Sangria was amazing, but the service was horrible. My boyfriend and I waited 20 min before we even got a server to serve us a drink. They weren't busy! Trust me I am a server I know. This place is such a great atmosphere and just so relaxing to me. It is upscale but chill. They have nice seating options for little groups, great wines, and a full bar too. One of my best friends eloped and had a small wedding reception here back in Tulsa which they accommodated beautifully. I had another friend get engaged here. She walked in the door and he proposed and we all said surprise- so it's an option for special events in your life too. I would love to utilize the space for a birthday party or something in the future! Overall just a great little space that is perfectly done to be an A+ Wine Bar. Love this place so much. The bartenders are VERY, very knowledgeable and take such good care of you, making the experience effortless on your part. Atmosphere is dark and cozy. You could bring a date here, a group of friends, or even a business partner for a meeting of you really wanted! It's casual, but also more mature feeling than some of the bars around town. The inside of this bar is amazing. It is so beautifully decorated and the seating is comfortable. Everything about it is classy and I love it. They also have a huge outdoor seating area as well. I love this place. You can tell the bartenders love what they do. They are always so helpful and knowledgeable. This place is elegant and could easily be snooty but the staff are friendly and always ready to give you a lesson in wine history or recommend a drink for you and so far, they've never been wrong with a suggestion. I love that there are many different options for seating from high top tables to comfy chairs and couches, to bar seating. There are always old or silent movies playing on the t.v. On a nice evening, I like to sit outside at one of their tables and I've never had to wait for service. The staff is always attentive. The only down side is the drinks are expensive but so worth it. If you're on a budget and looking to get tipsy, you might try Mercury Lounge across the street but if you want a fantastic glass of wine or craft cocktail to savor, this is your spot. Fate must have brought me to Vintage 1740. Yelp is invaluable to me when I come in to Tulsa; I never would find half the places I try without it. I was actually looking for an Italian restaurant, landed upon Delassandro's (because everyone was raving about the Caesar salad) and showed up a bit too early for dinner service, so my dining companion and I settled in to an outdoor table at 1740 to have a little snack while we waited. Three glasses of wine and a meal-sized cheese board later, I'm glad we did! Let's talk about the atmosphere. I live in the sticks. Like, the hillbilly sticks. And I'm not fancy. I happened to have been driving my friend's hail-damaged car that day (I was picking it up from the window guy--I'm a good friend like that). Now, had I not grown up in Boulder, CO, and been accustomed to parking my non-fancy cars in between BMW convertibles and Range Rover SUVs, I miiiiiiight have been intimidated and left. But I gave up on following pretenses years ago, so I happily parked my little duct taped ride right up front and walked in. It's fancy, to be sure. I think if the outdoor seating area hadn't been open, I wouldn't have felt quite as comfortable. But there's something about outdoor seating that makes everything a little better. I was underdressed, for sure, in my Carhartt skirt (yes they make those) and denim shirt; everyone there was very well put together, but I didn't feel out of place enough to feel too uncomfortable. 1740 definitely draws a well heeled crowd. My dining companion was my crazy Greek uncle. I mention him enough in my reviews; I think it's time he deserves his own acronym: CGU. CGU and I settled in to our table outside and were treated to good, patient service by Chris and ... I can't remember the other guy's name. Long red ponytail, super nice guy. They answered our wine questions, patiently endured CGU's vast array of unsolicited trivia, and kept the water flowing (very appreciated!). We each started with one of the lighter white wines (I don't normally drink white wine except for on hot days, and when I'm Day Drinking). My favorite glass was something citrusy (not too fruity, though) and light. I wish I could remember what it was called! It was grapefruity, if that helps. Grapefruity and it hit at the back of my mouth, by my molars. I normally drink wine from a box, and this has never happened, so I think that means I've got a hidden talent for wine tasting. We ordered the cheese board and were pretty pumped about everything that was on it. The olives! They were not our familiar Greek olives. They were deliciously briney, though. The cheeses! There were three or four different types on there. They were all very yummy with the cracker-bread (one sesame, one not) and OH the figs! Figs on everything, please. And pistachios! The cheese plate was $16 and it was a perfect snack. It easily would have fed four of us for a light snack while we drank our wine. All of this was really very nice, but I still wanted that Caesar salad I had read about on the Delassandro's reviews. So CGU, lacking fear of rejection, walked right in there and asked if they could deliver us a salad next door at 1740. Hooray! They could! They did! And CGU, having a weakness in the face of deciding between foods, ordered BOTH the roasted red peppers AND the grilled chicken on top of the salad. And THAT, my friends, was a most excellent non-decision. The roasted pepper and the chicken really made my day. The rest of the salad was good, too. The dressing was spicier than most Caesars I've had, and I liked it. I think I probably 7-out-of10-stars liked it. To sum it all up, 1740 has really good service, cheese boards, and wine. I walked by this place when I was going to dinner at the Italian place next door. It caught my eye because of the vintage couches and elegant decor. It's like stepping back in time. I went here after work one day and ordered a "Last call" discounted bottle of wine and a cheese platter with olives, both of which were enjoyable. I loved the quiet, stylish atmosphere. Upscale Drinking Experience. I used to sell watches and this was the venue were we had a Panerai invite only watch showing. For what the bar is, its really the only game in town. Specialty drinks made to perfection for the upscale clientele. Great wine list, strong pours and no riff raff. You wont wanna walk in there with jean shorts on (guys). This wine bar is as good as it gets. I went there on a Saturday night around midnight, and despite being busy I was very well taken care of. First, and most important, the wine is universally amazing: delicious, unusual, well-explained, accessible. I ordered both a red and white natural wine that they had on special during November, and both were incredible. The bartender kindly gave me tastes of both of these, so I knew I was getting something I would enjoy. Second, the hospitality is amazing: despite being busy, I got to chat with several bartenders, each kind, knowledgeable, and welcoming. The owner Matt stopped by to chat and seemed like a genuinely nice and super knowledgeable guy. Lastly, and I hardly ever notice this in a restaurant or bar, but it the space was absolutely gorgeous: modern, open, thoughtful. Thank you Vintage 1740 for bringing a class act wine bar to Tulsa, OK! Being from a big city up North, I love a nice glass of wine in an environment that boasts class and comfort. Vintage 1740 has nailed this one. All of the wine selections are great. The staff working there are very helpful in recommending different wines that you might be interested in trying based on your likes and dislikes. My favorite treat to get is their homemade/ hand rolled Chocolate truffles! They come in 4s if I recall, and they are to die for. A great add on to any glass of red wine! Hits the spot ladies, if you know what I mean! If you are looking to not spend a whole lot of money, than just enjoy a couple of their wine flight varieties. These are smaller glass samples of different wines. You'll still have a great time, and not burn a whole in your wallet. Vintage 1740 will continue to be the place that I bring my out of town guests to for a great glass of wine! read more
