So far we are loving this place. My final review will be when I order my glasses in January 2026. My bestie referred me here after almost 20 years going to an office in Compton where, I can swear, I was overpaying for all services. It just made no sense. I came here, they were very quick, sweet, and had lots of variety to choose from. They also had designer frames which I like. Dr. Buldavino was our eye doctor. She was so thorough and explained everything. I really like her. She helped me understand a lot of my eye issues. She made it so easy to learn. I definitely will be back. I paid my exact copay and I paid for the picture of my eyes (which was very competitive pricing) and for the lens copay. Everything was clean from the rooms to the frame where area to the restrooms. There is parking but it can get packed. The staff is nice. I was happy that I could communicate via text. I am quite happy to report, that this office is back to being on its A-game in my book! Clearly, this wasn't the same experience from 2 years ago (been back yearly since) and the office seems so much better; maybe it was a one off experience but glad that their management team truly goes above and beyond for their patients and reached out to discuss. From the moment you walk through the doors, you are greeted and treated with the respect you deserve. I do appreciate this office reaching out, asking questions, but most importantly fixing the issue. My family and I have been coming here for at least 20 years now. There is limited parking in the front and additional parking in the back. The parking lot has gotten busier in recent years. This place is always clean and tidy. They stock an assortment of glasses and sunglasses. I got my first pair of glasses here as a 3rd grader and my first contacts as a 7th grader. I've seen a few optometrists here over the years. Right now Dr. Otsuji, second generation owner, has the practice. He is great. Kind and answers all your questions. Robert typically helps me pick out lenses. He has lots of patience and great taste!! It can be difficult to pick out the right lenses. He has picked out some true winners over the years. This year I've been to the office way more than ever. Had to replace my lenses and frames under warranty. Even had nose pieces replaced. This is something I often forget about...warranty! But it make a huge difference in saving me some cash. Selections range from affordable to designer and extras do add up. But all my lenses have been very sturdy and last me a long time so in the long run you are getting your moneys worth. June is also very sweet. This is my second visit at vision center optometry with Dr. Kenzo Otsuji- he is THE best. Not only is he very thorough, he was patient in answering all my questions. Normally when I get my eye examined, I feel rushed. I'm so glad I found Dr. Kenzo Otsuji. Him and his staff made me feel safe and comfortable from the moment I walked through the door. There is parking in the back and some in the front. The office is doing everything possible to insure the safety of the patients. They checked everyone's temperature and provide hand sanitizer once you walk to the reception area. They even checked my 4yo son! The waiting area is spaced out and everything gets wiped down. Great customer service!!! I've been coming here for some time along with my husband and children. They are definitely organized, which is appreciated for a big family. The doctor is great. When my kids were really little, he did a great job of making them feel comfortable. He he always explain things to them. My husband was in complete denial and didn't think he needed glasses, and was even stubborn about wearing them. The doctor explained it to him in a way, where he just wore the glasses as he needed. His staff is great and knowledgeable. They have always been super friendly, and helpful. Whether it be with warranty support, adjustments, recommendations, they just take care for you. I came in to have the lenses swapped out of my sunglasses, I hadn't been in a while because I had a car accident and required eye surgery but I still bring the family, I also just got busy with work. Optometrist is this lovely doctor and his assistants are extremely sweet and informative, I'll never leave this place ! On my first eye exam I had Robert helping me choosing my frames & we picked a pair of Gucci which have lasted & has not one scratch on them (sadly Gucci stopped making frames). This time around I was looking for something new as I'm in a hunt for a different look and Rudi was helpful with picking my frames, Tom Ford & I love them!! Doctor Crum is pretty awesome. =) I was looking for an optometrist close to home, and I'm so glad I found this place. The office is clean, spacious, and the staff is friendly and helpful. It was a breeze to book my first appointment, and Dr. Crum was randomly chosen for me. There are also two other optometrists that work here, and they switch off depending on the day you visit. I was switching from RGP contacts to soft contacts, so I needed an eye exam and contact lenses fittings and also follow up appointments. Dr. Crum was always patient and answered my questions. I never felt rushed. What I love is that I felt like he was teaching me about my eyes. How everything worked and how to keep them healthy. He generously offered me a wide variety of contact samples and said I could always come back for more if I ran out. He also let me know if I ever had any problems, i could always come back for a follow up at anytime. Dr. Crum only works part-time here. So he is only in a few days a week. If he isn't available at the time you want, the staff will schedule you with the Dr. Otsuji, who owns the office. The office is open Monday through Saturdays. With Saturdays being only open till 2pm. Parking is really limited in front of the office, but there is ample parking at the Walgreens next door so you can park there and take a short walk over! read more

I was in the Whittier area when I realized my insurance benefits were going to expire, my prescription had changed so I wanted new glasses but I wasn't going to be home before the end of the month. I looked up places that took my insurance and landed on Vision Center after a recommendation, it was also the nicest and cleanest office I've been to in a while. I walked in looking concerned because I was nervous to explain my situation and didn't know if they could do everything before my benefits were up. June was so understanding and saw to it that I was taken care of. I saw Dr. Ostuji who squeezed me in a last minute appointment and Rob made sure everything was ordered that afternoon. I'm Ray-Ban loyalist and thankfully they have a wide assortment of RBs, I even found one that was flattering on my face (not an easy task)! I explained I wouldn't be able to pick it up and without hesitation they arranged to have it mailed to me in Nor Cal. Being an optometry center I'm sure they get this all the time but I was surprised how I was still treated like a loyal customer. Everyone was so accommodating to my situation, from start to finish I'm really enjoyed everything about Vision center optometry. I've been coming to Vision Center Optometry for the past few years. Dr. Otsuji and his staff are great! They are extremely polite and professional. The office is located in a small center next to Walgreens and across the street from the Walmart Supercenter shopping plaza. Parking can be a little tricky here, especially on Saturdays. If you cannot find parking in the small lot behind the office, park in the Walgreens parking lot. No worries, as they have parking arrangements with Walgreens - just be sure to park toward the back. If you decide to get a year's supply of contact lenses, you can get a pair of frames at a 50% discount which is what I usually do. They have a nice selection of frames including Gucci, Bebe, Dior, Ray-Ban, etc. Robert assisted me in picking out some frames; he is awesome! I'm extremely slow and picky and end up trying a bunch of frames on, but Robert is super patient and recommends frames that fit best with your face shape. During my visit last month, I wanted to get some frames that were a little more stylish/fashionable (I usually go with the "conservative" frames) and he helped me select a pair of Gucci frames. I've received many compliments. Also, the contact lenses are ready for pick up within a couple of days. I'm always satisfied with my experience at Vision Center Optometry and highly recommend them! read more

POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE...if I could give them a Zero for star rating... I would. I'm so disappointed this time around with my eye exam, I was told that my insurance only cover eye exam and no materials cost. It would only be $15.00 with my current insurance plan. I've been a loyal customer of 6 years and today I was misled with the services and charges. They said it didn't cover the eye contact exam, that it would be additional charges for contact eye exam, after services were render. It was very clear to me by June the front office Clark, for today's visit would be $15.00. I signed the form with eye contact exam indicated. Dr. Kenzo S. Otsuji, O.D. refuse to issue me the contact lens prescription, unless I paid him the contact eye exam. Which he didn't even disclose the amount. They lost me and my whole family, I will never step a foot in this establishment. It's the principle not the money, that they did not disclose the total amount for the services. Be careful get full price and explanation, before you get your eye exam. They must be desperate for cash not for customers , they don't see the full picture... CUSTOMERS CREATED BUSINESS!! read more

Love this place. Perfect vision faded. Now that I'm getting older my vision is going slowly. It was my first time getting glasses and I was able to get some great service who was able to get a great name brand frame. Dr Otsuji OD was great. He was professional direct and I felt very comfortable going through all those eye tests for the first time. I love that they were patient with me when I was confused about which frame to get. My face is larger than most so I really didn't think I would have something that would fit but they can mold the frame to match. Now the biggest issue for me is to remember to use and bring my glasses. Will definitely be back. read more

They make sure to call to verify your appointment at least the day before, and also schedules your appointment the day of your check-up for the next year. 5 stars all the way! I have been coming here with my wife for years and every visit has been great. Appointments starting on time, great frame selection, and outstanding customer service. Let me break it down, 1) I have worn many different brands of contacts over the years and I thought I was doomed to having dried out eyes for the rest of my life until I came here and Dr. Otsuji asked what I was wearing then recommended a new brand to me. Boy what a difference! No more dry eyes! I liked them so much I told my wife about them and now she wears the same brand too (Dailies Total - the Rolls Royce of contacts). 2) I was looking for a pair of prescription sunglasses that I could wear while cycling and had no clue what frames to get. Enter Robert, this guy is a glass frame recommending genius, nuff said. I liked the frames so much I ended up getting a 2nd pair of the exact same frame with non-tinted lenses for night time riding. I can honestly say the quality of my life has improved after coming here. I find that rare to say about a business so 5 stars it is. Thanks for the years of great service! P.S. My review is way overdue. Dr. Crum started this office over 30 years ago when it was located in the Sears basement. He's since retired, but the same level of customer service is what has me returning year after year. Even when I live in Azusa. The staff in this office are amazing. Don't waste your time, the office is placed in an extremely dirty and ghetto shopping center and they fail to notify you of their absolutely ridiculous parking situation and when you can't find somewhere to park they are no help either, they tell you to park at Walgreens but there's clear signs that you can't park there. I parked on the residential street and when I asked if that was alright she simply stated "don't know" really? I took my time off work and busy schedule and you can't even tell me where to park to pay YOUR business money? Well too bad you lost another customer there should be more respect for people's time and at least get your information together. I called about 5 times before I got a hold of someone, and this was like two days that they finally answered. I let them know my eye had been irritated for two weeks and I wanted to come in. The girl was nice and sweet, she took my name and birthday down and said that she needs to check their system for my insurance and then I wanted 10-15 mins for another girl to answer and repeated the same thing the girl did. I told her I was on hold because they were going to get back to me to see if my insurance covers it. She said she can't look up my information without my card id number form my insurance and keep in my I had already told her coworker that I had lost my wallet but if my insurance didn't cover it I can still pay out fo pocket. This other girl said they couldn't look it up, so I would have to come in and just Pay of pocket without even trying to check for my insurance. Guys, I've worked in a medical office before. THis place really made me feel uncomfortable and not welcomed. These 2 stars go for the friendly receptionist who gave me forms to fill out. I used to have a different insurance until I lost it. I came to this place bcus it's very close to my home. I had my first eye exam by a younger gentleman I believe his name is Dr. Kenzo Otsuji. At least that's what my RX form shows. I'm part of the healthcare industry and I can tell the difference between a patient who has PPO insurance to a patient who has medical under some type of plan. I have medical and I know some medical patients are complicated to work with. But, I felt that since I'm Medi-Cal my visit really didn't matter. The doctor was blah and short in answers. Once I was done with my exam. He lead me to a gentleman to show me glasses. This gentleman automatically took me to the $35 glasses section. Left me there and said if I need anything to let me know. I guess they thought I couldn't afford to pay for brand names glasses since I have medical. If that was the case I could of asked for a copy of my prescription and order glasses through Zenni Optical their glasses start at $12. First and last time I come here. After checking with Yelp, I made an appt. online with Dr. Crum's office. Their website is friendly and works great. Printed out forms after making the appt., and received a confirmation a day before the appt. The staff was busy but friendly as I walked around looking at their eyeglass selection. Dr. Crum's assistant was very friendly and informative as to what tests were being done on my eyes. During my visit with Dr. Crum, he was super informative and let me know exactly what each procedure was meant for and how my eyes were reacting, and why they were reacting.
