Calamari

My best friend was visiting so we decided to find somewhere local to go for dinner. This restaurant was nearby and we had never been so we decided to try it out. It turned out to be a good evening. The fried calamari was yummy and I enjoyed my salmon. We had a positive experience.

This truly hidden gem offers some of the best traditional Italian in CT. I have been enjoying their food and atmosphere for over 15 years. Any dish that features their chicken cutlet is highly recommended, no matter the presentation. The chicken is thin, crispy and delicious. It is fried to perfection and is not one bit oily or greasy. The veal is equally flavorful and delicious. If you are particular about tomato sauce then it is important to point out, and this is strictly a matter of taste but the tomato sauce can be over seasoned with oregano, which gives it an earthy kick. Even with that being said this place offers superb classic Italian dishes at great value in a relaxed atmosphere. I have always experienced warm and friendly service when dining here. If you are looking for a wholesome classic Italian meal at a reasonable price then Fratelli's Italian Restaurant is your place!

3/5/20 It seems odd that I haven't reviewed Fratelli's Restaurant after having dined here so many times, so here goes. I've never had less than a stellar meal at Fratelli's in the many times I've dined here. Their lasagna is made with pork instead of beef, and that gives it a very unique and outstanding flavor. The sauce features very fresh ingredients, and great seasonings. We started with a basket of nice, warm, chewy full grain bread. Tonight I had penne pasta in marinara sauce with Italian sausage that was extremely good. I opted for a garden salad instead of my usual choice of pasta fagiol. It featured in house made blue cheese dressing that set it apart from the usual offered in most restaurants. Service, as always was very good.

Food is great. Service is slow and unreliable. Ambiance is an upgrade from the former owners who let the place become dated.

A beautiful night under the stars ! The welcome host was sweet and even was able to let me sit inside ( after I had originally reserved outdoor seating ) even Our waitress was super sweet she came quickly got our drink and food orders , told us the specials and made sure we had everything we needed . To start we ordered the genie wish and the royal rose served over dry ice ! Presentation on point .. however the drink itself was okay . The house bread was really good super soft and fresh. While we aired for our entrees we explore all the restaurant looking at all the decor ( 10/10 ) and went to the rooftop where it was mamma Mia themed and one of the waitress was so nice and took a picture of us with the decor ! For my entree I got the chicken parm , the portions were large , and the food was good in my opinion ( not the best I've had but definitely not the worst ) What I loved the most was for desert the server came over with a whole tray of deserts and we can choose which to order ! Which was great ! We chose the amaretto cheesecake and it was amazing!! And normally I don't like cheesecake but this was sooo delicious!!! Highly recommend And to finish it off they offered a small Dubai chocolate shot to end the night ! Which was the perfect way to end the night ! Overall 5/5 this is the place to go if your looking for beautiful ambiance , a fun night out , service was fantastic and food was good ( a little pricey but worth it for everything you are getting in my opinion ) 100% I will be back for the fall decor !!! Can't wait

Apps came out before drinks and the food was super quick overall, service felt a bit slower but everyone was still very helpful, and friendly. The cacio e pepe was a little too peppery for me but maybe that's the point, the chicken cutlet was perfect...crispy and juicy and the meatballs had a great little kick. Ended with the cheesecake that was rich and creamy, wish there was a bit more crust. Overall, great vibes and I'd definitely be back to try something different

The price for takeout for these (3) things were on the high side to not include a side salad. With that said, we were aware that those weren't included as it wasnt listed on their online ordering. We just figured the portion for both Entrees were likely larger and thats why you paid a la carte for the salad. We come back home with the takeout and to our surprise for quite a high price, the portions were small. How small, each meal fit with pasta inside a plastic container, similar to those used for Asian takeout. For any other restaurant that serves Chicken Parmigana, its always been a larger round metal dish with pasta on the side. Typically with 2 pieces of chicken. Putting portion aside as one can argue that we may have been able to find that out before ordering, the (2) entrees were not great. The Chicken Parmigana had one piece of chicken and the chicken was charred, dry, minimal amount of cheese and the both the chicken and pasta itself had a scarce amount of pasta sauce. I found myself having to scrub the side of the dish for any sauce left. The lemon bay chicken was also quite dry and unfortunately the mixture of recip (chicken, pasta and sauce) was quite tasteless. I'm not typically one to leave a 1 or 2 star reviews often, as I'd rather just not go again to the place where I had said experience but between the quality of food, price and portion, this place falls into a bit of an exception for me. Look, I've eaten at many places, if your portions are going to small for the price (and without sides), then the quality needs to EXCEED the excepted regional standard for that dish to justify that reasoning. This experience did not do that, instead we are left with half of take home container of each meal that we will have to toss in trash for Fathers Day.

I've known about this place for a while, and a friend reminded me that they recently changed locations. We were seated in the bar area at a high table and were given two menus: a happy hour menu that lasted until 6 PM and their regular menu. We figured we'd order a few things off of their happy hour menu while it was still going on, then move on to the regular menu after 6 PM, since we knew we'd be there for at least a couple of hours. We ordered a shrimp appetizer, gnocchi, fries, wine, and a white Cosmo to start. My absolute favorite was the grilled shrimp appetizer, even though the other two were very good as well. My friend's favorite was the gnocchi. From the regular menu, I ordered the ham and cheese croquettes and she ordered the regular cheese croquettes since she is vegetarian. We loved those as well. These four tapas were enough to serve as our dinner and we didn't have to order anything else. The service was fantastic and I thought that everything was priced very well. I liked that there was a parking lot right next-door. A friend met us. Later on for a final drink and mentioned that he liked this new location better than the old location. I would definitely return and try different tapas. Their entrées also looked very good. I really like this location because you can walk around and do other things after dinner in the area.

The Brussels sprout salad was top-notch--packed with flavor and one of my favorite dishes of the night. The pasta was also excellent, with a perfectly balanced creamy sauce that wasn't too heavy. I especially liked how they presented all the dessert options, making it fun to choose. We ended up ordering the pistachio cake, but unfortunately, it wasn't my favorite. It tasted much saltier than expected rather than sweet. I'm not sure if it was due to the cream cheese or the pistachios themselves, but the flavor felt a bit off for a dessert. Overall, it was a great dining experience.
