The hardest part about Village Inn is deciding what to eat...."should I do the eggs Benedict, should I do an ultimate skillet with Two bacon strips, two sausage links, diced ham, mushrooms, green peppers, onions, tomatoes and melted cheeses?" I went with the country fried steak and eggs with a side of hot coffee. My son, Liam, went with a cheeseburger with fries with all the fixings, my daughter, Madison, ordered a Belgian Waffle with eggs and bacon from the kids menu, my fiancé, Cassie, ordered the turkey avocado bacon on wheat bread with a side salad. From my side, the fried steak and gravy was absolutely delicious, the 3 eggs that came with it were made to buttery perfection, Madison loved everything but mentioned the waffle was really dry so we drenched it in syrup haha, Liam loved his burgers and fries, Cassie mentioned that her turkey was really dry as well but she's not one to make a big stink over fry turkey . Over all we were very happy the food. Our server, Mya, was absolutely wonderful. She greeted our table and made sure to get our drinks right away. When she came back, we all knew exactly what we wanted. She gave great service with a smile. I can honestly say we were full and satisfied. Can't wait to come back! Took too damn long. We saw people be seated, eat, and leave before we even got our food. I get that its a Saturday morning (11 ish) but the order they gave customers their food was fucked. The food was like any other breakfast diner, but the biscuit was burnt as u can see in the picture . But shouldve been top tier for the amount of time we waited. I was in town for work and I decided to check out this place because it was so close by. I ordered the Ultimate Breakfast and I thought overall it was good. The ham and bacon was delicious! I also enjoyed the pancakes. The hash browns were pretty good too! Orange juice is NOT fresh squeezed, I could tell it came from a box of Minute Maid. Apparently, they are know for their pies which looks like they had a large variety of. I would go back to this place again because of the well-priced food and good/fast service. read more

On our annually camping trip we stopped at the Village Inn in Virginia for breakfast. Our party of 8 (4 kids and 4 adults) was seated with minimal wait and the service was very friendly. We arrived at the peak Sunday breakfast time and the staff managed the busy dining room very well. Every member of our party enjoyed their food selections. The hash-browns were perfectly cooked. We will definitely return to the Village Inn when we camp up North again. read more

Unlike the only other Village Inn I have eaten at (Ankeny, IA), the unintentionally retro, Perkins-like chain's franchise in Virginia, Minnesota is pretty decent. They have pie and lots of it. Now I wouldn't say that it reminds me of the pie my grandma used to bake, but it is reminiscent of the pie she'd pick up from Baker's Square. Not bad, not home made, and not good for ya. It's a nice little treat to have a slice and a cuppa joe before the jaunt back to the Cities. read more

Nothing fancy but nothing wrong with this experience. This is a solidly middle America breakfast place. Eggs, bacon, hash browns and pancakes were prepared well. The food here is great. Some of the best food I've had from a Perkins-like restaurant. But when it gets too crowded in here, the service slows down. We had to wait over 30 minutes to place our orders, while other customers who had entered before us were served quickly. Waiters were polite. The food was good. Best pie in America says the sign on the building. NOPE. Mass produced cardboard crust. We tried three pieces: apple, pecan and caramel silk supreme. Crust was horrible!!! Crust is 50% of a good pie... please, just terrible. Apple was one of the worse pies we have tried anywhere. Pecan was ok, caramel silk supreme was also just ok. Very nice, clean establishment with extremely friendly staff. My wife and I are traveling and were looking for a decent meal. We both had the chicken fried steak with the green beans which were awesome. We opted not to have a piece of pie for dessert as we were both pleasantly stuffed after the meal but their selection looked very appatizing to say the least. While their breakfast food is very good, items on the lunch and dinner menus are painfully bland. I had a taste of my boyfriend's burger yesterday, and it was ridiculously boring. It tasted like nothing, and it was overly greasy. I have had a few meals from their dinner menu - sandwiches, burgers, and the stir fry, and they are always disappointing. There is no unique taste or flavor. My main issue was the terrible service. Our waitress ignored us, and would not refill my boyfriend's drink, even when we placed it blatantly at the edge of the table. This was the first time I have refused to leave a tip on the table. If you are looking to eat some breakfast, Village Inn is great, but I would most definitely not recommend eating anything that is not on their breakfast menu.
