The worst experience I ever had in this salon. Like she was doing first blowout in her life

After having tried tons of salons in Mass, this one, has me convinced to become my go-to! I went in with a very vague idea of what I wanted. Not only did Graziella do a fabulous cut and blow dry in 30mins, she was also helpful with suggesting hair products and techniques for managing my hair. The cost is of course steep, but you get your money's worth! read more

I got a beautiful balayage done here by Graziella! The reason I'm not giving this place five stars is because I still walked out with a strong pang of regret -- I asked for like 1.5-2 inches of my hair to be cut off (my hair was originally just below the breast, so pretty long, and I asked for it to be cut to the top of the breast just to get split ends cut off and some freshness with a slightly shorter look), but I still got like 4 inches chopped off (you can see in the picture that my hair is well above the breast and right at the shoulder ) Styled, I think it looks trendy and cute, but as someone who really values long hair and explicitly did not ask for that much length taken off, I'm pretty shaken that this happened. In the future, after I grow my hair out myself, I'll probably try to take care of split ends myself and just get a balayage done here, because I feel like stylists take a lot of liberties when they're cutting hair. I've never had a satisfactory salon experience in this regard (I've always had too much hair cut off), but hopefully I'll find a better solution to getting split ends trimmed/minimal length lost soon. Would highly recommend this place for the beautiful balayage I received, but maybe not for a haircut if you're trying to maintain length. read more

I made my appointment on June 3 for today, June 17, so that is 2 weeks in advance. This was a very important appointment because it was for my golden birthday party happening tonight. I also took a personal day from work for this appointment. However, around 10am, I received a call that my appointment was cancelled by the hairstylist with the phrase "sorry for the inconvenience." I get it things come up, but cancelling my appointment 5 hours in advance is very off putting and unprofessional, especially because if I were the one who cancelled the appointment that late (less than 24-48 hours in advance), I would have been charged with a hefty cancellation fee of $225 dollars, basically 50% of the service. If this is the cancellation policy, you must hold both the clients and hairstylists accountable or it is a double standard! read more

Salon Capri is one of my favorite salons. Not does every hairstylist's hair looks fabulous, it almost feels like im on a set of keeping up with the kardashians. Beautiful balayage and color work, with ash tones even for asians like me who find it hard to get rid of the brassy orange tones when i dye my hair a lighter color. A shoutout to my hair stylist cameron who keeps my hair a vibrant ashy brown! She is amazing, understanding and the only stylist i trust with my hair color. After a stint with other salons on newbury who fried my hair, i am never leaving this place! They also serve the best kind of coffee- nespresso!! read more

I went in for a haircut with Ashley for the first time (during COVID-19). I am not used to luxury salons but I decided to try it since I haven't treated myself in so long. It was a very smooth experience. I was greeted by the receptionist who sat me down in the salon chair, I had a great shampoo and deep condition which was much needed. Ashley listened to exactly what I wanted: not taking up the length of my hair too much while giving me some blended layers and bangs. I was in and out of the salon in about 45 minutes and even received a shampoo recommendation. It's not something to take down a star for but just expect to pay the Newbury street price. I would definitely return here for my annual haircut. read more

Guys seriously. Cameron is the best. I went from butt length hair to beautiful long bob in my usual ashy brown/blonde balayage. Cameron is a magician, I swear! Had my hair done by Theresa today and she was absolutely the best! I was greeted immediately upon entering, and handed a robe. I was about 20 minutes early but Theresa still took me. I was offered coffee and we discussed everything I expected from my cut, and she actually listened! The salon itself is gorgeous and they have these massage chairs you sit in while you get your hair washed. Theresa also gave the most Amazing head massage. I would go back just for the massage. The cut itself was just as I wanted. I will say it was definitely shorter than I asked, but it did need it. The style and blow dry were perfect. Definitely recommend Theresa and I will be back! read more

This is now my go-to salon. When someone asks me for the best salon in Boston I always just blurt out "SalonCapri"...I don't even need to think about it. You want an updo that's Oscar-worthy? Make sure to go to Graziela. She knows hair and does it all - cut, color, updos, braids, etc etc. I also really like Ashley - that girl can Balayage. I'm not going to trust anyone to do my hair if their own hair is not 100% perfection. Same feeling about Estheticians. If you have gross skin please don't touch my face! Luckily, everyone at SalonCapri has fabulous hair. The space is gorgeous, everyone is extremely nice and accommodating and the scalp massages are another level. Your stylist should be your friend, therapist and Fairy God Mother and at Salon Capri your transformation will be pretty darn close to Cinderella. Now hit up Newbury Street and get those glass slippers to complete the look! read more

The lady who took care of me spent half an hour talking and thinking how to fix my hair and talking to other stylist who showed that she didn't know what to do. After that she said many times that I will do this for you because I don't have time. Well, they should not book me with her anyway if she is in a rush!!!! She kept pulling my hair really hard and she was really rough! When she was washing my hair, she was very aggressive to the point she hit my neck up and down on the sink! The hair color was OK inside the saloon but when I went out, it turned out that the orange shade was still in my hair and it has not changed much!!! I paid $300 for this service and also I went originally for highlights that was never done. read more

I went in looking for a fresh ombre and haircut. The employees were all polite and very much took their time in terms of the details. I didn't realize until I went up to pay that the salon didn't accept tips on credit or debit card, so I paid the bill as usual and promised to be back with a tip after visiting an ATM. I came back ten or so minutes later to the receptionist telling me that she'd accidentally undercharged me $100 for my services and requested that I pay it. The ordeal didn't sit well with me seeing as it was only by chance that I returned to the salon for them to ask for more money out of me, and no discount, credit, etc was offered, save for the receptionist's apologies. While I can totally believe that a Newbury Street salon would charge that much, her asking for another $100 after the initial bill had been payed seemed arbitrary and all-around disconcerting. Had I not returned to offer a cash tip, I can't imagine the salon could've done anything aside from owning up to what was a pretty sizable mistake on their part. All in all, the $285 plus tip that I ended up paying was pretty nuts considering the final product even without the unprofessional experience I happened to have. I had a wonderful experience at Salon Capri in Newbury. My color and styling was terrific, as provided by Graziella. The thing that I am unhappy about is the cost of the service. When I first went in for a consultation, I was told that my color, an ombre to red, would cost around $125-150. When all was said and done my bill for services only was just over $300, much more than I had anticipated paying. I also never saw a breakdown of the services, which would have been helpful in knowing exactly what I was paying for. Without this surprise, I would have rated the salon much higher, but now I am questioning whether or not to go back as I feel slightly "duped". All in all, the final product is amazing and I love it, which may be enough to bring me back as well as recommend Salon Capri Newbury to others. read more

I love Salon capri! I am always a little scared going into a hair salon because I have very thick hair and a lot of the times stylist will butcher my hair and I'll leave disappointed. But this was not the case! I went in trying to get a certain stylist who was not available but got Latoya instead which was not a mistake! I loved her! I have never written a Yelp review before but had the most amazing hair color done at Salon capri thanks to Ashley. I have had color and corrections for the past 8 months now. My old stylist from CT gave me bright blonde highlights in May and I went to Pure in the south end for the correction, which entailed dying my hair a dark dark brown, 3-4 shades darker than my usual. I wasn't happy with that and returned there a month later for highlights. Again, they were way too light- almost like they were left on for too long. I found myself pulling bright blonde strands of hair out in the shower despite having been a brunette all my life. I didn't want to spend any more money to get that fixed since at this point I had spent more in 3 months than I normally had in a year. Once they had grown out a bit I decided I wanted to get balayage done to avoid the line" that you see when foil highlights grow out. After searching around on yelp, it seemed like Ashley at SC had great reviews so I went for it. In one sitting she has brought me back to my natural brunette while keeping some of the brighter highlights around my face for dimension. She listened to what I wanted and then explained to me what she thought the best solution would be. She outline what we would do in this appointment, and how we could continue to transition my hair in future appointments down the road if my color didn't take quickly. However, it's basically where I want it to be at from this one appointment. I couldn't be happier- it was money well spent to achieve a great color (finally) in one sitting! I went to Salon Capri on its opening week and loved it!! I made an appointment over the phone and was scheduled to get a hair cut at 6pm with Graziella Lembo. I arrived a little early but was greeted by Jessica and the rest of the friendly staff behind the front desk immediately. They took my coat and offered me a seat and even complimentary espresso! The decor was very chic and modern with huge windows overlooking Newbury street. It looked like something out of a magazine!! Most everything as white also highlighting the very clean feel that the salon had. Graziella was amazing! She asked what I was looking for and actually listened and styled my hair how I had wished. When she washed my hair, she offered me a deep conditioning treatment, which had my hair soft for days! The chairs even had feet rests and massagers while my hair was getting washed. I wish my hair grew faster because I can't wait to be going back! I even got an email for 15% off my next visit just for going during the first week! read more

I asked that my hair makeover will be done by Ashley because I heard that she is an artist in the field. She did my haircut (long bob) and balayage. The result was magnificent!! I recently relocated to Boston and chose SalonCapri as my new salon as they carried my favourite brand, Shu Uemura - after reading reviews I assumed it was a safe bet - I was wrong. I have several weddings and events this summer, so naturally, wanting to look my best, I went in for a refresh on my balayage and a haircut, something I have been getting for many years. My hair is naturally ashy and I wanted to brighten up the color, the last time I colored my hair was September. The balayage ended up very brassy, even after I specifically asked for it to be cooler in tone, it was actually pink/purple toned around my face. The hairdresser did note the bad tone and agreed to attempt to correct, she started and then handed me off to a peer, she didn't even have the courtesy to finish the job. I was told that the gloss/toner would fade and I should just wash my hair a few times, which seemed unfair to me. I spent 3.5 hours of my time, paid $325 and left unhappy. I decided to call back the next day and let them know I was not happy, something I have never done. They let me know I would have to see the same stylist, when I refused, they agreed to have me back in to see someone else free of charge. This part of the overall experience was better, my hair was fixed, so I thought, they did not charge me and I was off. Today, 2 days later, I washed my hair for the first time since the correction and when round brush drying (no hot tools) a huge chunk of my hair broke, on my hairline, at my part, making it extremely visible, little bleached spikey hairs. I am devastated and also terrified to blow-dry my hair again. My hair doesn't part differently and in trying to pull back in a ponytail you can still see the little hairs. This is years worth of damage that can't be fixed - might have to shave my head for these weddings... read more

Here is my update - I reached out to Cameron to ask her why she cut off so much more hair than she said she was going to, and she said shes so sorry and that she will have the manager contact me asap - three days later and I haven't heard from the manager. Kevin Thurston is simply the best for natural looking but perfect brunette hair. He restored my drab brown hair color to what it was when I was 16 and went to the beach. Totally natural and gorgeous. Have seen several other brunettes in his chair and blondes, all beautiful. He also does very natural balayage when I need it. Other colorists have overdone it and my hair would oxidize too red. He works part time in NYC and is very high fashion but natural, which is a really hard combo to find. Love his personality as well, very easy going, sweet guy. read more

So far I very happy with the cut Graziella gave me, and she was very sweet. I have gone to Stylist, Cathy Nunes for years. She creates a style that is easy to care for and looks very well thought out. I think she can come up with a design that will fit your shoes as perfectly face. I really give her little information and she just DC does it, and I am h as ppy with what she does! read more

One minor but frustrating point: there is no way to contact them off hours. No email. No way to leave a voice mail. No way to reschedule an appointment on line. After giving Salon Capri three tries, every time spending $300-400 and leaving very unsatisfied with the cut and/or color, she swore to never come back. The stylist working with her was either unwilling listen or unable to understand. Or simply was not that experienced as a stylist. Even when my wife showed a photo of the color and cut she wanted to recreate (her own photo), the stylist could not deliver at all. Too much hype about this salon. What an amazing surprise this place was. I came here on Christmas Eve to get a blowout and was so shocked at how close it was my hotel (taj boston). I was impressed for sure. For starters, the shampoo area chairs are massage chairs which is amazing. But most importantly my stylist Graziela was fantastic. Super sweet and truly talented with hair. She gave me an amazing blowout that was gorgeously curl and shiny. Color me impressed. This place is arrogant and not client-centered. I made an appointment 3 months ago to have my hair highlighted. Today, the day before the appointment, they called to cancel because there was a "scheduling snafu". They had booked me into a 6 pm and apparently they close at 7 pm so it wasnt enough time to wash and highlight my hair. When i said i could arrive at 5:30 they said someone else was scheduled then. When I asked that they keep me there the extra fifteen minutes or so after their official close time , they said they "couldn't" do that. (that's simply a financial decision). The only thing they would offer me is a different stylist (then why go there?) or a week and a half later. There was a reason I picked this date three months ago... Stay away!! read more

This place is amazing! I was a little nervous about getting my hair done at a new salon, but Ashley did a fabulous job with my color and cut. Salon Capri is the BEST!!! I had been going to the same place for a long time because it was comfortable, but after a TERRIBLE color experience that was attempted to be fixed twice, I had to look elsewhere. I recently moved to Back Bay and had heard great things about the Salon. My experience was night and day from my old place and I will not be going anywhere else! I made an appointment with Ashley Mason which ended up being the best decision I could have made! The salon itself is beautiful. The staff is nice and accommodating, they offer you a fancy water, cappo or coffee upon arrival. Ashley is so warm, engaging and immediately put me at ease - I knew I was in the right hands! She offered her opinion on how to fix my atrocious hair - which I love! I hate when you go to hairdressers and they are like "well what do you want?"...I mean, that's why we are paying YOU - for your expertise! Ashley suggested I do balayage (I hadn't heard of it) but it is basically a very natural looking ombre that highlights the hair that frames your face. Amazing. I had a relaxing experience, especially in their amazingly comfy massage chairs while getting my hair washed!! Ashley styled my hair perfectly and I walked out looking like a movie star. The best part, however, is that she actually showed me a blow-drying trick so I could achieve the same look myself at home. It has changed my life!! I have referred all my friends to Ashley and can't wait to go back myself (even though I won't have to for a while since the color is so natural looking and low maintenance). Boo! I rescheduled for the next day but happened to follow him on social media and saw he was attending a concert the same time as my origional appointment. I'd been looking for a salon in boston since I just moved here. I received a mailer from SalonCapri and since it was so close to my house, I decided to give it a try. Upon arrival, I was warmly greeted and offered coffee or tea. I was impressed by their professionalism, sleek design, and the panoramic window that offers tons of sunlight into the salon. From there, I met my stylist, Graziella. She did a fabulous job of helping me determine what I wanted to do with my hair. It was on to have my hair washed.... wow! The best hair washing experience I have ever had. From the reclining massage chair to the scalp massage, I was in heaven! I cannot recommend Cathe Nunes enough! She has done my cut and blonde balayage for four years until my recent move to Los Angeles. Cathe is a true color expert and it shows in her extreme attention to detail and absolute perfectionism. There is no detail too small and she always makes sure you are 100% happy before you leave. I came to her with fine, frizzy, and damaged hair from some bad highlights at another Boston salon. Cathe was able to get my hair healthy again, and gave me the most natural dirty blonde balayge I have ever had. I'm 29 and have been highlighting my hair since high school, and Cathe is the best colorist and stylist I have met to date.
