We'll have to say I'm not impressed with this place. They had a sign up to seat yourself. But then had no one there paying any attention to those walking in the door. Tried ti get a few servers attention but they just ignored us. So we walked out. If you KNOW you don't have any seating available post a sign on the door that your full. As for the ambiance it needs work. We had issues walking through the restaurant trying to even see if there were any seating. It's a very small space and needs reworked so you have space to walk. And servers need to pay attention to people walking in the door. read more

Well this was definitely an experience. We started with the lobster bisque soup which was yummy, and hubby wanted a fried onion ring which was just right and not overly seasoned like Outback Steakhouse. I had already ordered the Texmex egg rolls which were done just right in the fryer. We split it with a table next to us because it was way too much for just us two and we were ordering more. Hubby had the brisket Mac and cheese which was awesome. I had the 3 cheese pork belly sandwich with slaw just awesome goodness that could give me a happy heart attack (in a good way). I thought that was it but hubby wanted the key lime in a jar which ended up in a tall glass with Nilla wafers and vanilla wafers and dusted with caramel sugar crystals. Was very disappointed this week. We stopped in around 4:30 to have dinner. The place was pretty much empty hardly anyone at the bar which is so unusual cause you can never get a seat there to play bar poker. They no longer make the hamburgers custom I couldn't order one medium rare. They now make them pressed only which they explained comes out medium well. Their pork tenderloin sandwich that used to cover the entire plate was reduced to half the size and half the thickness it didn't come with any mayonnaise so we asked for blue cheese dressing and then we were charged $1.50 for it. Curious of management change the changed our ownership changed. This was a very different experience for us after 3 years of frequenting this location As our favorite local hangout! On top of that only one staff member was familiar that was working the rest of the staff, including the bartender was new for us. We're so used to good stiff drinks at dock 633. We were very surprised at how different our drinks were as well. Got to be new management or new owners that changed this entire establishment from what we been accustomed to for three years. A few things. When my wife and I started going to Dock 633 I was taken aback by the dark, speakeasy smelly bar type atmosphere along with watching the bartender serve not only the counter but also everyone sitting in the dining room. Oh wait, and wash glasses by hand, serve food and drinks to bar patrons, cash out bar patrons, running around like mad for the entire time. The bartenders are in fact awesome! All this and they still smile and make really good drinks. Next, the food, surprisingly was pretty good! Have to say the portions are plenty and the seasoning on the heavy side. Next, such a loud place to be. I know it is a bar but sitting at the bar having dinner you have a hard time hearing your partner who's sitting right alongside you. My final comment is this. If you are looking for a loud fast paced bar to go to, here it is. The age group is not very diverse, it's typically older with a few younger but not always. Maybe it's just that time of the year. It is noisy, it is dark, it smells, but the food is good. read more

You are definitely going to be in with the locals if you stop in here! A destination for beers, drinks, and bar fare makes a great stop if you're looking for friendly service. Located in a residential area, takes you a little off the beaten path, but worth it as one of the few restaurants in the area that is not strictly fast food. Not too fancy but hits the spot with some nice options they will make everybody in the crowd happy. Read appetizer selection that included boom, boom shrimp, which was a generous portion of lightly crisp, shrimp, and a nice spicy sauce. Our group had some of the burgers, and the grouper (fish and chips), which were voted some of the best we've ever tried. Recommended by locals. Went for lunch on a Monday afternoon. Was a bit dreary but we sat outside under cover. Bartender, servers-super nice! So friendly and helpful. I ordered the pretzel board, more because I was interested in the visual of how it would come out. Such a great idea with this. If you like soft pretzels and cheese this is for you! Friend got the fish tacos and said they were very good. Cons-the bar area is very dark, weirdly so. The outside seating area could def been spruced up a bit, it look dirty/worn. Not sure I would go again because I have better food at other local places but I'm glad we tried it. read more

Well, I am not able to say anything about the food because I did not eat it. We came with the family, 3 children and 4 adults, last night and the restaurant was full. The only reason we were seated quickly was because a lovely couple gave up their table. We were not greeted by our waitress until about 10 minutes later. She was pleasant and took our drink and food order. The drinks came out about another 10 min later. We waited, and waited- after an hour and a half, yes, that long of a wait time, no food, no waitress giving any updates, nothing... we left. So no way to review the food here- but much to say of the service. At the very least, the waitress should have come out to update, apologize... something! read more

My wife and I eat at Dock 633 often and the food and service are always consistent and great. However, last night [2/7/2025] I noticed a sneaky little charge on my bill that, to me, is outrageous--a $2.60 charge for ice added to a drink! Given the profit margin on alcoholic drinks, there should be no charge for ice. If you have 3 drinks, the charge accounts for an extra drink that you did not get. Not good business practice--for frozen water--Yikes! it may give me second thoughts about going there as they seem to be the only one charging for ice! read more

Bbq quesadilla was fantastic but the slaw that came with it wasn't very good. Drinks were ice cold. My friends fish tacos left something to be desired, stick with the bbq! The quesadilla was big enough for is to split and we both loved it. Kids both liked their quesadillas but the chips were overcooked. Service was fast & friendly. My sister and brother-in-law were vacationing on the east side of Florida and wanted to meet us for lunch. We decided we would drive half way and meet in the middle rather than one group doing the entire drive. There were a few different routes we could have taken but one choice was Lake Placid. In reading reviews, Dock 633 seemed like it would suit everyone best. It offered a wide range of food choices and had some of the best reviews for the area. In fact, one review stated it was the best place to eat in Lake Placid. Dock 633 has the feel and ambiance of a local gathering place near a lake that has served the area for generations. It's well-worn and comfortable, as well as, clean and welcoming. Totally a come-as-you-are gathering place that caters to family and community. It's the type of place that you go to after ballgames, being out on the lake or when you want to watch a game at a bar. Everyone there seemed to know each other. I've been to a number of places that fit this description and most of them fall into the A-okay category. We were all really impressed with the quality of the food and reasonable prices. Our party of four each ordered something different. The Triple Decker Club was beautiful. You can tell when top quality ingredients are used. Even better - it tasted great. The quesadilla had a wonderfully crisp tortilla casing that held up to the evenly cooked ingredients inside. It's one of the best quesadilla's I've had in Florida in the last year. The Breaded Fish had a nice outside crunch and flaky inside. The French Fries were hot and crisp. My sister said they were perfect; high praise from her! The Grilled Mahi was nicely seasoned and got a thumbs up from my brother-in-law. Dock 633 is totally fan-worthy. I'm giving them 4 stars. There are places that think they are a restaurant and also have a bar. Then there are bars that also have food. Make no mistake, this is a bar first that also serves decent food. PRO TIP- If you are not familiar with Lake Placid, fire up your GPS. These folks are not downtown. ATMOSPHERE- At the bar itself it's quite dark. When you get the menu you might need your cell phone flashlight. When I was there it was clear there were many regulars. I was not one of them but was instantly made to feel at home. In addition to the bar there is plenty of seating both inside and outside. BTW- It doesn't look like much from the outside but don't let that turn you away. ADULT LIBATIONS- This is a small town bar in Highlands County folks. If you are looking for a pretentious specialty drink with seven ingredients and the bartender polishing a crystal glass, man oh man are you in the wrong place. Grab yourself a brew including a few crafts or a house wine. A marg is fine of course. I'd like to see the bartender's face if you asked for an ingredient to be muddled! FOOD- The menu is extensive including a few steaks but when it's all said and done the core is bar food and that is just fine. I ordered a cheeseburger and I noticed that one of my side options was waffle fries. Oh I love those bad boys! All together it was about $10. My meal arrived and if you see my pic it was nicely plated and cooked to perfection. It was slightly marred by a cold bun which is one of my hot buttons! How many conversations like this do you think take place- "Hi Mr./Ms. waitperson. I'd like a HOT juicy burger medium please. Add lettuce and tomato to that. I'd also like some nice HOT waffle fries. BTW- Please make sure my burger bun is COLD. It's soooo much better that way!" Arrrghhhhh! Grill the G*d D**n bun! Venting done but it really was a very nice burger and the fries were well seasoned and excellent. When I return to Lake Placid this will be one of a few places high on my list. read more
