My hair and make up for my wedding was done here! I have had many services and will only go to this salon. I went to VIP Salon and Spa on two separate occasions: Once for a fill, and the second time for a full set. I was far less than impressed with the quality of service I received both times, though the fill the first time was adequate and the only reason I returned for a full set, which was subpar. The plus is that the front desk staff is friendly and accommodating with appointments, and the salon appears clean, though the decor is dated. If I were rating the salon on the fill only, it probably would get 4 stars, but the full set appointment turned out so terribly that I can barely justify 2. It started with the behavior of the technician, Na (what she went by, not her real name). I like to enjoy my appointments by reading a magazine quietly, as my nail appointments are the only time I get to pamper myself, but she was insistent on talking the entire time, even when I prefaced the appointment by saying that I enjoyed these appointments "for quiet time" and was reading. It wasn't simply that she wouldn't stop talking, but the topics of conversation that she chose. She was extremely intrusive in her questions on my personal life, and when I politely declined answering certain questions or answered vaguely, she would ask over and over again. Just one example is that she asked if I had children and I answered no, she then pressed on by asking when I was going to have them, how old I was, that I shouldn't wait too much longer, if my fiancee was okay with not having children, and then telling me that I would change my mind and it was my job to have them! This on it's own is RAGINGLY inappropriate, but she approached every topic like this, in an intrusive, inappropriate, and judgmental way. I was extremely uncomfortable the entire appointment. As for the service: I requested a full set of gel nails, but the technician did acrylic instead. When I saw her do this on the second nail, I immediately brought it to her attention, but she said it was too late to change. She continued with the arylics, which I do not like but figured I was better off just dealing with to get through the appointment. The nails appeared fine when I walked out of the salon (otherwise I would have immediately complained to management), but it was how they grew out that was beyond appalling. After I got home, I noticed that the acrylic on many nails was over top of the cuticle, when I thought it was just up against the cuticle. It took several days before I could get my cuticles out from under the acrylic, and after about a week of growth, I could see the real problems- because she ran the acrylic over my cuticle instead of next to it, it left a sharp and extremely noticeable ridge at the bottom of my nails. My nails grow very slowly naturally, so for them to look like this just 5 days in was shocking. I called the salon and asked to speak with a manager, however was told first that I had to return within 3 days if I had a problem, then told no manager was available to speak with me. In total, I made 5 calls and never spoke with the salon manager. To make matters worse, at the 8 day mark, my nails started breaking, something that has NEVER happened to me in all the years I have had false nails. I work an office job that is not hard on my nails, so there is absolutely no reason for this beyond the fact that it was a poor quality service with quite possibly poor quality products. I live in the downriver area, however I work out of state and was unable to physically come into the salon, so this was not resolved whatsoever. On top of that, the cost of $50 is absolutely a joke! I do not recommend this salon, but if you do go there, do not get a service with Na. If something goes wrong, don't expect it to be handled appropriately by the manager, who (if the front desk staff is to be trusted) is never in the salon to take complaints or concerns...though in retrospect, who knows if they were being honest about when the manager was there or not. Loved this place. I was referred here eons ago, but never went. It is usually hard to get into spas in the area for services and I usually need last minute appointments. A co-worker suggested after work pedis, and we wanted a nicer kinda place, so I called here and they had two appointments at 6! Whoot! Showed up and we were taken right back, earlier than our appointment time. Room had two chairs and a door for privacy, and the massage chairs were amazing. We were offered drinks, picked our polish, and off we went. Were there about an hour, all for $40! The girls doing the pedis were super nice, and I found out during the appointment that I indirectly knew one of the girls, she was a customer at my office like 7 years ago. Crazy. They told us about this new treatment for nails while we were there, and I think we will def be back. The one negative that annoyed me was not being able to leave a tip on credit card. I was glad my co-worker ha cash, because I rarely carry any on me, and I did not have my checkbook. Anyway, highly recommend this place. read more

I'm going to try my best to keep this short as possible, because if I write everything that sucked about this place then this review will turn into a novel. So to start, the people that work there are so stressed out that they turn into very rude people. They have these short time slots for people so in order to complete a task, the people working there rush and do an awful job. I was with my sister and she was holding back tears, because her lady was hurting her feet while doing a simple pedicure. Also, after spending around three hours, my mother only got her toes done. The people messed up her time schedule so if she wanted to continue her desire of getting a manicure too, she would of have to wait another 30 minutes! My mother said screw it and decided to leave the place without getting her manicure and just wanted to pay for what was done. When to the counter, my mother expressed how upset she was and how this is supposed to be an upscale place. The lady working replied, "this is not one of those cheapy in-and-out salons." So according to this lady, if you want to spend your whole entire day waiting just to get a mani pedi, then this place is perfect for you! But if you want nice nails and good service, then I recommend a different place :) read more

The salon is very nice, and very pricey. I used to get my nails done there, and loved it! I got my hair done once, paid over 200 and will never do it again. Got a massage a few times there but the massage area is in the front of the building and all you hear is semi's and cars. Not very relaxing. I do love their pedicures though read more

I highly recommend VIP Salon, especially Mirsada. She has been cutting/coloring my hair for about one year now. She is an absolute treasure. Her professional skills are top-notch! She is so, so friendly and helpful. I look forward to my appointments, just so I can visit with her. And, she is a miracle worker with hair! She always takes her time and makes sure you are happy with the result. She also does nails! I had a pedicure with her today, and she made it a wonderful experience. She is so gentle and attentive. I scheduled an appointment to have my horrible gel nails revmoved after getting them put on at another salon. My appointment was with Kelly and she was the best! She was able to get all the terrible, thick gel off my nails and gave me a really good manicure with the Gelish polish. I will be going to Kelly from now on for my nails!!! read more

Do not book a massage here! Worst deep tissue massage I have ever had. I asked my masseuse "Jan" to concentrate on my shoulder and back, 10 min later I'm getting told to roll over so she can waist 30 min rubbing oil into my shins?!? Once I had my first visit with Karyn Sauve, I knew...my hair prayers had been answered. When in her chair, all worries of a bad hair day vanish...she is absolutely fabulous at what she does. She is a beautiful person, with a charming personality that makes it seem more like you re talking to a close friend than your hair stylist. I receive many, many compliments on my hair, cut and color and have Karyn to thank for that. Her schedule is very accomodating, she comes in early and stays later than most...making it manageable for any clients busy life. I highly recommend Karyn Sauve! read more

VIP Salon services are great but... I hate their parking and location. If you're lucky and find a parking spot in front the spaces are cramped, limited and hard to get in and out of if you have an suv, van, truck, etc. If you have to park in back its a hike to the back entrance and also cramped. There is a garbage dump located behind the salon with a lot of truck traffic. Its unappealing especially if you have to park in the back lot along the chain link fence with barbed wire. The inside of the salon is like walking through a maze to get to the stylist chairs in the back. The front is crowded with an unnecessary amount of manicure tables. The salon is darkly lit inside and has limited seating for customers. I think their prices are a little high even with their "specials". I was charged the same price on two different occasions; the first was just a trim (no shampoo) and dry, the second was a shampoo, cut, and dry. This bothered me. My biggest pet peeve is you cannot leave a tip when paying with your credit/debit. Also, if you come in the back entrance there is no desk to check in in the back. Everyone just stares at you. Then you have to awkwardley weave your way through the salon to the front. HOWEVER, they offer a wide variety of services. Their staff is experienced. The front desk staff is very friendly. They have a large variety of salon products for purchase. I suppose if you don't care about cost, don't mind the crowded environment, drive a Fiat and want a salon with a lot of variety then this is the salon for you. read more

I had an appointment on Friday, October 15, 2010 @ 9:00 with Sheila. This appointment was very important to me, as this was my daughter's wedding day! The girl who did her hair did a wonderful job, but I was very and when I say very...I cannot even put into words how disappointed I was!!! She took approximately 7 - 9 minutes entirely to do my hair and I would not use the words on the internet to tell you what it looked like!!!! I cried so hard and was so disappointed, it was just a disaster!!!! It looked like some 60's boufant style! I was very embarassed, I had to walk around like that, until I arrived at my niece's and thankfully one of the bridesmaids had her friend there (who is a professional) and she fixed my hair and when she was done, finally it looked great! I really don't know what I would have done if not for her, I guess I would have washed it out again & did it myself, guess that is what I should have done in the first place. My sister and I both went to school to do hair and let me tell you neither of us has seen such a nasty looking hair do (if that is what you want to call it)!!! I probably should have came back in and said something, but after the first event, I don't think she could have pulled of anything that would have looked remotely good! The thing of it is, I don't have long hair, it's not hard to do...I just don't understand what the deal with her was that day. She did not seem in a good mood, even my daughter thought she was kind of rude. I am sorry to complain, as I know that your salon is well known and probably has many people that are very good at what they do, but not that one!!!! After I had my hair re-done, I got so many compliments, it's just to bad that I had to come in there on my daughter's wedding day in a good mood and pay for something that would have looked better if I had slept on it the night before!!! All I did was cry until I finally got my hair re-done, it ruined alot of my day. That is not the day that you want anything to go wrong as I am sure you can understand. I might sound like a b***h, but if u knew me, you would know that I don't complain, usually I just cry & let it go! But I felt that you needed to know about this and hope that it doesn't happen to someone else!!! Unsatisfied customer! I use to go to the salons out in the Birmingham & Novi area but soon grew tired of the time and the expense of the high end salons and decided to try the salon in my area and I am so happy that I did. My hair stylist is Ashley and she is the best. I am very, very picky with my hair. I keep it long and get it double processed with blonde hi-lites and she always exceeds my expectations. She does a fabulous job and always keeps it looking healthy as well. I recently decided to take the plunge and get hair extensions. I was a little nervous at first because extensions are an investment and I didn't want them to ruin my hair or have them look fake. Ashley assured me that they would turn out beautifully and they sure did !! I am so very happy with my extensions and I get compliments on them all of the time. And when I do tell people that they are extensions, no one believes me. Ashley is the best !The salon is very cute and they have a lot of great products like Pureology or Moroccan Oil they offer a lot of great services like nails and massage. read more

i had my haircut by sherry on fri 10/24 and i have been working with this cut and am not happy. i showed her a video of the cut i would like and she said she could do that. WRONG! i made an appt. for today to show her the uneveness .she called me this morn before my appt. and asked whats wrong i told her its uneven, she told me she gave me a perfect cut and would recommend me to someone else and its not going to work out between us. i been seeing this woman for about 3 years. most of the time its for trims. i tip her well. her attitude was very arrogant and surprising ,that she did no wrong and did a perfect cut.and not taking into consideration to even look at it. I paid for a service , and she acts like she was the one wronged. So i quess maybe she did me a favor, that i will find a good hairstylist, which i have in the past. She is not one of them. A good hairstylist is someone who knows how to use the scissors its an art!!! When you get compliments from strangers about your hair you can thank your hairstylist! And sherry not once have i got a compliment about my hair cut since i have been seeing you. read more
