Hello. I would ask for specifics when it comes to hair. My daughter came e in yesterday with 8 inches of hair all over and we discussed with hairdresser about cut and color. She said with the bleaching and three colors the cost would be between 4 to 5 hundred dollars. After 6 hours, my daughters hair was bleached and never colored. We paid 475 dollars and still had to come back for another bleach treatment and then the three colors. My husband and I were too tired to question the cost after 6 hours and were told to come back to get the other bleach treatment and then add the colors. The only saving grace was it was the best haircut she ever got. I would recommend getting in writing the cost and what was supposed to be done and only pay when the entire job is done. read more

As an update, after two days the manager of the salon called me to rectify the situation. Left a message that she couldn't "put hair back on my head" but would like to rectify. So flippant. The manager rattled on about the inexperience of the stylist who cut my hair. REALLY....why was she seeing clients wihtout supervision. Had I known she was inexperienced and incompetent, I would never have visited this so called salon. My regular salon in Main Line Pennsylvania would never let something like this happen. Confusion when checking in. One person said I had a reservation and the other said they couldn't find it. After 10 minutes they figured out a different stylist was available so I could switch but there would be no time to wash or dry my hair. Not a problem because I had just washed it. The cost was $77.00. Considering my last cut at this salon was $40.00, this was a shock. When I questioned the charge I was told the price went up in April. Janice from Village Salon & Spa called me to see if I was willing to give them a chance to rectify my hair. I really appreciate them reaching out through phone and also via Yelp! It means that they care about their clients and really do want to put out the best results possible. Janice scheduled an appointment with one of their top tier hairstylist, Karen. Needless to say, I was apprehensive about a second time there but I also know that you have to give second chances when someone wants to make something right. I arrived for my appointment and waited for 20 minutes. It was worth the wait because Karen did an amazing job! She toned the color way down for me. Watching her skilled hands adeptly layer my front frames brought so much joy, I'll tell you. Nothing, nothing beats a bomb cut. She blended and evened it all out. I am so thankful! I go to Jenn D. for my highlights/cuts. I am always happy when I leave, she does a beautiful job. They always place a hot towel under your neck when the wash your hair, which feels amazing. The front staff is friendly and the don't push product, but I do get my product from them. I've seen people complain about their prices, but I find them to be comparable to other salons in the area. I can no longer recommend this salon. I've been a client here for awhile now. The stylist I have been seeing is super talented and lovely and does a really nice job but I just received a 1in trim and balayage (and some extra foils too for fairness on time taken) on collarbone length hair. I was charged $363! Then left a $20 tip so the total for this visit was $383. That is highway robbery. I understand inflation and consistently have always visited high-end salons because I value quality work with my hair and will pay for it but this is above and beyond market value. I would suggest this business start to pay attention to consumer habits in this economy because this consumer will not be returning at this price point. read more

I'm changing my rating from 5* to 1* based on several troubling experiences at Village. Most recently, not only was my experience with a hair appointment impersonal due to the stylist multi-tasking with 2 other clients, she left the color on my hair too long and my brown hair was black and my scalp, forehead and neck were burned. It's been more than a week and I'm still dealing with itchy flaky skin. To add insult to injury when I checked out the attendant dismissed my complaint and I've yet to hear back from the Village in response to their customer service survey I completed. Since around March, it has been increasingly difficult to schedule appointments as they've changed their front desk staff. I came here bc it was a recommendation bc I'm new to the area. I saw Ashley. She talked a good talk about getting me blonde. Mind you- I came in with gold/orange hair that was a mess up from another salon and didn't even wanna go back to get it fixed so Ashley told me she would fix it.. and get me lighter.. well after 3.5 hours .. bleach and toner, and a ridiculous amount of product in my hair, I left unhappy.. $230 later, should of been ($270) but they gave me a coupon .. I came home, in the light I couldn't even see the difference of balyage that she said she did.. of course if I stand under bright light I saw a difference.. shampooed it the next day, with my shampoo .. and dried my hair and BOOM GREEN TINTED HAIR! my root she did dark, and it was suppose to be a blonde balyage but it was more mocha/reddish than blonde.. I feel like I overpaid to be disappointed. I defintiely don't wanna go back instead I'm having it done over AGAIN by another salon. just thought I share- over priced place to be disappointed and then wanna schedule you a week later to "fix" you I feel is too long to wait. This salon does not deserve one star! My 14 year old daughter went in to get her just dyed blonde hair toned for $25. She had a little red on the top of her head that she wanted to remove that was it. Jen the colorist if you can even call her that advised she needed more than toning and said the charge would be $60. My daughter called me while Jen was standing right there and I said OK to that price. My daughter kept asking Jen while she was doing her hair "my hair is still going to be blonde right?"Jen assured her yes. When I came to pick my daughter up she was bawling because Jen turned her hair brown. They didn't offer to correct it but they kept asking would we like to book another appointment?! She was completely oblivious to my daughter crying and I asked Jen did you advise her that her hair was going to be brown because this is not what she wanted or came in for? Jen said yes my daughter said no she didn't. Either Jen is a complete idiot or she scammed my daughter to try and get a better tip. The price turned out to be $162 not 60. The only tip Jen needs is find another profession because coloring is not for her. Jen lied about the price and she messed up my daughters hair and nobody at that salon did anything to correct either! I absolutely love this place and am floored by some of these negative reviews. I have been going here for over 6 months and have always had a pleasant experience. Chelsea does a wonderful job with my nails and an even better job on my hair. The other staff members there are always quick to compliment and chat me up while I am getting my services...super friendly. I know some people don't love the tiered fee pricing but I appreciate a place that rewards their best/most experienced personnel. Experience and knowledge is a premium and I have no problem paying a little more for that. I recommend this place to everyone! read more

Extremely slow and tacky sales push. I arrived early for my appointment and was told the nail tech was running 10 minutes late. 45 minutes later, the nail tech was still not done with her previous client and she hadn't bothered to check on me or give me an update on her continued poor time management. I had plans that night and could not wait any longer. I'm not sure why they bother to take appointments if they don't remotely stick to them. At the beginning of my wait, they tried to sell me on their salon products and the sale they were running. I'm not opposed to buying products but I despise when they are pushed on me. Unbelievably horrible experience! Almost two hours for a gel mani appt that turned into a nightmare. Poor filing, virtually no cuticle removal and then just decided to go with a regular mani for fear of gel. Polish was applied so thickly it wouldn't dry. When asked for a refund it was an interrogation. The other kicker was a gel mani is not only $37 but there was an additional $15 cost to remove the gel. I'm very happy with my experience at Village Salon and Spa. I needed to get my hair done while I was here on vacation. I called first thing in the morning and was able to book an appoint the same day. They even called and said I could come in earlier. My stylist Jennifer was awesome! I was thinking about going lighter, but deciding with her input to go darker even though it was the cheaper option. I spent around $150 for cut color and style. I also received at $20 discount and coupons for my next visits. I would definitely drive the two hours to get my hair done again. read more

I had a standing weekly appointment with Marquita for a manicure, loved loved loved her. However, as she went from one "tier" to another, the price the desk charged me kept going up. Question for me is why do I have to pay more because an employee is being promoted, the business should take care of them! So what started as a $20 service with $5 tip became a $30 service, then tip. My opinion of this place is one that you want to read. This salon is such a rip off! Asked me to pay before my foil wrapped highlights were even taken out. Charged me 290.00 for a cut and highlights! Sold me shampoo but when I looked in the bag it was not what I wanted and it was 78.00! Be sure to get in writing what your service will cost you. They up charge their clients in very tricky ways. Don't let them talk you into anything extra you don't want or need. My service should have only cost me 169.dollars, at least that's what their crazy tip machine told me. Funny that my daughter went with me and her highlights were 290. also. And her hair looked like she didn't have anything different done to it. So disappointed! They said they couldn't fix it because it would harm her hair. Horrible service. After waiting for 30 minutes for my scheduled appointment, my hair turned out absolutely NOTHING like what I asked for. I was at salon for several hours, actually there after their closing time. After my stylist was complete, you could not hardly tell that she dyed my hair, only took off half an inch. I'm still finding dead ends. I paid $300 for this service. I called afterwards regarding my service as I was in shock when they had told me my total. The person I spoke with offered me $20 store credit, I'm not returning there. She then offered a consultation with the stylist, Karen, I originally met with to have my hair FIXED. It shouldn't have to be fixed, I should have had the color I asked for in the first place. She actually informed me that Karen is the educator for the coloring. Please be informed of this place, if Karen is the educator and can mess up this easier dye job, please be cautious!!! $300 down the drain. read more

Choose another salon in Lewes or Rehoboth. Village Salon is a rip off. RUN!!! I made a reservation for a pedicure at the suggestion of a friend. I was told over the phone that my price was $55 and since I was a new client, I would receive $20 off, so the pedicure would pay for itself at $35...exact words. Upon check out, I was told $55, but since I booked with a level 3 (or whatever tier she is) rep, my pedicure was $75, with $20 off! The cashier goes on to explain that they have tiered reps and base their fees on the person you choose....and then (with a squinched face) says, so sorry that wasn't explained. REALLY?!@?!! Now had I not just come from the orthodontist and feeling horrible because of oral surgery, I would have pressed the issue and asked for management. But according to the yelp management reviews, that would have been a waste. The service and pedicure from Tami was good, but I get "good" service at other local places. read more

We were not informed of this when the appointments were scheduled and weren't given choices. My daughter-in-law was surprised at how much more her bill was and questioned. I was a loyal customer here for over 5 years. I never had a complaint before and I've even referred clients to them. But recently I politely mentioned a problem with a service I had and when I did I was treated with complete disdain by the manager. I have never been treated so rudely at a business before. Some of the staff is nice and professional but I mainly went there for the convenience. It's very pricy and they never even bother to have hot coffee for customers. They are also very pushy about selling their products. Several of my friends have complained about this. If I had been treated with an ounce of respect I would not have made this public complaint but since I was treated so poorly I will never step foot in this place again. Nobody should be treated the way I was treated and certainly not a regular customer. Don't be fooled by the newly renovated interior and smiling faces! These people have no idea how to run a business or provide customer service. read more
