Ugh I wish I came here to eat breakfast while stopping by for the beach , the lady was SO SWEET ! I just needed a coffee for pick me up and a sweet treat she recommended their banana bread , OMG SO GOOD !! We stopped by for breakfast twice during our time in Pacific City and really enjoyed it! As others have mentioned, it's a small place with home cooking, but it's absolutely worth it. The folks working were so nice and we could tell we were dining amongst regulars. We enjoyed everything we tried - eggs, bacon, hash browns, toast, coffee, waffle, and a hot cinnamon roll. We came here this morning for the first time. I had the Chuck which is a biscuit and gravy with 2 eggs. The eggs were good I could only eat a few bites of the biscuit and gravy. Hubby had the giant County fried steak. It was big for sure, but he said it was just okay. Probably won't come back next time we are here. This is clearly the place to go for breakfast. You soon discover it's filled with locals, but if you smile, you'll be an insider quickly. Regular customers have their own personalized coffee mugs. The service is down home friendly. The food is down home yummy. Anything from biscuits and gravy to French toast to eggs anyway you want. For sure you'll want to pickup a shirt or a coffee mug. We were looking for a good breakfast spot in Pacific City and this place had pretty good reviews. All in all, it was definitely tasty but kind of a weird atmosphere. It is setup almost like someones dining room. It's a very homey atmosphere and the hot food (as well as the wide variety baked goods were all delicious). We split a raspberry Danish to start and then I got Spinach, Bacon, and Cheese omelet with breakfast potatoes and a biscuit. My girlfriend got scrambled eggs and Canadian bacon. Everything was really good. The omelet was perfectly fluffy and the biscuit came with great whipped butter. I would definitely recommend getting that as your "bread". Village COFFEE shoppe loses points for subpar coffee. It was very watered down and I ended up getting coffee from the gas station across the street. PRO TIP: THEY ONLY TAKE CASH. And there is no ATM. Be sure to stop somewhere to get cash first. No Venmo or PayPal either. All in all, this was a good breakfast and I liked that we were eating amongst locals as opposed to the yuppies on vacation. Breakfast was delicious at this spot definitely do not regret stopping here. We ordered their Denver omelette , a side order of bacon , cinnamon and raisin toast, and coffee. Every single bite was just so good the omelette was nice and moist and it had flavor, the bacon was good too and portion size was great. The place does busy really fast . We were actually really lucky and got their at a good time to catch a table . The lady working there was really friendly and lovely. The sign said best fish and chips in town so I decided to give them a try for lunch. They were fresh out of the freezer and into to grease. The center of the the triangle shaped processed chunk of fish was still. Not only were these fish pieces nothing special they were barely palatable I also ordered a bowl of clam chowder seeing as how I was on the coast. They microwaved the bland soup before serving it to me. I really wish I would have picked a different place to stop for lunch. read more

Wow! Yelp nails it again! This place is the real deal...we had a blast seeing the locals and tourists interact, and the food was AMAZING! My husband chose the small (as opposed to giant) chicken fried steak and eggs....he said it was the best chicken fried steak he's ever had, and he's had a lot. And my Boo Berry Pancakes were HUGE and chock full of plump, tasty blueberries. When two young men sat at the only table left--a table for five--the wonderful waitress helped them figure out that their meal selections would add up to $19.90. "Perfect! We have $20." Then an elderly gentleman, obviously a regular, stepped inside the small dining room. The kind waitress suggested he join the two young men at their table. Everyone agreed that would work. After devouring their meal and chatting a bit, the boys went to pay. "Thank you and keep the change!" I think the whole restaurant chuckled in unison. A few minutes later, a young dad came in to say thanks and to leave a tip. "My son said he left you a dime as a tip...sorry about that!" I really wanted to give this quaint shop all 5 stars, but there were enough missed opportunities to earn only 4. They have some great baked goods here! But this place is tiny! I think there are 6 tables inside-all close together, and a couple tables on their patio. One server covers all, and serves as the barista. So service is not speedy. The menu is pretty extensive. I love the page with the customer's favorites orders. I had the Art, an English muffin- 1/2 with sausage, egg and cheese. The other half with ham, egg and cheese. Plus hash browns. Very filling. My husband ordered the chicken fried steak, and was very disappointed. He asked for the gravy on the side. I saw them put the gravy on the steak, realize their mistake, scrape it off, turn it over then put a bowl of gravy on the side. He just did not care for the breading or the gravy. And even asking for extra crispy hash browns, they missed that mark. What drove me crazy was that there is only one restroom and at one point the line was extending between the dining tables. Got up and at them early to make sure I did not have to wait forever.. from reading reviews I did not want to miss out on this place!! Well we still had to wait like a whole 7 mints. And it was totally worth the wait!! They have coffee and porch with chairs to hangout on while you wait. Ok now t let's get to the story!! The service was great she came and got us and sat us and got our drinks started. We ordered our food I went with the chicken fried steak(normal size) it was superb!!! I eat it all with eggs and hash browns!! I was stuffed.. so unless you are a really big eater l am talking like two breakfast kinda guy you may want to stick with the normal. Here is the best part of family breakfast at this place the have a mickey and mini mouse pancake maker!! Nope not 3 circles connected I mean a press kinda like a waffle!! The kids were blown away!!! I've been coming here for breakfast for 9 years every time I come out to Pacific City (a couple times every year), and its still the best place for breakfast in town!!! If you're looking for a delicious home cooked meal this is definitely the place. Everything is delicious, but my favorites are their hash browns, their bacon, their eggs, their German sausage, and their biscuits and gravy. They're known for their GIANT chicken fried steak and just all around great home cooked food. Be aware: they only have 6 small tables (it's inside a little house) and only take CASH. If you want to eat here I would recommend arriving before 9am or after 11am. Don't come here expecting a fancy experience, speedy service, or organic food. Come here if you want great food, pleasant service, and a homey feel. This is a locals spot, and it's an extra touch of that village feel to hear locals greet each other and overhear their chats. The place is tiny so everyone is part of everyone's conversations. I'll keep coming back here every time I go to Pacific City! read more
