Always great food and ambiance. 95% of the time the waitstaff is amazing. There is only one person that I prefer not having wait on me and it's hopefully because he's new-ish. Absolutely some of the best food in Montgomery. It has great service and food. It was more upscale on the inside than expected. We started off the with crab cakes for an appetizer. My husband had the NY strip and I had to the redfish for dinner. We also ordered a side of brussel sprouts and bacon because we are big fans and they did not disappoint. Easily one of Montgomery's best restaurants! We've never been disappointed and we've tried a lot of dishes. The take-out dinner for two during COVID-19 has been fantastic for this family with young ones. In fact, it's been in our rotation even more frequently than before the outbreak. I went for brunch and had a BBQ Brisket eggs Benedict. The flavor was all I needed and wanted. The cocktail drank was also amazing. I cannot remember what it was called but it had lemon juice and Kahlúa. The flavor was amazing and refreshing. If you are visiting Montgomery for work, my advice is to just go to this place and stop putting it off. I made the mistake of going my last few days. So little time to go back. read more

Our party ate there on a Saturday night with reservations. It had a lovely and lively vibe. We were seated right away. The service was very attentive without being too much. Two in our party ordered from the daily specials; both were pleased. Another ordered the redfish and it was wonderful. The remaining person in our party ordered the NY Strip and it was very poorly cooked. It lacked flavor both from the natural flavor of the beef but also from the apparent lack of any seasoning other than what appeared to be about a teaspoon of drizzle of something on top. It so oddly lacked flavor that I wondered if it had been cooked in a water bath and not finished or seared for any flavor. It was cooked medium as ordered. I regretted we didn't send it back, but we did bring it home to season for 'leftovers' the next day since 3/4s of it was not eaten. Best highlights were the Southern Dynamite appetizer--Wow! ALso the warm gingerbread cake with ice cream for dessert--still thinking about it! We will visit again just because the steak just did not mirror the quality of everything else. Maybe it was just a bad night. Otherwise I would give it 4 stars. I would give it 5 Stars if they could have controlled an unruly patron so as not to interfere with others dining, but they appeared to be doing all they reasonably could. read more

My husband and I ate at VY in October 2016. From the host staff, the bus boy, server to the food and atmosphere, it was extraordinary. We were in town celebrating my birthday. A friend and I came for dinner and while we expected nice, we were blown away. You can sit outside but if you do, you are missing out on an amazing ambiance. The service is impeccable! from the folks that seat you, to the wait staff, the kitchen staff, everyone is friendly and quick to help. Our waitress, Jennifer, was wicked fast with orders, knew the menu, and was eager to make accommodations for us as we wanted to try out a few dishes. The food! I had the Hen and my friend had the catch of the day. That hen was cooked to perfection with a great crust, one a bed of barley and pancetta. I don't remember a better dish (I am sure I've had it, but I can't recall better than that hen) Do yourself a favor and try the Vintage Year and if you are lucky, it will be Jennifer that helps you. First time at Vintage Year back in February was decent. Second time in May was absolutely terrible. Food took 2+ hours to come and frankly I could have cooked better food at home. Serves blamed "large tickets" (large orders) for the delay. Regardless, I won't be coming back. read more

Took my girlfriend here for dinner. Upscale ambience, great service. We had steak tartare for an app, which was good, but not the best I've ever had. Our main courses were outstanding though. I usually think that I can make a better steak than most restaurants, but my NY strip was on point. My girlfriend's grouper was fresh, well-seasoned and plain delicious. It's pricey, but worth it. Easter Brunch was fabulous! The food was outstanding. The Bloody Mary bar was filled with so many house made pickles that I honesty think my drink contained at least 2 vegetable servings. I had the Eggs Benedict. The egg was perfectly poached and the hollandaise was so good!! My son had the French Toast. It reminded me of summer peachy cobbler. Yum!!! My Dad had the crab-cakes and the Caesar Salad. Needless to say he cleaned his plate. Mom had the country omelet and cheese grits!!! We were all delighted with our choices. Very nice pairing of fruits and vegetables with the protein in very unique ways. Very nice atmosphere and our server was delightful.

This restaurant felt like a gift, with its creative menu and relaxing dining room. Even the local bread and butter were notable. Began with the fried green tomatoes, accompanied by a spicy roulade that took the dish up several notches. Main course was Certified Angus Beef, cooked perfectly. Dessert was the chocolate baklava, unexpectedly enchanting. The wait staff are knowledgeable and helpful. We felt pampered and unrushed -- and very glad we came. Rarely is a dining experience this exceptional. Sure, you like some things, you don't like others. The entrée might be great, the dessert not so much. I think a lack of consistency across the board hurts a lot of "fine dining" restaurants, but not so with Vintage Year! Good Lord, they hit it out of the park. First, service was friendly, professional, unobtrusive, and competent. All that I ask for. Second, the food was exceptional. We had a Ceasar salad as a starter. It was a classic with few surprises, but HUGE, a portion easily shared with my husband and young daughter. The lettuce was very fresh and the dressing tasty. It goes without saying, this is not a kid-friendly restaurant. There is no kid's menu, but thankfully, my daughter likes vegetables. We ordered three sides for her and asked that they be served on the same plate - which they were, and beautifully - mac and cheese with smoked gouda, grilled baby asparagus, and collard greens. Each item was delicious, as was the bread and butter served first thing. I had two starters for my main meal - spicy shrimp and grits, and crab cakes - and my husband had the gumbo. All of them were to die for - the crabcakes were delicious, though for purists, the small amount of corn and bean filler might put them off - but not me! Never had that in my crabcakes before, but served on a bed of spinach and roasted red pepper sauce, they were fantastic. $10 martinis and glasses of wine, $4.50 for imported beer. This place was a wonderful and surprising find while visiting Montgomery for a conference. Totally unassuming from the outside, walked in to a modern chic interior that transported us to places you would normally find in a sophisticated urban neighborhood...with a diverse mix of people including a lot of local politicians and a hip looking mixologist pouring cocktails. The total score was the food...AMAZING! I got the snapper and a few of my colleagues tried the dish they are most known for, the red fish. Both were a sensory delight...but go for the red fish, you won't be disappointed. And if the ambience and food weren't enough...we had one of the best servers I've had in a long time...Jenny was a total pro. Anticipated our every need all while being professional and charming. To top it off, we decided to taste test the whole dessert menu (you're welcome)...I can't exactly remember what it was called, but it was some type of gingerbread cake and it was sinful. Great brunch. Best Bloody Mary's we can remember. Option to create your own, but we went with bartenders creation and glad we did. House salt on rim was good, but the Sriracha salt option did move it up the roentgen chart. Our Eggs Benedict snob called hers "perfect". Traditional omelet got good reviews, but my duck omelet wouldn't justify a repeat. Thick cut bacon had great flavor and wasn't fatty. Service was timely, professional and pleasant.
