I was shocked, cause it had taken time to get to that blonde color, was told to return in 2 weeks to have it redone.. returned was charged 120.00 dollars plus tip to have it half way to what I had plus I have to return to get it closer to what I had .. IT WAS NOT MY MISTAKE... why am I paying to get what I had... I can understand paying for what I had come for " A ROOT TOUCH UP"....... Well, first I have to say that although my name is karen as you can see from my yelp account I never post reviews. I did however need to share my experience at Visible Changes La Cantera. Front desk is very rude and so are most of their stylists. After a very expensive ombré that left my hair super damaged and a copper color in parts that should have been blonde, I was charged almost $300 and rushed out with the promise of a correction in a few weeks. I return in a few weeks with an appointment and the girl that had originally done my highlights and I had my follow up appointment with was busy with someone else. She pawned me off on another stylist who had no idea what was going on with my hair. She never explained it to her or even stopped by to speak with me about the change, even though she was in the salon at that time. I choose to give the new stylist a chance but she took one look at my hair and said "I'm sorry I can't do anything for your hair" mind you this is after I drove 23 miles to get to salon and had sent the original stylist photos and she agreed she could fix it. This new stylist was saying she could not correct it until I let the color fade a bit more. Upset I left once again without getting anything done. I was asked to wait a month. I waited 2 months to truly be safe and then scheduled another appointment. I was told by the manager that she would compensate me for the correction area, to include the foils in the areas with the copper as well as for the all over toner on my next visit. When I showed up today for my appointment (all together 3 months waiting for this correction) the stylist that had told me there was nothing she could do last time tried to start telling me that same thing again. I explained the situation and how long I waited and she said "we will see how it goes color is finicky we won't know anything until we get in there" then continued to look at her watch and tell me that we were already minutes into appointment and we may not finish cause she had other appointments and we had already spent too much time talking about it!!! (16 min to be exact) as she gladly pointed out. She was rude, rushing me, and not listening at all. Everything I said I felt ignored. I was praying for the best. She had 3 other clients she was working on me during my allotted appointment time. She spent more time with them and away then doing my hair. Hair ended up looking almost the same as when I started and then I was asked to pay $160. I had a total of 10 foils. I was told the foils were $10 each and remember the toner would be free due to all the times I had come and they hadn't corrected it. So why was I paying so much??? Also, the manager had agreed that for every foil used to correct the copper color those would be free too. When I was rung up at front desk she started telling me with an attitude that the stylist felt she that she did a good job on me and and with an attitude explained all these technical terms and extra costs. I explained that I spoke to the manager on phone before my appointment and she told me about toner and foil costs only. Not all these other things. She walked back to speak to the manager 2 times to clarify! I thought it was very rude that I sat there waiting I am not sure why the manager didn't just come out to talk to me instead of all the back and forth. Now I know what you may be thinking maybe the manager was busy. Fair statement.....Here is the thing. When I booked my appointment for the 3 time in this salon I ensured that it be booked while she was there. I even spoke to her (the manager) and asked her to please take a look at my hair before and after the highlights. Guess who didn't even come out once during my 2 hour appointment? Or while I was cashing out and having issues? You guessed it the manager! With that being said at the end I did only pay for what I should which were the ones that didn't cover the copper. But to be honest, I shouldn't have even bad for those. I spent almost 4 months total dealing with all this. But fair is fair. This whole place is a disgrace. They don't care about their customers at all. They tell you what you want to hear and then they do what they want. Visible changes please don't get on here leaving comments about, "sorry about your experience, what can we do etc" I am doing this for people. My experience has been too terrible and so much back and forth and people have the right to know and should. You had plenty of opportunities and didn't truly care to help and then wanted to overcharge me. I was not going to use the stylist name but it's not fair to the rest of the stylist at the salons. Bottom line, David Dominguez Jr. is AMAZING with color!!! If you are in the market for something truly epic, David is your man! I've been toying with the idea of vibrant hair colors for years now. On Sunday, I finally dove right in with David & I could not be happier or more excited with the results! He created a color pallet that both worked with my coloring and maintained the spirit of what I asked for. Since I have a government job, I asked for "hidden" color where only the bottom half of my hair is dyed, and it is everything I wanted and more! Everyone who's seen it agrees that it looks amazing & is very "me". David not only expertly colored my hair, but explained and made me a part of each step of the process (I'd never colored my hair before). He even took the time to explain to me how to take care of my new do & what products to use (and what to avoid). I've been a patron of Visible Changes since 2002 (then, a Houston location). I have never been disappointed with the quality of services I've received. Went on a Sunday afternoon looking to get my Balayage re-done as well as a trim. The girls at the front did not ask what I wanted done with my hair, so I guess they assumed just a cut. Anyways, I show up at my appointment time and tell the lady what I want. She looks at me, puzzled, and says "i only do cuts...." I ended up getting my hair cut here, but I was not pleased with the customer service. The haircut seemed rushed. The girls at the front desk seemed in a hurry as well, just trying to get people in and out (which is a good way to make money I suppose). The lady who cut my hair was nice, but short and to the point, which is fine. However, I thought that as a whole, everyone could benefit to be on a more personable level with their clients. And girls at the front desk- PLEASE ask what the client wants and not just assume they want only a haircut. For the positives... they did offer military discounts, and my cut ended up being $31. Very cheap compared to other places I've been. I also am very pleased with my haircut. All in all, please work on your customer service skills. Clients are not just a number. I'm so mad! It took me a long time to grow out my hair only to get butchered by Stephanie. She texturized the living crap out of my hair and now it's all raggedy and lifeless. She left the bottom long and stringy and top looked like a bowl. The go by photo has no evidence of texturizing and she DID NOT ASK ME if I wanted texturing she just took it upon herself and did it. I'm furious. I went back and someone else tried to fix it but there's not much they could do and said I have to let it grow. They had to cut the length in order to take some of the texture out the top so I don't have a bowl head. Now it's lifeless and just hangs all stringy and takes extra work to fix so it doesn't look like a dang bowl on my head. It feels like I'm wearing someone else's hair. I HATE it and I'm so mad. I used to go here all the time to get my hair done but the last two times I've come I've had issues. The first one I had an appointment at 11 and they didn't start on me until 12:30. The second one they messed up my appointment and made it for the wrong day, so instead of starting at 10, I started at 11. Then the chemist was rude and made me sign a release saying the color I want will take multiple sessions and forced me to buy product in the store. I just received one of the worst and insensitive customer service I have ever been given. It definitely did not help that I tested positive for covid yesterday and I feel like my head is going to burst, even with both my vaccines and a booster. While her tone was very condescending and very disrespectful, I proceeded to tell her my condition and asked her to be kind. I have been coming to see Patty for about 3 years now and she always does such a great job! I have thick long hair and she knows exactly how to cut it. The last time I saw her was about a year ago and the price for a cut and style was $45. This week when I went, it was $75. $30 increase in a year?? I asked the receptionist and she said she had moved up in levels which is understandable but then she also said they increased their prices. I love Patty but I might be going somewhere else. That's a little too expensive considering I can go somewhere else for a cut and highlights for about $100. Why didn't I check Yelp first?!?! Visible Changes had glowing five star reviews everywhere else online (undoubtably fabricated) and I thought I'd give it a shot. I had the worst haircut experience of my life. My head is throbbing in pain, which I had no idea could result from a simple trim. The girl who cut my hair never introduced herself. She took me straight back to the sink without first looking at my hair or asking me what I wanted, she nearly choked me to death with the cape, and then after one of the most unpleasant and violent shampooings of all time, asked me if I would like conditioner. Conditioner, it turns out, is an additional charge (I'm sorry... what?). So I told her "no", and "good luck." Well, the joke was on me because since I had no conditioner and zero product, it resulted in most of my hair being ripped from my head by her unsympathetic yanking. Not to mention she had zero regard for the location of my ears while combing or shampooing: I was shocked to see my ears weren't combed off entirely, though they are red and angry. I should have listened to my gut and walked out with a wet head. To her credit, my hair looks pretty good, but it most certainly wasn't worth the pain. read more

Terrible customer service and clearly not interested in keeping clients. On Monday I walked in to schedule an appointment for a highlight and a cut. They scheduled me for Wednesday at 3pm. I arrived at 2:45pm on Wednesday and at 3:pm was greeted by my designated stylist. Upon sitting down I told her what I was looking to have done to my hair and stared that I would like a cut as well. I was informed that there was no one available to cut my hair and that I would need to reschedule my entire appointment. The stylist went to the front desk to verify that there was availability for the next day for both highlights and a haircut, and came back to me with good news that they can do it tomorrow, I just have to go up front to schedule it. Once at the front desk, I am informed that there no availability tomorrow, can I do it another day. I was also informed that getting the color done today and returning for only the haircut tomorrow is not an option because it would be "wasting product." This is interesting since I am the person paying for said product, and if I am okay with it, I am unsure why they are not. I have been to this location numerous times and each and every visit, they ask me if I am getting a cut as well, almost assuming that everyone does. I have never asked for the cut when I schedule the appointment, they always just ask once I am with the stylist. They did not ask when scheduling the initial appointment either. I will absolutely never return to Visible Changes and I highly recommend that others look elsewhere if you are looking for a place that puts your interests first and cares about you. I have had two appointments here recently. The first to get a trim and a practice-do for my wedding, I was very pleased with that first appointment. Then when I went in with my entire bridal party the day of my wedding, I was even more pleased. They had chairs ready for each girl, knew their first and last names, and were super accommodating to us. I was completely thrilled with my hair even though I ventured away from the practice-do and started fresh, it turned out fabulously. All of my girls were also very happy with their hair and the service was excellent. All of the staff was friendly and cheerful and just set the mood for the rest of the day. The prices at this place are outrageous and I'm appalled with their lower level employees. - I've had my hair colored there by Jamie and Riley. Both are great. I recommend those two for color. There is a lady there named, "Melissa." She's good but also knows she's good. She thinks way too highly of herself... Ugh! - Cut, Bianca is great. Nice gal. - When your colorist is finished with highlights the lower level employees (who don't know whether or not to wind their butts or scratch their watch) wash your hair and then do the treatments. In my opinion, the colorist should be doing that... That's what I'M PAYING YOU TO DO! The lower level employee's just down right stink. I realize there learning and I get that.... However, when I walk out of there with a $250.00 bill I expect "GREAT" service. - What upsets me the most... I think the colorist and the stylist do a good job.. Horrible!! If you want to pay $300 and have your hair fried by a MASTER stylist who claimed she had 15 years experience......then go here. I only went in for blonde highlights and came out muddy brown 4 hours later. Absolute nightmare! I had to go back the next day for them to fix it but now my hair is so damaged and fried. Save your money and don't go here. They didn't even a partial refund knowing how horrible my hair looked. The young lady who tried to fix it the next day, felt so bad for me and wouldn't even let me tip her. I really hate to have to right this review. I went in for color and cut. David was my colorist. He did a pretty good job on my hair before and I needed a touch up. He started doing my hair, in between texting on his phone. After working for about 10 minutes, he had to take care of another client. So I sat there with color on a portion of my hair for about 20 minutes. He came back and started working again but had to leave me to go and work on another client. I had to sit for about another twenty minutes with color on one my the side of my head and I was beginning to worry about my hair being over processed. After a long FOUR hours, I went home, I put my hair up and noticed several areas on the side of my head where the color had bleached the hair at the roots and then got dark. One section had a very distinct horizontal line of where the color went from dark to light to dark. Looked like tiger stripes. No problem. I'll just go back in and have David touch it up. Easy peasey. I also wanted to address all the breakage and singed strands that I saw. As soon as I saw him, I waved but he just gave me this nasty look. I thought, okay maybe he's not having fun with the client he's working on. No biggie. When it was time to go to his chair, he asked "so what's wrong with your hair??" I told him there were just a few spots that needed touched up and it shouldn't take long. I tried to show him but he wouldn't even look. He was on the opposite side of the problem area. I lifted the section and told him there is a line in my hair where the color is light then the rest of the strand is dark. He wouldn't even look at it. I tried to get him to look at the other section that was bleach blonde at the root and then darker. He looked and said nothing about that section but said the other area is just the dark hair underneath. I tried to show him again the line across my hair and he started giving me an attitude. He began raising his voice at me and kept saying "you said it went from light to dark! You said it went from light to dark!!" Well, if he bothered to take a damn look he'd see the same thing I, the receptionists, manager, and other stylists saw- a line of lighter hair across my strands. He just kept raising his voice and saying "you said it went light to dark". I thought 'what is wrong with this guy? Does he not see it? Is he color blind?' So I said "maybe you could get another stylist to take a look and explain it to you better". He never even faced the area in question. Never really looked at it. I even turned the chair around so he could see and he just stood there like an ass with his arms folded. I tried to show him again and he was yelling at me in front of other clients and employees. A women in a nearby chair was watching the whole thing and was just shaking her head at his behavior. Even the other employee working on her looked over and gave David a dirty look. He yells "what do you want me to do about it?" I said "just fix it. Fix the line". And he was going off again how I said the color went from light to dark. I told him let's not argue about semantics and just fix the spot. He was just angry and belligerent and I finally said "I'd like to just have someone else do my hair. Let me just go get someone else". He stomped his way up to the reception area and told them I want someone else. Everyone in the area heard his tirade and watched his hissy fit. I spoke to the lady at the reception desk who said "he probably just didn't want to do it cuz he won't get paid and doesn't want to use his time". I'm updating my rating from 1 to 4 stars. The manager, Tommy, did contact me to talk about the issue, which I really appreciated him taking time out to do that. It seems he was as shocked as I was. He issued me a refund for the color and apologized many times. I am grateful that the company cares about their clients and they take any issues seriously. My daughter attends UTSA and went to another salon where they absolutely botched her hair. She intended to donated more than 11 inches of hair to Wigs for Kids. She sent me a selfie of her new short hair and was very upset. I felt totally helpless and knew she needed this fixed ASAP! I did a Google search for salons near campus and found Visible Changes. I called and explained the situation to the young man who answered. He was incredibly polite and listened as I explained what had happened and the fact that I was two hours away trying to help my daughter. He recommended an appointment with Trenton, citing that Trenton had extensive experience with short hair. I wish I had asked that guy for his name because he was right! Trenton completely transformed by daughter's hair and she looks fabulous! The moment she walked in, Trenton looked at the pictures she had on her phone, talked about her options, discussed which style he thought would work for her and why. He listened intently, REALLY listened... then he worked his magic. When he was finished, he explained how she should style it since short hair is a completely new world for her. Trenton is amazing. If you have curly hair, please find some other place to go!!! I have cried leaving this salon because their knowledge of curly hair is near to nonexistent. I will say they do very nice Brazilian blowouts. Tabitha did a lovely job last time. I would highly recommend her if you're considering the smoothing treatment. In fact, I think most stylists are quite talented when working with straight hair, and I suppose that is why they always suggest to straighten my hair rather than just cut it curly like I want it. They can't seem to believe I don't want to straighten my hair, and their knowledge of how to cut and style curly hair is downright abysmal. I've been here multiple times with multiple stylists who are on the salon's "top tier" and each time I am disappointed by my cut and experience. Here's how it always goes, regardless of stylist: You come in having made an appointment and let them know you have curly hair. You wait for an hour past your appointment time. Finally someone calls you to wash your hair. The people who wash hair have no idea that curly hair is different from straight hair because they wash in a way that creates tangles, and they never use enough conditioner. They seem downright confused and sometimes even frustrated when washing my hair, as if they can't believe someone's hair would require extra product. Then try rub your hair dry with a towel. Anyone who has curly hair knows you never rub a towel on your hair. It creates frizz. Understanding why the people paid to do hair don't know this basic fact about curly hair is beyond me. Anyways, at some point, the hair washing is done and your stylist comes to get you. Apparently, information you give when making an appointment is not conveyed to stylists because they are always shocked to see my hair is curly. I have even had stylists sigh and tell me "ugh, this is going to take such a long time" and act as if I was the problem for having curly hair and making an appointment for a cut. Maybe if the front desk made sure to tell stylists the details about clients, this wouldn't happen. But now I have an annoyed stylist, which is not the best way to start out. All the stylists do everything the same way. They begin combing through your hair, which has been washed badly, towel dried, and has been air drying for a few minutes. Anyone with curly hair is probably cringing by now -- this is a recipe for tangles, difficult combing, and poof. Why they don't use some leave-in condition or at least wet the hair to make combing easier is incomprehensible to me. The bulk of the appointment is actually detangling. It takes around 20-30 minutes for them to detangle, but this process only takes me about 10 minutes because I know how to do it properly (use a conditioner!!!). They struggle and look irritated and I start to feel bad for making them do hair that is obviously out of their wheelhouse. But eventually they finish detangling, and your hair that came in looking nicely taken care of now looks like a poofy, dead triangle of frizz. They proceed with the cut. That's fine. I never ask for anything more complicated than a trim because I know at this point it would be a disaster. For example, I wanted to get bangs like Mariah Carey's 90s style, but I knew it would not be good to take such a risk. If you just want a trim, though, they can accomplish that. They finish your trim, put the most watery, ineffective leave-in conditioner known to man on your hair to "reinvigorate" the curls they just murdered through detangling without product, and act like your hair doesn't look terrible. I always smile and say "it's good!" because I doubt they know how to fix it, and I leave to go to a bathroom and put my hair in a bun. No one should leave a salon and feel the need to put their hair in a messy bun to look normal, but alas, that's how things go at Visible Changes. I have gotten better treatment of my curls at Fantastic Sams, and for a lot cheaper. In conclusion, don't come here unless you want your hair straight when you leave. Like I said, their smoothing treatments are great, and their flat-iron technique is impeccable. But if you're like me, the lone curly girl in a straight-haired family, try to find someone else to go if this is where your family members get their hair done. I had a pretty good experience but overall it wasn't my favorite salon. I really loved the lady who colored my hair as she was personable, sweet, and she did a fantastic job but I was hoping to come out with a few more blonde highlights for the price I was charged. A different man cut my hair and he was not very friendly and he didn't do the best job in my opinion. Overall an okay salon but I was a little underwhelmed with the final product, I felt like I was overcharged for what I got, and they did not even dry or style my hair after it was colored and cut. read more
