOOKED ME UP & DOWN AND SAID "and you are NOT a two." I WILL NEVER, EVER STEP FOOT BACK IN VILLAGE BIRDAL EVER AGAIN. This was an absolutely horrible experience. The closest place I could get my dream dress was five hours from my home in Babylon, and I needed a place to help me with alterations. Well, Village Bridal came in the clutch! They worked on my dress with such precision and care. Effy was amazing! She was kind and patient when I had questions about or desires for my alterations. Village Bridal should be ashamed of themselves! I was recently in a wedding. A little over a year and a half ago and the bride (my cousin) found our dresses here. First of all... they made me order a size up and another girl not to order up. Needless to say I needed the other girl's dress and she needed mine. The girls in the front were pretty rude and some even had attitudes. They seem to like nit picking when it should be a nice experience. When I first tried on the dress I commented how large it was and was told it could be fixed. They gave me said size because the other size was stretched out. Oh okay but that one fit me almost perfectly. Whatever. I called and told them I'd like to come get it fixed extra early in case it was a problem. I was told they have a professional seamstress and she's used to this sort of thing so no problem. The bust had ruching in it and overall the dress needed to be taken in. Hell it needed to be fixed very much so since the dress was a size larger than it should've been. I was then told by the lovely snot (sorry this girl just totally rubbed me the wrong way) that I had definitely lost some weight since my measurements. No sweetheart I maintained... you're the one who took my measurements and I told you what size I wanted and you told me NO! As I waited for my dress to be fixed it was Thanksgiving Eve they were scrambling because the wedding was the following weekend. Miss. Lovely kept asking me if I'd like to just come back and pick up the dress when it's ready. I kept telling her "no I am waiting for it and I am not coming back. I am taking the dress home tonight." The dress was going to my Aunt's to be out of the bag and ready to go for the wedding. When I tell you this girl huffed and puffed and stomped around like a little baby I was not in the least bit impressed. Conduct yourself like a young lady and not some snotty b*tch and complain how to your co-workers how you just wanna go home and go out and not have to deal with this crap! I heard you loud and clear. Literally she'd walk away from me and say stuff like "OMG I JUST WANNA GO HOME THIS IS RIDICULOUS!" or "REALLY? This is so not fair!" When my dress was finally fixed to actually fit me and not falling off of me I was relieved. It took well over 2 hours of waiting but that's not my fault. As I was leaving I said "I knew I needed to come earlier than this." When it comes time for my wedding or another wedding party I am in. I went to village bridal today to look For my bridal gown and it was just okay. The girls at the front were not the friendliest and my attendant, although I'm sure she meant well, was a little pushy. She kept pushing me to tell her exactly what I want, but being that I've loved so many different styles I've tried on, it was hard to narrow it down to just one type of dress. She didn't really like that I wanted to try different styles, I think she wanted me to be more specific. When you arrive they let you look through the gowns and pick out what you like, be aware they keep all the less expensive ones in the back so the attendant will need to pull for you if you have a lower budget (mine was under 3,000) most of the gowns in the front were 4-7 thousand. The good thing about the store was they did have a very large selection of beautiful gowns. They also were willing to give a deal or throw in a headpiece if I purchased that day, but I didn't. My biggest disappointment was when I left the store I went to a bridal shop in bayshore and found the gown I loved for 200$ cheaper! If I choose that dress I will definitely get it from the bayshore store, they were much nicer and the price is better ! read more

I DO like Village Bridal since I found my wedding gown there but I wasn't crazy about the customer service. My consultant was lovely but many of other women working had attitudes and clearly did not want to be there. They will definitely keep business away by allowing employees to act that way. Regardless, I am so excited to have find my dress there and hope I don't run into issues when it comes to alterations time! EDIT: I have now had my alterations there and was very impressed. They did an excellent job. The hours for doing alterations are a bit difficult for me living in the city since they don't allow any appointments on the weekend but we managed to make it work. read more

The bride of a wedding I'm in got her wedding dress here, and as a result had her bridesmaids get dresses here. The experience was fine - they had a big selection of dresses to try on, allowed us ample time to find and try on dresses, and weren't pushy. And then we got to measuring. I am a curvy lady but am getting married myself and know my dress size. After measuring me they insisted I needed to order two sizes above my normal size. When I told them absolutely not, they told me they could size down one but not any further. I then had to sign a paper to acknowledge that I had gone against their recommendation and requested a smaller size (which makes sense, so I'm not mad about that paper). Dress comes in - a whole size too big! As anticipated when I tried to tell them my actual size. Now I have to pay for the dress to be taken in, the straps to be altered, etc. My seamstress even said, "They did this just to try and make money off of you during alterations." read more

I was going to look in this shop for dresses after having a great shopping experience for one of my good friend's bridesmaid's dresses for her wedding. That all changed once it came to alterations. I called to make an appointment in January because our dresses came in during the holidays. Unfortunately, the woman who answered was extremely rude, said I didnt leave myself alot of time in case anything was wrong. She then told me they only have appointments Monday, Wednesday, & Friday anytime before 4. When I tried to get another time because I do work, she said "well you might have to come on your lunch, it will take 10 minutes". I was shocked. I did go in on my lunch, what else could I do? They were 15 minutes late for the appointment and when I said I had to get back to my office I was met with "we're sorry". I also knew the alterations cap was $125. A cap usually means they won't exceed that, or atleast has been my experience in past weddings. They took the top of my dress in 2 inches and the woman told me it would be $125. I asked if it was no matter what because that was the cap and explained what I understood that meant. She said "yeah thats the cap. Thats what we charge". I was so shocked at how she spoke to me and dismissed me. I never felt so upset after an alterations experience. The store has beautiful dresses, but after this experience over the phone and with alterations I will unfortunately not be looking for my dream dress here. read more

I was extremely disappointed with our experience with village bridal. I grew up in North Babylon but currently live out of state. I had bridesmaids spread throughout the country but we decided to order the dresses from village bridal because 3 of the girls lived close by. From our very first experience, picking out dresses, our attendant was distant and not very helpful. She did not even help us hang the dresses back up or zip them up or anything. We ordered 7 gowns the last week of January, we were told the dresses would take 12 weeks to come in. So in mid-May when the gowns were not in I called to inquire and was told that they had not even shipped yet. I was met by pushback and rudeness when I asked when they were due in. The women at the front desk were cold, rude, and I felt as if I was annoying them. It was excuse after excuse, including "China shuts down for the entire month of February". Finally the manager, Lisa, got involved. She was great to deal with actually, made sure to always call me back and was very helpful. Our gowns finally came in at the end of July! When my local girls went for their fitting, 2 of them had issues. My MOH's dress did not fit at all, not just a little tight, like would not zip at all. They would not let her see the order form and they basically told her they had nothing to offer her. I am convinced that they ordered the wrong size. They wound up switching her gown to a different one they had in stock and then altering it so it would be different than another bridesmaids gown (all 7 girls were different). All 3 of them said that the staff was very rude during their fittings as well. Overall, the bridal industry is a business of customer service and Village Bridal clearly takes no pride in their customer service. The staff always seemed to be bothered by any question or request. I am recently engaged and have no idea where to start with shopping, picking out dresses, making appointments etc. I went in on a Saturday afternoon to just look around. I walked in an the lady at the front desk was so rude and unhelpful. I walk in and asked how the shopping, trying on, apts, etc work. Immediately the lady at the desk looked at me and said "do you have an appointment?" In a rude tone. I kindly said back I just wanted to browse and wanted to know how this works. I came here as a bridesmaid, and purchasing my gown went smoothly. When I came back for my first dress fitting, the attendants were not the nicest and seemed a little cold. I had to wait 45 minutes to see the seamstress because of another scheduling issue. While waiting, not one woman offered me even a smile. As I sit there, I watched one attendant help a young girl on her first dress fitting. She seemed pushy, and again cold. When I begin my search for a wedding dress, I have to admit that I won't go back to this store because I would want someone who's a little more warm and fuzzy. This store has the best selection of dresses on Long Island. With that said, they know they are good and act as such. You will never receive a call that your dresses arrived or for any reason they are supposed to call you for, you must keep up on them. Their staff is borderline rude depending on who you are lucky or unlucky enough to work with. The worst is they are extremely unorganized. They loose or misplace everything. When I ordered my dress it was supposed to be white and silver, I received it white and ivory. They refused to fix the issue and tried to convince me that it was ordered correctly. I live in Texas because my fiance is in the military so I was flying in for my fittings and they weren't even prepared even though I had made my appointments more then well in advanced and followed up to confirm as well. I really couldn't wait and fight the color so I was forced to accept their mistake. I could show you pictures and I know you'll agree with me. Needless to say my dress was not the one I had been dreaming about and that is the worst disappointment when you are so excited to look how you picture yourself to look on the most important day of your life. Even worse when I went for my fitting I was sitting there waiting to be helped and no one came over to introduce themselves or help me into my dress at all. The ladies were just talking at the front by the desk. Finally I asked them and they said oh yea we're waiting on you. OK so I got dressed by myself, put my shoes on, zippered the back and everything. They saw me ready standing on the little stand and they continued gossiping at the front while I stood there for 15 minutes. I entered Village Bridal in March with a strict budget. Carol found me a great dress, off the rack, the exact amount of my total budget. I wanted an off-the-shoulder dress and she told me the seamstress could add them no problem! I was very clear to her that I could not be spending a lot of money on alterations, and since the dress needed to be taken in a lot, this was a big concern before purchasing. She affirmed that the alterations had a cap of $295, and I asked her again to be clear "the most I will be spending on everything including the added sleeves and ALL alterations will be $295" and she said yes! I was so excited to have a beautiful dress within my budget. Months go by and I had my first fitting October. When asking about the sleeves, they said I had to pay for the fabric, which would be hundreds from Pronovias. I was shocked because I thought the sleeves were already budgeted into my total price. They order the fabric, and when I go to the seamstress to get them added, she tells me that my dress is too low in the back to add sleeves! I had to laugh because I thought it must be a joke. Again, I stressed I only bought the dress to be off-the-shoulder, so she added the sleeves but told me I won't be able to move my arms/dance. Since I already purchased the dress, this is what had to be done, and she was right I can't move my arms. Close to $600 later in alterations, my dress is complete. OVER DOUBLE the amount originally stated, DOUBLE my budget and you could say not exactly my expectations. *The seamstress is very talented and nice, but was not informed. Additionally, the women working at the front desk are very rude and not welcoming. Just letting future brides know. read more

When we got there we were told they had a walk in that they gave our fitting rooms to (smaller group had 4 fitting rooms) and they stuffed US in the back to 1 fitting room we had to share and no dedicated help. We had to look on our own. Worst bridal salon we have gone to. Owner needs to fix this. Not professional at all. We were treated poorly. I recommend going elsewhere. TERRIBLE BUSINESS. 2 of my bridesmaids ordered there dresses in July...gave half as a down payment. We were told that the dresses should be in by October/early November. I get a call in October stating that I have to pick a new color of lace on my dresses because the designer discontinued the color...CLEARLY they did not order the dresses when my girls paid the down payment in JULY! I had to cancel the dresses. They tried to blame it on one of my bridesmaids ordering a month later...so if that was the case they should have known this in AUGUST and they should NOT have taken my girls deposits. Very unfortunate, they have beautiful gowns but because we got slight attitude from the girl who was helping us, who became worse towards the end. I had an appointment this past Saturday, and I do not have one positive comment to make. From start to finish I was made uncomfortable, and this is NO way for a future bride to feel. Let me begin by mentioning my consultant was Lois. Lois- has so very much to learn about respect, manners, and might I add- common decency. After advising Lois of what my budget was, appx 2k- I was immediately looked down upon, perhaps the commission wasn't high enough for her to make an effort. Let me be clear when I say, if a bride gives you a budget, it is not necessarily what she can afford, perhaps where she wants to stay within, and she should not be neglected because of that. I made Lois VERY aware of what my style was. I gave her a detailed description of what I was looking for which included "Chantilly lace, or a matte satin bodice, very little or no bling, a dramatic trumpet or mermaid style, sweetheart cut, strapless or thin straps if the back is low" dress. As if that wasn't detailed enough, i followed up with several photos. Her response to my photos of each dress was " That's not 2k, neither is that, no way is that 2k". First off, I argued with her several times as this was not my first appointment, and i knew exactly how much the dresses were. If in fact, Village Bridal does not have the same prices as Wedding Atelier in Manhattan, then it is safe to say they are a rip off, or even more safe to say, Lois is not knowledgeable. Either way- off to a terrible start. After picking out two dresses, no help from Lois mind you, she pushed me into a fitting room. I asked her several times for dresses that looked like the photos I was showing her, and she kept ignoring me. Please be honest with me, if your boutique does not carry what I am interested in. It's better not to waste any of our times. I tried on a Pronovias dress that was in fact, beautiful. Mind you, when I picked this dress out Lois' first response was - that's 3k, and was hesitant giving it to me. As soon as I put it on, she tells me " im done with you, this is your dress..." at first i laughed because she couldn't possibly be serious. After saying it three times, I said eh, I am not so sure. I stood in the mirror, trying to remain calm even though i was so flustered and aggravated by her. She kept asking what i thought about the dress, i explained i loved the bottom, but something was missing on the top. She became angry, and kept saying," well, if you would tell me what you are actually looking for, i could help you." Lois- what are you missing? If you couldn't tell from my descriptions or photos what EXACTLY i was looking for, than you shouldn't be a bridal consultant, and shame on Village Bridal for employing such a character. Brides beware: do NOT get any of your dresses here! They ordered all of the bridesmaids dresses in the wrong color and would not own up to it or do anything about it. Since they were two months late on getting us the dresses (they said 3 months, but they came in 5 months) we had no time to order new ones since the wedding is 40 days away. I really have a problem with business who don't care about customer satisfaction or service, and this place is one of them. I would never recommend this place. Oh, and lastly, one of the dresses had lipstick on it!! They said the dress came in that way, so it must've happened at the manufacturer. Maybe they should work with better manufacturers, because that is simply unacceptable. read more

I got my wedding dress at Village Bridal after having gone to numerous bridal shops from one-of-kind couture shops to Priscilla of Boston. Village Bridal was professional and fun. It is a small shop but packed full of dresses of all price ranges. I tried on ALOT of dresses and they did not complain (unlike some other shops I went to) and then when I narrowed it down to 5, they let me try them on all over again and gave me honest feedback on all of them. I ended up still undecided and came back a week later to make my final decision and actually picked one that was reasonably priced (around $700). They have been great since the order and answer all my random bride questions that they must hear a million times. read more

Don't try on dresses here if you are looking for someone to help you. The first woman helped me and was very sweet - the second woman was a nasty B***H and I basically pulled my own dresses. She obviously had 0 interest in wanting to help me find a wedding gown. My Mom and MOH and I walked out in disgust. Thanks for loosing our business read more

I wish there were many positive things to say about Village Bridal but unfortunately there isn't much. I am a person who likes to consider pros and cons without trying to be "overly emotional" but this place doesn't do a very good job on leaving a positive lasting impression. I arrived for my appointment about 25minutes early and was well prepared to sit and wait until my consultant was ready. When I walked in, I greeted the entire front desk staff with a friendly "good morning", and all I received in return were dirty looks....awkward...Ok so I introduce myself, and say I will be more than happy to wait and fill out the registration form until my consultant was ready. Again, no one says a word. Literally, not one word! It was like I was in the Twilight Zone and everyone was under a trance and couldn't speak. Strike 1 My consultant pops up, greets me (nicely) and says "ok show me the pictures you brought". Oh I said, I didn't bring any but I can describe exactly what I want. That's when it starts going downhill and she states "how do you come to a bridal appointment without any pictures"?! in her most condescending and loudest voice possible. Wow, way to make me feel 1" tall. Strike 2 At this point I am severely annoyed and uncomfortable but they had a large selection of dresses and I was eager to finally begin trying on. The consultant tells me to look around and disappears. I begin to do just that and am looking through the rows of dresses when suddenly she reappears and says "ok lets get started I pulled about 5 dresses for you"...so I say "well I didn't get to pick any yet" to which she replies "it's ok, I'm sure your dress is already in your room." Geez, how is it that this woman who just met me knows my style better than I do in merely 10 minutes?! Also, she never asked my budget so what the heck is she even talkign about?!?!?! Strike 3 They don't help you into the dresses here, they will only zip you and put clips on. The fitting rooms are smaller than a closet and when I came out in the first dress I was stared at by everyone at the front desk who again, must have lost their voice that day and just stared without saying not one positive comment, or ANY comment to be exact. It was AWKWARD AS HECK! Needless to say, I decided this place has enough strikes and I couldn't care less if my dream dress was floating around one of those racks I did not want to remain there any longer. I simply put my clothes back on and walked out without saying a word. I mean, if they could do it to me, I could simply leave and not hurt their feelings right?! This "salon" leaves MUCH to be desired. The only positive I can say is that the selection of dresses seem to be very good, but I cannot confirm this as I did not have a chance to browse on my own. I cannot imagine buying a dress here and then having to deal with the snobby staff for my entire bridal gown and bridesmaid purchases. Planning a wedding is stressful enough without anyone's negative attitudes. Please, take your time in finding a salon and go to a place where you feel absolutely appreciated and welcomed. I plan to take my $3,000 budget somewhere that will take care of me rather than making me feel extremely uncomfortable. Thanks for nothing Village Bridal! read more
