Very happy with how easy it was here. I brought my 10-week-old kitten for his first round of vaccinations; I didn't make an appointment, just came in shortly after they opened for the day. (I tried to make an appointment online but making an appointment wasn't an option for this location.) After being asked a few questions about my cat's age, sex, breed, and whether he'd received any prior vaccinations, they told me to come back about an hour later and he would be seen. I signed up for text alerts and was told I'd receive a text once it was my cat's turn to be seen. The only weirdness happened when I got the text that it was his turn. I walked in, ready to hand him over to the vet and techs, but one of the techs told me it would be another ten minutes. Not sure why I got the text saying they were ready for me when they weren't actually ready. The same tech came over ten minutes later and started asking if my cat could be handled and held, and if he had any issues with that. I said he could be held just fine, but that he was kind of squirrely because he's a kitten and can only be held for so long before he's squirming because he wants to be let down to play. She pointed out that they're an open-air facility (it's basically like a giant cubicle with walls you can talk over and a door that doesn't reach all the way to the floor) and that there's the risk of him possibly getting out, and asked if he was at risk of bolting. I told her he's extremely fast and does like to jump out of your hands when he's done being held, so I guess he's at risk of bolting? She seemed concerned and said if he moves around too much and they're unable to hold him down, they'll be unable to do anything for him. Slightly annoyed at this point, I told her I understood but that this is really typical kitten behavior and I'm sure this isn't the first time they've dealt with animals who are high energy, and that they've likely dealt with animals who really dislike being held (unlike my cat), so how do they deal with those situations? Another tech was paying attention to my tech's weird line of questioning and came over and asked her what the issue was. My tech said she was asking me if my kitten had a risk of bolting and told me that if he's too squirmy, they won't be able to give him his vaccinations. The other tech gave her a look that screamed "You're making this way too complicated" and said, "Uh, that's not a big deal. If he moves around too much we can just scruff him; he's so small and young that at that age, he'll just freeze up." She then assured me everything would be fine and they took him in. I'll at least give the other tech credit for being overly cautious rather than not caring or being too flippant -- I'd rather the former over the latter. The vet was extremely nice and I could hear her and the techs exclaim gleefully about how tiny my kitten is when they pulled him out of his carrier. They gave him a complimentary claw trimming after the vet noticed his claws were getting long, and they kept him calm through the entire vaccination and trimming process. The tech who checked me in gave me clear instructions on what to expect on his next visit, and any adverse reactions to look out for in the next 24 hours post-vaccinations. I'll be back to this location for his second round of vaccinations. This team proved themselves trustworthy and attentive, and the pricing is really fair. (And it's all set pricing and they tell you what the total will be before they do any work, which is great.) read more

I mean you get what you pay for right. I asked for a copy of my dogs records and they send it but the records don't clearly state what was done!!! Like you vaccinated both dogs and there is just a long list of N/A. Looks like nothing was done when I was right there and yes, shots were done! SO here we go trying to get a live person on the phone! See picture. 30 minutes in I finally give up! Do yourself a favor and get a local Vet or Modern Animal has all their prices online and do a much better job and giving you ample information. read more

Don't bother getting the yearly plan. They have hours available and cancel every morning. You won't be able to use your plan because you never know when they're actually in. No answer for over 2 months and the store says they're never available but it's not their problem as it's a separate thing. They should be sued for selling a yearly plan that is useless after the first day. Go to Banfield at Petsmart instead, professional and excellent packages. read more

I wish I could give a positive review but I could not even see them because they keep canceling their clinics. My wife went to Danville's pet food express for their scheduled clinic hours and the store staff told us they cancelled last minute because they didn't have staff. This happened Three times in 2021 and most recently, there was a scheduled clinic at Concord Feed in Dublin for 8/20/22 and sure enough, they cancelled also. Don't waste your time trying to get your pets vax with them. You'll just be frustrated because they don't abide by their advertised dates and time. read more

Went for anal gland expression and nail trimming. I arrived an hour early expecting a long line because I'm used to their pop ups. That early honestly wasn't necessary for a weekday. However, I do recommend arriving at least 20 minutes before 2. They sign you in on a first come first served basis. They start service at 2:30. We were #2 on the list and while it still took us a while to be called back I didn't complain because honestly you pay a small price for services. Techs and vet were extremely nice! Much appreciated!! Slots do fill fast as they are short staffed so if you don't arrive before 2, you likely won't be seen. read more

If you value your time, look for normal vet clinics that mastered the extremely difficult art of managing calendar scheduling. This place does not allow you to schedule appointments. You have to come and join the live appointment list that can give you a 5 min or 5-hour wait time. The website has their schedule listed as 2:30p - 7:30p on weekdays, surprisingly they do have a schedule, but since they don't take appointments over the phone, you can find yourself very lucky coming to join the divine list and find that they all took 30-min break with no other info posted there. If you decide to wait for them to come back and finally join that omnipresent list, you can get very delighted to learn that the list is full and no one even thought that they could post that info next to their break note so that people don't waste their time waiting in there. This place just loves wasting your time and completely disrespecting the time of its clientele. If in 2023 the animal healthcare clinic didn't master the art of scheduling, just do yourself a favor and find one that knows how to use the calendar. read more

I paid for the service to have my dogs vaccinations and lab work done so I can get flea and tick medication. When I asked for a prescription to get the medication they refused to give it to me. They would not provide an explanation. Next time I will go a real vet! It looks as though I have to take her to another vet and pay again for the lab work so I can get the prescription medication. I have already called the customer service line. They also told me VIP will not provide a written prescription for the medication. VIP has scammed me and wants to act as though they will help by writing a response that seems helpful on this site. read more

This location was a complete waste of time. I have never been to VIP Petcare before; when I showed up to a pet food store I was confused so I went inside to ask about the clinic. The front desk lady said someone will come out to put me on the list and to wait outside. I waited for about 15 minutes before a dyed red head with glasses came out to ask "are you all in line for the clinic" which we replied "yes" and she went back inside. Another 45 minutes later of waiting in the heat with my dog for her to come back and I finally go inside to ask about this "LIST" I'm supposedly supposed to get on. Same redhead then tries to put me at the bottom of the list she already made because she claimed she had "asked if we were on the list already" (NO she did not ask if we were on the list. She asked if we were "waiting for the clinic") Two other pet owners and I were in the same situation and she told us the best she could do was put us at the end of the list after we had already been waiting an hour. Very unprofessional and no I do not recommend this location after that employee couldn't be honest about her mistake and tried to gaslight me. Makes me wonder what else they would be willing to cover up to save their own skins. read more

Let me start off my saying I have used VIP services many times and never had an issue until today. The manager here is incredibly unhelpful, unknowledgeable on how to resolve issues, and was also dishonest. I purchased a vaccine package and discovered once going to my regular vet to complete my cats third set of vaccines, that not all the vaccines I paid VIP for were administered. Instead of just apologizing and allowing me to come back to get the vaccine, she suggested I pay them over $50 to come back to get the vaccine I had already paid for! How does this make any sense as a resolution? Also, she blamed me that it was somehow my fault this vaccine was not given because I must've said my cat was "indoors only"...That was a straight up lie because my cat does go outdoors, so why would I say that?... It was beyond outrageous how defensive and idiotic her responses were and the complete unwillingness to try to make it right and remedy the situation. She told me I was asking them to "illegally falsify records"...What??? All I was asking for was the vaccination that I paid for, or a refund for the vaccine I did not receive! I literally waited 4 hours with my cat in a carrier to not even get all the vaccines I paid for. Now I have to go back, when my kittens shots should be completed. I ended up calling the customer service phone number and luckily spoke to a competent person. I was immediately given a free vaccine voucher to use so I can get the vaccine, as well as a sincere apology for how wrongly and poorly the clinic manager handled their mistake. I'm extremely disappointed with the treatment I received from this clinic after my family and I spent hundreds of dollars over the years using VIP. I'm glad I was able to get help and speak to an understanding and well- trained associate in the end that resolved the issue and apologized on the clinics behalf, but it should never of had to get that far. Very unprofessional to be defensive and argumentative...Then to blame and punish the customer and their pet by asking for more money. I hope there's more training given on how to resolve issues when mistakes happen and more clarity if they decide they aren't giving your pet a vaccine you pay for and think they're getting...so in the future no one else has to go through the messy and ridiculous situation I did today. read more

Have gotten services for my young pup, and have such a great experience with very kind staff. I feel very comfortable with the staff handling my mini dachshund. She has gotten a full physical exam, with vaccines, vaccine boosters ,& anal gland expression. The services are very affordable and quick. I just want to repeat how friendly the staff is with us each time and I appreciate the follow up information they give me at end of visit. Also, you can see your animal while they are being seen. Love this place. My awesome veterinarian told me about this place and they had just what I needed for my dog. Service is top notch because the staff is very knowledgeable about what they sell. Easy to find and I always find parking right in front of store. There's always a long line for vet services so call first for more information. I just moved to Austin with my Senior Dog. She needed to get in with a Cardiologist and CVCA was able to get us in very quickly. The service we received from my first phone call was TOP NOTCH! The woman over the phone not only squeezed an appointment in, she made sure to know the location was tricky to find. The actual visit was amazing. My dog had an ultrasound on her heart. We were on time for the visit, the Center was punctual. She went right in upon arrival, the procedure took 15 minutes and the DR called with results and was very thorough with her diagnosis. She took time to answer all my questions. Our appointment was Dr. Bordelon. She helped us understand next steps in my pup's treatment and made sure all the info and findings would be sent to our Internal Medicine Vet. We have used the VIP petcare in Salinas Ca. at Collier pet feed, for the last 3 yrs to give our dogs shots. We never had a problem with them except this last time. We were not allowed to go with our pets, but we could see them where we stood. Our 4 yr adopted Maltpoo( Mickee) did well. It did seem alot longer than last time. Then when they took our 11 adopted at 7yrs old Toy Poodle, (Minnee) the vet was having a hard time. I should have walked up there then. But i am one that follow rules, so I did't I did hear the vet say "oh that hurt" When I picked up Minnee she was shaking. Walking back to the car, I noticed blood on my shirt sleeve and my hand. I looked at Minnee front let and there was alot of blood on her fur. I should have gone right back and have a conversation with the vet. These things happened, but they should have put some of the tape on the injecton site, or at least tell us about it. If this Vet is there next time, we wil pass. The rest of the team was good. But the one assistant that was helping the Vet should have spoke up also about Minnie's injury. read more

The doctors here are great they really love the pets some of the drs staff 1 girl in particular is very rude usually that would cause me to give a bad review it reality is one rude staff member does account for all the great staff there. I definitely recommend but also recommend Packing a bit of patience to deal with sorry people who are not sorry for being rude repeatedly. Funny how much my dogs love this place they like coming here over the other vet I use maybe because they know they will get good stuff when we leave there verses a regular vet with an attempted treat they don't want. Don't waste your time coming here if you've taken your pet to another vet before..... I took my kitten here because he has some sort of eye infection and hasn't been getting good care at the vet I had originally taken him too. I took him to the location by me, but unfortunately the staff at that location told me he needed to go to a wellness center location as they offer more services. They told me he could receive treatment at the wellness center. I drove an hour to take him to the wellness center here in Alameda. The wellness center wasn't busy, but I had to wait off to the side for a while before someone came to talk to me. They didn't even let me get through what the issue was before informing me that they wouldn't see my sick kitten because he had been to another vet before........they told me to take him back to the other vet, gave me no reason why they wouldn't see him other then it was the vets choice to not service animals that had been to another vet. Even though the other vet did nothing to treat him for the issue. Doesn't seem like a caring place given the fact that they turned away my sick kitten for a ridiculous reason! The lady to who helped me was rude and seemed annoyed that I didn't understand why we couldn't be seen, when the other location was aware I had taken him to a vet before and they didn't mention this 'policy'. I told the lady I wouldn't take him back to the other vet, but she said they won't serve me regardless. I am very disappointed seeing as vip pet care was highly recommended. I will not be bringing my pets here ever again, due to the rude staff at the Alameda location. read more
