The atmosphere and the sweet people who work here are great, stopped by and stumbled upon the River House Nestucca on accident was super blessed to meet. John had some of the best oyster shooters in this area. I also got Oregon Coast clam chowder with bacon at seven dollars a cup. The bowl is $11 served with oyster crackers but I don't really eat oyster crackers. The chowder by itself is delicious. You can really taste the depth of flavors, with such simple ingredients. They get their oysters fresh from Knee Tar Bay. If I wasn't on my way to another restaurant, I'm definitely stopping by next time to try their pants, see jumbo scallops and the miso citrus marinated halibut.. read more

We were able to get a table for 3 when they opened up at 4:30 pm without a reservation. We were seated by a window that looked out to the river and saw an otter swimming in the water looking for dinner too. Beautiful view! Our waiter, Thomas, was super friendly and had great recommendations for our meal. We started with the crab cakes which were very tasty. For the entrees, our table ordered the Miso Citrus Marinated Halibut, Pork Porterhouse Chimmichuri and the Citrus and Butter Clam Linguine. A cute and warm local place on the interior waterway. It's not large, so be sure to get a reservation. It was busy on a Thursday evening at 6pm. Thomas was our server who gets 5+ stars for his attentive and friendly service that was the perfect balance of having everything perfectly timed and served but also at the same time, not being intrusive on our special occasion. He's truly one of the best servers I've had. The bread was tasty, but not the best I've ever had. The clam chowder was excellent! It was piping hot and very flavorful. The crab cakes with the extra sauce were very good. The presentation of the paella was 5 stars. We loved the variety to explore. Being in a hot pan kept it nice and toasty throughout our meal. I loved the subtle crunch to the rice. We split the entree and it was plenty. We had the bread pudding for dessert which was delicious too. My husband and I celebrated our anniversary at Two Capes Mirror Cabin and we looked for nearby restaurants. A very short drive away, The Riverhouse was our top choice so we made a reservation for 6pm on a sunny Thursday night with no issue. We arrived and were met with a smile and quickly seated at a booth. It is small and cozy offering an unpretentious interior, about 12 tables available. There looked to be outside seating with a gorgeous river view too. After looking at the menu we chose drinks, crab cakes for our appetizer, a cup of clam chowder with bacon, paella to share and bread pudding for dessert. The crab cakes were hearty with a yummy sauce. The clam chowder was delicious and arrived piping hot which is primo! The paella arrived and the presentation is stunning. I love the touch of the grilled lemon. It offers some amazing seafood - mussels, clams, scallops and octopus. The rice was super flavorful and the portion was just right for us to share. We ended the night with bread pudding. It was tasty with the caramel and ice cream - I can see why it's a local favorite. What I will tell you is that Thomas is exceptional, his service is 10 out of 10. You can tell he cares about each and every guest that dines here! read more

The manager was actually a bit miffed that we showed up without a reservation! The oyster shooter were great and I appreciate they were on the half shell. The salmon was cooked perfectly. Tender and moist. Risotto was also tasty and cooked properly. Cioppino was awesome. I could slop that broth up for days. Plenty of seafood too. After all the raving reviews here about this chef's talent, I was left disappointed. Maybe this was an off day, but basically, the food was bland without taste. This was true for this highly decorated clam chowder where people claim they have never had any better (I disagree), and the seafood gumbo, where the shrimp and calamari had no taste. The only delicious ingredient was the andouille sausage, and that wasn't made in-house. I felt nothing, including the clam chowder, was made that day. Ambiance and the service was fine. read more

My scallops were superb but it was advertised to come over home made linguine, so I was a bit disappointed to see it came over orecchiette pasta instead, definitely not homemade. However, the sauce with wild mushrooms, hazelnuts, bacon and butternut squash was so good, it made up for the disappointment. My friends had salmon (good) and crab roll (very nice). Food and service were lack luster. Hostess had an attitude to begin with which should have been the sign to go somewhere else. I had the prawn tacos and there was a crab shell in one of the tacos that damn near broke my tooth. Another person in my party had the burger and the center of the burger was almost raw. Hamburger is one thing that should not be undercooked. The fish and chips looked like it was cooked in old dirty oil. Very underwhelming restaurant for the high prices that demand perfection. $31 for tacos that one you have to spit out from crab shell is sad. I think the undercooked burger was $29. read more

We also ordered the calamari because we were told it was great. However, we didn't get to find out because our server forgot to put in an order. We had the crab cakes as an appetizer, then the pan seared scallops and fish tacos for the main course. Everything was cooked to perfection, the scallops were some of the best I've ever had, and the risotto was savory and inventive. The portion sizes were very generous, especially for the price, making this upscale restaurant great value. Beautiful setting overlooking the Nestucca River. Close to the beach in Pacific City. Not just a locals restaurant and quality dinner that is affordable. Arrived late for my reservation and they had tried calling even though cell service is spotty in the area. Still, seated by our waitress who as it turns out waited all the tables. I believe she had close to 12 with 10 occupied by two to four people. She did have help with food delivery service from a young lady who never acknowledged us waiting up front 10 minutes. Started with Calamari - lightly breaded good crunch but not over cooked so tender sitting on a nice aioli with a fire roasted lemon. Bread was also brought to table with wrapped butter. Bread came pre sliced not a small table size loaf. Darn out of clam chowder so no guess but I have heard it is great. Two piece fish and chips (frites) with house tarter and ketchup. English style very puffed up not to greasy and very tasty ling cod. Large pieces that could have been cut in half and still been plenty. We worked through it happily. The house frites were excellent and had a snap to them and held shape. Very good. Citrus Miso Halibut w/sushi rice, bok choy flame grilled and a cream sauce that tasted like I needed another bowl of rice just for more sauce. This was by far the best seafood dish I have had in Tillamook county this year. Cost under $100.00 for the two of us excluding drinks. Great night out no rush to leave felt good and full when we left. Passed on dessert. Make reservations. Limited seating. Elevator for elderly or disabled. Parking is limited. Well worth a go. Some of the best fresh Crab Benedict I've had at the coast, with large pieces of crab & breakfast potatoes that are irresistible. I usually don't eat many of the potatoes because they fill me up and I don't have room for the crab but I couldn't help myself, these potatoes were amazing. The perfect balance of crunch and softness, I've never had any better than these. Even the grapes and pineapple were delicious. 10 out of 10. The views of the river are good for the soul, and the friendly staff pointing out the otter in the river just made my day! read more

On a friend's recommendation we traveled to Pacific City to see what the fuss was about. I didn't try the appetizers my friends ordered so can't review them but my linguine and clam entree was the best choice for me. -A generous portion of a saffron infused sauce with clams stacked high over perfectly cooked linguine. I just wish I had a slice of bread to soak up the remaining sauce. A decadent chocolate dessert was enjoyed by all. Service could be better but the view and food make up for it. Overpriced, Pretentious, and Rude From the moment we walked in, the experience was uncomfortable. We were made to stand awkwardly in a cramped reception area while being repeatedly told how lucky we were to have a table -- hardly a warm welcome. Later, while I was waiting for the bathroom (right next to the kitchen), the hostess didn't see me and started talking to our waiter, complaining about us having kids at the table. That should have been our cue to leave. The "kids' hamburger" was laughable -- about the size of a small meatball, with the bun cut down to match. For $13, it felt insulting. The food in general was overpriced and underwhelming. They give off an air of being "high-end," but true high-end restaurants care just as much about the people they serve as they do about the food. Having worked as a chef in Michelin-starred restaurants and in customer service at The Ritz, I notice the details. Here, the details screamed that they're nice to guests only to get their money, not out of genuine hospitality. The receptionist was particularly rude, and the whole atmosphere lacked any real warmth or professionalism. We left feeling like we had wasted our time and money. read more

Mom's clam linguine was packed with fresh clams in a rich sauce that wasn't heavy, just lovely. She loved it! My paella was probably the best paella I've eaten. Such a charming little place, nestled alongside the Nestucca River. It feels a world away from the coast, even though it's so close. We called ahead early in the evening and were able to get a reservation same day. Upon arrival the dining room was full & vibrant & tiny! I'm not sure if any of the pictures do it justice, but it is really small! Maybe about 12 tables total - a few 4 tops on each side and 3 sets of 2 tops down the middle. We had to wait a few minutes to be seated until some tables cleared out, so we enjoyed looking out at the river while listening to the music that was playing - such a date night vibe. Upon being seated we were given water and warm bread with butter. We ordered the mixed greens with honey mustard vinaigrette, the crab Mac and cheese, and the burger with rosemary fries - yum. The portions were more than generous, so much so that we couldn't finish our entrees and had absolutely no room for dessert! This is a nice little place for a cozy date night.
