I ordered the $17 seafood salad with "grilled shrimp" and it was the worst, most over-priced salad I've ever had. The shrimp had clearly been frozen, and was rubbery and flavorless. The iceberg lettuce was sad and sprinkled with two cherry tomatoes, a cut up bell pepper, some red onion and a few black olives. For $17. If you want much better tasting food for your money, eat at the Harp & Habit. Service was nice though. read more

Moved away for about 20 years. Returning to the Valley and coming back to The Ville was not only nostalgic, but worth the trip down memory lane! I am from 6 hours away, I asked the hotel for restaurant recommendations. I did not originally take their recommendations but I went with a local co-worker. Walked into the Ville, about 6:55pm on a Tuesday night. Got sat immediately and received my water exactly at 7:02pm, when I texted a co-worker thank you for recommending the location. I waited for 16 minutes and NO ONE came back to ask me for appetizers or ordering. I got up and left. By far the WORST restaurant I have EVER been to. We have given it a few different tries to...but it gets worse each time. Their "fresh" chicken salads are for sure reheated "mystery meat" of some sort. Their nachos are nothing short of something you could find at my 5 year old's soccer games with the "cheesey" yellow sauce out of a can. The "fresh fish" is horrible and will definitely turn your stomach in a second. To top it off, their servers (Specifically a gentleman named Christian) are incredibly rude. We specifically asked all of them if the food was fresh or frozen and they all claimed it was fresh. After years of working in a restaurant myself, you can definitely tell the food is reheated. The only thing going for them right now is the somewhat cold beer. The ambiance is awful and the sticky tables and menus are a huge turnoff. I've eaten at The Ville many times, and have never had a bad meal. The salads are fantastic! Too big for 1 person to finish. I've had the beer battered cod, and it was fresh and delicious, with a load of fries and some yummy coleslaw. Everything I have has been great. The only reason for 4 stars is I wish they would come up with some different dishes and cut back on the sandwich menu. More grilled options would be great and more fish/seafood. read more

The food here is good for the area, without being great. Portions are large, and service is friendly even if it is slow during busy times. That's fine with me. We're in Steubenville; where are we rushing off to, anyway? It's pretty standard American fare, so it is a good place to go if you have a lot of people in your party. Everyone will find something to their liking on the menu. The prices are very reasonable, and the portions are large enough that sharing isn't a bad idea. Mashed potatoes seemed instant, and meat can be a little on the tough side, but not always. The salads always have very fresh ingredients, although there is usually red onion overkill happening. Thinner slices would let the red onions work with the salad instead of fighting it; such a simple solution. Fountain drinks are refilled attentively. I have not tried any drinks from their bar. Conveniently located at the mall, it's a nice place to have a little dinner before a movie or while recovering from frenzied shopping at the Macy's one day sale (ONE DAY! - man, I love that sale). read more

Can I give it a half a star less? We quit going here all together a while ago because of the low quality food (tough and terrible), high prices as well as that the Ville never appreciating our business anyway (I don't know that they really appreciate anyone's business). Service was slow and poor often. Again, the food is way overpriced (so are the drinks at around 8 bucks per drink) with the only redeeming thing that makes it a half star restaurant is the zucchini planks and anyone can make those well (it's not rocket science... its a vegetable people!) Got sick on more than one occasion after eating their along with my family (they leave stuff laying around longer than it ever should, then feed it to you! Just ask the waitresses how fresh it really is! No kidding!). We left on multiple occasions because no one would seat us while standing at the door where the hostess is never at. We also hit the bar when we finally gave up a few times only to often be sitting by drunks that kept bugging us to buy then drinks (and put us in the middle of arguments with the server over them needing to be cut off!). We won't discuss the smell. If you go there it's filled with drunkin people at the bar pretty EARLY. I can't say anything good about this place. It's gone way downhill over the years. Time to consider new everything! John Taffer should spend some serious time there! Poor management that thinks they are the only game in town. Get over yourself. It's a mall bar/restaurant. Go to Froehlich s instead... You'll be really glad that you did. Update: It has been ten days since this post and they care so little that no response was ever given. The service was good. The portions are very small. I ordered a steak salad and it was lettuce fries and a few pieces of steak. The price was $10.95. I'd rather pay more to keep the portions that the Ville is known for. When the portions are cut customers will stop coming. read more

We ate here at the Ville Restaurant a year ago and the food was fantastic ate here again yesterday and the food was so bad my wife couldn't even eat her meal. The funny thing I ate the french dip both times I visited, that is actually why we went there. The first time the French dip was juicy and tender with great flavor on fresh bread, yesterday it was dry, NO flavor, bread was hard and the au jus was to salty. This place is mediocre at best. It has been around for as long as I can remember, and yet, I don't remember the menu ever changing. Almost everything here is frozen and reheated, and you can tell. Disgusting. I've been coming here with my grandparents since I was maybe 7 or so maybe longer. This place hasn't updated anything in that time. The place isn't very clean. The menu hasn't changed in years. Too big of selection of sandwiches and none well executed. The quality of food is terrible. The last time here I had hot peppers stuffed with Italian sausage. TERRIBLE. This was poorly made at least a week before it was served to me and reheated. Everything in it had broken down if you know what I mean. The chicken on the chicken salads is that pre packaged low quality chicken strips. By looking at everything else, it looks the same. Service is terrible. We came to The Ville.. waited 10-15 minutes for our waters, ordered our food. Salad came with onions when asked for no onions in the salad, didnt get our appetizer, waited roughly 15-20 minutes for the bill. Do they even care? Didnt even write our order down... looks like they need to invest in some paper & pencil if you can't remember an appetizer... disappointing as ever. Definitely wont go back. Have to start by saying I am a local transplant. I grew up in the area and live in Columbus Ohio now. I have been to nicer places but for the area this is good food. It is a divey home town resturant. Good for families groups or grabbing a quick drink or lunch. Cant speak to the bar have never bought a drink here. Food quality is hearty and standard. It is not a foodie heaven but it will satisfy most palates. Servings are large and most people will take home part to half of their meal. I have a love for the standard steak salad and wedding soup as well as white Ruben sandwich as well as gyro. Decor could use some updating, not sure who is buying the tees they're selling in the glass case out front? Floors could use some replacing, but the whole mall floor is bowing thanks to being built on an old coal mine. Keep in mind the entire mall is not exactly thriving but this is a good gem as far as hometown dining goes. If traveling thru this is a sure bet for a good meal. read more

One of my favorite places to eat in the Ohio Valley! If you're looking for an authentic and fantastic steak salad you're in for a serious treat. The salads are huge and loaded with the good stuff. Living in the Steubenville area you find yourself having to either travel for a decent restaurant or settling for fast food. The Ville has always been the "go to" place for families, couples and friends as far as I'm concerned. The food is great, people are always nice and the price is reasonable. I have never, in the several years I've been going there, gotten bad food. Yes there is a somewhat long wait on the "busy" days, which are usually on Friday and Saturday, but unless you're in a rush (and I don't see why you would go to a packed restaurant if you were.) It's nice to sit and enjoy time with whomever you've chosen to go to lunch or dinner with. I've never had a bad time while at this restaurant. Great place. read more

Horrible Service and the Food was even worse!! I make better tasting pasta and sauce at home. The pasta was cold and the bland watered down sauce was very sad and pathetic. I've lived in this area for nearly 10 years. Yes, it's in the middle of nowhere with not too many options. GO TO THE VILLE! Out of almost everything around, the VILLE has the best prices and quality. 4 years ago I went vegetarian - great options before... pretty good options after.
