I asked for a pretty simple haircut, trim on the top and extra trim on the sides. They gave me a regular generic men's haircut which was not even close to what I wanted. I have curly hair and they have obviously never cut curly hair before all they did was wet it and then cut it like it was straight hair. I'll be wearing a hat for the next 2 weeks until it grows back out. My girlfriend also got a haircut and she just wanted her split ends trimmed. When we got got home she had tons of split ends that were not cut off. Then it was almost 80$ for both of us. If you want a generic haircut I guess this place is ok but if you have curly hair or need something that's not just a fade with a trim on top go somewhere else. Justin is a very talented hairdresser. However I will not be going back. I originally found Justin on yelp and decided to give him a try for a cut and color because he had so many great reviews. And my cut and color was really outstanding. So I continued to go to Justin for many cuts and color jobs. I found that a few times I had to wait for a very long time even though I had an appointment. This seemed due to the fact that he takes walk-ins for himself to cut even when he has a scheduled cut coming in soon. But I put up with that because his cuts were really great. But then I found that the haircuts and colors were very inconsistent. I got some pretty bad ones too. In one color experience the product was clearly left on way too long and what was supposed to be subtle highlights looked like a frosting jobs from the 70's. And then a couple of haircuts were just not very good. My last straw was when I got one more not so good haircut that took forever with me sitting in the chair and him continually greeting customers and getting interrupted, and then selling me new salon products that I went home to find were Shaklee products he was selling but not disclosing as Shaklee and selling them at a higher that market price. I realized that the haircuts and colors were inconsistent because Justin attempts to focus on running the salon while he works on your hair. He walks away in the middle of the cut to answer phones, take payment from customers who just had cuts with other stylists, and greet people. Even when he has a receptionist at the desk he will walk away to get involved with whatever they are doing rather than trust them to take care of everything to free him up to cut. So while he is an exceptionally talented hair stylist, I found that he just didn't focus on doing my hair and I believe that all the distractions led to substandard work. I think he would be a master stylist if he hired a full time receptionist/ manager that could run the place and if he was able to give 100% of his attention to whomever was in his styling chair. read more

I normally never write bad reviews because I tend to give places second chances but this time, there is no way I am letting this go. The first strike was when i took my three year old son to Diana and asked her 3 times to not cut his hair in the front too short. I noticed midway thru the cut that she wasn't paying attention and asked her to stop and she said it isnt too short and then had to ask her again to stop and when she did, his hair in the front looked rodiculous. It was the opposite of what i had asked for. I decided though, to give the place a second chance since there are other people who work there. So this morning i took my son to Vilma and within in the first 5 minutes shes cut his ear badly in two different spots. As if that wasnt bad enough, she whipped out some chapstick looking gel and tried to apply it to his bleeding ear with her bare finger. And as if THAT wasn't bad enough, she didnt apologize. In fact, she said it was because he was moving. Anyone who cuts hair for kids 6 and under should most certainly have a general understanding that children move. Its not that shocking. I have been getting his hair cut since he is 1, and you can be sure as s7it that he moved in a barber chair before. No one has ever made his ear bleed. The manager wasn't there but there was another fellow who worked there and couldn't be bothered to look up from his phone while my son was crying and blood was dripping down his neck. I've been going to Justin (the owner) to get my hair cut for about 3 years now, and honestly I won't let anyone else touch my hair. Justin is an amazing stylist, he will listen to what you want, but also isn't afraid to tell you that something may look better. He takes great pride in his work. I loved that this shop was open on a Monday, and a holiday at that (President's day). That's the only good thing I can say about this place. I have short hair and asked for a pretty easy haircut, a fade with a number 1 on the sides. Just a trim on top. The haircut I got was awful. No fade at all, my hair went from a number 1 to a number 3 with no transition. Even worse, the line around my head was so uneven I thought she (the barber) was joking when she said she was finished. No razor, no cleaning up the line on the back of my neck. It was such a bad cut that even though I knew while I was still in the chair that it needed major work, I didn't trust her to fix it. There was no one else in the shop so it's not even like she was in a hurry. I left and went to my regular barber the next morning to get it fixed. Even he was surprised that someone could do such a bad job with a pretty easy cut. I'll never go to village custom cuts again. read more

I moved to the are a couple years ago but when it came to getting my haircut I always found myself driving back down to southern Westchester to where I'd been getting my haircut for the past 6 years. A little foolish I know but if you're like me you get very hesitant to try a new person cutting your hair out fear of the major screw up even if deep down you know it's time for a change. So this summer I began the search for a new place. My goal was to find someone who really understood what a lot of today's 30-50 year old guys want in a haircut (put me in the middle). We want a masculine style. Not a barber cut, all jacked up with clippers. We want a professional who is current on techniques. Someone who will cut in just enough style without looking like you walked out of a "beauty parlor." Justin looked like he fit that bill from everything I found online. Long story short the guy is the man! He took time to listen to what I thought, gave input, we agreed on a cut and off he went. Man oh man! Best haircut I've had! The reason,....the guy really cares!
