My husband and daughter took our new car for test drive and happened to pass by Bedford Post Tavern so the following day we came in for brunch. What a beautiful place. Katie, who is so sweet and extremely attentive, had our table. Based her recommendations, we ordered the pancakes, parfait, and steak and eggs. All the dishes were very good. The pancakes were phenomenal. While the bloody Mary was excellent in flavor, I do like mine a little more full-bodied with a little more tomato juice. This was a great find and we will definitely return and hopefully Katie will be there, as she made this visit very pleasant. read more

My family and I found ourselves at Bedford Post Tavern for an early Fathers Day dinner. I had heard about this place sometime last year when it first opened, but it was never really on my radar. Nevertheless, my dad suggested we try it - and since I'm never one to turn down a new dining experience I booked a table and we made our way over. As the name suggests, BPT is located in Bedford. It's actually one of the onsite restaurants for the Bedford Post Inn - I was browsing their website and it looks like a super luxe place to stay (then again, Bedford so...). While the name suggests that the restaurant is a tavern, there's really only a standard bar in the first room upon entry to the restaurant. We were seated in one of the side rooms which was very nice but did not have a tavern feel at all. The space was open and airy with a bright, neutral color scheme and light woods throughout. The menu isn't too large, and contains mostly elevated American fare separated by snacks, apps, mains, and sides with an additional raw bar selection. We decided to start with two snacks - namely the popovers and smoked trout croquettes. I did not partake in the croquettes, but the popovers were pretty good. They were huge and paired with a honey butter that provided a nice complement. The consistency of some of them were a little off, though - to the point where one of them did not pop fully and came to the table cold in the middle; we brought it to their attention and they quickly rectified it. For my app I went with the heirloom tomatoes - this was in fact a burrata that was paired with the tomatoes and watermelon. This was good, the ingredients were fresh and the melon paired well with the melon. The cheeseburger was speaking to me so I decided to go with that for my main - this was a relatively simple burger paired with cheddar, raw onion, and tomato. It also came with fries that were paired with ketchup and dijonnaise to dip. The burger was tasty, and I appreciated the raw onion and unmelted cheese as it added texture and prevented the cheddar from sweating. The fries were also really good - just overall a solid dish. We opted for dessert; I had the cornbread sundae which was delicious - creamy ice cream paired with blueberries and "corn soil" (ie, crumbled cornbread) mmmm. Service was good - everyone was really friendly and made us feel super comfortable. I do feel they need to fine-tune some of the details; in addition to the popover issue I mentioned, there was a slight delay in my mother's app coming out (pet peeve of mine). Also, my dad and I both ordered the burger but cooked to different degrees - upon inspection I noticed they gave us each other's burgers; a simple swap resolved that but I'm glad I inspected the burgers first. Overall, we had a really good experience at Bedford Post Tavern - I'm always nervous dining out on holidays but they really came through. The food, service, and aesthetics were all solid. I wouldn't hesitate to return for another meal. read more

We came here to celebrate my husband's birthday and the food was amazing. We started with the seafood tower and the shrimp and oysters were amazing. We also liked how it came with salmon ceviche and tuna tartare. They both were great and tasted so fresh. We then got the fried olives, which I wouldn't get again, as well as the onion tart which was amazing and very different. Next we got the branzino which was so good and the skin was perfectly crispy. We also got the steak, which was cooked perfectly and tender. I would recommend both of these main dishes. Lastly, we got the cookies and milk and lemon tart and both were good. Manager Jorge Alvarez and server Betsy Saevedra turned a potential disaster into a perfect evening. We arrived to a packed restaurant with a large party already there, and a system error had lost our reservation entirely. Jorge and Betsy handled it with such grace, warmth, and professionalism that my date and I genuinely blown away. They immediately welcomed us, offered a lovely glass of wine, and made us feel like VIP guests rather than an inconvenience. Excellent brunch buffet! Amazing fresh seafood of shrimp, lobster, oysters, salmon and salmon crudo. There is an omelette station, full breakfast station, fruits, salads, pastries, bagels and desserts. The Prime Rib was cooked perfectly served with au jus and choice of sauces. A destination brunch spot, so it feels special to begin with. I've had dinner at the restaurant but first time at the tavern for brunch. Love the menu and the execution. Fun ambiance but the layout with tables is a little squishy. Service is very good but does lack that feeling of hospitality, which you'd expect from relais & chateau. A few overall notes: playlist was not dialed in while we were there, lots of shuffling around and skipping of songs, which can break the mood a bit. Also, I very much dislike the outdoor smoke pit outside the tavern. It is usually light on the fire and heavy on the smoke. They should switch to a smokeless version. I don't enjoy getting nicely dressed and then leaving with stubborn smoke smell on my hair and jacket. Last, the parking is strange during events. Why can't they open up more? Parking is usually the first touch point, and it doesn't seem professionally managed, and often creates confusion for guests. read more

There was only a few menus for a crowded restaurant. Not enough staff. we waited at least 30 minutes for our orders which were cold when received . the table was so crowded that our plates were half on table and half on our chests. Plus we had to ask for check three times . we came here it was highly recommended and had good reviews. This place is a disaster. I can only hope it's growing pains as I believe the current management has only been running the place for a few months. The menu was a joke. I couldn't com up with a more basic and boring menu if I tried. I had to beg for water. Even sparking water that I was happy to pay for by the bottle. When it came it was warm so then it took me another 15 minutes to get a glass of ice. And they were not that busy. I was close enough to the bar and server station to see people standing around doing nothing as I begged for water. And then we had to beg for salt as the food was woefully under seasoned. They also brought us the wrong food. Not even close to what we ordered. And I was at a two top. I will say the desert was incredible. But I can great deserts at Stew Lenard's. The cozy, rustic vibe was so good I didn't want to leave, every plate we shared was incredible, and the service was impeccable. Alex took amazing care of us, and shout out to the manager, Coleman, who went above and beyond. I've been dining at Bedford Post Tavern regularly since they reopened last year, and I can honestly say it's one of the best things to happen to our local dining scene. The food is consistently excellent -- highlights for me include the mushroom toast, the heirloom tomato, watermelon & burrata salad, the garlic shrimp, and both the chicken and the steak, which are always cooked to perfection. I haven't tried the burger yet, but it looks incredible every time I see it go by. Desserts are next-level -- the cornbread sundae in particular is unforgettable. And the cocktails are top-notch. I'm genuinely surprised when I see negative reviews. It honestly makes me wonder if some of those people actually dined here -- or if it's just the unfortunate reality of online reviews where great places can get unfairly dragged down. Every experience I've had has been warm, welcoming, and delicious. It feels like we finally have a NYC-quality restaurant right here in our neighborhood. Thrilled to keep supporting them. read more

Just experienced a truly incredible meal, one of the best I've had in a long time. The mushroom toast, popovers, and lobster pasta are incredible. For dessert, the cornbread sundae is non-negotiable. Possibly the best ice cream I've ever had. The service was outstanding, Sarah was an incredible server. So warm and welcoming, and we really appreciated getting to know her as well as the fantastic manager Nelson. We had our company Christmas party there last night. They gave us the private, wine cellar room. We had a separate sitting room with a fireplace and our own private bathroom. The whole experience was simply superb. Family style food selections, including Short ribs which was the best I ever had. Also have a great sommelier . I came here on a Sunday for an early lunch. I enjoyed the ambience outside on the patio area. Our server was very sweet and attentive. However, I was disappointed with the food. The menu is rather limited. I would have liked if there were a few more options to select from. I ordered the burger (medium) but it was over cooked. It was your average burger. There was really nothing special about it. I also had a cinnamon roll which was ok, but a little dry. Unfortunately I will not be back based on the food. The current star count has to be in error. Perhaps it's a product of the former restaurant in the hotel that went out of business 2 years ago. Maybe it's jealous competitors in the area because I can say with confidence it was the best meal we've had in northern westchester/Fairfield county in the last 6 months. It was also the most chic scenes I've seen in sleepy Bedford. Every table was full with beautiful people late into the night on a Saturday. We had the popovers, onion tart (sleeper hit), salmon ceviche, stuffed lobster (perfectly cooked and the half size is more than enough), branzino and burger (exceptional, dry age flavor with McDonald's worthy fries - and I mean that in the best way). This restaurant has a ton of issues. They sat us 70 minutes after our reservation time. Took 45 minutes to get a drink once we got there. Employees clearly untrained had NO idea what they were doing. This could be the worst dining experience that we've ever had. The staff, especially the management and front of house staff is downright rude, obnoxious, and has an air of arrogance about them. It's super reminiscent of what you would find in NY city, where they have this attitude of doing you a favor by giving you a table. I absolutely refuse to go back and give these people my hard earned money. No restaurant survives in this space, but this is the first time we've ever had an experience where we have totally written off a restaurant to the point where we would NEVER try it again. If you're in the service business, you need to be nice to your customers. Dine at your own risk. The food is beyond mediocre and the drinks are weak to top it all off. Absolutely no reason to go out and spend money to be treated poorly. read more
