I know this because the amount of cheese that filled into the corner of the box when they dropped it or laid it on an angle filled to the top of the crust. The whole corner, outside the pizza, was filled with pizza. The other pizza had the cheese and toppings listed to one side, so we had to mush it all back as best we could. The sauce was so sour it made my stomach turn, like it was undercooked or something, or they're getting cheaper canned sauce. Plenty of other options in Malden. read more

I gave Vinnie's a try for the first time last week based on some of the comments. I was aware that it changed hands and Dom was no longer there. But some said it was still good. Apparently, Dom was legendary. I've eaten a lot of pizza over the years and have to honestly say this was the worst I've ever had. The sauce was bland, the cheese was bland, the dough was so so, and the toppings were not fresh. I can't understand how anyone could like this pizza. I ordered a large. Since we moved in down the street, we've tried many of Malden's absurd number of pizza shops (must be the most per capita anywhere) and Vinnie's is by far our favorite. The pizza, the buffalo fingers, and the people are all amazing. Dom is one cool cat that knows how to make every customer feel valued and special. If I could stop ordering their pizza, I might actually try the subs, but the pizza is just so good. There are a lot of pizza places in Malden and the surrounding cities. You have two main categories to choose from: old-school Italian style pizza, which is cooked right on the surface of the pizza oven or in flat pizza pans, has a thin, crispy crust with a layer of cheese and sauce; and Greek style, which is only seen in the New England area, is made in pie pans with an edge on them, has an airier crust that is a little doughy, and has a thicker layer of cheese and less sauce. I like them both, but have a slight preference for Italian style. Vinnie's is one of the best Italian style pizza's I've had in the greater Boston area. Very thin crust and a great cheese-to-sauce ratio. I like the sauce, although some reviewers here didn't think it was that great. To me, it is a nice, mild sauce that isn't too spicy or too sweet. The toppings are always fresh (although the mushrooms might be from a can, but they tasted delicious to me) and the bottom of the crust is just crispy enough. The biggest plus for me is that the guy who runs the place, and every person I've ever dealt with - whether in the shop or out on a delivery - has been really friendly. They all sound like they couldn't be happier than when they are making or delivering pizzas for people. The shop is a tiny place, but it does the job for a takeout place. read more

I've always wanted to review Vinny's. They have, without a doubt, the BEST sandwiches in the tri-city area! (that's Malden Everett Revere) They use locally baked, Paintedosi super long sub rolls... cut to order..fresh crusty outside and soft and chewy inside... always fresh ingredients... cold cuts.. steaks sandwiches are nice and stacked full...cheesy... pizza is amazing, crispy and cheesy. I love Vinnie's. We probably eat there a little too much though because they know us and when we order something different they notice it. It isn't like we have it delivered, so really it is nice that they know us by name. I also adore their three cheese calzone, yummy. Their sauce is not the best to me, but my family has no issue with it. I am pretty picky about sauce because I don't generally like red sauce so it has to be special for me to like it. My daughters love their pizzas the best of all the places we have tried, although not as much as my homemade, but hey, that is some serious competition. *wink* *edit* I did not give Vinnie's all five stars because I really don't think that their food is outstanding, their service IS and they go out of their way to make you happy and appreciate repeat business. Vinnies is great pizza place in Malden, which has a plethora of them. Domenic is as nice as it gets when it comes to small pizza / sub shop owners.
