Pizza had almost no sauce and was burnt. The "pepperoni" was giant slabs of seitan. Got an Alfredo pasta that was $19 served in a tiny desert dish. Mod pizza makes a better vegan pizza at half the cost. Their ranch is good though. Never again. They also charged me $2 for 2oz side of marinara

Came in on a Tuesday around 3pm and the place was quiet. I was excited to try Virtouos pies out and sat down to look things over before I decided since I was the only guest in there.. The pizza was just okay so I ordered a side of marinara sauce and hot honey to dip the slices in.. both were $2 each and a small ramekin size. And served cold.. cold sauces for my hot pizza? hmm.. okay.. I ordered the spinach and artichoke dip to dip my slices instead.. pretty good. I liked this the most. I wasn't super stoked on my lunch so I decided to try a couple desserts to make the lunch better.. they were just okay too.. the seasonal canoli was supposed to be apple pie but instead came with apple pie cream and no actual baked fruit.. The guy at the counter was slow with ordering and making my drink.. meh..

When my friend and I had our flight delayed from Sac and we finally landed in PDX we already knew we were going straight to Virtuous Pie for some vegan pizza. This is what happens when two vegans from Sacramento land in Portland's wonderland of vegan foodie options. We indulge! We made it there shortly before closing and ordered two pies (Super Funghi and Stranger Wings), garlic knots, and scoops of Salted Caramel & Chocolate Pretzel ice cream. I've been to Virtuous Pie in Vancouver's Chinatown, but this was a first time for me at the Portland location. The pizza was good (especially the spicy Stranger Wings, which I prefered) but felt that everything was a tad overcooked. The garlic knots were even slightly burnt. Maybe we caught them on an off night because they were close to closing, but knowing their pizza from Vancouver I can say I've had better from them. Personally I'd also prefer Sizzle Pie if I had to choose between the two vegan pizza places, but I'm definitely not opposed to coming back here for more. I'd also recommend trying out the ice cream, because the flavors are creative and ever-changing. #2VS

AJ was amazing!! She took such good care of us and made the best recommendations. She made us feel welcome and at home. I am so glad we came here. Also - The pesto was SO GOOD.

Had heard great things about this place and am looking forward to going back. We only stopped by for ice cream and homemade waffle cones this go round, but will definitely be back to try pizza, mac n cheese and other delicious goodies. We were kindly greeted upon walking in! We gave the Marionberry and Stawberry & Cream a shot. They were good flavors. Felt a bit overpriced for ice cream but it was still worth it. Looking forward to checking out additional menu items upon our return!

Portland Pizza Week is here! I tried two places today and it a fun discovering new pizza flavors. Don't miss out - the week is almost over! Here are some tips to make the most of it: 1 Explore nearby pizza spots and try different flavors. 2 Check out their special Pizza Week pies. 3 Note their open times as some places may have limited hours. 4 Vegetarians, fear not - there are plenty of veggie options available! 1. @virtuous_pie-Pepper Ann They had a really light and healthy taste, and the place itself was really cool, with an amazing dessert menu. It's a great spot for date night or hanging out with friends.

    Blue Lavender Ice Cream

I had a hankering for ice cream so I can only comment on that. Everyone was super friendly, and the space had a chill, clean vibe. The blue lavender ice cream was delicious and super creamy. Decadently refreshing if that's something that's possible. I'm sure I'll have pizza here at some point but for now the ice cream is good enough!

    Pepper Ann Slice
    Shane W.

We decided to try the pepper ann slice here for pizza week, and we didn't enjoy it very much. While there can be some leeway for vegan food lacking in flavor, this was far from acceptable. Every single component was below average in flavor. It was genuinely one of the worst slices we've ever eaten, worse than frozen pizza.

From what I could tell sitting at the bar and observing the ID in question, it looked fliiiimssy even from where I was sitting. I kinda get both sides ya know , sure one person in the group wants a drink w dinner but dude just tough it out and have your dinner. Instead they popped off and all started fussing and being entitled and it was just gross. I was enjoying a fantastic dinner but that table was like trying to take the stage. I think they ended up storming out and one girl like stomped off and said she was keeping her cup !! lol I worked in food a long time ago. She had recommended it, was excited to share it with us. There was no single incident that explains what happened. Instead, it was a series of interactions that became increasingly dismissive, hostile, and ultimately humiliating. The first moment that gave us pause came when my friend's ID was returned so carelessly that it landed on the floor. The server then walked away without explanation, only to return and inform us she would not be serving us drinks. Being denied a drink was never the issue, though the manner in which it was handled felt abrupt and unwarranted. When we attempted to understand the concern, there was no effort to communicate, clarify, or review the additional identification we had available, including a passport. Instead, the interaction became increasingly adversarial. We were told we could cause the restaurant to lose its liquor license and were ultimately instructed to leave. At that point, it no longer felt like a conversation about identification. It felt like a complete breakdown in professionalism and basic respect. Before leaving, my friend calmly asked to speak with someone in charge. She was visibly upset, holding back tears, but remained composed throughout the interaction. Rather than attempting to understand or de-escalate the situation, another staff member escalated it further, becoming confrontational and referring to her as a "bish." I have worked in food service and understand that mistakes happen. Portland has no shortage of exceptional restaurants. I would spend my time and money elsewhere. 0/5

And they were pretty good, but clearly lacking the flavor fully marinated meat flavors that tacos are famous for. BUT -! Tonight my dreams came true when I ordered -- and promptly devoured -- the vegan carne asada taco. Never have my taste buds danced with such ecstatic bliss as when savoring this bliss of spicy sabrosa-ness! Next I sampled the 3 Hermanos Empanada-- the interior was and cashew crema was delicious...and here is my only critique: the masa-based "pastry" (that enfolds the interior) was too heavy and dense. Now, truth be told my standards are epically high for empanadas, as I come from THE OTHER PORTLAND (Maine) and, as odd as this sounds for such a white-bread state, the best empanadas I've ever eaten (and there is a long list of empanada places I have eaten in NYC and SF) is in Portland Maine (it's called Quiero, and for good reason). So if I could conjure the greatest empanada ever made, it would involve the pastry shell from Quiero in Portland Maine with the interior 3 Hermanos filling from Mis Tacones in PDX. Mic drop, I'm out! Ps. Incredibly colorful, arty and fun interior. Pps. Cute queer staff who steered me right and are definitely flirt-worthy.

You order at the counter, and they bring out your food. (Despite counter ordering, 18% tip is still the minimum stanard option they prompt you for.) We all ordered the Soyrizo & Huevo Desayuno ($18), a brunch plate with soyrizo tofu and potato scramble, refried beans, Mexican rice, a grilled jalapeno, some grilled onion, and a couple of corn tortillas. Very tasty scramble, though the refried beans were a bit oversalted. Huge portion -- very carb-heavy, would've preferred some veggies in here, but that's Mexican cuisine for you. Doesn't really hold a candle to authentic Mexican cuisine you get down in Mexico, but pretty solid for Portland / northern US. The coffees we ordered weren't great quality -- pretty weak and watery. All in all, reasonable value, huge portions, tasty mains. Worth checking out.
