I had been to two previous tailors/seamstresses in Fort Lauderdale and was quoted $30 and $35. I thought the prices were outrageous and put getting them cuffed on the back burner. When I walked into the shop today, which is immaculate, stylish and what a tailor/seamstress shop should look like, I was warmly greeted by a man and a woman who were smiling. That makes a huge impression and difference when walking into any type of business! I showed them my pants, asked how much to hem/cuff them and was told $18! I put them on in their more within a more than adequate dressing room, stood up on the platform, the tailor marked them appropriately and said they'd be done in one week. I reminded him that would be on Thanksgiving. He laughed and said that Friday! The process was so easy that when you pay, they input your name and cell phone number into their computer, so when one pays, they're instantly sent a text receipt reflecting the customer's name, order number, job being done and cost of the job. It is a cashless business. Even though I have yet to pick up the pants, I'm confident that their work will be spot on!

I emailed Unique for the details and got a very prompt response. Owner said stop by the store to set up the details. The cycle is one week. We chose Friday for pick-up and drop off. They also offer Tuesday pickup drop off cycle. I've had to buy a few extra uniform pieces to make this work but for me, it's worth it. So far so good. I put my bag out last Friday and and it was picked up in the afternoon as expected. My clean clothes were returned. I haven't noted the prices as of yet. Dry cleaners charge me 3X what they charge hubby for almost identical pieces. Been fighting that battle for 20 years. So far, so good. I'm a fan.

They completely took advantage of a 17 year old kid who was excited about her dress and trusted them. They talked her into a bunch of alterations and charged $450. What did we get for that? They butchered the dress. They cut way too much off the back straps so it no longer ties the way it was designed, and they removed the original manufacturer zipper to lower the back. When she got home, the bow couldn't even be done anymore and the "new" zipper they installed was already broken. We brought it back, and instead of owning it, they flat out denied touching the zipper, even though it was obviously replaced. Then they had the nerve to charge another $95 to "fix" it. At that point the original dress shop had to step in and call them out. Only then did they put the original zipper back in and still charged the full $450, didn't even complete the work they promised, and added another $65 charge for a "repair" they claimed they never did in the first place. So let's be clear: they overcharged, damaged the dress, lied about it, and then charged even more to cover their own mistakes. This isn't just bad service, it's dishonest, predatory behavior. They saw a young girl excited for prom and treated her like an easy target. Crooks. Liars. No accountability. Do not use them.

Also, I was clearly told there would be no fittings for my wedding dress -- so it's confusing to now see claims about multiple fittings being standard. That was not what I was offered. For comparison, I went to a larger, cleaner, more established alterations studio and was quoted $900 WITH fittings included for similar work. Meanwhile, I was quoted $1,600 here WITHOUT fittings. That price difference speaks for itself. I'm sharing this so other brides understand exactly what they may be quoted versus what's actually included because transparency matters, especially this close to a wedding.
