FRAUDULENT BUSINESS. I made an appointment over the phone, and the receptionist asked for a credit card number to hold my reservation. She never mentioned a cancellation policy. Later, a conflict arose, and I called to cancel the appointment. Jessie, the woman who answered the phone, told me that they would be charging my credit card because my appointment was the next day. I expressed my surprise, and she said their cancellation policy is on their website. I am a lawyer, and it is absolutely ILLEGAL to charge for fees without putting the customer on notice of these fees. If the credit card number is asked for over the phone, the cancellation policy must be communicated at that time over the phone. I asked to speak to a manager, and she told me there were no managers there, but a manager named Rue would call me over the "next few days." I then asked for confirmation that I would not be charged until I had a chance to speak with the manager. She said that I "may or may not be charged," and I would have to speak with the manager to find out. I have still not been able to get in touch with the manager. Either this business intends to cheat customers, or they do not properly train their staff. Either way, I will not be coming back here. read more

I had an extra couple of hours before heading to the airport post-conference. Walking around Newbury, I came across this place and having wanted a haircut for a while now, decided it would be a worthwhile experiment on the east coast. The front desk staff was really nice and helpful and confirmed someone would be available in 15 minutes. Tea, coffee, beverage? No, thank you. I was looking around the walls for all the award plaques and saw Kashmir's name on them. I'm thinking: it would have been a better idea to call ahead and gotten an appointment with Kashmir. And she walks up to me. I was quite excited at the good luck and told her I trust her, don't want to lose my length (waist-length hair) but want it to be fun, summery and healthy. She did a great job and the reason I waited a week to write the review is because I wanted to wash my hair a couple of times and then see how well the haircut holds! Alejandro is amazing! I live in SF but was in Boston for work having had a done color right before coming out that was horrible. It was waaaaay too dark and I absolutely hated it. Alejandro took the time listen to the situation, my concerns (ie. no bleach or hard chemicals to correct) and outline what my ideal would look like. He then clearly went through my options, worked with me to chose the best one and went to work as my 'fixer'. He totally delivered and I was ecstatic with the results! My hair was back to it's milk chocolate color with a fabulous shine as well. A really mixed experience I'm increasingly frustrated about. Don't think I'll be back. Came on a friend's recommendation (whose hair is brilliantly done by Lindsey). Booked a partial foil & cut with Constantina. 4/5 coloring & the salon in general - Beautiful partial foil by Constantina. Under $200, felt like a great value. - Katie washed my hair and was a complete sweetheart. - Check-in was great; received a tea right away. - Great availability (booked same week as appt) 2/5 haircut & experience with stylist. I requested a simple cut (much-needed trim of my shoulder-length hair & bangs). - Really unhappy with my bangs. She cut way deeper into my hairline than expected, so I have this weird chunk of bang-length hair sitting on top of my full-length hair. Noticed it the first time I washed it. Weeks later, it's still weird & frustrating. - There was a time gap between my color/cut - and a 2nd woman had an appt in that gap. Probably many reasons for it (the foil could've taken longer than expected bc my hair's thick), but in the end: o My haircut was rushed - *maybe* 15-20 mins start-to-finish with the consult & a blow-out o We were interrupted frequently by the 2nd customer who was processing right behind us who felt she needed frequent attention o And (bc of this?) C was abrupt me. I try to be low maintenance, but I felt disrespected. - I paid, I think, $85 for the the worst haircut I've ever received. I called ahead for a price quote the day before and was told a specific time slot would yield 65 for a haircut, when I went in they charged me 80. I am a student on a budget- don't expect to retain customers without valuing them and having the decency to let them know about a stylist/ price change. In addition, for an 80 dollar hair cut, it was not even worth it. The stylist, Stanley, rushed through poking my eyes while cutting and I had to remind him to add more layers. I don't really go all that often to salons for haircuts, and I have to say that is my best experience yet. My stylist Shanaz really took the time to get to know and vibe with me! I. Love. Constantina. As a background, I've never dyed my hair before, I don't ever blow dry my hair, and my go to hair style is brushing my hair post-shower. Sunday morning, I woke up and decided I wanted to dye my hair. I had flirted with the idea for YEARS, but never actually did it. So, it was then that I decided that I would: A. Find a salon open on a Monday and B. Do it. Thank god, I did. I was set-up with a consultation with Constantina, who listened to everything I said. Like really listened. After explaining what the different types of things I could do to dye my hair, we ultimately decided on ombre. I know. Huge change. But my big thing was, I didn't want anything that looked too obvious. Basically, I wanted to look like I had been laying in the sun all day every day and she nailed it. My hair looks so natural, but with a subtle change that people notice a difference, but can't tell what. It's perfect. I'll definitely go back to her for anything else I do with my hair, and who knows, maybe I'll get crazy and go another shade lighter. But I would definitely recommend Viselli Santoro Salon, specifically, Constantina, to all my hair virgins out there looking for a subtle, natural change or if you just have a lot of questions but think you sound stupid asking them. read more

I have been seeing Jackie Raymond for my hair color and cuts for five years! She does an absolutely incredible job every single time. My blonde color looks natural and sun-kissed - never yellow or brassy. Jackie invests a lot in her own education and educates other colorists at Viselli, so she is always up to date on the latest techniques to keep my hair looking beautiful and natural. On top of being a fabulous and knowledgeable colorist, Jackie is a wonderful person. She is always fun and upbeat, and I consider her a friend. While Jackie is obviously very talented with blonde color, she also colors my sisters dark hair and does a wonderful job. This review is for Ashley Boyle. I will post before and after pictures too. This was my first visit to Viselli Santoro, and I was not disappointed. I walked in with boring, long brown hair and walked out with beautiful blonde balayage and a style that was much more polished. Ashley took time to hear out exactly what I wanted- I have had bad experiences with ombre gone wrong as well as brassy blonde highlights in the past- and she TOTALLY exceeded my expectations. She hit the "gold tone" that I wanted right on the money, and really took her time to balayage my entire head. This was not a small task as I have a lot of hair. She is very skilled with color, as well as pleasant and easy to talk to. She gave me great advice for the upkeep, and I thoroughly enjoyed my entire experience. I have been to more expensive salons such as Roy Teeluck in NYC and Laurentius in Philadelphia...and they didn't do HALF as good a job as Ashley. I found my new stylist/colorist! I had an appointment scheduled at Viselli to see Shanaz (had a cut with her a few months to go and loved it), and I was very excited for my visit. I work full time in the medical field and was looking forward to this hair refresh as a relaxing treat for myself. On the morning of my appointment (which was scheduled for after work later that day) I unfortunately felt pretty sick and thought I might have COVID symptoms. To be on the safe side, I called the salon to reschedule the appointment for the protection of their staff. They brushed me off, saying that I would still have to come in or forfeit the entire cost of the appointment - ie I would still pay for the entire visit but wouldn't receive any services. I was very confused by this and assured them that I'd still like to come in at a later date, but as someone in the medical field felt it would be irresponsible to risk it. They said that I could provide proof of a positive COVID test - which is ridiculous as we know false negatives are still possible - but even then, I'd have to pay 50% of the original service cost. This policy all but ensures those who actually DO test positive and try to be responsible to protect staff would be hesitant to tell the salon about it - risking exposure and a possible super spreader event. What responsible business still has a policy like this in 2022? Do better. read more

After reading reviews on yelp I called to make an appointment on a Friday afternoon. They were able to fit me in 30 minutes later with Colleen. I had never been to the salon before but had a great appointment! Colleen washed my hair and took the time to really discuss with me what I wanted (just a haircut of 3-4 inches with some layers and face frame). She seemed confident and I definitely felt like I could trust her with my hair. We chatted throughout the appointment and she was funny, respectful and friendly. She blew it dry and also offered to do a beach wave which I thought was a wonderful extra touch. I was able to use a 20% off coupon from yelp as well making it a reasonable price for a high end salon at ~$65. I went here and liked it, however I will never return. As the omicron cases rose just before Christmas and my temperature was consistently at 100.3 I called to let them know I was concerned about coming in in case I was positive and might make people sick. Rather than encourage people to do the same to protect each other, they charged me for the visit anyway. I understand the hard strain on businesses but to prioritize the cost of one lost visit over keeping your staff and clients safe (and keeping a client who intended to be a long-term client) is not a people-focused ethos. We have many choices and will choose professionals who put people and public health first. read more

Viselli did an excellent job of keeping me safe as a customer during the pandemic. Only 2 customers were there and everything was very distanced and clean. However, I wasn't very impressed with my haircut. I have naturally curly hair, so the 2 inches she was going to take off ended up being much more - something a hair stylist should anticipate. Then the blowout was probably the worst blowout I've ever had - rather than go section by section smoothing out my hair, she rough-dried it into a frizzy mess and then roughly blew it out. I immediately washed it out when I got home. My curtain bangs were also uneven - one side had more bangs cut into it. read more

I am writing this review because I wish I would have seen something like this prior to booking. I had asked for an icy blonde balayage. Something I had gotten very consistently prior to moving to Boston. I do not think the stylist knew how to do balayage. Her first attempt was terrible. I do want to acknowledge that she recognized it did not go well and did a second round, but of highlights, NOT balayage. I would probably have been ok with that but this photo is the very next day. Desperate for a quick bang trim, I stopped in here last week. I was really impressed that the owner went out of her way to find a stylist for me and I was in and out in about 15 minutes. The trim was perfect and the stylist kind and friendly. The only thing I found rather off-putting was that the owner told me the trim would be $15 but then when I was checking out the clerk at the front told me it would be $17 because of a $2 eco fee. I was baffled that this was not disclosed earlier and protested. The owner was standing by and quickly waived the fee. They should have a sign or something about this. Also, it seems very steep to assess on small services like a bang trim, which may be why it was waived for me. I'll definitely be back here for future trims as it's convenient to my office. read more

CONSTANTINA is Amazing! My roots were orange and hair color not even close nor matching the 613 extensions I was wearing. For those who dont know that is a platinum blonde color. She is confident in what she does and when others were hesitant to touch my hair she trusted her talent and Fixed the color and made me that platinum blonde and perfectly blends with my clip in extensions perfectly!!!!! The products she used were great and no hair fell out. I am in Boston for school but when I return to NY I will 100% take the 4 hour drive when I am due for a touch up to Constantina. Amazing. Stay away from Adrianna - she destroyed my hair. She purposely flipped all of my ends out when she blow dried it to hide her bad work - I have never had any hair dresser do that every in my life. It looked ridiculous when I left and, and I kept wondering why she would blow dry it like that (she claimed she likes to dry hair "with body"--total BS!) it was not until I came home and ironed it that i saw the two sides were grossly uneven and chopped up. She had no idea how to cut bangs either - she just cut the hair straight across and I had to tell her to angle it down. She is nice but seems like she was never trained to cut hair at all! I LOVE THIS PLACE. So I was impulsive and got out of work at 5pm and wanted a hair coloring appointment for that same evening. After calling about 11 different places, this one said they had an opening for me. I got balayage on black Asian hair and it looks amazing. My stylist, Cole, also gave me a complimentary free blow out afterwards. I will DEFINITELY be coming back in the future.
