freshly shucked raw Pacific oysters from Neetar Bay super close by, especially as it gets super sweet and delicious.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]The atmosphere and the sweet people who work here are great[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]], stopped by and stumbled upon the River House Nestucca on accident was super blessed to meet. John had some of the best oyster shooters in this area. I also got Oregon Coast clam chowder with bacon at seven dollars a cup. The bowl is $11 served with oyster crackers but I don't really eat oyster crackers. The chowder by itself is delicious. You can really taste the depth of flavors, with such simple ingredients. They get their oysters fresh from Knee Tar Bay. If I wasn't on my way to another restaurant, I'm definitely stopping by next time to try their pants, see jumbo scallops and the miso citrus marinated halibut..

[[HIGHLIGHT]]A cute and warm local place on the interior waterway.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's not large, so be sure to get a reservation. It was busy on a Thursday evening at 6pm.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Thomas was our server who gets 5+ stars for his attentive and friendly service that was the perfect balance of having everything perfectly timed and served but also at the same time, not being intrusive on our special occasion. He's truly one of the best servers I've had. The bread was tasty, but not the best I've ever had. The clam chowder was excellent! It was piping hot and very flavorful. The crab cakes with the extra sauce were very good. The presentation of the paella was 5 stars. We loved the variety to explore. Being in a hot pan kept it nice and toasty throughout our meal. I loved the subtle crunch to the rice. We split the entree and it was plenty. We had the bread pudding for dessert which was delicious too. The pacing of the meal was good in that it was presented as a multi-course meal and we never had waiting in between courses. It was very efficient and delicious. I'd come back for sure.

My husband and I celebrated our anniversary at Two Capes Mirror Cabin and we looked for nearby restaurants. A very short drive away, The Riverhouse was our top choice so we made a reservation for 6pm on a sunny Thursday night with no issue. We arrived and were met with a smile and quickly seated at a booth. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It is small and cozy offering an unpretentious interior, about 12 tables available.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]There looked to be outside seating with a gorgeous river view too.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] After looking at the menu we chose drinks, crab cakes for our appetizer, a cup of clam chowder with bacon, paella to share and bread pudding for dessert. The crab cakes were hearty with a yummy sauce. The clam chowder was delicious and arrived piping hot which is primo! The paella arrived and the presentation is stunning. I love the touch of the grilled lemon. It offers some amazing seafood - mussels, clams, scallops and octopus. The rice was super flavorful and the portion was just right for us to share. We ended the night with bread pudding. It was tasty with the caramel and ice cream - I can see why it's a local favorite. What I will tell you is that Thomas is exceptional, his service is 10 out of 10. You can tell he cares about each and every guest that dines here!

Cioppino - yum!

Get a reservation, no matter the size of your party. There are only around 10 tables here!! Call and leave a message if they are not open. This was the only turn off for me. The manager was actually a bit miffed that we showed up without a reservation! The oyster shooter were great and I appreciate they were on the half shell. The salmon was cooked perfectly. Tender and moist. Risotto was also tasty and cooked properly. Cioppino was awesome. I could slop that broth up for days. Plenty of seafood too. Docking one star for the weird manager experience but the food was definitely worth the visit.

We were able to get a table for 3 when they opened up at 4:30 pm without a reservation. [[HIGHLIGHT]]We were seated by a window that looked out to the river and saw an otter swimming in the water looking for dinner too. Beautiful view![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Our waiter, Thomas, was super friendly and had great recommendations for our meal. We started with the crab cakes which were very tasty. For the entrees, our table ordered the Miso Citrus Marinated Halibut, Pork Porterhouse Chimmichuri and the Citrus and Butter Clam Linguine. Everything was delicious except for the linguine; it was lacking a bit of flavor. For dessert, we ordered their famous bread pudding, chocolate cake and strawberry cheesecake. We enjoyed our meal and would come back again when in town

Another night at the Riverhouse. Giving 4 stars only because the salmon & risotto was bland. The chowder was great, steamers are tasty. Ryan our server was pleasant and wonderful.

Halibut

Fabulous find!! We had been hiking nearby and wanted an early dinner. This was an amazing and delicious surprise!! So happy we dined here. Very much recommended.

Clam Chowder

After all the raving reviews here about this chef's talent, I was left disappointed. Maybe this was an off day, but basically, the food was bland without taste. This was true for this highly decorated clam chowder where people claim they have never had any better (I disagree), and the seafood gumbo, where the shrimp and calamari had no taste. The only delicious ingredient was the andouille sausage, and that wasn't made in-house. I felt nothing, including the clam chowder, was made that day. Ambiance and the service was fine.

Chicken & Dumplings

[[HIGHLIGHT]]The only thing better than the ambiance and the wonderful staff is the food![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The Chicken & Dumplings is out of this world. The best I've ever had. Highly recommend!

Nice food, nice ambiance. We made a reservations for dinner and the place was packed (they only have 12 tables). My scallops were superb but it was advertised to come over home made linguine, so I was a bit disappointed to see it came over orecchiette pasta instead, definitely not homemade. However, the sauce with wild mushrooms, hazelnuts, bacon and butternut squash was so good, it made up for the disappointment. My friends had salmon (good) and crab roll (very nice). The service was a bit sluggish.

While there aren't a huge number of dining options in town, we never felt like we were settling. In fact, we looked forward to coming back each time. If you're a beer lover, you'll be in heaven. Their selection is extensive, with everything from crisp pilsners to rich stouts, making it easy to find something that suits your taste. The location is simply unbeatable. Nearly every table offers a view of the Pacific Ocean, and if you're lucky enough to grab a seat on the patio (my favorite spot), you're practically sitting on the beach. Watching the waves roll in while enjoying a meal is hard to top. Despite being incredibly busy, every server we had was friendly, attentive, and worked incredibly hard. The only minor downside was that the restaurant appeared to be a little understaffed. There were times when empty tables were visible, yet the wait was still 20-30 minutes. Honestly, though, we didn't mind. Any excuse to sit outside, people-watch, or simply stare out at the ocean is time well spent. The food was consistently excellent throughout our visits. We sampled the clam chowder, fish and chips, Backyard BBQ burger, cheeseburger, oyster shooters (both the Mignonette and Spicy Mary), and the cheese curds. My favorites were easily the clam chowder and the fish and chips--both were outstanding and exactly what you hope for when dining on the Oregon Coast. Even if beer isn't your thing, the cocktail menu is worth exploring. I ordered the Tsunami Warning, a refreshing blend of rum, pineapple and lime juices, ginger beer, and Pelican's Tsunami Stout. It's definitely a unique cocktail that won't be for everyone, but I'm glad I gave it a try. My biggest regret? Never saving room for dessert. Every time I saw one pass by our table, it looked incredible, but I was always too full to order one. That's just one more reason to come back. If you're visiting Pacific City, I highly recommend stopping by the original Pelican Brewing Company. Between the incredible oceanfront setting, excellent food and drinks, and welcoming service, it's a place that's easy to return to again and again.

Incredibly poor customer service when issues arise…read more Spoke to some rude young guy at 8:54p on 6/20/2026. **UPDATE 06/27: Upon this response I am glad to have made the decision to no longer dine at this restaurant as most of what the business is claiming happened is inaccurate and being relayed to them from a now terminated employee that they are choosing to believe the narrative of versus a customers. I would imagine your phone lines are not recorded otherwise you would have verified that is not how the call played out at all. I did mispeak at the beginning of the call and tried to clarify that my order had been called in over the phone but the calltaker was too busy arguing with me to let me get a word in. I will absolutely admit to using a singular F bomb at the end of the call prior to disconnecting out of frustration, but only after being talked over, argued with and ridiculed for the entire duration of the phone call. It was at that point I realized that the man on the other side of the phone call did not respect me nor my situation and was more concerned with being right than about resolving the issue at hand. I had a long day and after driving for 8+ hours was hoping to just support a local restaurant / employees and eat some good food. Someone shouldn't have to speak to a manager to order something without an ingredient and then still be given that ingredient. I hope the next person you hire has better customer service skills. -Hey so I'm never one to leave reviews unless I feel other people could benefit from my experience, so I wanted to save someone from hopefully going through what I just went through tonight with this restaurant. I ordered a cheese enchilada with no meat, as I haven't eaten meat for almost 15 years and it makes me incredibly sick to consume it. I placed my order over the phone and everyone was incredibly nice at pickup and besides them forgetting my horchata there were no issues. (Genuinely could have cared less about this but now it's just the icing on the proverbial cake, I guess). I made sure to tip near 20% in cash, as I appreciate the hustle of the food service industry and wanted to support local. I was halfway through my enchiladas when I noticed specks of what looked like meat on the top and in the center of my food. Concerned, I called in to verify what food I had been given as I ordered cheese and had what looked to be chicken in my food. Instead of being apologetic for messing up my order, I was told "well it should be obvious if it has meat in it or not" and then when I told the person on the phone I could get sick if it's chunks of meat he then ARGUED with me about how it's pork and not chicken?? And then informed me that's "just how their green sauce is made", as if I should have had insider knowledge to that. I told him I was not informed of this and I was practically shrugged off as he argued again with me about "how it's just on top and not inside", as if I was some overreacting child who just needed to scrape the top off of the food I just paid for. (There was also meat sauce inside but I just dropped the issue). Then he "sort of" offered a solution by requesting I drive all the way back to provide in- person proof of the food, again not at all sympathetic or even remotely apologetic, even after I told him I may need to seek medical attention and was just calling so I could get info on what I consumed. I couldn't even drive back to give him the half eaten enchilada and get my money back because by the time I finally got to eat half of a dinner that will likely make me vomit, I was 45 mins south at my destination. ***What makes me so mad about this whole ridiculous event is a simple apology would have sufficed. My money back would have been nice but I just wanted to get clarification on the issue and get a freaking apology the food I paid for was screwed up and likely going to make me sick. But I was instead belittled over not knowing their kitchen recipes, despite saying multiple times over the phone "no meat". There was no confusion when the order was placed and it was read back to me multiple times, so it really just comes down to them just not caring. I expect no special treatment over my food choices but a little respect and basic human decency would have been real nice. Guess that's too much to ask for from Los Caperales. Have a better night than I'm going to
