A close friend of mine has two dogs, whom I had the pleasure of dog sitting while she tended to other business. I was over 6 months pregnant at the time I begged to take them in (for 8 days), and days later, I realized the Samoyed and Corgi were a lot more work than I thought manageable. If I were on a Zoom meeting, the pair would have me cut it short. If I stepped out to grab groceries for dinner, they'd scratch my doors and cry for the entirety of my absence (according to my neighbor down the hall). Worst of all, the Samoyed sheds... A LOT. I like an ultra tidy home. A few days in, I called my friend (dog owner) to let her know they were much more than I was willing to deal with. She understood, and informed me her dogs get dropped off at VIP's Pet Hotels on a monthly basis when she's tending to her economic research. She was ready to pick them up and drop them off at this hotel. Instead, I called the hotel, and got a hold of Danielle who was so gracious to wait for my arrival that same evening for a drop-off. I was easily able to drive them over, drop them off, and have them well taken care of for a few more days. Due to COVID: They request that you do NOT bring soft toys from home, dog beds/blankets, or dog bowls; instead, simply pack the dogs' food and treats and they'll be ready to tend to the dogs upon arrival. I unsuccessfully searched all over the city for competitive daycare that wouldn't break the bank. VIP is by unequivocally the most affordable and accommodating. I LOVE how easy it is to communicate with them via text instead of missing another email or voicemail throughout the workday. Golden doodles are known for their separation anxiety, but you know they're in good hands when your dog is excited to go! Winston waits at the door for day care pick up and excitedly sprints when we drop him off overnight. * DAYCARE - They pick up our dog and drop him off even when we're not home. They also pick up other dogs in our apartment complex so if we have a last minute change of plans it's no problem for them to scoop up our little Winnie. Throughout the day they'll send you videos of your dog playing. * TRAINING - Matt made us feel reassured during our consultation and reiterates that they don't accept clients who are not committed to maintaining training. We opted for the board and train, but they offer classes as well. * BOARDING - it's a huge facility, so we never have issues with drop in boarding. Complete trash. I've read a few of these reviews. Maybe Matt and Zach would've treated me and my dogs better than the woman currently running this show. She will run the business to the ground. They tried to overcharge me without telling me upfront when I booked what 'extra costs' they would charge. When I refused their extra charges she told me basically to never come back. Cute. When your unprofessionalism put you in this situation you're telling ME to not come back. That goes without saying but wow. I sent a ton of extra food - wasn't returned. Maybe it was fed to other dogs and those parents were charged $5 a day for another dog's food. I sent a crate insert and a blanket so my dogs would feel a little relief in an environment that I know would give them extreme anxiety. They didn't return those either. The lady flipped out when I brought them in (she said people bring in $200 dollar beds and get upset when their dogs tear them up) so I guess she was basically telling me she wasn't going to return them. Another lady who was there when I picked them up said there was feces on them. Never. Not my dogs. But I'll definitely comply. I won't be back and I'll tell anyone who'll listen to never take their pets to this establishment. There's much more I could say about how I feel my dogs were treated but I'll end it here. I probably won't ever kennel my dogs again anywhere after this experience. read more

Review is for our 6 year old indoor Cat Grooming. She had a lot of fur bunching up and had soiled herself due to a litter accident. She needed a thorough bath and combing. We had never given her a professional bath before and were quite nervous that she would not respond well to a bath. But it wasn't the case. The lovely groomers and caretakers, Matthew, groomed my cat really well including giving her a soapy bath!! We are so thrilled to have her all cleaned up. Topanga feels great too. WELL! Came by a few weeks later for our second visit! This time just an overnight stay for the 2 pups. Dropped them off 9am saturday morning and picked them up around 5pm on sunday. We needed to vacuum the couches and wash the carpets and with 2 dogs terrified of a vacuum we decided to drop them off for an overnighter. We came back sunday to 2 wiped out happy dogs! And for 100$ for 2 dogs for a total of 20 hours that comes out to 5$/hr. FOR 2 DOGS! What a deal! PLUS they get to join in the day care!? I may just end up bringin them for a sleepover once a week when i need to clean the house at those rates! read more

We adopted our female red heeler, Moro, only a couple months before we had to settle on boarding her due to a two-week overseas trip that was already in the books. I was super concerned about having to do this since she's had a stressful time adjusting to her new living situation and was beginning to develop skittish, reactive behavior around people. Luckily, the employees at VIP's are great; they have thorough experience in dealing with nervous dogs and neurotic pet parents like me. I really appreciated how relaxed they were regarding my dog's behavior, assuring me that how she was feeling isn't anything new & is entirely normal. We echo everyone else's comments on the friendliness, experience, and professionalism of the staff, plus how clean/top-of-the-line the entire facility is: from the kennels, to the heated/cooled floors, etc. We also love their playtime policies where they make sure your dog is grouped with others that it feels comfortable with. Playgroups are smaller so they are better monitored. Since we were traveling overseas, we were emailed video updates every couple of days to see how Moro was doing. It was so nice to see her making new friends with other dogs, but what I loved the most was seeing how comfortable she became around the staff. When we finally picked her up, she was all smiles & jumps. Apparently she was an absolute sweetheart the whole time during her stay and even helped the staff with herding the dogs back into their kennels after playtime. A true heeler! After our experience with VIP's, we now see that boarding her at their facility was one of the best things we have done to help her socialize better with both humans & other dogs. VIPs is amazing! We are so grateful to have them come pick up our pup and drop him off everyday, as having a puppy with no care can be a nightmare!! They are very responsive when we ask for pictures and videos, and Griffey always comes back super tuckered out. All of the employees are so nice and the lady that picks him up everyday is so great! They recently had a case of kennel cough and we really really really appreciate the measures they are taking to make sure it doesn't spread. While it's not ideal to not have our doggie at daycare, I think everyone knows that stuff like that is unavoidable (like a kid getting chicken pox at daycare), and they have been so accommodating to make sure it doesn't spread but they are also providing services still. I haven't even started using their services yet and I'm already writing a glowing review. My pup was supposed to come along to visit family out of town for Thanksgiving, but due to some new behaviors he's developed, he's no longer welcome-- and this was decided 10 days before we were to leave. I called VIP's yesterday and spoke to Matthew to see if they had any space given how close the holidays are, and he quickly checked their availability and confirmed. I wanted to swing by to visit with my dog, but because this was all so last minute, I was busy every day after work this week except today, and Matthew was kind enough to stick around and give me a 20-minute tour, answering all my questions thoroughly as they were trying to close. Aside from how great he was with my dog, there were so many little things he mentioned, like no breed restrictions and their protocol for matching new dogs to play groups, that really put me at ease. Perhaps the most pleasant surprise, though: it didn't smell like pee at all. It smelled SO clean. Like, I wish my house always smelled that clean. In fairness, they had just finished cleaning up for the night, but of the four boarding facilities I've checked out in the six months I've had my dog, this was easily the biggest, cleanest, and most reassuring place I've been. We found VIP Pet Hotels when our general boarding facility was full for the holidays. I am an admitted crazy dog parent so I was somewhat hesitant to board my dog at a new location. My husband and I were very impressed with the facility and they welcomed our daily calls to check in on our dog. As it turns out, the owner's son actually slept with our dog one night because she seemed scared - so kind. They also washed all her bedding. Every time I take my doberman puppy outside, I say a little thank you to Dave Reese. Dave's background in the military and police sector is unlike any other trainer I'd come across in Chicago which is why I chose to do the 6-week private training course at VIP's. At 45lbs, my puppy used to pull me down the street every day and was wildly unpredictable as puppies are. Now, my 75lb dobe will run from any distance and heel to a (nearly) perfect sit at my left side, no matter what he is doing, what he sees or what he is playing with. Dave's training is simple, straightforward, and very unlike the treat- and reward-based "positive" (and largely ineffective) training methods that are so common. It is also time-consuming and requires you to work with your dog every day in between sessions. Finally, it's not the cheapest option, by a long shot. Yet, it is very effective, and will create a lasting bond of mutual respect between you and your dog that will endure for the rest of your furry friend's life. I have literally called my dog back from chasing a rabbit, from playing with his best buddy at the dog park, from running toward the street - you name it. Just last week I put him in a sit, stay at the cash register of Pet Supplies Plus while I walked to the very back of the store to find a staff member and he had not moved a muscle when we returned a few minutes later. Trusting that my dog will obey me regardless of the distractions around him is worth every penny and every hour I spent reinforcing the simple building blocks Dave gave me to work on every week. VIP's is not the kind of place where you'll find a dog massage therapist on staff or a "luxe" anything, but it is the kind of place with the absolute best of everything that matters (kennels, facility, quality of care). It's the kind of place where the owner himself will pick you up and drop you off, free of charge, for your training session because it's pouring out. I LOVE THIS PLACE!!!! I was leaving out of town on a Thursday but couldn't get my dog Luey there at the appropriate time for drop off on Thursday. The owner was so understanding so he let me drop off Luey Wednesday night for free!!! That was such a huge relief for me! When I came to pick Luey up, the owner showed me video of Luey playing with other dogs and Luey seemed so happy when I picked up him. Once we got home, it seemed as if he played so much at the hotel that he couldn't stop playing once he got home! I can't say enough good things about VIP's Pet Hotel! I recently took a 3 1/2 week trip to Asia and needed care for my two pugs. I took a tour of the facility first, and interviewed Dave the owner, as I wanted to make sure my pups were going to be in good hands. The building is impeccably clean, and offers a ton of space for the pups to run around during play time. They go outside for tinkle breaks once an hour, and get plenty of time to socialize with other dogs. While I was away, Dave gave me his skype address, so I could check in and make sure the dogs were doing fine. He always responded immediately when asked for a progress report, which was extremely comforting. And when it was time to pick the pugs up, they didn't want to leave! It's evident from every corner of VIP's facility the love and care they have for dogs. I have no qualms about leaving my pups there, as I know they will be receiving the best care. We love VIP's! We have been taking our dog Ginsburg to daycare once per week to help with socialization-she is a rescue with an abuse history and she occasionally has some anxiety issues. Matt and the rest of the staff were very understanding and listened to my concerns about my dog and our goals. They are all very comfortable with dogs, even anxious ones, and that is very helpful! She is starting to get much more comfortable around people and other dogs; she loves going to daycare and she gets excited when we head for the door. We recently boarded Ginsburg for the holidays-it was my first time boarding her so I was nervous. We got updates daily of how she was doing, included texted videos which I really appreciate. She got medication daily without any issues. When we picked her up we got a full report and she continues to blossom with VIP's! The facility itself is very clean-I think they clean it multiple times per day. It appears to be constantly improving! Parking is easy on Lake. We can't say enough good things about VIP's! This place is a life saver. I needed a last minute place to board my dog Bud for the holidays, and in Chicago, you can't board a dog if he doesn't have up-to-date shots. Unfortunately, Bud's owner forgets about these very important details. But with VIP, that's not a problem. They have a vet on-site to take care of the shots. So don't stress about finding a vet for the shots, and then worry about finding a kennel; VIP takes care of it all. I've never seen customer service as good as this place. You can tell this business is truly a labor of love for David and his crew. They do an amazing job of caring for the dogs. I almost felt bad taking Bud back home, because he had such a wonderful time there. The dogs are very well taken care of: they get lots of time to play, the kennels are huge, their training room is AMAZING, and even the floors are heated! They even washed Bud's doggy bed for me. From the first phone call we made inquiring about boarding our two dogs (Westie & Maltipoo) to picking them up after their stay, the entire experience was 5-star/excellent/top-notch! My wife and I stopped by on a Sunday to tour the facility. We imagined it would be a quick 10 minute tour that walked us through the basic details. We were surprised to actually meet the owner (and his son who works there as well) and receive an hour-long in depth tour/conversation with them both. It is immediately apparent that the owner is truly passionate about dogs and has worked with them in a variety of settings his entire life. You could easily say he is an expert in the field. We really enjoyed learning about his experiences/accomplishments over the years. It's a reminder that your dogs will be in good hands at VIP's. After the tour, we were convinced this was the place to go. Their facilities were built with great attention to detail. From heated floors to massive skylights allowing the dogs to better acclimate to the time/get some vitamin D to the genius irrigation system to keep the kennels clean, VIP's is top of the line. We were really excited about the fact that the dogs spend one hour in the kennels (which are huge!) then spend one hour running around in a large open area with a small group of dogs. I don't know of any place that allows the dogs so much play time. It's amazing! They also determine which dogs interact well with one another, and will only put well-mannered dogs together during play time, while the more "energetic" dogs are put out in groups that they have shown to interact well with. They are constantly being monitored with your dog's safety being their #1 priority. One amazing thing that we looked forward to every day was the video that they would text us of all the dogs during play time. It was truly appreciated as we got to see how our dogs were doing while we were away. You could ask any questions you want to the staff and they would happily text you back. VIP's has hands down earned our loyal business and we will be recommending them to friends and family. Their facility is amazing, staff is wonderful, the PRICES are fantastic, and the amount of play time/care the dogs receive is out of this world. VIPs is THE BEST doggie day care in Chicago, hands down. We sent our dog Oliver a 2-3 times a week for over a year before we moved out to the west coast, and we wish we could have brought the entire team with us! When we first moved to Chicago, we visited and toured three other doggie day cares in the city, all of which spent 5-10 minutes showing us around, gave us a brochure, and that was that. Upon our first visit to VIPs, Dave, the owner, let us and Oliver hang around for a couple of hours to truly get to know him, his team, the facility and their operations. I am an extremely protective/paranoid dog-mom, but I felt completely at ease by the time we left. Before sending Oliver for the first time, they asked if we wanted to a bed/blanket or toys to make him comfortable during rest time. They also consistently send videos of Oliver playing with the other dogs, and it always looks like he is having the time of his life. These are just a few examples of the many personal touches that make up their brand. Everyone at VIPs is so incredibly nice, trustworthy, reliable and responsive. I met the owner the day before I dropped my dog off and felt very comfortable with him and leaving my pup with him. HIGHLY RECOMMEND FOR BOARDING. this was the first time we used VIP's, and we were running late for our flight. We called VIP's, and Dave, the owner, met us outside to take our dog in so we could expedite the check in. Every time we called to check on her, the staff was courteous and answered our questions politely (other places we've used seemed annoyed at our calls). The entire facility is spotless. Quite a facility. A CPD family bought a huge warehouse and renovated it to create a practical palace. The suites are plush with flat screens for the dogs to watch their favorite movies before bed. The play area for daycare is big, with indoor/outdoor capability on non "polar vortex" days and separate smaller spaces. There's an agility room too to put your dog through the paces, although our golden preferred to run in wild crazy circles. She had a great time at daycare and tried to show me the playroom when I came to pick her up. Seriously girl, let's go home. The facility is clean, staff is amazing and they accommodate my hectic schedule. My dog loves the Spa Bath and the attention he get by all the staff. I have brought my 2 larger dogs here 3 times since I moved here last December. They definitely know their stuff about dogs, and they are really getting their business smarts together (I believe they only opened a little over a year ago). The first two times I dropped them off for long weekends. This last trip I left them for 9 days. I used to board them in New Orleans, and they couldn't socialize there and were only let out by themselves. That facility said they just got too stressed out in the large group of dogs: one dog became aggressive and the other terribly anxious. I told Dave this, and actually selected his facility because they allow for private play time when necessary. He asked me if I would trust them to try letting them socialize and then switch to private play if that seemed better for the dogs. He had told me so many wonderful anecdotes on our extensive tour that I decided to go for it. My dogs have never come back from boarding so well balanced. They would always come back from a long stay somewhat hyper, or so wiped out that I suspect they hardly slept. This time, after an extended stay, they seemed happy and relaxed, just like their normal selves. The woman at the desk and Dave (who is literally always there) were telling me about different dogs mine had made friends with and describing perfectly the way they've always played in the dog park when I take them. I know they were truly paying attention and giving an appropriate level of supervision while still letting dogs be dogs and play together. I feel totally comfortable letting my dogs socialize there, and I'm thrilled that they're able to because I know it makes for a much more pleasant stay for them. This was the longest time I've left them at VIP's Dog Hotel for boarding, and I would not have any qualms doing it again. They really care about the dogs and have the knowledge and experience to take care of them as well (if not better!) than I do. read more

I was visiting Chicago for an event and after much research I decided to leave my toy puppy at the hotel overnight. I have never left my pet behind anywhere so I was a little skeptical but after a few discussions with Bess, she convinced me that my pup would be in good hands. PROS: My pup was picked up on time. I was instructed by the owner to call in as much as I wanted too. Dave sent me a video when I called to check in on him. They answered the phone or returned my call right away. CONS: They should install cameras like other establishments so you can check in on your pup as often as you'd like. I don't believe they followed my feeding instructions. (Came home and found that the food, kibble, and treats were all mixed in the baggie.) My pup is a picky eater and does not eat his food this way. He was extremely thirsty, I'm not sure he had enough to drink. Overall, I would recommend and leave him there again and Dave the owner has 20 plus years experience in dog training. read more

Can't say enough good things about VIPs. Our 7 mo old husky has been going here since she was a little pup and loves it. She gets so excited when she senses we are near in the morning. We take advantage of the fantastic daycare service and in addition to having no worries that she's impeccably taken care of, there's a vet clinic on site! Regular shots, checkups or follow up visits within one stop! So convenient. Grooming is fantastic. They are simply so professional yet truly caring and down to earth. Lastly, training here is a must.
