I got diarrhea from just reading the 3-page report. All kinds of health violations with most of them being repeat violations. I have never seen a report worse than this one. Spooky Action ________ To: The Virginia Department of Agricultural and Consumer Services (VDACS) Date-Time: July 11, 2020, 7:00PM EDT I just noticed a Yelp review re: The Trading Post. It's from 12/18/2017 but it is the sort of thing I would expect when dealing with a gas station sandwich shop. The problem is magnified by the fact that The Trading Post is a hub for area tradesmen, many of whom do not wear masks to protect themselves from Covid-19. So it's an easy path from customer, to their breathed-upon money, to the cashier, to that cashier also spewing his/her no-mask oral spray and Covid-19 fingers onto sandwiches, to the customer's stomach, to the emergency room and, finally, to the graveyard. All because some poorly trained individual couldn't be bothered or doesn't take this matter seriously. I have to agree with the reviewer that it is absolutely deplorable if the people at The Trading Posts are not, at least currently, taking this matter seriously. Questions: * Has any VDACS staff addressed this issue with The Trading Post? * Is VDACS requiring food handlers to wear masks and gloves? * If so, are there fines for noncompliance? * Does VDACS have any view about the The Trading Post's current health awareness? * What do I do if I witness open-food handling w/o masks or gloves? Note: I will reevaluate this review after receiving a response from VDACS.

I'm gonna have the best food around or else I won't offer it" - what I'd imagine the owner of Trading Post said to himself when he opened up shop. There are two types of people that open up restaurants: one does so in order to make money. The other to share their joy of good food with their community. The Trading Post falls under the latter

Their soups are again, delicious and elevated above many restaurants in the area. Staff are friendly and courteous. As a former Seattleite, I consider myself to be a serious coffee critic, and lover. They know how to make a wicked latte! Some of the best in Charlottesville. My only critique is that I wish they still had inside seating, too cold in the winter and too hot in the summer. But that doesn't stop me from getting my food to go and making a mess of myself on the way home. LOL!

Better yet I respect the overall operation after a single visit and know they have their act together. Ivy Provisions is located just outside UVA grounds make it very convenient for this HOO Dad to check out the first time. Of course I looked at their reviews, menu and photos of sandwiches to properly vet. I was astonished and made this a must stop. I caught them at a good time on a weekday before close and better yet knew they were featuring lobster rolls on the Ivy Provisions Instagram feed. Parking was easy in their own lot. The non commercialized building was a welcome site. This is the one and only Ivy Provisions. Grab a bag of chips, salad or treat with a bottle drink as you head to the counter of Ivy's cozy space. The young gentleman was friendly and efficient with answering a few questions. My wife ordered the Gobbfather which is a Turkey Melt on white. I ordered the lobster roll special. Seating is all outdoors on the patio. Food orders are prepared and sent out in a bag through the window, you will find utensils and napkins in this location. The area was clean. The restroom is gender neutral and was also clean with proper supplies. My wife enjoyed her turkey melt and found it so big she could not finish. My lobster roll I had no problem dusting off. It was a beautiful roll with fresh Maine lobster and soft roll. Total home run. Find me back at Ivy Provisions the next time in Charlottesville. A full 5 stars and job well done all around.

It's located inside a building that appears to have been a school in the past. We got there in the middle of the afternoon, so there was no line. I opted for a cold Italian sandwich without mayo to go. The sandwich didn't take took long and when I opened it up in the car, my first reaction was that the bread was about twice the thickness of the filling. It was a good sized sandwich and tasted ok, but it was too bready for my liking.

I will add as context to this review that I came into our sandwich order with some biases, namely…read morefor the style of sandwich common in the greater Philly-NYC food region. This is particularly true for the cheesesteak, which is what I ordered. When I picked it up, it seemed light, which I soon learned was due to a paucity (relative to my not insubstantial experience with Philly-style cheesesteaks) of meat in the sandwich. Consequently, the sandwich tasted rather bready. My wife ordered a hot Italian. This was a meatier (and thus more satisfying) sandwich, but still not ideal for several reasons. First, it was not hot. I mean this in two ways, both that the bread was not (or at least did not seem) toasted and that it was not very spicy. This latter observation relates to a second criticism that there did not seem to be cappicola on the sandwich, but in its place was some other meat that did not belong (maybe turkey, maybe honey ham). It's possible that my lackluster experience here was because we ordered the wrong things. Other reviews rave about other sandwiches we didn't order, and maybe those are better. I hope so.
