Red Vein was a lot of fun, and this was a great first time experience!…read more While I have done a number of the haunts local to the Richmond area, this was my first time at Red Vein. I had heard it was one of the better ones and they certainly delivered. A bit under $25 gets you a bit over an hour's scare-ntertainment, which is a lot per hour but it's a jam-packed hour so it works. When you arrive, there are employees directly traffic to parking, which are unmarked grass spaces. Front workers were nice and a handful of scarers were walking around to psyche folks up for the experience. You end up waiting in a few lines here and there: ticket purchase, front gate, and then a line for each of the four experiences, all tied together with a sort of loose cult/corporate storyline. Each one is a lot of fun and there are plenty of clever layouts and props to keep you guessing about where the next scare will come from. One of the toughest things to do at these places is pace lines, since if folks get squished together the scarers can't reset effectively. Unfortunately we happened to be behind the slowest group known to man and in front of a group of scared teens who could not wait to be done with the whole thing. This took away from the experience a bit but I chock it up to bad luck rather than Red Vein. Ultimately this turned out to be an awesome place to commemorate spooky season and I would absolutely do it again next year! Overall: 4.5 stars ---- Pros: - Great staff, both the front workers and the scare crew. - Fun experience with a lot of variety and creativity. - Great logical flow to the setup to try to pace things better. - Lots of parking. Cons: - Sometimes bad luck in group placement will hinder your experience, and while that happened to us, hopefully it won't to you. - Price isn't terrible but it is a lot for a brief experience. - Making a more permanent parking setup (or at least spraying some lines in the grass) would go a long way to making entrance and exit better.

The Richmond Folk Festival is so Richmond and one of our city's best festivals. It's been happening…read morefor about 20 years. I think it's so wonderful that it's a free festival filled with so much culture. I grew up going to festivals in DC almost every weekend and this reminds me of those amazing festivals. There were about five different stages set up across our park system (near the James River). Various acts of music genres from all over the world were playing throughout the weekend. There is something for everyone. One of the highlights for me this year was the Flea Circus at the family tent. It was so wholesome and fun. Another annual highlight for me is the craft tent with beautiful handmade goods. One of my favorites is this Turkish store's booth with stunning tiles and bowls. There are plenty of food options here too. The "food court" can be found on Brown's Island, but this year there were food options scattered in the Belle Isle parking lot and a park on top of the hill too. I'm not sure what the parking situation looks like because I normally walk to the festival. I highly recommend walking or biking to avoid the heavy traffic you will inevitably run into during the festival. The Richmond Folk Festival is fun no matter what age you are. It celebrates music and cultures from around the world. I highly recommend visiting it each year.

Most of the games are well-maintained and fun to play, which is a heck of an accomplishment when most of the games are as old as I am. I did get somewhat annoyed that my kiddo and I had sat at the bar when nobody was there so we could eat and drink and then we left our drinks on the bar since we were still drinking and they were very cold. We came back a few minutes later and sat back in the seats with our drinks and the new bartender told us that my kiddo couldn't sit there since it was 21 and older only. Okay, that's annoying, but we grabbed our sodas and moved to the table beside the bar, BUT THEN a dad and his kid come up and sit at the bar... and she serves them without chasing them off... So... apparently it's only SOME 12 year olds can't sit at the bar with their parents? Or maybe only the ones whose parents are drinking cocktails and not ones who are drinking diet sodas and eating fries? Also, the bar is HUGE and it is not at all crowded on a random weekend afternoon. And even though there are tables and cup holders near every gaming station, my kiddo has ASD and he is a wanderer, so we left our food and drinks at our table, and they change bartenders about every two hours, so our table got bussed by the new bartender and we had our almost entirely full basket of funnel cake fries and drinks thrown away. The sodas got remade, which was nice, but also... that's like $8 out of $11 worth of funnel cake fries that got tossed. Not like we can walk around with those at the small gaming tables. So I wish there was a little "I'm still gaming, please don't throw away my food." Coaster or something you could put on the table so they know not to waste your food. Or avoid ordering greasy bar food unless you can eat it all in one sitting, which... isn't always easy. I would absolutely come back and play the heck out of the games. I would just probably eat first next time.

The nuggets were fried soft and the Mac and cheese was mushy and cold. We also ordered the salmon balls which were slightly overcooked. Dellwood should have had two trucks to spread out the work and allow them to recover.

I think catching a game is one of the best things to do in Richmond.

As luck would have it, I was right; several hats and shirts were 40-50% off. Plus, I had the opportunity to ask some questions with the team's staff. They mentioned that I needed to return for the 2025 season; plus, they're building a new stadium called CarMax Park, which will open in 2026. Also, you can't miss the stadium; I mentioned to the staff that it looks as if someone dropped a section of Atlanta-Fulton County Stadium in Richmond.

There were 3 different stages where people were playing. Every 20 minutes there was someone else going on. There was an open mic stage outside. The other 3 were inside. There were a few different places to get beer. One set up looked like a bar and had a few tables close by. A few people just started jammin together as others gathered around and drank and watched. Outside there were a few different options for food. 3 food trucks and 3 food stands. They had beer outside with a tent and a few tables to sit. It seems like when the place gets packed at the end of the night that everyone would be out there. They had 2 Legend beers a cider and Bud Light.

The energy was electric and everyone was so funny (definitely a testament to how good the class must be). The show was about 2 hours and for only 14 dollars was an extreme value! Loved being able to laugh and cheer on strangers as they did something for the first time. They also had a concessions stand that appeared to sell drinks and a few snacks, I didn't indulge but it was nice to know that was an option. Coalition theater provides a bridge between entertainment and community which I really loved. I'd definitely reccomend giving one of their shows a try if you are looking for a fun night alone, with friends or for a date night!

When you sign up for a class, you get a free show pass for the season you're signed up. My 101 was with Emilee and she was incredible. I loved her positive energy and feedback. She really supported us and helped us grow. My 201 was with Chris and I loved how passionate he was about improv. Him and our TA took amazing notes to help us improve our improv. He also took the time to sign us up for extra practices during open mic nights at the theater. If you're looking to take comedy classes or just want to catch a show, Coalition Theater is the place for you. You can catch shows Thursdays through Saturdays. They have drinks and snacks for sale during shows. There is a gender neutral bathroom. There are three rows of seating and it's a pretty intimate space. It's an awesome community of supportive and inclusive people.
