Do not recommend. We wasted time and money on weed control treatments that did NOT work, and the 100% client satisfaction is non-existent. When we started with Virginia Green last summer, our lawn needed strong, and diligent weed treatment. After the first treatment, we waited for results. We were told it 'would take time.' One weed began to die (wilted) after the first treatment. The other weeds were rampant and continued to spread. Due to the lack of results, we scheduled an additional treatment as suggested by the sales contact. Late in the summer, due to the lack of weed control, I asked for a re-treament and was told a tech would be out. I called when I didn't hear from the company after a few weeks, and was told it would happen that week or the next. Again, no one came out so I called again. I was told the same story, 'a tech will be out there this week.' I was told there was just enough time prior to the seeding. Needless to say the treatment never happened. At that point, my husband spoke with the company and was told it was too late as we were due for seeding. We were told the weeds would definitnely die off in the cold weather and freezes. Now it is early February, and we have had multiple long freezes with ice and snow. The weeds flourished through the winter, and are in great health after all the rain. PS Noted that many of the positive reviews are almost the same "you get what you pay for", "lush and green", "brand name (fill in the blank) never worked", etc. read more

I was extremely dissatisfied with the level of customer service I received from the Chesterfield Virginia Green. I had requested an estimate for lawn care treatment, and received a call back from a representative. My lawn was inspected and I was given a quote based on needed treatment, to include core aeration and over seeding in the fall. I had verbally agreed to the estimate, and I was ready to initiate the treatment. I then received a follow up call from the same representative, informing me that they had not calculated the correct square footage of my lawn, and that they would need to re-quote. I was told that I would receive a follow up call the next day. After two days, I placed another call to the representative to follow up. I left a message to have the return my call, but to date, I have not received a call back. I consider this very poor customer relations, and I am very offended by the lack of professionalism. Lawn doesn't look any better than it did when they started treating it 6-7 months ago. It was $58 per treatment for just my front yard. There are still patches of area with no grass or weeds. I would have expected better results. Poor customer service when inquiring about results. Also, they subject their employees to work in conditions that aren't suitable for anyone. When extreme, hot, & humid weather conditions prohibit long, strenuous, work they still make them go out and work. Multiple workers have gone to ER for heat related illnesses, yet they still push to work them in these conditions. It seems apparent all they care about is making a profit. We love VA Green. We've been using them for almost a year and our lawn is so beautiful. It is important to follow the tips that they leave for you such as watering your lawn at the proper times and cutting the grass very high. Overall, we are pleased with their service and the results! read more

Awful!....first time contacting last week, they sounded knowledgeable and made an appointment for Friday. Took time off to make sure I was here and they didn't turn up. they then called later to make an appointment and said they had nothing on their files indicating I had made one for that day!! I told him to call me back the following week to rearrange as I wanted to be here and wanted to know where and what they were spraying before continuing. Then, Tuesday at about 730am, my wife told me there was a guy in our yard spraying it!! Just turned up!! I had made it clear that I a) wanted to be here b) wanted to actually MAKE an appointment before they could come on my property. I called to complain and they called me back twice, each guy appearing as if he hadn't spoken to the previous one. And for the record guys....calling a customer 'Bud' when he is obviously unhappy, does not help your cause!! Cancelled them now and wont go back. read more

More people need to know about this place! We had our home built and the builder put seed and straw in the backyard. Needless to say, we had tons of weeds growing in the back - hardly any grass growing. We hired Virginia Green to do a lawn renovation, which consists of several steps. Just 10 days ago, we had them come out to do the aeration and seeding and wow, within a week we started seeing young baby grass covering our lawn. I was pretty skeptical as our lawn was pretty dried and bare, but wow, I couldn't believe my eyes. They are very professional; each time they will leave letters detailing what they did today and instructions for you to follow. We followed the instructions and wow, the results so far has been amazing! The only thing is they are not cheap though...but I guess you get what you pay for! read more

I was not pleased with Virginia Green's service. When the saleswoman came out to provide an estimate she promised that Virginia Green Lawn Care would rid my lawn of weeds and I "would be sending her a Christmas card." I used them for over a year but they were not able to make good on her promise. The weeds remained and I figured I could fertilize the lawn on my own so I ended my service. read more

Only lawn chemical company that has been successful making my yard look great. Always thought I had too many trees, too much shade, and no irrigation so other than a few weeks in the spring and fall was doomed to sparse brown lawn over the summer. Whatever they have done over the past 3 seasons (did not expect results over night) has made the roots drought proof and soil a worm habitat instead of feeding grubs. Not cheap, but honestly, in Central Virginia I really believe they are the only lawn company worth spending any money on. read more

I went with VA Green about 6 months ago after reading online reviews. It seem that most was very happy with their service. I had a very different experience with VA Green. I purchased their Estate Plan ($86 monthly fee) to keep my lawn weed free. After 6 months of service, my back lawn is filled with weeds. I called twice and spoke with VA Green, nothing changed. My wife was home during the last service and watch the service man enter and leave my lawn in under 8 minutes. (My lawn isn't small, most of my neighbors have a riding lawn mower). After that, I called and canceled my monthly service. I would not recommend VA Green Lawn Care to anyone. read more

I have really been disappointed with Virginia Green this year. The past 2 years have been great. I know that this has been a brutal summer; however, I have watered 1.5" per week and I have never had as many weeds as I have this year. I am speaking of the front yard only. I am having the back yard (which you are also taking care of) totally redone. Incidentally, your service man told me to spray Roundup on a large patch of weeds. I really thought that this was something that your service took care of. Hopefully, your service will be back to its usual standards in 2016. read more

REALLY bad experience with this company. Salesman "David" is a sleeze and a compulsive liar. One frustration after another. After a year of paying Virginia Green big bucks to treat the lawns at THREE of our properties, it came to light that they had not been treating the back yards AT ALL. I called them, and David was rude and told me that "we had agreed" that back yards were not to be treated. REALLY? This is after we signed up a year earlier and he pulled the bait and switch on us...giving us one price...then raising it to include the back yard. We paid the higher price for a year...then found out the back yard had not been treated ALL YEAR! When we called, he called back after 3 days and was stunningly rude to me....reiterated that we "had agreed" ...which was not the case...we went through a frustrating exercise trying to get our account straight A YEAR AGO, and then he flat-out hung up on me. I was very displeased with Virginia Green Lawn Care's service. Although they faithfully came out and treated my lawn as scheduled during the course of nearly a year, very little attention was given to the lawn during each treatment. When I phoned in September about a particular area of weeds/running grass that continued to spread, I was told by Virginia Green that I had missed the opportunity to treat this area and that treatment should have been done in August and that it would be futile for them to do anything at this stage. I asked him if it was really up to ME to bring this area of the lawn to his attention given that it was for exactly this reason that I had hired a lawn service in the first place. He said that the technicians were very busy and that these issues were not specific to only my lawn and that these were common lawn problems in Virginia. Again...wouldn't that make this lawn service especially attentive to these problems? Areas of my lawn did look great, but for the cost involved, I was expecting a better result. I decided to cancel my service after a rather unpleasant conversation with a gentleman at Virginia Green. Zero customer service or customer care. Good riddance! read more
