Went there a few days ago and as you can tell from the reviews, this place is hit or miss. In our case, and for the 2nd time, it was a miss...especially when you look at their prices. The food takes FOR EVER to come out and refills on soda took around 10mins each time despite the restaurant being at roughly 40% capacity...To put it in perspective we got there at 745, ordered apps and entrees immediately and finally got our dinner at 915. We just asked for to-go boxes as soon as the plates hit the table. Surprisingly they were very efficient when it came to bringing us the bill Food is not bad, but certainly not worth what they charge. Nothing came out hot, just kinda warm...There are literally 2 other Italian restaurants on the same street within a half mile with better food and faster service. read more

This place is a family owned business which is something I love. I didn't eat anything but bread and dessert and omg was the dessert amazing. I will go back for that alone. The staff was so nice we wended up taking to them for a while. It was very welcoming and decorated sooooo cute! read more

The byword here is stingy--one tiny morsel of cauliflower in the cauliflower soup; one thin half sliver of carrot in the squash and carrot "chef's choice" vegetable side; one maraschino cherry divided into eighths on the tartuffo dessert (that the waiter said also contained pistachio--nope). The salmon and the mashed potatoes were good but my husband's linguine with clam sauce was totally tasteless. At least his cake was decent. The decor and music were very nice. Courtesy and friendly waitstaff of Martha, Jose, and Anthony and other staff, have always been attentive on various visits to Fratelli's. Chef Ivan does visit his patron's tables checking in to inquire about the dinner plates of tasty Italian food. I want this family restaurant to succeed. It's great little place to go to! Great food!!! 4 1/2 stars! But... The front of house needs to get it together. 1 star! No greetings, long wait (even with a reservation) and unbused tables. If they can just get the front of house on the same page, I believe Fratellis would be an amazing place to dine at. read more

Food and service were awesome! Included appetizers amazing. Leftovers for days! All at a reasonable price. Can't wait to go back.

I'd be willing to give 3.5 stars but not 4. We went last night (it was a Thursday). I am dying for an amazing Italian restaurant to find its way to Southington. Tuscany is great but too small. We need more. I was super excited about the Flair owners coming in to continue the Italian traditions at Fratelli's. Aside from taking over ownership - not much seems to have changed. They could do with updating the space for sure. The food was pretty good but portion sizes are gigantic. They should consider cutting the portions by at least 1/3 (or half) and bringing down the prices a tad. It's a bit pricey for pretty much traditional Italian fare (and there's really nothing that special to be charging $27 for chicken parm). I got the risotto special. They had no asparagus which is a little odd. I started with the pasta e fagioli - it was thicker than I've seen before. Not so much a tomato based broth - more of a tomato based stew but the taste was delicious! They had interesting (in a good way) salad dressing options. A couple people had the bolognese and enjoyed it and the last person got the risotto with sea scallops. The scallops were cooked beautifully. Our waitress was forgetful and the service was incredibly slow. It took a long time for drinks (they came back twice to ask what 2 people ordered), soup/salads and dinner to arrive at our table and there was a very long wait between courses. Be careful coming with young kiddos - it's definitely not an 'in and out' place. Hope they keep working to improve! read more

We went to dinner tonight and it was one of worse meals I have ever eaten! First it took 20 to get 1 soup and 1 salad and another 40 to get our food. I got chicken Marsala that had no taste what so ever And the heaping pile of cold mash potatoes! My husband got fish the was fried and it never mentioned it would be on the menu. I have given this place 3 try's and now I will never give them another penny! Go to McDonald's across the street the food is better! read more

Phenomenal! I honestly think it's better than the old Fratellis. We had Chicken parmigiana which was a big portion with pasta and eggplant parmigiana which my wife ( who is Italian) absolutely loved it. A+++++ Server was perfect... I think her name was Danielle. I was there many times under the original owners. It was so good. So I decided to take my friend there for her birthday to check it out with new owners. We sat down and ordered our appetizer, calamari and waited and waited. Finally, I believe the cook came over and said there was no calamari, but he was going to order it from another restaurant he owned, because his father didn't take it off his truck. I figured it would not be long. About 45 minutes later (by this time I wanted to walk out, but it I didn't want to ruin my friend's birthday). Bread basket? Two tiny rolls. Another half hour came the dinners we ordered. They were ok. I ordered a mocktail there was so much ice in it, two sips and it was over I asked for another one with less ice. By the way the place was empty except for another couple and some people at the bar. The waiter Joey was great, none of this had to do with him. My wife picked this place out a few weeks ago as we were driving through the area on a Saturday night. Glad we'd thought ahead to make a reservation because it was busy and the parking lot was tight. The pricing seemed a little high at first, but the menu didn't mention that meals come with a soup or salad. My wife got the carbonara but also a side of vodka sauce which made a nice combo. This truly hidden gem offers some of the best traditional Italian in CT. I have been enjoying their food and atmosphere for over 15 years. Any dish that features their chicken cutlet is highly recommended, no matter the presentation. The chicken is thin, crispy and delicious. It is fried to perfection and is not one bit oily or greasy. The veal is equally flavorful and delicious. If you are particular about tomato sauce then it is important to point out, and this is strictly a matter of taste but the tomato sauce can be over seasoned with oregano, which gives it an earthy kick. Even with that being said this place offers superb classic Italian dishes at great value in a relaxed atmosphere. I have always experienced warm and friendly service when dining here. If you are looking for a wholesome classic Italian meal at a reasonable price then Fratelli's Italian Restaurant is your place! read more

3/5/20 It seems odd that I haven't reviewed Fratelli's Restaurant after having dined here so many times, so here goes. I've never had less than a stellar meal at Fratelli's in the many times I've dined here. Their lasagna is made with pork instead of beef, and that gives it a very unique and outstanding flavor. The sauce features very fresh ingredients, and great seasonings. We started with a basket of nice, warm, chewy full grain bread. Tonight I had penne pasta in marinara sauce with Italian sausage that was extremely good. I opted for a garden salad instead of my usual choice of pasta fagiol. It featured in house made blue cheese dressing that set it apart from the usual offered in most restaurants. Service, as always was very good. read more

The relatively new owners of this restaurant, who also have a nice restaurant in Southington, seem to be struggling with service problems. The food is very good and the atmosphere is very nice. BUT....unless you are dining there on a weekday, and at a time the restaurant is normally not busy, service is poor..... pleasant, but very, very slow....disappointing! read more

This restaurant is on the smaller side but very cozy and intimate. But definitely better for smaller groups. There is also a small bar. The waitress was very friendly and helpful. My friends all ordered pasta dishes and were very happy with them. The food was very fresh and came out very hot. The pasta faglioli is homemade and amazing. I on the other hand ordered a steak and I was a little disappointed in the cut. It was a little tough and a tad overcooked. Wouldn't waste my time going here. How they receive more than 1 star is beyond me. If you haven't eaten at another restaurant the food and service is subpar. We called and asked how long of a wait there was. We were told 25 minutes. When we got there10 minutes later the parking lot wasn't even half full, there were only 4 tables seated. The menu had nothing special and the prices were what you would find at a better restaurant. It took over 20 minutes after ordering to get salads and the waiter went by our empty water glasses 4 times. The salads were nothing special. The meals took an extremely long time to be prepared. The restaurant wasn't busy. My dish was one of their best sellers. Pretty sad if that's true. The chicken was fried and had a butter sauce with a touch of lemon. Had no flavor or seasoning. Ever hear of garlic and salt and pepper??? Wife had the chicken Milanese. Was arugula on the same fried greasy chicken I had. No tomatoes or red onion? One daughter had the chicken piccata. Blah. Other daughter had cheese tortellini. Was probably the best dish on the table and we gave it a 6. I could have put together better meals with the same ingredients. The seating was upgraded from the previous owners but felt like I was in a Italian restaurant from the 80s with the tacky grapevines, lighting and decorations. read more

I used to have a number of reasons to be in Southington at dinnertime, but I don't anymore--but when I can arrange it, Fratelli's is my go-to. This time I was driving home on I-84 and realized I could stop off and pick up takeout. It was great! Veal parm comes with pasta and salad--got an order of garlic bread with cheese as well. Secret is out and everyone and their brother knows about this place, so get there at 4:30 for dinner or make reservations otherwise you aren't eating! We had a wonderful server named Chelsea, she was just awesome! Which is good because her service was as good as the food! We had Linguini with white clam sauce, Penne ala Vodka, Shrimp cocktail All absolutely wonderful!! And the bread for the table! Its brought in from Brooklyn and it is yummy!! Remember RESERVATIONS! The inside kind of looks like a slightly but not really remodeled pizza diner from the nineties. But the bar area is nice. Met a friend here for a drink that turned into dinner. The meatballs are pretty good here, and we enjoyed our drinks without feeling pressured to vacate. The staff is what turns a four star experience into a five star experience. The bartender was knowledgeable and friendly, and the owner was really a nice guy. This isn't the place for a fancy Italian dinner, but it's the place to go for good comfort food at fair prices with great service. The food was delicious! Service was quite slow. We waited quite some time for our first course and in between courses. However the excellent food was worth the wait, and there was plenty of it. A friend of mine recommended this place and it is quite lovely. I would classify the fare here as being slightly upscale comfort food. Old school Italian flavor. It's not a very large facility, but it is comfortable. I hadn't researched this restaraunt prior to arrival; if I had, I would've made a reservation. However, they were very gracious and seated us anyway. Our servers name was Fallon. She was upbeat and pleasant! She gave us just the right amount of attention, not at all pestering. This would be my final request. We were seated at a table for two as soon as you enter the dining room on the right. It's quiet, romantic, and away from everyone else dining there. Perfect for two. If I were told that I had a terminal illness and only a short time to live, the mushroom and escargot appetizer at Fratelli's would be my last meal request. It's that good !!! They make it in a white sauce or a red sauce. The white sauce is more of a broth which is good. I prefer the red, which is even better. Fresh mushrooms and escargot simmered in a spicy flavorful marinara and finished with fresh parsley. The aroma alone is outstanding. My dinner was the salmon with a lemon butter artichoke sauce and served with mashed potatoes and zucchini, carrots and broccoli. The salmon was a huge thick portion and beautifully prepared. The dish was very good. My wife had angel hair alla vodka with chicken. Also an excellent dish. We enjoyed our meals with a nice bottle of Salmon Creek cabernet. We ended our night with a cappuccino for my wife and an espresso with sambuca for myself. We also shared a couple of delicious homemade pistachio and cranberry biscotti cookies.
