What made the experience even more memorable was the service. Our server was one of the kindest, most thoughtful, and attentive people we've ever encountered. They took the time to answer questions, offer recommendations, and genuinely made us feel welcomed and cared for throughout our meal.

Last night my cousin (not a raw vegan) and I dined there. She enjoyed this beet juice and loved it so much that took two more juices home. I enjoyed their turmeric latte and fresh ginger/lemon teas. My cousin and I shared their falafel and cauliflower wraps and loved it. My cousin truly enjoyed their miso soup. I took a platter of all their desserts to share with my family tonight at my cousins birthday. I also took their two breads and kale chips home and am enjoying them. If you are a raw vegan you don't need any convincing. If you are not and have a lot of misconceptions about how raw vegan food looks like or tastes like I guarantee you, you will not be disappointed.

Do be prepared for a bit of a wait. We came on a Monday at noon and still waited 30 minutes. Lentil Soup Probably the biggest surprise for me. The soup has the perfect texture: silky but substantial. It's well-spiced and reminds me of South Asian flavors (rasam, to be specific). The accompanying bread and pickles were just the cherry on top! Cairo Classic I had low expectations for this dish, since it seems to be 90% beans. But once again, I was shocked by how flavorful everything was. It came with a single falafel, which may be one of the best falafels I've ever had. If I came back, I'd opt for the falafel dish over this one. Maha's Mind-blowing Chicken The chicken really is mind-blowing. I found the form factor a bit confusing, it seems to be more for presentation than practicality. But the flavors are exceptional.

We actually got called in around 20 minutes though, which was great. They asked us if we were okay with a shared/communal table, so maybe that's why it was faster, but the shared tables are not bad at all. We ended up getting seated right in front of the TV while a FIFA game was going on, so the vibes were great. The staff were also super friendly and would stop by to watch and chat for bits at a time. Every time I come, I always order the pad thai and the khao soi. The pad thai is amazing and not too sweet or sour. The khao soi was also delicious and the braised beef was so tender. For drinks, I ordered the Thai iced tea, which is a little on the sweeter side, but was great once the ice melted a little bit. Overall great food, great vibes, would definitely come back!!

The chicken wings were made particularly tasty from the dipping sauce, The beef pad see ew was good. Our fish green curry was excellent. The fish was cooked perfectly. The curry and the soup each come with rice served in a leaf. Although we were full, we ordered the mango sticky rice because it was highly recommended, It was excellent, because the mango was ripe. We waited 35 minutes to be seated and were told the expected time. Once we ordered, the food arrived promptly, water was refilled frequently, dirty plates were removed to make room for dishes. This restaurant is a popular spot with a well deserved reputation. All guests had a good time. Definitely would return.

When the food arrived, the waitress took the time to explain to me how to prepare the dish I had chosen, which helped me because, truthfully, I would not have managed on my own. I don't think the takeout platters are offered for dine in - which is one downside if you would like to eat it in the restaurant. Regardless, a great value for fresh and good cuts of fish for the platters! For take out, we ordered two x seasonal sashimi platters to do a DIY handroll and sushi night at home with some friends. The cuts they gave in the platter were premium pieces such as otoro, chutoro, scallop etc. Highly recommend for a DIY food night at home with family/friends! On the website, if you order and pick up yourself it is $120 for ~40 pieces+ and if you order on uber eats it is $140 per platter. We had a group of 6 so splitting the cost is $40-47 per person which is a great value for good quality fish. For dine in - we ordered a few different items and all were wonderful. I had the Deluxe Maguro Kaisen Don (~$50) and the cuts of tuna (otoro, chutoro) were melt in your mouth. We've also tried their set menus and this came with a variety of dishes. It came with sashimi appetizer, pork belly, your choice of udon (we chose the uni, crab and cream udon), and your choice of don (we chose the wagyu). The set comes with a decent amount of food for only $42, very worth the value and we were full! The uni didn't taste fishy, udon was very creamy, and the wagyu was tender in the don. My sister in law ordered a set with many different small dishes on the plate ($40). It was nice to try different seasonal ingredients and sample it in small portions to try it all. The other occasion we had for dine in was a few years ago, and we both had different set menus with Maguro Toro Don and unagi Don. That set was delicious as well and we thought it was cool to pour a broth into the don bowl at the end to make it like a soup. This restaurant is also half market where they sell to-go food/handrolls/frozen ramen etc. The groceries were mainly Japanese ingredients and snacks. The restaurant itself is not to big so it can fill up quick! I would recommend making reservation if you are coming in a large group on busier nights/weekends. Will definitely return if we are in the area!

The number of vendors is enormous and the choice of meats - beef, chicken, pork, fish, lamb, you name it they have it. They had food stalls that had 50 person line ups. Lots of great reviews on the web for a number of these places and it didn't matter what you were looking for - fruits, veggies, bread, seafood, sandwiches, soups, homemade pasta..... if it isn't here it hasn't been invented or you don't need it. We loved this place. I wish Ottawa could support something like this.

Heads…read moreup that, despite Toronto being a huge immigrant city (50% of its population not born in Canada), ethnic foods are not well represented at the market. But still, this is an exciting place to explore. One of my favorite shops was Mike's Fish Market, which had an incredible variety of smoked fish on display. I was especially attracted to the smoked artic char, but at $50/pound? Even in Canadian dollars, that was intimidating. Oh well, I thought, I will just content myself with a bagel and lox from St Urbain - all the reviews I had read raved about it. So I got in the very long line, and waited and waited and despaired. If you are like me, after a while you start to feel the indignity. Then I had a brilliant idea. I went back to Mike's and asked for four slices of artic char. The price: $8 and change. Then I went to one of the bakeries and bought a Montreal bagel for 0.98c. I found a place at one of the group tables, and made my own bagel and lox! It came to about the same price as I would have paid at St Urbain's, and, although it did not come with the fixings, I had the premium fish I had been lusting after. I am a bit of a purist when it comes to smoked fish - who would want to murder its taste with cream cheese anyway?
