This was our first visit to Vina. Yep, we will be back! First, the service was excellent! Every step of our visit was very well done. Staff were friendly and the drinks and food were served quickly. The food was very good. I really enjoyed my Beef Lo Mein. The noodles were perfect, not over cooked or slimy like most restaurants that serve Lo Mein. I love fried egg rolls and they have a good one! We also ordered Egg Foo Young and it might be the best I have eaten. We also started with Spring Rolls and Cream Cheese Wontons. Both were very good. Unfortunately I forgot to take pictures. The only thing we were slightly dissatisfied with was our drinks. We ordered the Strawberry Margarita and it was not good. Much too sweet and artificial. The soda is served in cans. Wish they would make the switch to fountain soda. Plenty of other options to order. Overall very happy with our visit! Looking forward to our next visit. read more

Friendly staff and it's been a long time since I've been back after COVID. I couldn't decide between noodles soup and stir fry and took my server's recommendation to order the hu tieu noodles soup with BBQ pork and shrimp wonton noodles soup. The noodles and wontons were cooked too long that it got a little mushy. The restaurant has been remodeled and the dining area looks a lot bigger with a nice bar seating area. The decor is very nice. Good prices are reasonable. Will have to order their fried rice next time. The owners were very nice to our daughters and have them caramel candies. read more

I love their hot and spicy chicken and their egg rolls and their cream cheese wontons. The biggest problem is just as with all these places they've just gotten too expensive. It's chicken and rice. Chicken and noodles. $16 Even the PHO soup is getting like $14 at places. You buy chicken with rice and it's got a sauce in it and you pay tax and a tip and it's like 20 bucks. That's pretty crazy. It's like twice of what it should be. We just don't go anymore. We've been looking online at making our own at home. It's actually been working out pretty well. Yay the Vina has reopened! I've been coming here as well as fellow Vina locations since the early 90's. I think this is the sole location now. The neighborhood is picking up with a lot of new housing, as well as with Centro moving in. It's important to keep up so I was happy to hear if the remodel. It looks nice. They're advertising a "bar" and it's a lunch counter. No cocktails are served here but they may want to consider acquiring a liquor license. It would be a massive hit! All of the same things I have said before (amazingly tasty food, it comes out unbelievably fast, friendly staff) are all true, and now the one knock I had on this place (that the inside was more functional than comfortable) has been addressed. Beautiful new remodel - it is comfortable, spacious, and feels great in there. Had Kung Pao mock duck and the kiddo had veggie lo mien with fried wontons to start and everything was super tasty. I was recommended this place by a friend who comes here regularly for the pho. I walked in the door and the first thing I noticed was the smell. It had a very musty smell. I'm the corner was a larger fish tank that had not been cleaned for quite sometime and most likely the source... so my recommendation is if you want to try this place, get the food to go. I tried the spring rolls, egg rolls and pho tai. The spring roll seemed fresh but I did not care of the peanut dipping sauce it came with. The Egg roll was filled well and deep fried to a golden crunch, those were good! They also precut it, which I liked. The pho tai was slightly bland to me, however they have so many items to flavor it, that you can really customize the flavor. This included chili oil at the table, hoisin sauce, soy sauce, limes, fresh basil, and fresh cilantro. The service here was very friendly and fast by the gentleman that was working! He came by with waters right away and kept them full. Overall, this was an average experience for me and I'm not sure I would go back. If I lived in the area, I would may be consider trying other items but with there being so many other places to get pho, and the inside feeling a bit dirty to me (with the smell) I think I'll be trying other places. read more

Satisfactory service. The acoustics are hard and too bright. Little to no noise buffering. But a Vietnamese theme restaurant is usually all about just getting food and quickly eating. So, this is not a negative critique. I ordered the hot spicy chicken . The gravy was cooked to semi solid in the plate and not properly thinned. It takes a lot for me to write a negative review. We had a horrible experience at this restaurant. I don't know why it takes longer than 1 hour for pho. Ok, I do have to take issue with the review from 2/28 which repeated in several ways how much the prices have increased, comparing to what it cost in the 1980s. Don't go out much lately? Yes, eating out is much more expensive than it was a few years ago. We want people to earn a livable wage, so that means the increased cost of wages are supported by customers. Also, food costs are higher. (Eggs? ) Vina's prices are comparable to any other Vietnamese/Asian restaurant. Check it out and compare menus on line. OK, We've been going to VINA since the early 1980s! We had lunch on 2-26-25-and sadly walked away with such a bad taste in our mouths that we vowed to NEVER go back. I guess it's true when they say, "You can't go back." Let me elaborate: 1. RENOVATION COSTS MUST HAVE BEEN THROUGH THE ROOF FOR THE OWNERS! I state this because they not only raised their prices, but doubled ALL entrees and in many other categories, tripled prices, i.e., 2 egg rolls for $7.99. OUCH. For years they were less than half that price! Sticker Shock is what we felt! Just 5 yrs. ago we could each order egg rolls for a whopping sum of less than $5. What gives VINA? OUTRAGEOUS PRICES; 2. We kept looking over the menu and realized we probably couldn't afford lunch that day! We felt locked out due to their outrageous pricing!; 3. As I stated above, we have been giving this restaurant our complete and undying business for decades but realized if we want to go back, we simply cannot order what we've always eaten. In the past, our usual, modest order consisted of 2 orders of egg rolls, and 1 ORDER FOR hot and spicy chicken. We never paid more than $20. Now, that same order would set us back $16.00 for EGG rolls alone and $15.00-20.00 for 1 entree, which we always shared. TOTAL BILL: ALMOST $40! THIS IS WRONG!!!; 4. AND, LET'S TALK ABOUT THE FOOD: VINA ONCE SERVED VERY FLAVORFUL FOOD! Highland Park / St. Paul favorite! I will never turn this place down. Every item is to die for and made with the freshest ingredients. You can dine in or take out. Our table ordered shrimp Singapore noodles (perfectly curried and as spicy as you like), sesame chicken (not too sweet, just perfect), pho (steamy and perfect), egg foo young (perfect gravy and very yummy). So we have been spending journey at this place for a few years and I am always making excuses for their dry chicken that tastes very suspect, cheese wonton that can be like rubber and don't go eat in the restaurant. I was hoping after the remodel it would be cleaner and it is NOT. Also the pho is BAD, too many onions and when I said something about it I was given a lecture and was told to order it with less. That was the final straw not to mention one of the wait staff looks mean, and we asked her for a check because our server disappeared after dropping off the food and felt like they were trying to intimidate me. I honestly felt rejuvenated after eating it. The egg rolls are super tasty as well! The staff was very friendly, efficient and quick (took only 10 mins from my call to pick up). The food was warm and delicious. I really like the way they packaged everything too. I really enjoyed the egg roll wrap, the texture is different from the traditional egg rolls. The Pho broth was clear and flavorful, no complaints there. Ordered online and picked up the food. Should have checked (my bad) the bag. Got home (25 minute drive) to discover they shorted me one meal and gave me the wrong soup. Called them up and they suggested that I forget the one meal and they just refund me because they were too busy to make up for it. Told them not only refund the meal that I didn't get but also refund the soup I didn't get (wrong soup), to which they agreed to do. The meal I did get was Mongolian beef which consisted of beef and mostly onions. It was terrible. Can't recommend this place and certainly can't recommend the Mongolian beef. read more

I haven't tried the main dishes of this restaurant but what I had last week was not good. It was extremely oily, it did not tasted like it was supposed to, and my appetizer was also not good.
