We've eaten here several times, and Hawk Creek is one of my favorite restaurants. We especially like the outdoor seating area. It's covered, and surrounded by a fabric/plastic wall, with a heating system to keep it nice and warm. Food is generally delicious. In particular, the clam chowder is the best I've ever had. It's nice and thick, with tons of clams and very few potatoes. Staff is very friendly and helpful. In the past, we had fish tacos, and loved them. Today, however, someone messed them up. The fish was over-seasoned and loaded with too much hot sauce. I ate about half of one taco and couldn't eat the second one. This was surprising because we've had the tacos before and they were delicious. Today I'm guessing they had a different cook working in the kitchen. I'm still giving Hawk Creek 5 stars. Okay but not great I would have ranked it lower but remember this is at the beach. Everything is more expensive at the beach. Lunch for three adults and one child came to $71 before tip. Oy. The food was mediocre, no one raved about anything. Burger was dull, hummus plate was dull. Waitstaff was dull. The dining room was cool (temperature) but they had just opened. Have been coming to this restaurant on and off for over 30 yrs. New ownership is doing a great job. Food is always super tasty, service usually really Great (love Caitlin and Crystal is great too). Pizzas are AMAZING and love the honey option! So good on pizza! Great wine selection and craft cocktails!! And, the view is phenomenal. A great little lunch spot to refuel after running around the beach nearby - with excellent comfort food, inviting atmosphere, friendly staff, and great views of the little creek that runs across the beach and out into the pacific. After wading around in the chilly waters along the Pacific shoreline, the grilled cheese and tomato basil soup was just the warm-up comfort food I needed and it was DELISH!! The sandwich is made with Tillamook cheese from the nearby creamery - which is my absolute fave cheese of all time! And the soup was savory and delightful - so cozy! I couldn't resist starting with the spinach artichoke dip though and I was not disappointed! It's a hearty version of the app and comes with these perfectly toasted breads - flawless! This is one of the only food options in the part of Neskowin right by the state beach so it's a little more pricey but the quality is there. Plus it's extremely convenient, very cozy and the staff are lovely. Super friendly service a real wait staff talking about specials letting you know what this rocking and special for the day. A small little spot next to the trail to Neskowin beach access trial. It's a place probably growing out of its surroundings but a piece of the community. Laid back constantly flowing in and out. I remembered to take pictures this time. I wish there was a flavor option for taking pictures. The soup as a starter is above average for clam chowder. We were told they were just finishing the next batch and we were willing to wait. Just creamy and beyond the normal flavor of just potato soup with some clams I highly recommend the fish tacos. Cajun not overwhelming but enough to give flavor profiles you may have never experienced. Combined with pickled onions Cole slaw in their own chipotle like sauce and salsa. They also come with chips they make from scratch. The initial thought was only two? The last thought was I only needed two. I don't know what some recent negative reviews are really about. Our experience last night was very, very good. We ordered a veggie pizza which was served after it's required cooking. The server was fun....and showed us a "trick" of putting honey around the edge on the crust m....delicious! Place was packed at 7:30. Go see for yourself whether they're maintaining their reputation. What a sad slide... My family has had a house in Neskowin for 35-years, and we've been dining here as long as they've been open with great pleasure. Today, not so much. Arrived mid-week, mid-afternoon, and while the resturant wasn't busy, it took almost 40-minutes to get our meal. Unsure if it was the cook, or the server, but 40-minutes for a couple of burgers is totally unacceptable; WTF? I miss Hawk Creek Cafe of the early 2000's like 2001. It's just not the same anymore. Yeah this inside is a bit bigger. They expanded the outside. It's pretty cute. But I came here for food after a day at the beach. I got the cheesesteak expecting a nice hearty sandwich. Instead I had a tiny sandwich that was bland. I had to add salt to it. Just to give it some flavor. And I left hungry. 22 dollars. I've had egg rolls bigger than this sandwich. I'm sorry hawk creek cafe for this review but that's what this app is about. Honest reviews. I'm afraid to try the pizza as it may have gone down hill too. To be honest neskowin is a beautiful quaint community. This restaurant has gone down hill. Yes, they are short staffed and the food does take awhile but it's understandable. Our food took about an hour to come out. The pizza here is absolutely incredible. It's cooked perfectly, soft, and soooo good. We had a pepperoni pizza alongside a Caesar salad and fettuccine Alfredo with shrimp. The salad was a good option to start with. I enjoyed it. The Alfredo on the other hand came only with three shrimps, was a little bit warm, and the flavor was just not good. I took maybe five bites, ate the shrimp, then shared the pizza with my husband. I'm glad he had that so I could actually eat lunch. The pasta was not a good choice. Only get the pizza! read more

Great spot near the beach. Burgers were very small for the price, like McDonald's size burgers. The fries were super crunchy and tasty. Large portion of Mac and cheese - they used mozzarella or monterey Jack which made it too "stringy" for my taste. If you don't like garlic don't order it. I live part time in Neskowin so I have had many great dinner meals here, close by, great ambiance, clean with friendly staff. Food is usually exceptional. They are now doing breakfast so I thought I would give it a shot and went for the Salmon Benedict. I was pretty disappointed in this choice, the food was mostly cold and I was told by the waiter the cook said that is because it was smoked salmon, but the eggs and hash browns were cold too. Hollandaise sauce was watery and overall I should have stayed home for breakfast. I have had Salmon Benedict before at other restaurants and never has it been served cold. If this is how they plan on doing this dish I recommend they just take it off the menu. I probably should have sent it back but that is something I don't like to do. I brought a couple friends here as we were in the area from Portland. I'd been there once before, a few years prior and remembered it being great. It was only BETTER this time and we had an awesome server who made sure my meal would come out just right. I asked if the Miso salmon could be dairy free and cooked a certain way and she double checked with the kitchen and made sure my meal was perfect. It was fantastic! There are precisely two places to get food in Neskowin - the trading post, which is part grocery store and part coffee shop, and the Cafe, which is a sit down place. It doesn't need to do much to be popular - a place to sit, good food and drinks, and friendly staff. Firstly, the place to sit - it's got an indoor part and an outdoor part - the outdoor part is dog friendly. The indoor part features art from the nearby art gallery. We didn't have to wait for a seat at any point. The staff? Super friendly, but it can be slow. The food and drink - that's a mixed bag. We went there three consecutive nights. There are 12 taps to cover drinks, including a cider on tap that is nice. I also liked the honey kolsch that was on top. For food, they need help. We started with Brussels sprouts on the first night - this is a highlight, and well recommended. The fish and chips we had for main course were average. I'm pretty sure the oil is not hot enough. The chips were limp, and the fish (which has a breadcrumb shell, not the normal batter dip) was oily. On the second night, we decided on onion rings to start - again, low oil temperature meant they were greasy. We followed with a pizza - the oven was definitely not hot enough, which cause the crust to be limp, although the taste was nice. On the final night, I decided on a burger - the Neskowin Fire Burger, which is meant to be a spicy burger and came with fries. They didn't ask how it should be cooked, but there was a little pink in the middle of the burger. It wasn't really spicy, though, so it missed the mark for me. Would I go back? Yes, because it's the only place in town. However, it's really not a go-to place in any other town. read more

We were staying just up the road for a few days, so we decided to give Hawk a try for some pizza last night. We ordered 2 larges for the 5 of us, plenty with leftovers. The large pepperoni and pineapple: crust and pepp cooked well with good flavored sauce (although a bit sweeter sauce than most). Our only complaint was that the pineapple didn't seem to be cooked as well as the rest of the pizza, added a bit after maybe? The large deluxe: lots of toppings, nice flavor...but the bottom of the crust seemed a tad undercooked and doughy in spots, yet slightly charred in others. Not real sure what happened there. We also ordered a side salad, it was a special order and was good, very fresh lettuce and loads of Parmesan cheese (they included the wrong dressing, but it was still tasty). Anyway on this occasion we were driving back to Depoe Bay the day after Thanksgiving from a disc golf road trip to a new course in Tillamook. We stopped here for a late afternoon lunch. This place is known for it's pizza but I had just had pizza the day before so I ordered the fish and chips even though the menu made no claim the cod was local or fresh caught. Since I live on the coast and have had excellent to average fish & chips, I figured how bad could it be. Well It was possibly the worst fried fish I have ever had. The two fish filets were dry, thin and flat and left a fishy after taste in my mouth, but since I was really hungry I ate a small part of each filet. To be fair the French fries and Cole slaw were very good and the waiter was awesome. My friend also ordered the fish and chips and agreed with me about how bad the fish was. Often the only restaurant in town is subpar, but we were pleasantly surprised. This spot has plenty of options and even had gluten-free pasta and buns available. (Their fries, however, are flour-dredged so off limits if gf.) I ordered the fettuccine with chicken and gf pasta, with honestly low expectations. But the grilled chicken was fresh and tasty, and the cream sauce was also freshly made and very good. My family members both ordered the club sandwich and loved it. She made sure we were happy with everything, mixed our martini herself one time and helped us with the excellent choice of local beers. I've been coming here for years. My family loves the clam chowder, wood oven pizza, pasta, fish and chips, steak, vegetable sides, burgers, fries, and, often, a super good special is on the menu. Kids' menu, too. The salads are excellent. We never have room for dessert but I hear their toffee pudding is delicious. You really can't go wrong here.
