New Saturday night bartender is TERRIBLE. I ordered a water and he told me it was easier for him to make a mixed drink than to serve me a water. He also served my friend a beer that was expired as of a month ago and and once my friend let him know, the bar tender accused my friend of being "cheap" and kicked him out of the bar. This place used to be great but this bar tender is straight trash. I do not wish to visit here again and spend my money. read more

I walked into Village Inn in on 2-27- 2024 after doing some shopping I thought okay I will stop on the way home for a few beers see what it is like having never been. First impressions is its clean and kept up for an old time bar. I felt comfortable walking in I got a spot up at the bar . I had my Id ready usually that is protocol to check the persons drivers license. I just was prepared with debit and Id it was not going to be checked if I had not done that. The bar tender takes my Illinois state drivers license and passes it around to his friends each one of them with a chuckle like something is funny and I amused them. After enough time has passed and am now annoyed I said hey is there a problem Is everything okay ? he came around and said you don't look 33 do you have any other Id. I said debit cards, Credit cards I pull out but know other ID who does . He says your good now I have become uncomfortable . I order a miller light draft. I stayed for a few beers and closed my tab and left. Clearly the license is a valid Illinois State Drivers license the bartender said like it was a joke he did not have a door man to check Ids that night does he ever? There is hand held machines that are not that expensive to run the persons license through if you are unsure like really ? . He acted like he was so busy he had time to run his mouth and talk with his friends it was not that busy. I am not around for some body and there amusement you do not pass a personal piece of information around to everyone in the bar. I did not come in there to be made fun of . This is disappointing I am new to the area moved here all on my own a month ago. Its pretty clear this is a local" s bar locals only .If your are an outsider your are not welcome they do not want new customers coming in . If your are a new customer you are frowned upon and are looked at like your are from another planet and to get out and do not come back because you are not welcome . I came in excited to try a new place in the town i just moved to am trying to be friendly and make some new friends well keeping some old ones. I left irritated and disgusted and more than likely will never be back. The Village of Wauconda Police needs to do pop ins more frequently and the State of Illinois needs to get involved along with the Wauconda Police they are doing things that are unethical. Should be shut down and re opened as a rookies with an outside deck with outside seating could be done . Occasionally, I meet up with a friend who lives nearby and we venture out to Sidesouts or Broken Oar in Barrington before ending our night at The Village Inn. We tend to be sociable with the other patrons, although the bartenders can be hit or miss. Unfortunately, we often get cut off after only like 2 or 3 drinks, despite my willingness to spend money on rounds for others as well. My tab usually ends up being around $70 or more, but it seems the establishment is not interested in making more money off me. Much like the last Bar review this far in Wauconda is in the downtown area and is very impressive and almost looks like do you want in Antioch Illinois. The Ville ocean is a cool looking music honky-tonk bar that isn't a great looking Lakeside town of Northern Illinois. While they were not the most impressive beer-drinking list in a bar in this place overall seem to be fun and a favorite among the locals read more

Awesome neighborhood bar that's open late every night. Every time we are in town, this becomes our neighborhood bar for the duration of our trip. The bartenders are friendly and the drinks are good. Prices are fair too. There are multiple TV's, golf, darts and a kick-ass jukebox. This bar has been here forever and the charm is still there. The old wood bar, the old creaky wood floor, the ceiling...awesome. There are quite a few regulars - kind of like a Cheers in Wauconda. The beer selection is very impressive for a small place. They don't have a full kitchen, but if you get hungry there's frozen pizza available for only $8.50 that they will cook for you. Definitely check it out! read more

I had a terrible experience at this bar. On the night I went, I was with a group of friends & we were celebrating a birthday. The second we walked into this place everyone was giving us dirty looks. The bar looked like the hangout for all the town drunks or whatever because we clearly did not feel welcome. The bartenders took a very long time to make us drinks & were rude about it as well. We were being polite & just wanted to check out a new place. This bar seems dingy & old to me. I nor my friends will be returning. read more

I did not like the service of this bar. It was very unwelcoming and very degrading. Employees were insensitive to my needs and those of different beliefs. Although, the bar tenders were very appreciative of their customers, I do not see myself coming back. read more

I absolutely love the atmosphere of this bar. Its low key and generally just a good time. The bartenders are friendly and the prices are good. They even have a decent selection of beers for a place of their size. They have a great jukebox and even darts! The Village Inn is definitely worth a shot! read more

This place is truly an embarrassment to wauconda. Iv never been treated as poorly and with such little respect then at this establishment. First off- the bar tender was taking shots all night with her friends so anytime I wanted a drink, I had to wait for her to finish w her friends. Second, I was the designated driver and while sipping on my ice water, was approached by what looked like a local acting as bouncer. He proceeds to get in my face and tell me that I needed to leave. I asked why and he continued to raise his voice and shove me towards the door. I was so taken back by the situation I just turned and walked toward the door. With my back to the bouncer, facing the door, I suddenly felt another shove and was thrown like an animal out the door. Looking back I should have pressed charges on the "bouncer". I can tell u I will not be visiting this establishment ever again. First time is definitely the last time at the village inn wauconda. read more
