I came in around 4pm on a Wednesday! They were moderately busy, but gave me full attention as soon as I walked in. I received the basic pedicure ($35) and added the callus treatment ($13). The massage chairs are a nice touch. I waited ~20 mins after walking in with no appointment, and the entire process took about an hour. They accept tip via card, but prefer cash. I wish the callus removal was a little more extensive, but I also do not get pedicures often, so I do not know what the standards are. Overall good basic pedicure for the price! I've used this place many times since moving to the area but I have to say the last few times have been an awful experience and after today I will not be coming back. Last visit the tech was very rude and made me feel like a bother the entire time, mind you my life is crazy and there isn't much "me" time I get to have, so this was very off-putting and made for a poor experience. I decided to give it another try nonetheless and request another nail tech (didn't have to ask) but this time I told them I wanted a fill in, we sat down, they tried to convince me I didn't need extensions (which I do and prefer for a certain shape I like) then mid way they told me they didn't have time and to come back tomorrow. I've been coming here for several years. The last few times, the owner has been very rude. I understand if tips are preferred in cash, but stating to your customer to tip more money because they are paying in card BEFORE the service is even finished is insanity. After he said the tip is not enough, and I stared at him in disbelief. He then walked away to charge my card and when returning slammed my card down and said next time bring cash. Well sir, there won't be a next time. I came here because of location - there is nothing spectacular about the quality of the manicures and pedicures here. I've also had friends meet me here to have a girls mani date and they have also been treated less than friendly by the owner while waiting for me to arrive, which is quite embarrassing for me at having invited them to this nail salon. I was looking at yelp to get a gel pedicure today before my vacation on Sunday. I have a busy schedule being an eyelash tech that I forgot to have me time. I spoke to Peter, the owner to make an appt for today and he got me in. When I arrived I was greeted by all the staff. This place was new, extremely clean, and different from other nail salons. Upon arrival, they give you a bottle of water during your service. They want to get to know you and ask questions about yourself. I would recommend this salon to people who are interested. I got a regular pedicure $32, gel polish $15, and they have a promo 15%off so it ended up being $40 bucks about before the tip. Let's talk about the service, they removed my gel polish and clean up the toes before soaking them in water. Different experience bc I wonder how she was going to get the extra skin underneath or on the side. She was able to. She painted my toes before letting me soak them in water. They offer a massage that is amazing; they should do massages as well bc the touch was great! At the end of the pedicure they offer a five minute back massage; I would def come back for this. I've been here many times. It's clean and competent but either I've waited a long time when I get there for a promised appointment or today a pedicure was done in record speed. The pedicure person bumped into me a few times while she kicked me out of the chair while cleaning it for another customer while I was still putting on my shoes. I decided to visit this place due to the very high rating and numerous ratings of almost 100. I was a walk-in for a pedicure and was quickly seated and offered a variety of options all increasing the $35 price. After declining all the options a young operator started to cut my toenails. She completed one foot and I complained that she left some sharpe edges which generally get caught on my socks. She seemed confused and flustered but I insisted that they be cut shorter. At that point Eileen came to the rescue and took over. Her pedicure was great and exactly what I had requested. If I ever return I will be asking for Eileen to perform the pedicure. I would give this salon 10 stars if I could they are that phenomenal. In reference to the space, it is immaculately clean. All of the tools they use on your nails come right out of a new package. The pedicure tubs have liners in them that are replaced for every customer. And I have personally seen al employees working together to clean the place before closing. In reference to the service, you can't find anything better in a 30 mile radius of Hartford, CT. You walk in and you get a complimentary cold water bottle. When your nails are being done, every technician is meticulous about making sure they are perfect. I have been here 4 times and never left with polish on my skin which is usually my biggest pet peeve with nail salons. While your nails are drying, they give you a real 5ish minute shoulder and neck massage. When your nails are dry, they bring you to the sink and use an exfoliating scrub and wash your hands FOR YOU and then dry them with a warm towel. And of course they lotion and massage your hands back at the table after this. Here are some things to keep in mind: - Since they are such perfectionists about your nails, manicures tend to take over an hour so plan accordingly. - With all of the perks and how well they do, they are expensive. A dip powder manicure is $40, and $50 if you get extensions. Pedicures I believe are $32 for regular polish as well. - They accept payment methods of any kind, but prefer tips in cash. - They are AMAZING so they get pretty busy. Always call the morning of the day you want to go and set an appointment. - As if it couldn't get any better, every time you visit they mark a business card for you. Why does this place only have 10 reviews? It's AMAZING! So I came here for an ombré dip mani (that turned into a regular dip mani cause I keep wanting really complicated instagram ombré looks that are nigh impossible to replicate). In the effort of full disclosure, I have been an avid nail biter for 20+ years. My nails and cuticles were (and kinda still are) a HOT mess. Anxiety is a b... let me tell you. Why is this pertinent? Because my nails kinda grow upwards and have weird divots and holes in them. I've been told that the growth pattern may even out in a while or it might not. In either case, I am trying not to bite them and dip powder is a heck of a deterrent. Plus while the powder is on your nail, you nail is rock hard and tends not to break. Anyways, it works for me. The problem is that I've hated nail salons since I was a kid cause my mom thought manis would make me stop biting. It just made it worse cause a lot of nail techs love belittling nail biters. Not all nail techs, I know, but I've found a lot do. Anyways, I came to Charming Nail because they said they could do ombré. I made an appointment with Peter and sat down. Did I mention that this was on a Sunday? Nail salons open on a Sunday? That's a plus! We had a discussion about what I wanted for ombré and then I decided that my moody butt wanted a bright gold nail color instead so we went with that. When I say that Peter is an artist, I mean it. He immediately realized that all my nails had irregularities. I explained that I used to bite my nails. We joked that it'd be really hard to bite your nails with dip powder which I agreed with. Everything was very non judgmental. He was teaching another nail tech about what the coffin shape for nails was (that's the shape we agreed on) but I was never made to feel crappy or belittled. He pulled out clear nail dip powder and proceeded to sprinkle, nail by nail clear power and even out my nail. Do you know how meticulous that is? I mean he went above and beyond. He made sure my nail had zero defects and that I left satisfied, asking me every so often if I liked the shape, the color, everything. I will note that this place gives shoulder massages with their nail services. I am somewhat skittish and almost jumped out my chair when one of the techs started the massage. Personally, I kinda needed a massage, my neck has been stiff for weeks so I liked it. If it's not for you, this is a heads up and maybe ask for no massage? Overall, I absolutely loved my service. I have gone to this salon for a few years and have been so happy. It is a clean and comfortable salon. However the last three visits I have had a powder manicure that hasn't lasted more than a week or two. The have always lasted 3-4 weeks and that's why I'm comfortable with the $45 price but not for under 2 weeks of wear.
