Its a cool place. These grilled chicken and nachos were very very good. This place also had the classic tavern/sport like feel to it.

I came into Cincinnati for work. I headed over to Village tavern bc their website says the kitchen closes at 10pm. I got there at 9:30pm (went straight there after getting in town). I walk in, the bartender walks up right away. I ask to order food, she tells me that the kitchen closed at 9pm. Either their website is wrong or she lied about the time, so the kitchen didn't have to make food. Terrible service. Bartender was incredibly un-personable and unapproachable...made us feel like it was an inconvenience to ask for anything, even as simple as a refill on beer, despite the fact that the bar was nearly empty (during happy hour). On top of that, she refilled our beer in the same plastic cups. When we ordered wings and asked what sauces they had, she grabbed a menu and put it on the bar and said, "they're right here." There were like 6 sauces, but I guess she couldn't remember them. It was evident that others felt her service was terrible as well when we saw them move to a different part of the bar. Oh, and apparently they never clean under the bar...there was gum stuck all over, all the way down the bar. Nothing more appetizing than that! Great happy hour drink/food specials, good quality food, BAD service. I went to Village Tavern for a few drinks with friends at happy hour on a Wednesday over the holidays. At first, the venue was perfect - drink and food specials, sports on tv, not too loud, etc. But at some point the music came on and it was blaring (although we were sitting in a corner table right by a speaker) dance/hip hop hits, which did not suit the time of day or the clientele (there was a family, a senior group, professionals catching a drink after work). It was also $1 taco night, which was great, but there was no wait service to collect the order sheets so you had to wait in line at the bar to give your order (it had started to pick up at this point). Also, when the bartender delivered two orders of food to our table, she didn't know the difference between the orders, stating that "it is not her job." Granted, she is a bartender and it was busy - I blame the ownership/bar itself for its poor service. read more

This is a great dive bar to go to with friends. It is usually busy on the weekends. Local crowd and everyone is friendly. Prices are reasonable, service is ok, and the good is average. read more

First time here. My hubby and I came because a friend's band had a gig. Tables on the band side were already filled, so we opted to sit on the smaller side which also has a bar. We ordered off the menu. Heard they have a good burger, so of course we had to try them - mine with sautéed mushrooms and cheddar with a side of fries. Hubby got one with shrooms, cheese (can't remember what kind), and onions with onion rings on the side. Both med rare. Mine was delicious and cooked as requested. Juicy but not too messy or greasy. Fries were good too, but I liked the onion rings better. The fries were the kind that kind of bubble up on the outside. Not sure why or how that happens. HUGE wait time on the food order. Think we waited at least half an hour for our food. Could have been 40 mins. Bartender kept apologizing, and he was friendly and attentive without being overly so. They had a beer bucket special - 5 for $10! Great deal. I would go back though it was pretty noisy and seating can be an issue. read more

Went here for a 30th birthday party. Not only was the wrong room was reserved for us, but our food orders were incorrect. Bar food, ok, but s burger isn't that difficult to make and the famous Saratoga chips were cold and stale. Yes there were only 15 of us but this smaller room was not conducive for partying or dancing. Then there was the tab at the bar, so we kept having to go down stairs to place our orders and had to compete with the other patrons for service. Nice place, nice atmosphere but I won't be recommending it to anyone. read more

Karaoke at its finest on Wednesday night. Kind of tricky to figure out where the action is because the main entrance is from a different bar. There was an extra treat since it was the celebration of Halloween and apparently a young ladies birthday. Let just say she spent most of her time on the floor from all the free drinks she received. Bartenders were very accomodating which made the experience that much better. The drinks were never dry and the tab proved it. read more

I've been here for happy hour and a laid back night out for a couple drinks. I've never been disappointed. By far one of the best happy hour spots! It lasts til 8pm!! They have a cute little patio in the back..you will have to show up early to get a spot out there. I got their soft pretzel sticks and cheese during happy hour one night. So so yummy!! We love Justin and Stevie. Although, they say they are new, they are super professional and accommodate our funny drink requests. Meh, describes my feelings for this bar. On a weeknight it's an ok place to go have a drink with friends. But on Friday nights it attempts to turn into a nightclub with a DJ who plays rap songs that were popular circa 2006. On the weeknights they have drink specials that are very good deals. Friday's none at all past happy hour. If you attended Sycamore High School, be prepared to see your former classmates. It's like a high school reunion. Village Tavern earns 3 stars on a weeknight but only 2 on a weekend. If they had a better quality DJ they could bump up to 3 stars on the weekends too. read more

Ok I agree with the reviews. The bar staff is rude as hell. Went in for a drink maybe total of 5 people in bar. First waitress never acknowledged us or even spoke a word in our direction. Totally ignored us. After 15 minutes another waitress walk over and she ignored us. After another 10 minutes when we were about to leave, she asked did we want anything. No hello or anything. Never offered us menus or asked if we wanted anything to eat. After one drink we left and will never return. read more

Questioned twice about my ID and the door guy told me my ID was expired, when it says 2016. Then he had me and a friend come back and compared our IDs after letting us in. The door guy later came back towards our table and gave us a strange look. Frustrating considering it was me and a few friends sitting quietly watching TV while having a drink. And that one drink is the last I will be having there. Unbelievable for a place that was not even that busy to have that sort of disposition towards its customers. I should note the people at the bar were quick and friendly, but the door guy could go. Always like this place until New Years eve night. My boyfriend and I and my friend and her boyfriend all went there and we arrived around 11 o'clock and around 1130 we were kicked out because a tall skinny bouncer with a beard came up to my friends boyfriend and accused him of groping of some girl and then wouldn't tell us who the girl was or when it happened .. he just kicked us out and was very rude to me. The guy accused was with his girlfriend the whole time. We were all standing there having such a good time until the bouncer came up to us .. we were all so confused.. But he was relentless and very rude he actually grabbed me by the arm hard and told me to leave. I don't know if the bouncer got him mixed up with another guy or if he just wanted to start trouble but it was just out right wrong . And when I asked to speak to the manger he told me no. A group of 4 entered Village Tavern and we were asked for an I.D. We are all between the ages of 56 - 62. What a joke! The doorman would not let us in since we did not have I.D.'s. We had other people joining us and we called them to let them know we could not enter Village Tavern. Very unprofessional! Make sure you have your ID with you no matter what age you are! Had to go from the table to the bar to get a drink. Not what we wanted to do after working a12 hour shift. Don't think we will be back. My friends and i went to have drinks at this place, first of all we are not from this country,the bartender took 30 mins to serve us and expected us to give her a tip. I have been having an function at this location for several years. This year they wanted a deposit but instead of applying it to the bill they would give a gift certificate for future spending. After going back and forth they did not charge the deposit. The evening of the event they added an expensive food item that was not ordered. This cost over $100. One can only assume it was a back-handed way of getting their deposit money. Bottom line they did not initially respond to our complaints and will not refund the money. The owner should have a better idea of hiring decent mature staff with his years of experience here, at Mt. Adams and other locations. I am going to agree with many of the other reviews that you can have basically a bartender staff that is selfish and doesn't really care about their customers. I recently went on a Wed night and I saw and heard the Front bartender yelling and telling a customer to Shut Up. The gentleman wasn't intoxicated and the issue had something to do with checking ID's. We have to be reasonable and not expect to card clients in their 40's. If this is a Management practice then it is stupid. Additionally it is tacky if you are out of a certain beer such as a draft Summer shandy. A Manager should be on top of supplying menu items. The Female Bartender was very rude and acted like customers were in her living room. I have seen this attitude very often over the years. I have also seen Bars-Resturants go out of business over the years. This kind of a attitude is wrong and disconcerting. No one wants to be in the prescence of bitchy behavior. I can see how customers will go to other establishments because the Servers are more friendly, not just nice to 20 something friends that they would like to hook up with. If you want to make more money treat your customers with respect and do not cater to foolish policies such as carding ALL Adults, including Seniors. read more
