When our regular vet didn't find anything wrong, the VVC saved my dog's life! He had stomach issues for a few months and when he was severely bloated the VVC and their thorough team found that he had a massive tumor and was bleeding internally. He had surgery and is now back to being his happy playful self! Thanks to the team for taking care of our boy so that we could bring him home!

I don't know where to start. I got my dog Chloe in May of 2023. She had issues with potty training since I got her, so I assumed something was wrong so I took her to the vet to find out she has a recessed uterus which is more susceptible to UTI's and urinary inconsitency, so my GP recommended I take her to VVC. Of course it's an hour drive, but I didn't mind, I'd drive to California if I had to. I made an appointment with VVC on January 29th, 2024. We pulled up a little early, so I called the front desk to see if I could come in early because she hated the car they said yes, and we ended up waiting for around 30 minutes. I still didn't mind this, I understood my dog was there for a small issue and other dogs had actual emergencies. They pull us back into the exam room, and the first lady couldn't of been nicer. She was understanding, and asked me everything I knew. Dr. Laia came into the room after taking her in the back and was immediately asking me to give my dog a $700 ultrasound that she said "wouldn't show us a lot", and then said that a $3000 CT scan would show us more. I was astounded that a 5 minute exam was enough for me to pay almost 4 grand to figure out what was wrong with my dog and continued to insist Chloe needed the test. She recommended to take her home and watch to see if she was leaking any urine and said she'd call me back in a weeks time to see if there was any changes. When we went to the front desk to pay, it was $180, which I didn't mind and my pet insurance covered it so there was no need to ask for a payment plan. Nevertheless, there was no notification there was an optinon of a payment plan, or any sort of pay program. 3 WEEKS LATER, on March 27th I get an email acknowledging the numerous voicemails I had left. The level of communication at this facility is unremarkably terrible. Finally when she had called me, we talked about a vulvioplasty and spaying at the same time, which I was in favor of. We went over the procedure and asked for an estimate, to which she said she said it'd be around $3500. I was again, fine with this price but recently my insurance had canceled their credit card, which I would normally put all my pet expenses on until I was reimbursed by my insurance. I asked about a payment plan, which they denied. I was frustrated by this, but I loved my insurance so I called them and asked about a pre-approval. My amazing insurance does but only on the condition the Vet accepts direct payment from my insurance, so I call the vet back up and asked them. The lady at the front desk picked up, and I do want to apolgozie to her, because she was truly only a middle-man. She tells me that the vet only accepts direct payment from their insurance, TruPanion. I was amazed and pretty much lost my mind. First of all, you guys don't offer a payment plan and then after that, you guys won't even accept an insurance money? I don't understand the business logistics of this place, basically making pet parents go into debt, or not care for their pet. God forbid my dog was ever in an actual emergency or she'd die on the table. No one this country can pull $3500 out of their ass out of the blue, which is why people have INSURANCE. I asked to speak to a manager or an accountant or anyone who knew more about finances, to which I was transfered to a voicemail. Mind you, this call happend on the 5th of April. It's the 19th as I'm writing this with still no email, call, text, or any form of communication to whether or not they will get back to me. Let it be known, this place doesn't care about caring for your pet, they just want your money. If you cannot fork out the money for your pet immediately, take your dog somewhere else. I attached photo evidence below of all the call conversations, just so they wouldn't try to claim they tried to contact me.

You're office cut my English Bulldog's life expectancy in half! Visit my profile and watch my live video explaining exactly what we went through! We are determined to get our money back! Their staff member Ashley has some explaining to do! Our dog was diagnosed with lymphoma in January. He had about a month or two to live. After visiting with VVC We decided and a five round chemo treatment which would be done every two weeks five times. Best case scenario would be he live for at least another year, maybe longer. Our first appointment was on February 14th at 9:30am. We completed his first chemo treatment and paid a little over $500. Totally fine. Money is not an issue. Second appointment was on March 6th at 9:00am. We completed his second chemo treatment. When seeing the desk to pay for the appointment a young woman told us we didn't have a balance. We thought that was odd and figured they'd call us for the payment if need be. She then scheduled our next appointment for March 26th. On March 24th Alex left a voicemail stating we had a balance of $528. We figured that. It made sense. I let Josh know that evening (he travels for work) and he said he'd call the next day and take care of it. On March 25th ASHLEY left a voicemail stating that we had a balance and that his March 26th appointment was cancelled. Josh called back on March 25th and spoke with ASHLEY. He paid the amount due, then she stated the March 26th appointment was cancelled. She scheduled a TENTATIVE appointment for April 9th. Then explained they may be out of the office for a few weeks due to covid-19. We completely understood that. On April 9th we called prior to his appointment to make sure it was still happening. No answer. Left message. No response. We assumed they were closed. We heard nothing since. Our dog was becoming very sick again. On April 21st Josh called and was transferred to Dr Jankowski's voicemail. No return call. We waited a few days to give them time figuring they were busy catching up on things after being out. On April 24th I called and spoke with Emma who then transferred me to Nicole. After some research Nicole explained that due to multiple missed appointments and payment issues we are recommended to seek treatment elsewhere! She then explained that she would call me back either the next day or that following Monday. Of course no one ever called me back. So from April 9th-24th no one provides us with this information! That is awful! We immediately sought treatment at another facility. Our English Bulldogs lymphoma cancer relapsed far worse than it was originally. You do t stop treatment like that! Now our dogs best case scenario to live is 6 MONTHS! On April 29th I received an email that stated we should seek treatment elsewhere. We have full intentions of getting our money back. Thanks for cutting my dogs life expectancy in half! Ashley you have some serious explaining to do! Nicole I'm still waiting on my call back! You should be ashamed of yourselves!

I had a great experience with our dog here! Dr. Turner and the vet techs were very helpful and loving with our grey. He could barely walk due to a broken toe, and they were helpful. We didn't bring a bed and we weren't offered blankets and unfortunately he couldn't stand because his hind leg had a break. We went into ourcar and made do with his hammock and a coat. We arrived at 8:00am and didn't leave until 12:00pm. They had a critical case come in which delayed our care but they made giving our dog pain medication a priority so he could be more comfortable. In my experience, you never want to be the first one being helped in an ED! It means you're not too bad off! Thank you for all of your help!

    Stains on cabinets!

If I could give this place zero stars I would! We took our very sick puppy there only to wait 3 hours without seeing a veterinarian! We asked if we could sign papers to start hydrating and get blood work drawn and the tech came back and said by signing this your bill will start between $750-900. We just wanted our puppy to be cared for and treated! There was absolutely no compassion from anyone, with the exception of the tech said if you can get in to another vet, I would do it! That was after 3 hours and no vet, no hydration and no blood work done! This place is filthy and the people that work here should be ashamed of themselves! Blood spattered on walls, dirty floors, peeling/cracked walls and a molded vent! Fortunately we got our puppy and took to the best Emergency vet, VRCC!

After taking my senior cat to our…read moreregular vet, I was told he would need extensive dental extractions that could cost anywhere from $3,000-$4,000. While researching options, I somehow found myself on Helping Hands' website, and I'm so glad I did. Their pricing was straightforward and transparent, with the flat fee including blood work and everything else needed for the procedure. When I arrived, the intake process took about 30 minutes, and the staff carefully walked me through exactly what they were going to do. They told me I could pick my cat up around 5 PM, which gave me the rest of the day to explore Richmond. While waiting, I grabbed breakfast at The Fancy Biscuit, walked around Virginia Commonwealth University, did the canal walk, learned about the history of the bridge the Confederates destroyed while retreating from Union forces, and even stopped by a brewery with an amazing outdoor area. Richmond ended up being a really great day trip. When I picked my cat up, they told me he did great. He did end up needing many teeth removed, but I could immediately tell he had been well cared for. We're now two days post-op and he's already eating again. They also sent us home with all the medication he needed. This place is absolutely amazing. Affordable, compassionate, organized, and clearly staffed by people who genuinely care about animals.

This place has become incredibly disappointing. I originally found them because they were…read morerecommended as an affordable option. At one point, the basic dental service was around $260. When I called about a month ago, the price had already increased, and now it's over $500 just for the basics. While reading recent reviews, I noticed another customer shared that their dog still had rotten teeth after receiving treatment here and ended up having to go to a different veterinarian for another dental procedure, spending over $2,000 total. That's extremely concerning, especially for those of us with senior dogs. The last thing I want is to put my dogs under anesthesia more than once because a procedure wasn't done properly the first time. My experience with the front desk staff was also frustrating. I simply asked what records and requirements they needed from my veterinarian, such as wellness exams, bloodwork, or other testing. Instead of clearly answering my questions, I felt dismissed and spoken to rudely. The conversation quickly turned into being told that if I used another veterinarian, they would need to perform their own exam anyway. It felt more like they were pushing me toward either their $500 package or their $1,700 package with X-rays rather than helping me understand the requirements. I spent a long time saving up to get dental work done for my two senior dogs, and this experience has made the process much more complicated than it needed to be. At this point, I'm considering staying in New York and finding a local veterinarian instead. It's unfortunate to see a business build its reputation on being affordable and accessible, only to move away from the very reasons so many people chose them in the first place. Even more concerning are reports suggesting that some pets may require additional procedures elsewhere, forcing owners to spend more money and put their beloved pets through anesthesia again. That's something no pet owner wants to experience.

My fiancé had an easy time setting up an appointment on the phone. They even sent a text reminder about the appointment the week of. We decided to go together since this was our first cat in adulthood. The veterinary nurse was beyond kind, complimenting Prosciutto (our cat). She was super gentle and tested to see if he liked Churu (a squeezable cat treat) for the appointment. When she was done weighing him, we waited probably less than five minutes before Dr. Sara De Wet came in. Dr. Sara was incredible. Her bedside manner was beyond amazing. She took the time to educate us about our cat, any future health concerns that could arise, and to answer my plethora of questions. She put on "cat music" (we learned that vet's proved that classical music in vet settings can calm a cat) to help him with his nerves. She complimented him in the cutest ways for being brave and food motivated. He was obviously a bit on edge in an unfamiliar setting, but Dr. Sara was so gentle she made the process as easy as she could. He had a regular check-up and got two vaccines. I highly recommend taking your pets to Scott's Addition Animal Hospital.

I often use that as a gauge of what tests I want to run and I never feel like they're just trying to get money out of me. I'm writing this because of the amount of time the staff spent with my cat today. He didn't have his usual calming meds and was very vocal about how little he wanted to be there. They gave us so much grace and extra time to make sure we could do as much of the exam in office as possible. And when they needed a couple more things but my cat was too stressed there, they set me up with everything I needed to take samples at home and bring back to them for testing (also gave me the option of getting more calming meds and bringing my cat back when he was calmer). They're (seemingly!) happy to explain things thoroughly and I greatly appreciate that.
