Convenient location Quality food Great pricing I want to give Vinny's a 3.5, but that's not an option. It's a small mom and pop shop. Not too many left now a days. We stopped by on a Monday afternoon to pick up subs for lunch. We walked from Perinton park and back. Service was great. As soon as we walked in, I assume Vinny was behind the counter taking our order than into the back to make it. Sub ingredients seemed fresh. Shelf's had items in boxes still and the shop looked a little bit in a disarray. Maybe they are retiring soon? Not sure, but location is great if you are at the park/skate park with kids. read more

I certainly won't ever come back to Vinny's. Drove 15 minutes to Vinny's only to find they closed up early with no forewarning. Their website indicates they are open untill 6 pm on Sundays, but when I arrived at 5:45 I found they were closed early. I won't let Vinny's ever waste my time again. I'm going in for back-to-back reviews; not usually my jam but the world needs to know. This time, for the Genoa salami sub that Vinny made with such love! The bread was outstanding and exactly what you want from a classic hoagie - a crisp, snappy crust, and pillowy soft on the inside. Although I really wanted the large, I restrained and ordered the medium....lesson learned, always go with your gut. My sub was made to order and packed with what seemed like a pound of freshly sliced Genoa salami, provolone, lettuce, tomato, mayo, oil and vinegar. The best sub I've ever had - flavor abounding. My husband and I had put the bikes in the car at our house in Rochester, and parked in Fairport, to ride along the Erie Canal Towpath trail between Fairport and Macedon -- we were hungry for lunch after our ride. We followed a group of bicyclists into the parking lot of Vinny's and are SO GLAD we did! After a quick peek at all of the stellar reviews on Yelp, we went inside to order subs. They were ready quickly, the owners made them for us and engaged us in great conversation while creating our lunches. Can you say DELICIOUS?!?!?! We shopped around their grocery store of authentic imported Italian foods, and did end-up leaving with a container of frozen lemon ice. The cookies and breads were SUPER tempting. My cousin owns this place. Get it? Get it? Not really my fave place. Service wasn't great, although I respect what the guy is trying to do. Some of the prices are okay, some are a little over the top. I didn't enjoy my sandwich much, or the baked dessert goods I tried. They weren't awful. Comparing it directly to nearby Rubino's in Irondeqoit, I know which one I'd pick, but at the same time this is a little family-owned place with plenty of stuff inside for you to discover and enjoy. Small Italian bakery. Vinny was the only person there. Had an enjoyable chat with him. Seems to really put his whole heart into his family and then his store. There are a small smattering of Italian must haves for sale. Small selection of pastries and bread. I got a sub. The large is kind of a medium compared to like diBella. The best part of the sub is the bread - classic Italian bread with good chewiness and satisfying yet not fluff like some subs. I should have gotten the Italian meats but wasn't thinking and got roast beef. Would I go back? Yes to talk to Vinny. Not really to buy Italian goods - Wegmans and Leo's are relatively close by with much bigger selection. Possibly for the bread because I prefer his bread to his closest competitors; no for pastries - selection is limited. Had their pizza for the first time this evening. I called to order 3 pizzas and they were ready in about 25 minutes. The crust is a thinner style, which I love. It has the correct balance between crunch and chew. The sauce tastes like it was made this afternoon. It's not sweet and the tomato is the star with an amazing flavor profile. The ratio of sauce to cheese was a bit more sauce than cheese. I look for this and Vinny nails it. We also ordered a 1/2 pound of assorted Italian cookies. Vinny assured me they are homemade. I think that I may have found a new favorite pizzeria. Both the pepperoni pizza and the service were excellent. Vinny (I assume) was extremely friendly and courteous. I ordered over the phone and the pizza was ready within 25 minutes. This pizza was some of the best that I have had in Rochester. The quality is right up there with Nino's and the Pizza Stop. The price, simply, can't be beat. $10.81 out the door for a large pepperoni pizza of this quality is a steal. Actually though, the crust has the perfect crunch and chew, the toppings are loaded and fresh. The baked wings are a great alternative to the usual fried. They're saucy, well seasoned and quite literally falling off the bone while not being dry at all. If you want basic white bread or rolls or burger buns, this place has the freshest. You know what? For at least the bakery half of the store (haven't tried anything else!), Vinny's is OK by me. It's absolutely a taste of the old world. There's nothing too fancy about it, there's nothing too gourmet, hipster, or modern about it, but boy, do they make a delicious cookie. It's somewhat unassuming, but I guess that's why you don't judge a book by its cover! One of the things that makes Vinny's so authentic has to be Vinny himself. Everything is 100% homemade, and you can see it in the man behind the confections. You can see his hand-moldings on each of the cookies or the slightly imperfect twists from squeezing spritz cookies out of the star nozzle on a piping bag. You can taste it in the all-too-well-known almond or lemon flavor in each of the cookies he prepares. As soon as you walk in and meet the family, you can tell they've easily been baking for 50 years, and the taste really delivers. Of particular note, I absolutely have to commend the cucidati which are essentially Fig Newtons on crack. Super soft, tender dough filled with fig paste topped with a crisp vanilla glaze? Lord knows I'll be eating them all week. And the super soft vanilla taralli doughnuts? Not too sweet, not too heavy, and tastes just like biting into a pillow. Wow! Their bread is amazing!! DiBella's/Wegmans subs had been top notch with me for years but Vinny's blows them away! I moved down the street over a year ago and have been wanting to get to Vinny's for some time. I finally stopped in this past Saturday and will probably be back one day this week to pick up some more mouth-watering food. Vinny and his wife are the sweetest. When I walked in, Vinny was sitting and catching up with a friend. Before the friend left, while my sub was being made by Vinny's wife, Vinny walked over and grabbed a sampling of Easter bread. Our order was taken promptly, made with care, and the sandwiches were fresh and delicious. We each had an Italian assorted, and we both agreed the subs here are a welcome change from the same old local grind (Di Bella's, Wegmans, etc.).
