Garment is a sought-after designer vintage shop in Austin. Located on South Lamar, the shop offers a carefully curated collection of high quality women's vintage pieces. The selection embodies fashion forward vintage including well preserved and visually appealing garments. Garment has a boutique rather than a thrift shop persona. I like that clothing was loosely hung on the racks for ease of perusing the items. Bailey, the sales representative, was super patient and kind. She happily showed me anything I wished to see in the store particularly those pieces that were under lock and key. She also offered to reach out to a jewelry designer for different ring sizes...so kind of her. Garment Modern + Vintage is a great destination vintage aficionados and fashion enthusiasts. Found one item! Bailey put it in a beautiful box and bag...very nice touch! While I used a little of my credit today, I still have more to spend.

There were two gentlemen behind the front desk. One asked what I was looking for. I said I was looking for some eyeglass frames, which they recommended another store. I also mentioned something about us looking around before our flight. Wanting to still explore the store, I complimented the store, and politely asked if they wouldn't mind telling me a bit about their store. All of a sudden, one person behind the desk stated that he was too old for this, and that he just didn't feel like talking, and said it's his day off. The other person with him didn't say anything, so I just walked away, and then decided to call and Uber and leave the area. Having spent much of my working career with critically ill people who are often having the worst days of their lives, I can admit to many moments where I am super tired and frustrated with things in my own life, and understand needing to take a step away, have a minute to regroup, take a breather etc. But how am I supposed to know it's your day off if you're behind the counter, and asked me what I was looking for? what about the other person who I'm assuming was working..couldn't they have chosen to just say a few words? If they felt I was looking for a long explanation, I think a reply saying something like I'll give you the short version would have sufficed. It did made me wonder what it was about me and friends that made it seem appropriate to reply in that manner. Is the attitude some type of gimmick I'm not aware of? Im not necessarily angry, Just felt disappointed. Made me wonder what I had to look like to get treated nicely. Maybe it's the fact half my outfit is from Costco, the other half from Marshall's. (I'm still quite proud of all that). And my friend was carrying her Vera Bradley luggage haha. Well who knows, and I do see the work put into that store and am assuming there's a lot of thought and talent put into it. So take what you will, I think this review is more of a reflection of my confusion. Either way, the rest of my time in Austin was absolutely divine and people were kind and interesting!

It's a smaller store and super cute. I have been here a few times over the years and it's a fun store to browse. On my last visit I purchased a vintage bangle as a gift for a friend. I've been meaning to make this post for awhile now (I will often reference that I have A LOT of draft reviews I am working through). Anyway, I am saddened by the low reviews and the treatment of other patrons by staff. That simply has never been the case for me. Maybe it's my winning personality? HAHA. Or maybe, they were having several bad days? I don't know... Either way, I will keep shopping here. They have a nice selection and supporting local is important to me. The clothing selection is especially good--better brands, excellent condition, no stains or tears, and often items that are brand new or look like they've barely been worn. Beyond clothing, I've found beautiful crystal and china, quality glassware and serving pieces, decorative items, books in wonderful condition, puzzles, children's toys and clothing, and some truly gorgeous furniture. The furniture, in particular, is often top-quality and priced far below what I would expect. The store itself is clean, organized, and easy to shop. I never feel like I have to dig through piles of damaged or worn-out items to find something worthwhile. What really sets Better ATX apart, though, is the people. The volunteers are friendly, helpful, and clearly passionate about what they're doing. Every visit feels welcoming. I often run into familiar faces, and it's not unusual to end up having a pleasant conversation with a volunteer I've never met before. As someone who relies on thrift stores to help stretch my budget for clothing and household items, I appreciate places that offer genuine value. Better ATX consistently has some of the best prices I've found on high-quality items, including brands I could never justify buying new. I always look forward to visiting and almost always leave with a great find.

They have unique pieces, ones you can envision wearing or putting in your home. At ATX Thrift store the thrill of the hunt is still alive and bubbling in your shopping veins. Smile. The selection of items rotates frequently with clothing, shoes, accessories, and goods that range from everyday basics to those one of kind items. You can find unique antique furniture like a victrola, a retro jacket, antique costume jewelry or a quirky décor piece. It is so much fun thrifting here. The little ladies that manage this store are so super sweet. I was trying to getting to a door that was locked. The store sales representative came outside to get me and take me through the correct door. I guess I did not realize that door was no longer open. These ladies are kind and will go out their way to help you. The prices of the pieces at ATX Thrift are reasonable and very affordable. It is nothing like going to a thrift store and finding item and then realizing it is way overpriced. As many times as I have visited ATX Thrift, I can honestly say their prices are consistently fair.
