I met up with friends at Village Social for dinner and we had an enjoyable experience! The servers were friendly, the food was very good, and we weren't rushed at all which was appreciated. Ordered: Crispy artichokes ($15)- these were fried and tasty with a creamy yogurt sauce. Nothing crazy or exotic flavor wise, but enjoyable. Polenta bites ($12)- I really enjoyed these! They were a little salty, a little smoky (bacon) and a little sweet (honey). I will say that I strongly recommend Village Social either update their menu or change the toppings, as these polenta bites were topped with crispy bacon but the menu did not indicate this. Vegetarians in our group didn't realize this dish wasn't vegetarian. Chicken Milanese ($28)- the portion was very generous! It came with a large chicken breast and I requested to change the salad on top to Caesar. I appreciated their willingness to modify the order. We've been frequent customers of Village Social because the food is genuinely very good. Yes, it's overpriced, but we've continued coming back because we've usually enjoyed the overall experience. Unfortunately, the service has always been hit or miss, and our most recent visit was by far the worst. Our waiter, an older gentleman, was incredibly rude and seemed like he didn't want to be there. He was abrupt, had a dismissive attitude, and made us feel uncomfortable asking for anything--as if he was doing us a favor by serving our table. The most shocking part came at the end of the meal, when he made a loud comment about not being tipped enough. Excuse me--for what? Good service earns good tips. Rudeness does not. This experience completely overshadowed what was otherwise a good meal. I hope management pays closer attention to the staff they hire and train, because poor service like this drives away loyal customers. read more

Stopped here on our way to a ski trip and I am willing to drive the hour+ just to have another meal here. We got lucky with no wait for a table for 4, prime dinner time on a Friday night. The hostess was super friendly and so was everyone else after that. Honestly so blown away by how friendly all the staff were. We were checked on multiple times and our main waiter was just awesome. On to the more important things - the food. Wow. The menu is not overwhelmingly large and truly has something for everyone. Pizzas, sandwiches, pasta, and seafood. Bonus: the mac and cheese on the kids menu is NOT kraft mac and cheese. We had grilled cheese, mac and cheese, mushroom pizza and fish tacos and wow. Not only did the food come out fast but it was delicious and portions were huge. I was so impressed with this place. My family and I went to eat dinner there last night. We usually go to the one in Mount Kisco but we were in the Rye area so we decided to give it a try. I ordered one of their specials which I loved. I had the blackened shrimp tacos, my husband ate the salmon and my son of course ordered his favorite chicken tenders with fries. The food was hot and fresh. I also ordered the summer sangria and it was delicious !!! The service took a bit because it was super crowded. Stopped at Village Social on our way home from LaGuardia Airport to upstate, Delaware County. I had already checked out the restaurant on Yelp, and was happy with the reviews and the menu had plenty of choices for us. Our waiter was phenomenal, attentive and friendly. We ordered a salad and poke bowl and he had the kitchen split both items n half which worked perfectly. The portions were huge! Mother's Grain salad and Tuna Poke Bowl. Both dishes were delicious. Amazing food and great service. I was in a party of 6 and we tried almost every appetizer and had a great variety of entrees. Everything was great! After my friend Jason M. and I were turned away from an original spot we decided on because their 'summer dining hours changed', we fine-tooth combed the town and Village Social made the cut. Plus he and I have never been. Set in a super casual spot, Village Social's inside has bistroish mini floor tiles, grey+black interior with large, overhead light fixtures. This turned out nice for our early catch-up dinner. But it can also be for like a birthday, lunch or almost anything in between. Since I almost devoured the Polenta bites appetizer at their Mount Kisco location, I wanted to relive that. Edible, but these folks didn't completely make it happen. While the Butter+Honey flavors were present, what I got was soft tofu consistency- instead of firm. My 3, heftily filled fish tacos were good and actually liked the significant protein used in the dish without the cabbage+veggies taking over. Service was fine. I wasn't obsessed with the food execution here. Their other Village Social meals in Mount Kisco gave me a lot of "oohs" and "ahhhs" a year ago- but I guess I don't stray away too much when I write that this location's food wasn't all that either. read more

I had been a minute since I caught up any of my Yelp friends IRL, and a dinner and drinks rendezvous with Mercedes C. was long overdue. After some discussion as to where we should go, we ultimately decided on Village Social. The name sounded familiar to me, I feel like the name or one similar to it had swept across my Yelp feed. Anyway, I was looking forward to trying out a new place and catching up, so off we went. Village Social is located on Purchase St - which looks like the main commercial strip in Rye. Once I arrived the name finally clicked - they have another location in Mt. Kisco that I passed by recently, I knew this place looked familiar. Anyway, the restaurant has a neutral facade, and the interior gives way to a really comfortable space. The aesthetics are contemporary, with opposing dark and light color schemes; it kinda reminds me of those memes that show starter packs for "hot new restaurant in town". It was all good though, and we sat by the window which gave us a lot of natural light. The menu had a lot to choose from - there were a lot of sections but not too overwhelming. Salads, apps, mains, pizzas, sandwiches - they seem to be touching a wide variety of cuisine. We both had a drink - I forgot the name of mine but it had blueberries, vodka, and lemonade; it was delicious - lots of blueberry flavor which was a winner for me. For food, we decided to start with two apps: the burrata crostini and the polenta bites. These were both pretty good - the crostini was paired with mushrooms and and a pea puree which added to the depth of flavor (burrata itself does not have the most flavor). The polenta bites were fine - they were doused in honey but it all pooled to the bottom of the bowl, and were too soft for my personal taste; they would have been better if they were crispier on the exterior. For my main I went with the spicy chicken sandwich which I found to be just fine. The sandwich was paired with an aioli and pickles which complemented the flavor of the tangy sauce and chicken, however I noticed they used what looked like processed chicken (dare I say frozen?) in lieu of an actual chicken breast. This was a little disappointing, and took away from the quality of the dish for me. The fries were good, they were the thin shoestring kind which is one of my favorite fry types. We opted for dessert, and I went with the salted caramel pie. This was pretty good - there was good caramel flavor without being too sweet, and the strawberries it came with provided a nice reprieve from the relative richness of the pie. Service was good, everyone we interacted with was friendly. Overall, I had a fine experience at Village Social - the food was good, but I didn't find it to be particularly noteworthy. I think this place is best suited for locals - if I lived in the area I would be a repeat customer. However, I wouldn't necessarily go out of my way to return. read more

Our friends took us here and wow! Amazing food! Everything was exceptional. The polenta appetizer is to die for and the cauliflower main dish was so flavorful, my husband and I agreed those were some of the best dishes we have had in a while. The polenta was buttery and crispy and sweet and savory. The cauliflower had like a thousand flavors in there, spicy, coconutty, curry, Indian, Thai. It was HUGE. We split the leftovers for lunch. As an appetizer, we ordered the mussels and for entrées, I got the sunny side up egg pizza and my friend got the fish tacos. The mussels arrived in a wonderful wine broth which was garlicky and delicious. yum! My sunny side up egg pizza was perfect, with a crunchy yet pillowy crust. Lots of truffle shavings and truffle oil. The egg cracked perfectly and it was delicious! The fish tacos were equally delicious, yet a bit sloppy to eat. One of my new favorite restaurants in Rye for various reasons. The food is excellent, from the appetizers to the entrees. One of my favorite appetizers is the Polenta Bites with honey and brown butter. The butter gives the dish a unique taste. The two recent dishes that I have had were the Vintage Burger and The Spicy Honey Chicken Sandwich. Both are great for lunch and late lunch meals with the aioli sauces paired with them. The uniqueness of the Spicy Honey Chicken with the aioli sauce was delicious, and it is not highly spicy to those with sensitive palettes. For the Vintage Burger, the aged cheese with the caramelized onions gives the burger its favor. As for service, the waiters and waitresses are attentive to your needs. Kind and willing to check if they can accommodate your food palette and allergies. I have been to this restaurant with a group of 3 (including myself). We served quickly in the busy lunch hour and slow dinner hour. read more

What we had : appetisers : 1) fried polenta fingers - very good , a little on the sweet side, fried to perfection 2) pastrami egg rolls -that was quite creative . The combination of the pastrami , the cheese and the crispy dough was wonderful 3) fried shishitsu peppers were excellent - large and juicy , with a dip of lemon on top Entries : 1) sunny side up pizza - that was the star of the meal - incredible thin pizza with rich ingredients . They sure know how to make their pizzas ( I think it's an easy 7.8 on the Dave port boy scale ) 2) tuna poke bowl - boring too excited here , I will pass 3) farro salad - had fresh ingredients and had a great seasoning and dressing Service was very attentive. So if there was a 2 1/2 that's were we'd land. Space and presentation of the food was fine. Taste and other preparation things came up for us, here we go: Tuna Tartare: well presented. I'm all for the ingredients speaking for themselves however the tuna was lack luster for sure. Little salt, pepper, light miso, anything to chef it up. Nothing overpowering but the lack of seasoning was evident. Polenta bites were fine. Not my thing as I would have preferred a lighter batter for polenta. But they were OK. Fish tacos .... The rub. Everyone is doing them. Do them well. Elements of the dish were just cold or tasteless. Give the tortilla a flash of heat or a dab but they were straight out of the fridge from the Mission bag. Lettuce/slaw was also like this but that would be fine if the protein had some .... Wait for it ... flavor. Char from the grill, lil salt and pepper, something to add to the profile outside of white fish that can use a boost sometimes. Again, nothing over powering, just chef it. The food is the worst combination of overpriced and underwhelming. The completely flavorless - and undercooked - fish tacos were the low point of dinner. Im fairly certain these tacos do not feature a speck of salt or any other seasoning. The bulk of the taco was some sort of flavorless lettuce slaw. Other lowlights included chicken wings that were some hybrid of baked and fried - in reality a lightly sauced sponge-like breading coating what were, at least, meaty wings. Very surprised to see so many positive reviews of this restaurant, as it may be the worst spot I have yet to try in Westchester. Our car broke down in Rye on the way back from my father's funeral in MA. We had to find a place that was accommodating as I prepped for a virtual meeting while we waited for AAA to pick up our truck. What could have been a nightmare ended up being an easy experience. The team here did not seem put off at all with my "Can I plug my laptop in? What's your WiFi?" And "Can I sit at a table outside so I can be heard on my meeting?" In fact, they went above and beyond, giving me water and ensuring me I was not a bother. We tried the Burger and fries and guacamole w/chips. The fries were seriously delicious ... shoestring... light, salty... crisp.... And they also have awesome happy hour food and drink specials. When we finally were able to figure out our life by getting a Lyft home, the morning and evening bar service was fluid and seamless. They picked up with us right where the other left off... giving us a splash of wine on the house as we waited for our car. Good food and drink is very important for a restaurant. But what really stands out with this business is their exceptional "above and beyond" service. My partner and I have been in the business of hospitality in NYC for 15+ years now and we know it's tough to maintain that high standard of accommodation with service. We went here on Mother's Day for a late lunch and it was a very relaxing and casual meal. I could see how the space could liven up during the nighttime hence the restaurant name. Our service was decent throughout the entire meal, with waiters checking up on us toward the beginning, but toward the end when we stopped ordering things, we were not receiving water anymore. I had to walk to the waiter's area and grab a glass bottle myself for the table. The food on the other hand was great! Everything was flavor packed. I'm not vegetarian, but I decided to try the Crispy Kale & Avocado Tacos and they were delicious especially with the lime. The odd shape of the fries were also delicious. The tuna tartar was much better years ago, it now feels much less fresh and feels like it was cut, too much lemon squeezed on and refrigerated for a while, taking away from the fresh taste. Would not recommend ordering it. Cocktails are excellent but be careful they put a ton of ice and very little actual cocktail so you'd need 3 to get a buzz.
