freshly shucked raw Pacific oysters from Neetar Bay super close by, especially as it gets super sweet and delicious.

The atmosphere and the sweet people who work here are great, stopped by and stumbled upon the River House Nestucca on accident was super blessed to meet. John had some of the best oyster shooters in this area. I also got Oregon Coast clam chowder with bacon at seven dollars a cup. The bowl is $11 served with oyster crackers but I don't really eat oyster crackers. The chowder by itself is delicious. You can really taste the depth of flavors, with such simple ingredients. They get their oysters fresh from Knee Tar Bay. If I wasn't on my way to another restaurant, I'm definitely stopping by next time to try their pants, see jumbo scallops and the miso citrus marinated halibut..

We were able to get a table for 3 when they opened up at 4:30 pm without a reservation. We were seated by a window that looked out to the river and saw an otter swimming in the water looking for dinner too. Beautiful view! Our waiter, Thomas, was super friendly and had great recommendations for our meal. We started with the crab cakes which were very tasty. For the entrees, our table ordered the Miso Citrus Marinated Halibut, Pork Porterhouse Chimmichuri and the Citrus and Butter Clam Linguine. Everything was delicious except for the linguine; it was lacking a bit of flavor. For dessert, we ordered their famous bread pudding, chocolate cake and strawberry cheesecake. We enjoyed our meal and would come back again when in town

A cute and warm local place on the interior waterway. It's not large, so be sure to get a reservation. It was busy on a Thursday evening at 6pm. Thomas was our server who gets 5+ stars for his attentive and friendly service that was the perfect balance of having everything perfectly timed and served but also at the same time, not being intrusive on our special occasion. He's truly one of the best servers I've had. The bread was tasty, but not the best I've ever had. The clam chowder was excellent! It was piping hot and very flavorful. The crab cakes with the extra sauce were very good. The presentation of the paella was 5 stars. We loved the variety to explore. Being in a hot pan kept it nice and toasty throughout our meal. I loved the subtle crunch to the rice. We split the entree and it was plenty. We had the bread pudding for dessert which was delicious too. The pacing of the meal was good in that it was presented as a multi-course meal and we never had waiting in between courses. It was very efficient and delicious. I'd come back for sure.

My husband and I celebrated our anniversary at Two Capes Mirror Cabin and we looked for nearby restaurants. A very short drive away, The Riverhouse was our top choice so we made a reservation for 6pm on a sunny Thursday night with no issue. We arrived and were met with a smile and quickly seated at a booth. It is small and cozy offering an unpretentious interior, about 12 tables available. There looked to be outside seating with a gorgeous river view too. After looking at the menu we chose drinks, crab cakes for our appetizer, a cup of clam chowder with bacon, paella to share and bread pudding for dessert. The crab cakes were hearty with a yummy sauce. The clam chowder was delicious and arrived piping hot which is primo! The paella arrived and the presentation is stunning. I love the touch of the grilled lemon. It offers some amazing seafood - mussels, clams, scallops and octopus. The rice was super flavorful and the portion was just right for us to share. We ended the night with bread pudding. It was tasty with the caramel and ice cream - I can see why it's a local favorite. What I will tell you is that Thomas is exceptional, his service is 10 out of 10. You can tell he cares about each and every guest that dines here!

Get a reservation, no matter the size of your party. There are only around 10 tables here!! Call and leave a message if they are not open. This was the only turn off for me. The manager was actually a bit miffed that we showed up without a reservation! The oyster shooter were great and I appreciate they were on the half shell. The salmon was cooked perfectly. Tender and moist. Risotto was also tasty and cooked properly. Cioppino was awesome. I could slop that broth up for days. Plenty of seafood too. Docking one star for the weird manager experience but the food was definitely worth the visit.

Fabulous find!! We had been hiking nearby and wanted an early dinner. This was an amazing and delicious surprise!! So happy we dined here. Very much recommended.

Another night at the Riverhouse. Giving 4 stars only because the salmon & risotto was bland. The chowder was great, steamers are tasty. Ryan our server was pleasant and wonderful.

After all the raving reviews here about this chef's talent, I was left disappointed. Maybe this was an off day, but basically, the food was bland without taste. This was true for this highly decorated clam chowder where people claim they have never had any better (I disagree), and the seafood gumbo, where the shrimp and calamari had no taste. The only delicious ingredient was the andouille sausage, and that wasn't made in-house. I felt nothing, including the clam chowder, was made that day. Ambiance and the service was fine.

    Chicken & Dumplings

The only thing better than the ambiance and the wonderful staff is the food! The Chicken & Dumplings is out of this world. The best I've ever had. Highly recommend!

Nice food, nice ambiance. We made a reservations for dinner and the place was packed (they only have 12 tables). My scallops were superb but it was advertised to come over home made linguine, so I was a bit disappointed to see it came over orecchiette pasta instead, definitely not homemade. However, the sauce with wild mushrooms, hazelnuts, bacon and butternut squash was so good, it made up for the disappointment. My friends had salmon (good) and crab roll (very nice). The service was a bit sluggish.

The walls are alive with local art, colors dancing, Grateful Dead vibes everywhere you look. Even the menu's singing... dish names straight out of a setlist, like you're ordering breakfast at a show that never really ended. Now the Marionberry French toast... oh man. That one hits like a perfect riff at just the right moment. Sweet, rich, and laid back in all the right ways and like it knew exactly why you showed up. They've got fresh baked goods dialed in too and this is their thing, and you can taste it in every bite. Service? Kinda like a wandering solo... not always in sync, not always warm, but hey the music (aka the food) keeps the whole thing together. Sounds like fun and tasty so we left early on Saturday morning. We splashed in and played for a few hours. After getting out of the water we walked to the food cart restaurant on the bank of Nehalem river. When we walked up there was a sign "Waiting Time One Hour". Ok! It's a three day warm winter weekend so many people headed to the coast. We ordered beer and chatted away the time. This is a good food cart, outside seating on the river on the sunny day. The cart is associated.with the roadside store in the downtown. The back of the store has a covered deck with tables in case it rains. Prices are high, for three piece halibut with a dab of coleslaw and overcook cold french fries was $32. My friend had the three-piece cod for $26ish. My friend really wanted to try this place and she enjoyed the cod. I, on the other hand, have had better with Moore sloth and fries at other places on the coast., But you're here, right. People who came without a reservation were told that there's about an hour wait or they could sit at the bar level on the first floor. There's also a second bar on the second floor where the main dining room is up a flight of stairs. Service was great and we were lucky enough to sit by the window overlooking the sea lions, the water, and the Yaquina Bay Bridge. Food wise, it was mostly 5 star. I'll start with the thing that wasn't, and that was the deviled eggs (you get 3) with a lightly fried shrimp. The shrimp was overcooked, lukewarm, and didn't really add anything. But other than that, everything else was really good. The highlight was the Umpqua oysters on the half shell. We went through a dozen and a half. The oysters are sweeter, no briny. They're not huge but not tiny either like Kusshi oysters. It came with 3 different sauces. Another highlight was the whole dungenous crab...so fresh. Poke salad, garlic brussel sprouts, Yellowtail Hamachi, and Lingcod were also pretty good. If I'm ever in the area, I would definitely return.
