Extremely unprofessional. I've been a returning client at their NorthStar location for years. Recently, that location has closed. I called the La Cantera location and booked an appointment for the basic-level haircut with a non-premium stylist ($45). I went in today at 10:00AM and after my cut was completed, went to the checkout desk to pay. I was then told that my bill would be $110; they put me with a "premium stylist". Confused, I tried to clarify that I had specifically asked for a basic cut, with a NON-premium stylist. They continued to deny this, saying that it was in their system that I had booked with the higher-costing stylist; when THEY were the ones to create my appointment in their system. After going back and forth, they lowered the price to $90, which is still DOUBLE what I was expecting to pay. They refused to honor the $45 price that I had booked for. I had to split the cost between two cards, as I didn't have enough money. Extremely unprofessional and honestly, ridiculous. Incredibly embarrassing as well. My stylist, Evelyn, was great. She had no part in this. I'm embarrassed to admit that since they overcharged me, I didn't have enough money to tip her. The receptionist/Counter workers were the issue in this case. If I could leave 0 stars, I would. I will not be returning due to their actions. Do better. read more

After she asked me whether I waned to lose any length and I answered an emphatic no, Elena chopped all my past-my-shoulders hair off and gave me the cut on the right. She also refused to give me any layers in the back to at least stack the "bob". She kept telling me that layers were out, etc. This was not at all what I wanted, it cost me $100, and I feel like I'm starting over. It will be at least a year before I have another shot at the hair style I love. I did the express 2 days ago at this location and these photos were taken after blowout. I paid $120.00 to have my hair exactly the same it was before the express. They said it would remove the frizz and make it stringy after blowout. I did thousands of express treatment before (keratin treatment) and worked all times just not at this place! I made an appt with the girl at the counter while my daughter was getting her hair done. I told the girl I wanted a color, some highlights and a cut. While I was talking to her, a worker comes up and she starts talking to the worker and just ignores me, finishes with the worker and gives me a date and time. I show up for my appt, tell the stylist what I want, she then tells me that she CANNOT cut my hair, that she can only color it. If I want my hair cut, I have to make a different appt with a different stylist. I found that odd, I've never heard of that before. I told her that I wanted chunky highlights, on the bottom portion of my hair and a color. That's not what I got. I have a million highlights and no hair cut for $319!!!! I will NEVER go back to this place! Now I know why there aren't that many workers and the place is nearly empty! Please take my advice and go somewhere else! read more

And the color did not turn out the way I wanted it to be, in addition to overcharging me especially with not walking out happy. I called ahead of time to let them know I was running about 10 minutes late (I got there in about 5) and the receptionist asked if it would be ok to not blow dry my hair after my cut, And I let her know it's fine if she doesn't have enough time to dry my hair. Once I got there before she washed my hair I started pointing out the layers that needed to be fixed and she said it would be easier to do with my hair dry - perfectly fine since there "wouldn't be time to dry it" After a 10 minute trim she said, you're all set! Great, saved time. Upon checking out I was shocked that they charged me for the full cost of a cut that includes a wash and blow dry. For a 10 minute trim. I asked her, doesn't that include and wash and blow dry? And she said yes! Ok??? Either provide the service I'm paying for or don't charge me for it. Ffs. We used to go here a lot. The last few times have been pretty horrible in just my experience alone. I was at the sink washing my hands and saw an employee in the bathroom with gloves on, come out of a stall after using either 1. Using the restroom 2. Using her phone (both are probably about equally nasty) and she just blew passed the sink and went straight to a customer to wash her hair. Maybe she figured she would kill two birds with one stone and wash her hands and the customers hair and the same time? Gross. All while wearing the same gloves... The last three times I've had to sit at the couch and wait. Lastly, they have never been really friendly. I've also seen some pretty wicked bullying going on there which I don't care for. I could tell the girl was embarrassed. We reported all the incidents we witness which were all in the same day to the people up front who didn't seem to care. I've been a client for the past 10 years and and had always loved my hair colors and cuts. Until last week. I kept wondering why it was taking longer than usual for my highlights. She burned my hair and it was breaking off. The worst part is she never told me! So when I got to the haircut he was very scared to cut my hair. I swear he did 4 sizzor cuts and blowed it dry I looked in the mirror and it was so bad. I left crying. No one explained what had happened. After paying 300 dollars I was MAD! I came to visible changes to get an uneven haircut/horribly uneven balayage fixed. Let me say I will never go anywhere else! Veronica and Maricruz are now my hair team. Veronica worked wonders on my horribly colored/damaged hair. I have never had a hair stylist care so much about me or how my hair turned out. The entire time I was there she methodically placed the color and reassured me she could fix it. She is a miracle worker! Maricruz fixed my uneven cut with ease and taught me how to style my hair, because I'm not the greatest at it. I was a regular with Melissa who does great wonders for my hair. Stopped in today for my regular color. This was a shock to me. Not only do they charge for every service separate they expect a tip for each service color,wash,cream rinse and blow dry hair. Then you get to desk to pay and your ticket has a $5.25 tacked on plus they want you to add another tip. It tells you at bottom of ticket which I didn't see till I got home. That amount tells you percentage for anther tip. I really like how Melissa does my hair but this salon rips you off. I think gone over board-money hungry. Bottom line my touch up was a fair price of $135.00 then with all tips of $58.35....that's about a 34% tip. I don't like tipping like this and I tip on the job done. The owner millionaire will have to pad his pocket but not from me. I know times are tough but his company is a total over rip off. I say I will probably go on to a home town shop. I've been going to one person to get my hair trimmed twice now... they referred me to a girl that did amazing at balayage (apparently).. I showed the lady the hair I wanted with a picture.. she said she could do that.. I walked in to get a balayage and hair trim. They F***ed my hair. My balayage is orange and my hair trim is chopped to pieces!!! DO NOT GO HERE!!!!! DO NOT WAIST YOUR MONEY!!!! I spent about $250. I called the store about fixing it and they told me they could but to change it to a different color they would charge me $50-$100 to fix the mess they caused. Called to make appt. and let salon know we would be donating my teenager's hair. Booked appt. with Sr. Stylist at $40. Upon arrival, the stylist says it will be an additional $25 because that cut would take longer than 30 minutes. I should have been told about that upcharge when I made the appt. I watched her make two ponytails and cut them off in about 3 minutes minutes. The stylist washes my kid's hair and then proceeds to cut and carefully measure and then cut and measure repeatedly, which looked like she was just extending the time to ensure it was well over the 30 minute limit. I appreciate the diligence in getting the cut even, but it looked like she was overcompensating. Kind of feeling swindled by salon folk at this point, with no reparations. read more

Well once it did dry naturally I looked at it in the mirror. You can see brown hair in spots and blonde hair where they bleached it in others. The green isn't even a consistent color! totally angry and very upset. all week I've been getting reminder calls and calls to confirm my appt today which on each occasions I confirmed then today.. 1 hr 20 mins before my appointment they call me and cancel and say no one is available to cover or add me on at any time in the afternoon. I went in today to color the under layer of my hair blonde, which turned out really nice and how I wanted! The only issue was that I was initially quoted $50 over the phone AND before she began. When I got the counter, they told me it would be $180. I was very confused and she told me the bleach was an extra $30, which I didn't realize but I suppose made sense? Then she said the total was $130 and I was confused again because I thought she just said it would be $80 total. Then she said it was because of how much product they had to use. I couldn't have known any of this and I feel they really needed to communicate at least the possibilities to those price increases to me. i went for a wash and a brush blow dry.. so nothing super fancy, you would say... i did request volume as my hair is super thick and i have volume anyway so that its very easy achievable with a brush.. i have showed the lady who did my hair 3 times the picture on how i want it to look like in the end.. she said she definitely can do it.. i was waiting quietly while she was doing my hair but in the middle of her doing my hair, i have noticed my hair was not curled in the ends and had no volume. told her and she replied with: oh, in the end i m gonna curl the ends too. By far the best haircut that I have had in years. After 3 years of searching, I finally found a go to stylist!! The whole process here from the shampoo to haircut to even checking out was wonderful. I don't know why this place has such bad reviews! Even before I step foot in the salon, I had a great experience with the front desk lady (Kiera?) over the phone. I called her THREE different times in one day to set up my account, make an appointment, etc and she was so polite and friendly each time! Then, I scheduled my ombré job with Veronica (thanks to other yelp reviews)and she was outstanding: did my hair EXACTLY how I asked and was so nice to talk with. I HIGHLY recommend her for any dye job you can imagine; so talented! I then had my hair cut and my layers fixed by Mariah who also did a great job! My only caution is that this place is sorta pricy, but you get what you pay for and Veronica let me know the grand total beforehand anyway. Overall, I honestly cannot recommend this pair enough!
