We went there on 5/26/26 for my 43rd birthday, my husband surprised me with reservations for our family of 3 as we had been wanting to try Tramonti for a few months after hearing rave reviews from our friends and family! The restaurant is very comfortable with lots of seating options including indoor tables, a seasonal outdoor eating area and covered patio. We were quickly seated by our server in the patio section and got our drinks in record time. The menu is vast with a plethora of choices that all look positively appealing to those of us who enjoy Italian fare. They also have a very wide array of "adult beverages" in their wine list/drink menu as well as a great selection on their dessert menu. We ordered the Antipasto and we all throughly enjoyed it! Then, we were gifted with a complementary order of some delicious mussels. I ordered the Veal Marsala, my husband ordered the Veal Parmigana and our son got the Shrimp Scampi. While initially I thought those who had recommended Tramonti to us were being overly "dramatic" about the portion sizes...they surely were not! Definitely plan to come hungry and leave full with LOTS of leftovers to enjoy! Our food arrived to the table very quickly, everything was cooked perfectly and you could feel the attention to detail in every single bite of your meal. Toward the end of our meal, the chef came out to introduce himself and wished me a Happy Birthday. While I know it sounds silly...it felt like you were eating dinner at a family members or friend's home. Your glass is never allowed to go empty of your drink of choice, the servers check in on you to see if you need anything and just make sure you're enjoying your meal...it's a very comfortable place to have a nice dinner! For my parent's anniversary we all went to Tramonti after hearing many different opinions on it. The portion sizes are exactly what you expect coming here, and the food is...okay. You are paying for the experience and the sheer amount of food you get. Most leftovers (you will 100% have leftovers) don't reheat well the next day so it felt like a waste of money since you are only able to eat a portion of your meal. I would also urge you to stay away from the calamari, it was so overcooked it was like chewing on a rubber band. I will say the service was incredible though, our waitress was so sweet and helpful and patient with our table of 5 and it was nice that our food was piping hot when we got it. I'd say definitely go for the experience but just be mindful of what you will want to eat for the next 2 days... read more

Tramonti is not for the weak-appetite, come hungry! The portion sizes are unreal - all of our meals were served in full size skillets and we had leftovers for 3 more meals afterwards! Not to mention the complimentary bread, bruschetta and mussels. It's not the most authentic Italian food I've ever had, and sometimes less is more, but everything was enjoyable. Somehow we left room for dessert and it was worth it - both the limoncello and affogato were out of this world, along with the complimentary delicious limoncello shots! Service was excellent and attentive, everyone was constantly buzzing around checking if we needed refills or if they could clear our plates. I did not expect that they will also give me a whole loaf of bread and a tray of mussels on a delicious tomato based sauce! Yums! It was very convenient. Easy service. I called and set up a time. I really enjoy Tramonti. It has a joy filled atmosphere that really makes you feel a part of something. This was my second time dining here and I sat at the bar as a small treat to myself after my birthday. I am not a drinker so I didn't have any limoncello shots. The bartender was attentive and asked before serving them since I ordered a virgin drink. The mango drink was phenomenal. I refrained from ordering more. It had a punch of ginger and the mango flavor was so juicy- it made me long for a trip to a beach. Their bread is so flavorful. It has that crunch on the outside but it is soft on the inside. The texture is what I imagine takes skill to achieve. Not too heavy but very rich. The olive oil brings out the flavor. You don't even need butter. I ordered the bone marrow as a starter. The honey gave a sweet flavor that was rich and luxurious. I felt like a movie star eating this. I don't know why I ordered such a big appetizer knowing I was siting alone. Would I order again? Yes, yes indeed. I was also offered mussels and anipasta just for being a guest. The bruschetta was superb! Very fresh tasting toppings. I loved the olives and salami. I love the mix of salty, brined, refreshing from all the different elements. I loved the mussels. And I am not someone that typically eats mussels. I prefer clams or oysters. But the red sauce on the mussels is PHENOMENAL. I found myself dipping the bread in it. My meal was the chicken Marsala. By the time it came - which didn't take long. I was already full. I ate about three bites of this dish before asking to wrap everything. The Marsala was a bit bland to my taste. The pasta was perfectly cooked and the presentation was awesome. I was so happy to have leftovers for the snow storm that was scheduled to come the next day. I plan to return and I'll probably sit at the bar again and order less food. This is a special restaurant but stay away from the specials. I have a mentor that tells me he never orders from the special menu. His logic is that if it was that special it would be on the regular menu. But in Tramontis case it likely will end up in you having a bad experience and a bad taste in your mouth. I did my research and it seems many of the bad reviews stem from the diner not asking about the Market Price on the specials menu and absolutely being stunned about the price. I would have to agree. Over $100 for a halibut dish. $300 for a mixed grill dish. For a restaurant that is so intent on having a good time and an awesome experience it seems really opposite of their philosophy. So do yourself a favor. Dont order from the specials. Now that we got that out of the way. I had a really good time at Tramonti. We came here Sunday at noon and was the 3rd group seated. Its a deceptively large restaurant. We ordered a bottle of wine, an appetizer, 3 main dishes and a dessert. I think by now everyone knows about the free antipasto and the mussels. They are very good and a very good portion. The fried calamari was disappointing. I order fried calamari wherever they offer it. It gives me a good gauge of the restaurant. Unfortunately the calamari was not good. It wasnt that crispy and the quality of the calamari was subpar. Id probably not order it next time. Our main dishes were very good. My shrimp scampi was great. The lemony zest was great and the sauce was perfectly executed. Penne alla vodka with meatballs were excellent. Penne was perfect al dente. Italian combo was good but maybe a bit too heavy as its overloaded with cheese. They were constantly coming over with more shots of limoncello. For dessert we ordered the Tiramisu but it needed another 30 minutes to get ready so we opted to get the Almond cake. It was really good! And because they didnt have Tiramisu available they comped the almond cake. Great customer service. Our server Matteo was exceptional. Make sure you have a designated driver. I'm a huge fan of Tramonti! The hype is real here- gigantic portions, incredible service and hospitality, and incredible meals! Be prepared to be here for a while this place is all about having an incredible experience from the moment you step into this restaurant to the moment you leave it! With that said, the service is Incredible- acknowledging wait times due to the made to order and incredibly fresh food - your waiter will offer you complimentary bruschetta, mussels and limoncello between courses. What a fun touch! We love these apps and limoncello! What stands out is our chef that probably made contact with us at least 3 times. I kept telling my husband that this chef is so friendly and chatted with literally every person who came in tonight- not just parties but literally individual people. I've never seen anything like this before it was really cool. The meals take a while but if you check out their instagram you can see that each meal is cooked to order and is super fresh! You will literally get an entire skillet served to you that how gigantic your meal will be! Everything we ordered was fantastic. We got the Zuppa dj pesce, pasta carbonara, veal Cacciatore, and chicken Francese. My carbonara lasted me 3 extra lunches and was even more incredible the next day! This dish was not too heavy and had a perfect flavor with pancetta! Oh and did I mention it's gigantic?! My favorite meal though had to be my mother in laws chicken Francese it was so incredible. The sauce was so light, lemony, and flavorful and the chicken was so tender! That in combo with the pasta in the sauce was chefs kiss! Desserts looked incredible but we were all stuffed from dinner. The restaurant currently comes across as gimmicky and disorganized. The ticket times are too long. The kitchen is using free shots of limoncello to compensate. Not all diners want these. Food does not need to be served in an 18" steel pan. Complimentary appetizers are unnecessary. There are too many tables in too small a space. One has to yell to be heard by someone across the table. The food itself was okay at best. Spicy long-hots do not belong with grilled salmon and mashed potatoes; they belong with fennel sausage. The salmon itself was overcooked. My dad had the pappardelle with salmon "chunks" in cream sauce. There were no chunks. Our server was excellent, and her demeanor did a lot to offset the rest of the experience. read more

One of the most unique authentic Italian places I have found in the US let alone Thomaston Connecticut! It is the perfect spot for a party where people love to eat. The portions are out of this world! I think 2lbs of pasta per dish!! The quality was excellent though! I got the pasta vodka with rigatoni which was fantastic and reheats well since you get so much! The chicken cutlets were great and each dish comes with 5 chicken cutlets!!! The wait staff was amazing, and the manager came and checked in on us! The whole experience was about 2.5 hours. The chef brought us out free muscles and free bruschetta for the table as well as free bread and oil and balsamic. We were full before the huge pasta arrived! The cocktails were also amazing, I got the garden which had gin and lychee which was very well balanced and not too sweet. Was there last night on a busy Friday night with reservations for a party of 8. Started with drinks at the bar which were delicious. Then the owner served us homemade limoncello (for free) which was delicious. We were sat exactly at our reservation time. We ordered appetizers which we didn't need. More complimentary limoncello was brought out and the bottle left at the table as well as a complimentary muscles appetizer and bruschetta charcuterie tray for each end of the table. The dinners are served in giant pans and more food than you can imagine (think dinner for a week). Everything was homemade and absolutely delicious. Had a reservation for 2 at 6:00 booked months in advance. We got there at 5:55. We were told to wait at the bar, our table was not ready yet. No problem, we ordered a drink at a high top in bar while we waited. At 6:20 a man came to tell us that our table will not be available. The people are not leaving. Ok, we ordered our food which took 1 hour and 5 minutes to come. A man did come over to tell us to be patient, all the food is freshly made from scratch!! Okay. During that time before the food came. Gnats were around our area. We were right near door. Then a bunch of staff came out with mops because the toilet was clogged and the water made its way to center of bar. Not very far from where we were sitting. Now to the food. Soft mushy bruschetta was the free appetizers people talked about. When our meals came, my chicken cutlet was cold. Cooked but cold. Definitely microwaved and not made fresh as we were told. My husband got the bolognese dish. The worst we ever tasted. Will never go back!! There really is no explanation as to how so many things went wrong! Any one of those things happening to us would be understood and acceptable! I have heard so much about this place. Mostly the size servings they give. They didn't disappoint in that. They were huge, the picture doesn't do the bowl size justice. We got complimentary appetizer and the owner (I think) even was walking around saying hello to tables. It was good! Such a crisp fresh salad. Vodka pasta was also very good perfect mixture of sauce and flavor. Some places overdue on plum sauce or chunks but this one was nice and smooth. Crunchy breaded chicken. I can't say more good things about this place. It's been our go-to special occasion spot now for over a year. We come in and feel at home. Yes we have to make a reservation but for the service we will make sure one is on the books. From the minute we sit down, we are greeted with a friendly face. We always ask for Aurora. I saw people coming out while we were waiting With aluminum trays of food, o thought they got takeout, but later learned it was their leftovers! The owner is adorable and comes over to each table personally. I am extremely picky about my Italian food but everything was SO GOOD. They give you charcuterie, a few oysters and mussels to start on the house. And shots of delicious limoncello as digestives while you wait for your food. Everything is made to order, so it isn't fast food, but well worth the wait. The specials are pricey and we didn't realize we spent $30 on a honey comb and watermelon feta salad or $130 on our boar ragu (but it also had filet mignon), but that was on us. Delicious regardless. They also have very reasonable "regular" dishes. Each plate served us about 5 meals, things are very much family sized portions. I got the veal Tramonti dish and it was perfect. It is a bit loud in there because of people enjoying themselves and tables are somewhat close, but not abnormal for restaurants really. Amazing food, service and great Little Italy vibes! Beautifully set table, great wine and specialty drink selection. We had the Calamari with Gorgonzola sauce. They also brought an antipasti tray to the table and some oysters. I had the Veal Tramonti and I've never had anything like it. Creamy burrata, tender veal, perfectly roasted red peppers, asparagus and al dente pasta. My husband had Veal Marsala, and said it was excellent. Moving to Connecticut from Chicago, we were a little nervous about finding our new favorite Italian restaurant, but Tramonti Ristorante in Thomaston absolutely knocked it out of the park. Our first visit was for my husband's 77th birthday, and they made it a night we will never forget. We were given the best table in the house--outdoors, with our own built-in firepit--which was such a beautiful and thoughtful touch. The service was spectacular from start to finish. Our server, Arbor, was completely on top of everything, making sure our evening was seamless. The owner, who is also the chef and a wonderful entertainer, was a true delight. He even came to our table and performed for us, adding a truly personal and memorable element to the celebration. The food was beyond outstanding. We started with the bruschetta, which was genuinely the best we have ever had. For our main courses, we had the pasta with vodka sauce and chicken, salmon, pasta bolognese, chicken francaise, and chicken cacciatore. The portions were unbelievably generous, and every dish was fresh, hot, and simply amazing. We finished with a variety of perfect desserts: almond cake, lemoncello cake, chocolate gelato, and Irish coffees. The hospitality of feeling like at home, with the laughs, the forever flowing food, family and friends, I honestly had the best night and couldn't have had a better experience! I even got the best seat in the house, a table right in front of the open kitchen. My jaw dropped every single time a plate was served. The incredible work they put into every dish is not only tasteful, it's beautiful! From the big frying pans, platters and colorful dishes to the mountains of pasta and rivers of sauce, I felt like it was a never ending night of Italy right here in Thomaston, Connecticut. You can hear chef Tony in the back talking Italian while he was cooking, and boy did he cook! We were greeted with a complimentary bread and antipasto with tomato bruschetta and salami and ham topped with a balsamic glaze. Omg! Then we ordered the original fried calamari. We were already full. We had mussels in a red broth sauce that I wanted to drink from the bowl. We were also served oysters with cocktail sauce and lemon. Yum. I got a side ceaser salad and chicken parm with penne pasta that could feed an entire village. My friend got the chicken Marsala and it was even bigger than mine! Our neighbors got the lobster special and I don't think I've ever seen a lobster that big. The portion sizes were incredible. We had limoncello shots galore and even had the almond cake and banana chip bread pudding for dessert. I literally was in a food coma heaven. I can't believe at what an amazing meal and night it was! Where do I even begin? Let's start with Marybeth, the manager, whose attitude made it abundantly clear that customers are an inconvenience, not a priority. Rude, dismissive, and unapologetic -- truly impressive levels of hostility for someone in hospitality. Now, the $125 sea bass. And when I say sea bass, I mean a portion so small its like giving a tic-tac to a whale. At that price point, I assumed maybe the rest of the fish was coming out later? Nope. That was it. Apparently, you're paying for the idea of sea bass, not the actual food. For $125, I expected excellence, elegance, or at the very least basic respect. Instead, I got attitude, disappointment, and a plate that screamed "we dare you to complain." Save your money, save your appetite, and save your sanity. Plenty of restaurants manage to serve food and treat people decently. This one clearly does neither. read more

Ask how much the specials are before ordering. I was going to order the Halibut special. $110.00. They give you complimentary Bruschetta, mussels and antipasto. The portions of food come in a huge skillet. I am not a fan of the amount of food that they give you. The wait staff service was fantastic. read more

We were looking forward to date night all week, and the blizzard closed down the restaurant we were supposed to go to. I'd been wanting to try Tramonti for a while, and was excited when my boyfriend recommended we divert our plans there. It was by far worth driving in the snow for. The service was attentive, friendly, and the owner greeted every table while we were there - you can tell the pride he takes in his restaurant. I cannot remember the last time I saw a reasonable red wine list full of Italian wines - I actually had a hard time choosing. Our food was incredible - wild boar special was delicious as was the tramonti chicken dinner. Large portions which we were happy to take home for the snow storm. It was a wonderful date night and we will definitely be back. read more

Such an amazing spot. My family has been raving about Tramonti and I finally tried it for myself last month. Service, food, portions were all amazing. They start you off with some HUGE free apps- mussels and bruschetta, which were delicious. We had some family style apps too- calamari and Burrata. So delicious and portions were so large we could have stopped there. For the main course I got the salmon (I know not the most Italian thing) but WOW- perfectly cooked and the potatoes it came with were delicious (and I'm not a huge mashed potato fan). I also got to try some of the penne vodka which was some of the best I've had. The chef came out to say hello after the meal which was a nice touch. Highly recommend coming here, and coming hungry when you do! read more
