As a regular person jn pain needing a back/hip adjustment the doctor started questioning me about what is chiro care, chastising me for not regularly going to a chiropractor for routine maintenance (he likened chiro care to brushing my teeth). When I said my pain level was an 8, he scoffed at me and said really?! His passive aggressive strange behavior was shockingly unprofessional. We scheduled our appointments back to back so that we could knock it all out at once. The doctor was great! She was professional and thorough. Both hubby and I felt comfortable with the exam and her competence. The guy working the front was also very professional and friendly. Once the glasses came in, he took his time to ensure that the fit was perfect for each of us before we left. While we spent more than we normally do at America's Best even with insurance covering a portion of it, we feel like the service and quality live up to the cost. The issue is that they don't have any cheap frames. Most options are designer names. When I initially walked inside, I was immediately impressed. I was greeted by multiple people at the front desk, and I appreciated their use of technology in allowing me to confirm my information and sign the acknowledgment forms on a computer screen. April, the Certified Paraoptometric (CPO), took me to the examination room, and performed visual acuity tests. She also used the Optical coherence tomography (OCT) to take images of the retina or back of the eye. I valued the way she took the time to explain each step in the process. Afterwards, Dr. Flanagan, the optometrist, came into the room and finished the eye exam. She was professional as well as personable, and she took the time to answer all of my questions. The next step in the process was sitting down with Chad, the optician, to review eyewear options and select frames. When I had questions about the charges, and what my benefits covered, he provided all of the details related to the frames, the lenses, and all of the various options. The final step in the process was checking out and providing payment. Yolanda, the front desk manager, was friendly, and she offered me the opportunity of scheduling my next appointment before I departed. They made it very convenient to complete our required documents beforehand via their website so all we had to do was bring them in. The first set of tests for glaucoma, etc. were State-of-the-art and they have it set up very efficiently. First my husband went down the row of machines than I did then my daughter. I was so thankful that for an additional $55, they didn't have to dilate my eyes and instead used a machine that took a picture of the back of the eye. It was pretty cool! Also, they use a device but there's no puff of air which I was really grateful for! There was a power outage midway through our appointments and they handled it with care. As far as the portion that the doctor does, it's pretty standard procedure. Dr. Edwards listen to any concerns that we had and reviewed the results of the other test with us. My thought process has been that when they get you in the room to read the letters, it's not an efficient way to test someone's eyesight. I'd rather have them step outside with me while I've got lenses on so that I can truly look at distance versus close-up in adequate lighting. My husband got contacts and he thinks the prescription is perhaps too strong. Because they did not push products on us, we actually ordered glasses for me. They even sent us home with our popular distance so that I can order extra pairs online if I so choose. we will actually ask for the prescriptions when we go to pick up my glasses. Oops! Overall, we recommend Edwards eye care. Be aware that as of May 2025, there is construction out front to widen the road so pad your timing a little bit extra.
