I had A-1 service at VIP Formal Wear today . It was a great experience shopping there . I had " Old Fashion" service from Brian the manager . He measured my neck and arm length with precise. We tried a few shirts and found the perfect fit. He even hung in and placed it in a plastic cover bag along with the tie. He was very professional and he knew his business. Of the 5 suits I had rented for my wedding today, *EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM* had serious issues. The shirt sleeves were all too short Chest and arms were too tight on 3 of them Pants on 3 were the wrong length At least 2 jackets didn't fit correctly. All this could have been avoided if we were able to pick up the rentals more than 3 days before the event. $250 per rental to fuck up literally every tux is too much money You guys are the *ABSOLUTE WORST* rental company, which for wedding rental companies is impressive. read more

I don't usually leave reviews but this guy TERRELL is terrible. Terrell messed up the date of day I pick up my suit after asking and clarifying several times. They had my suit PICK-UP date 4 days AFTER my suit RETURN date. We got the pick up date cleared up 1 day before the event. Now Terrell is claiming that my suit was due back on 4/21/24 when it clearly states on the receipt return date is 4/24/24. Terrell is who has "helped" me the whole time is also claiming I owe him a extra $50 now for it being "late". Terrell threatened legal action for not returning suit "on time". Aside from all the date mix ups and this apparent extra money I "owe" terrell talks to his employees very unprofessionally and is very rude. Terrell called his employee out in front of the whole store in front of customers to tell him if he messes up again he is fired and gave attitude to everyone after the fact. After that Terrell acted very annoyed with me because they messed my dates up! How does that make sense. Overall would never recommend its more of worry than something helpful. read more

2019 Yelp 120 Challenge- #86 I'm not a huge fan of VIP Formal Wear. I would much rather use Men's Wearhouse because of their inventory and the speed of delivery. They also have a faster turn around time for things needed as well as multiple locations. We used Vip Formal Wear for a wedding that we were in and everything was done out of town. We were told that we would be texted or called once our order was ready, but it wasn't until the day of the wedding when we received any notification. By this time, we had spoken to a few employees daily and we were asking for updates. However, we still did not get a real answers. The employees were very kind and friendly however, they gave no real answers when they were needed. I would not recommend using them for your wedding because things will be deliver the day before and you wanly have enough time to make changes. It would then be up to you to go to their wearhouse to change your outfit. read more

Service was great. The staff were professional and ten times better than any other establishment. They were so nice and waited for my son after hours since we live out of town. My son lit up when he saw his tuxedo. It was exactly what he pictured. I feel 200 for a special night is worth it . Especially if you can't afford 850.00 for one. The price included tux, jacket, vest , shirt and shoesBasically you rent the tux for your special night in the store, then a day or so before your event you receive a text to try on in the store and take home. 25.00 fee per day if tux is not returned the day after your event . No need to dry clean they do it all for you . Just return the tux as is. Again fast check in . They will get my business every time. Hopefully next we will be purchasing a suit. read more

I had used VIP for tuxedo rentals for years...but it had been awhile. I learned how this business has gone terrible. The company must have changed management because there is NO professionalism. I should have known when we called to find out where they were located in mall. The person on the phone was not nice. But we went anyway..to rent a tuxedo for our engagement photos. We arrived to be fitted and there were three young guys working there who looked like they were just hanging out and we disturbed them. I went through the fitting trying to think positive since times have changed. I was told just to look around and those with certain tags were rentals. So I was fitted. I asked about VA discount and was told would have to wait for manager to come to ask...never heard anything back. Well I waited to hear back from VIP on my tuxedo being ready but nothing, so the day before I called to check on the status. The young guy answers the phone and yells at me telling me he text me three times and he don't have time right now he's busy. I said wait...I didn't get any text. He was trying to end the call but I was trying to ask what number he text because I didn't get a text. He just yelled I don't have time just come to the store and hung up. I was in unbelief! I called the main store and the kind lady listened and since I now decided I no longer wanted to give my money to such a business she refunded me. While on the phone the other store kept calling me...and I refused to answer because my anger level was so high I would have gone to the store and gotten into it. But since I'm a professional I don't get involved in child play. They also text me saying they had text the wrong number and apologizing...text had misspellings and run ons etc. Never again will I use their services!! read more

First time renting a tux for my Sophomore in HS. They were busy with Broughton Queen of Hearts dance fast approaching. The staff was efficient, friendly, confident, patient and helpful. What more could you ask for? They also delivered what they promised, when they promised it. Definitely try everything on at pick-up. While ours was perfect, others had to have adjustments made. We also learned how to use cuff links and the finishing buttons. I will rent from them again. We also appreciated the discount given to BHS students. Our no frills option, including shoes was about $85. He looked fantastic on the pictures and felt confident enough to even dance! read more

Terrell the District/Regional manager was very dismissive and condescending upon arrival to the store. To be dismissed by an employee of a store that I have ALREADY purchased an item for because they are busy due to last minute customers is very disheartening. Edit: Terrel has made a great effort subsequently to verify the blank date on the contract and make things right with us. We appreciqte it. What started out as a good experience went horribly wrong upon the return of my son's tux. Measuring was fine, despite the manager working with 2 undertrained associates (this is key, later)for a busy store. Pick up was fine. Tux was fine. Prom was a Saturday night. Son returned the tux on Monday ealry afternoon. He was told he owed a $50 late fee because it was "due back Sunday". Well, if that were true, it should've only been a $25 fee. But it wasn't true because the return due date on our receipt IS BLANK. It should've been $0. We technically could've kept the tux, legally, for as long as we wanted. My son, being a non confrontational person paid the man and then contacted me. I told him to go back and ask to see where it said the return due date. Person working said they didn't have that "but was told when to bring it back". Not good enough. I called to try and straighten things out. Terrel tried his best to persuade me the $ was owed but I kept telling him my receipt doesn't have a return due date. I asked if we could agree on that. He said he didn't have it in front of him. His response was so rehearsed as if this has been done before. I offered to send a picture of it. He gave me a number to send it to, which I did (I have attached it here with personal info edited). No response as of yet. If you rent from here GO WITH YOUR KID and MAKE sure they don't try this again. read more

I called VIP Formal Wear to get some information on renting a tux for 2 of my groomsmen that live in Raleigh for a wedding in Chicago. Michelle got on the phone with me, and instead of trying to sell me on why it was better to have my guys rent from them and travel with their tuxedos, she suggested pay her $5 for a measurement, get that info and send it to a local company in the city I'm getting married and get the tuxs there. You very rarely see a company truly look out for the best interests of the client that isn't theirs. I really appreciated her input, and she was incredibly knowledgeable about how to efficiently dress my groomsmen for a destination wedding in the least stressful way for my Bride to be. Overall I would say we were satisfied with VIP Formal. My husband looked amazing and the groomsmen looked good. They accommodated my father in law who is a size 52 waist. We had a wedding during prom season, which we were told we would get priority. They get really really busy during prom season (of course). The lead up to the wedding was easy, but on the day of our guys fitting, they called and said they were too busy and needed to move our appointment to the next day (day before the wedding!). We said absolutely not so we had to come for a super late fitting and didn't get home until midnight. So that was definitely not ideal. I would recommend them, but beware of prom season. read more

This place rocks!! Another tuxedo rental place in the local area (Men's wearhouse in Cary) had messed up my son's prom tuxedo rental and we were left with a tux that would fit a 10 year old child the night BEFORE the prom. I called VIP warehouse in Raleigh this morning and explained our situation and they said come on down and we will have you fixed up and will have a tuxedo for you TODAY. Not only did they have a nicer tuxedo for my son (and it fits beautifully), the tuxedo rental at VIP was much LESS expensive. I cannot thank them enough for saving our prom disaster!!
