From top to bottom, my experience at Village Nails was just terrible. It's 25 dollars for a mani/pedi combo which is one of the cheaper deals around town, but you are better off spending the extra 5-10 dollars at Nails Touch or Aree for a much better experience. Before I get into the actual mani/pedi, I'll just quickly vent about the interior and the customer service. The staff is extremely unfriendly and rude and there is zero selection of polish. To make matters worse, the polish that they do have they watered down, so if you are going to come here definitely bring your own. It's also just strait up dirty in here. The area for drying your hands is sticky, the hot (or lukewarm in this case) towel that they use on your hands during a manicure has dirt on it and the pedicure chairs are stained and have ripped cushions. These probably should have all been signs to turn around and head elsewhere...but for some reason I decided to stick it out... #regret The pedicure was awful. The outdated (and dirty) chair was not comfortable, the water was cold and there were no jet streams in the water. So basically, my feet were just sitting in a tub of murky water. Normally a pedicure involves some leg and foot massage, but there was none of that here. The manicure was a little more bearable, but because of the watery polish it's now two days later and my nails are already chipping. 25 dollars is a good deal, but that is pretty much the only redeeming quality here. I highly suggest spending the extra 5 or so dollars and venturing to almost any other nail salon in East Brunswick. You won't regret it. read more

Not sure why there are so many negative reviews; I've always had good experiences here. But, full disclosure: I'm way low maintenance. I get 3 or 4 pedicures a year and fewer manicures. No fake nails or any of that crap, so take this review for what's if worth: someone getting a basic mani / pedi once in a while. That said, I always walk in (weekday or super early) and there is usually a short wait (10-20 mins). The staff is always courteous and as friendly as you are (you chat, they chat, you keep quiet, they keep quiet). I've never found it to be anything but clean (unlike another local place where you could see crud and scum floating in the "fresh" bath for your feet!). I've seen them scrubbing down the pedicure tubs/stations and all the equipment goes into those sterilizer thingies. The pedicure is not rushed and includes a nice little leg massage. Nothing crazy fancy, but just enough to be enjoyable. To the comment about the place only being filled with old people... Ummm, what? Every time I'm here I see a wide range of customer ages, from 10 to 60. I guess it depends on what day/time you go. Again, I can't speak to fancier treatments, but if you're after a basic mani/pedi, this place is a good bet and has always served me well. read more

This place is pretty beat. I have never been to a nail salon that was carpeted before. The carpet is worn (indoor outdoor office kind) and taped in spots. There are two huge chandeliers but one looks like it will soon fall to its death due to the major ceiling tile leak. My pedi was pretty solid tho. Lasted a long time. read more

Awful. Awful. Awful. They let you wait and mislead you to how long. They call in technicians as they need them. Telling you someone is on the way multiple times. It's filthy too. I only come here now and then because they look empty and I'm in a rush. Then you come in and commit to soaking your gels off and you have to suffer their bizarre wait for an employee to show up. I got a manicure and pedicure with a gift card so instead of the $25 cash deal, I paid $3 extra with my $25 gift card. This is pretty inexpensive for a manicure and pedicure combo, which is why I wasn't very satisfied with my results. You pay for what you get. I don't expect these women to talk to me or even be polite (as they normally aren't very social), but the older woman who did both my manicure and pedicure barely said two words to me and tapped my feet when she wanted me to put my foot up, down, or into the tub. Usually when I go to a nail salon, they're a little more kind The place wasn't as dirty as past reviews say so they may have cleaned it within the past few years and the massage chairs were comfortable and looked pretty new. My pedicure was a bit rushed but felt nice. The manicure should have been better. I had to ask her to square my nails a bit more because they were so uneven! How can a nail salon not realize someone's nails aren't squared off or even at all? They looked so ragged when she was about to start the polish, so I had to ask her to fix them. After the polish was applied, I dried them and looked at my nails and there was some polish on my fingers, a few bubbles on a few of my nails, and the second coat wasn't applied the same as the first so it just looks like a bad paint job. I could have painted my nails the same myself and I'm not very good at it Overall, I didn't have the best experience but hey, you get what you pay for and I'm a new mom who desperately needed a foot massage, freshly painted nails, and to relax. I walked in at 3:45 pm without an appointment. There were 3 employees each with a customer. One was finishing up and asked me what I wanted. I told her a manicure and a brow wax. At 3:50 she finished her customer and motioned for me to sit down. She asks me to pay so I did, 10+10 plus a 5 tip. She filed my nails and put a drop of cuticle oil on them. Then she started to push them back! Any idea what that feels like to get dry cuticles pushed back? I asked her for the little dish of hot water and she said something like they can't do that anymore. By 4:00 the manicure was done and she runs into the wax room to do my brows and then puts me under the hand dryer. It's now 4:04. A woman comes in who was her 4:00 appointment. Now, this woman got to soak her fingers in the dish of hot water. What gives? Employee sees me looking at this and looks down saying something in Korean to nobody in particular. If I had been told to wait I would have been fine with it but I sure as hell didn't know I was paying for a rush job. Seriously? I should have taken my $25 and gone to the beauty supply store for a pair of tweezers, a nail file, cuticle stock, lotion, and nail polish. The one star is because she did a good job with my brows. I've come here several times a year over the last 20 or so years but the quality has gone way down. I have been going to Village Nails every so often for as long as I can remember (only 2 minutes from my house). I never had a complaint about it, but never would rave about it either, it's a very mediocre nail salon. However, yesterday I went in for a mani/pedi and only two technicians were working. I sat in the pedicure seat for a solid hour and 45 minutes, some of it was due to the actual pedicure, but right before it was time to do the nail polish, my technician sat another woman down and did a full blown pedicure for her and left me sitting there waiting. Then she rushed through my manicure and didn't even clean under my nails for the residue left by the acetone. My nails chipped an hour after I got home from the salon. read more

I stopped for a gel manicure and pedicure one day while passing through the area. A friend who went to RU recommended it and I was happy with my experience. I usually go to less expensive nail salons and I found this one on the higher end of quality and service for that sort of place. The ladies were pleasant and the price ($45 for gel mani and regular pedi) was reasonable. I was asked if the temperature was ok for both the foot bath and the hot hand towel - something that doesn't always happen! I also noticed they use Seche Vite for regular manis which is a nice plus. My passion for food has me writing restaurant reviews 100% of the time but I'll make an exception due to my awful experience I had to endure at Village Nails today. I went to Village Nails a few times in my teens and had a mediocre experience - not anything to make me consider them my "home" salon. These days, I usually go to another (better) salon but they are closed on Mondays so I resorted to having the minor nail repair and polish change done here at Village nails thinking how the hell can they fk up those two basic services. HA. I specifically asked the lady to repair my nail using clue and a thin layer of gel so that my nail bed is reinforced and won't break in the same painful place. She looked at me like I was speaking a different language entirely which didn't provide me with much confidence that she could do the job. After explaining what I wanted twice more, she sat me down after I waited for 15 minutes and proceeded to repair my nail with glue and some powdered top coat. It felt pretty solid when I walked out of the place and she only charged me $8 so I was pretty satisfied. 10 minutes later after slowly searching for my cell in my purse, the same nail cracks again in the SAME place she supposedly repaired. OUUUUCH!!! I called the lady and she said I could come back to get it redone. More time out of my day I didn't bargain for!! Luckily this place is down the street from my house. I ask her to cut the nail down and put a tip on it. She agrees and finishes the job. She says she is going to charge me $4. I didn't mind the charge but I had no more cash on me. I explain this as I hand her my debit card and the lady ROLLS HER EYES AT ME as she takes my card and runs it! That's it for me and this salon. I won't be going back. Went there with my sister this past saturday for a fill in and a pedicure. my pedicure is nice and done well, but my fill in on the other hand is horrible. I got a french and i feel like my 8 year old niece could've done a better job and my nails are already getting bubbles underneath and it's only thursday not even a week later. and they didn't even ask if i wanted uv gel on my nails she just put clear coat on them. I've come here for @10 years off and on because it was cheap and close to work. I decided to try new places after today and reading other reviews on YELP. I usually get mani/pedi. No issues with pedicure. For the past year I sometimes get gel. It always comes off much faster when I get it done here, but my daughter was with me today and I don't take my daughter to the "fancy" spa near us; Mommy deserves a break and I do not believe others want kids around. I also asked for "just color mani/pedi" for my daughter, 8 years old. She has had her nails done here before, spoiled, yes I know. One time when I asked for mani/pedi for her (thinking color) they began to use the pumice stone on her 7 year old foot! There is no callous! So I learned to ask for "just color". Or so I thought I did so today. Again I was charged over $20 to paint her nails. I just wanted the experience for her - this isn't NYC....I can't believe they are charging that much to paint a kid's nails. Twice I had to remind lady "just paint". The polish on my toenails looks thick.....I'm not completely pissed, but not thrilled. Just know that it is time to start to find a new "cheap" place for quick mani/pedi. read more

They put nail glue over your nails and then dipped them in the acrylic powder and that made them less durable. Over priced for such poor quality. They started her pedicure after a half hour and then instead of moving her for a manicure started doing her manicure in that chair at the same time. I had a terrible experience today at village nails. The woman who did my nails did not care at all about doing even a half decent job on literally the easiest nails ever. When asked to fix a nail she brutalized my cuticle so there are literally streaks of my own blood dried into the polish (very light pink- practically clear) on that nail. I haven't had a manicure in ages- but somehow my cuticles look worse now. When I asked her to fix a nail with a jagged point filed into the middle she said something under her breath that I didn't need to understand her language to get the gist of. I told the owner but wasn't even offered to fix the problems. I've had many lackluster manicures but never left so disgusted and disappointed. I keep looking at them and get mad all over again. I'm never going there again and I suggest you do the same! read more
