She was exceptionally thorough with her exam and went above and beyond with her patience in testing my vision and offering solutions for my dry eyes. I had cataract surgery which went well. Every follow up appointment had me waiting longer and longer. Today I had a 2 pm appointment and was told I would have to wait 2 to 3 hours to see Dr. Herman. I told the assistant that it very unbusiness like and borders on the ridiculous. She said no matter what time your appointment is for you will wait 2 to 3 hours. I told her not to call me in for an appointment unless I can see some one within 15 minutes. They have software that can help schedule patients. It's not rocket science! I'll probably find another laser surgery in Dallas. There are plenty of them. I don't recommend Vision Quest unless you have days of time to wait around. read more

Highly recommend Vision Quest. I never write reviews. Had a vision issue on a Friday after 5pm. Left a voice msg and was promptly contacted by Erica. She was able to set an appointment herself for me to see Dr. Herman the following Monday. Excellent after-hours customer service. She was extremely knowledgeable and caring. I've been a patient for over 6 years and consider Dr. Herman not only a MD but a true scientist in his field. Bring a book, expect to wait. read more

I was referred to this practice from my optometrist to be seen about a painful double eye infection that was not responding to treatment. So imagine my surprise when I was still in the waiting room 2 hours after my appointment time. I inquired at the desk as to when I would be seen and was told..."most patients wait at least 3-4 hours here". This is an unacceptable way to do business and I'm tired of doctors thinking this is ok. Dr. Patel is great! Staff need more customers service training. Very unprofessional and not friendly. Wait time long...1st post op waited 4 hours to be seen. Staff lost my FMLA documents twice. They show no sympathy and upset when I showed up to inquire about my documents. Office manager was unprofessional and rude loud tone and with attitude told me" we are not stopping clinic to complete documents " in waiting area. Documents where left to be completed on 06/05 and no where to be found. Once again Dr. Patel is great! Need to provide ODT training for staff. I wish I could get a set of stars to the administrative staff (2 stars) and a different set of stars to the Doctor and techs (4 stars). I'll start with the positive. I was referred to Dr. Herman and was happy to see him. He is very professional and thorough and answers your questions well and really wants to make sure you understand what is going on with your eye. In my case a cataract. The techs who preformed the test were also very skilled and friendly and though everything took a long time (I had at least 7 different eye test) I felt like I was in good hands. Looking back I wish I had asked more about why we needed so many test, because I feel it was a little overboard. As far as the front desk staff, I don't have much good to say about them. They were disorganized and not helpful. The woman who checked me in was new so I can give her a pass, she was learning. However, the woman who checked me out said she would make my referral appointment the next day and call me. She not only didn't call me when I called them to find out what was going on they acted like they had no idea I they were suppose to make me an appointment with another doctor (I actually have to see 2 other Doctors be fore I have surgery) and flat out refused to call the second doctor until she had set up the appointment with the first one, because she "was doing a lot right then". What the crap? I can't move forward with treatment until I see these other Doctors and they didn't care to help me with that at all. Over all very frustrating and though I liked Dr. Herman VERY much it makes me think I maybe should look to another office of my surgery. **Bottom line:** You have to keep on top of the admins to make sure they do their job and you should ask a lot of questions as to why the techs do want they do to make sure it is necessary. read more

No matter when your appointment is and how early, on time, or late you are, you will WAIT! They will move older patients ahead of you which in some cases it's understandable. They don't communicate well with patients or each other. Make sure you know how much your visit will cost before you go. They have to code your chart and call your insurance before you see your dr. They can and will hit you with an up charge. The doctors are pretty nice and are good, it's the staff you will deal with. Especially starting with ladies at the front desk. Sometimes they are nice but most of the time they are unpleasant. read more

Prepare to WAIT. This practice has zero interest in how their patients fee. It is completely disrespectful to make people wait 3 hours every time they go to see Dr Herman. He put a MULTIFOCAL lens in my eyes, and I now have to wear reading glasses ALL the time. I would look for another DR if you are considering using this DR or practice. We like Dr. Herman and his staff. Everyone there is friendly, professional and efficient. Yes, we had to wait a little while, but it was worth it. I felt like they were very thorough in their tests and cared about the outcome. He explains things with real photos on a big screen so we could see what he was talking about. I was informed by my optometrist that I was developing cataracts and that they should be removed and he recommend Eye Vision and Dr. Herman. My wife had the same procedures at Key Whitman and she encouraged me to use Key Whitman as she had great success. This review is about my personal use of Eye Vision and is neither an endorsement nor negative review of the services provided. It is posted in the hope that a reviewer will get some valuable use out of my experience. First one must make an appointment or in my case I had a referral from my optometrist. My wife and I discussed the procedures and cost with Dr. Herman who was very thorough with most of his discussions. I elected to go with the cataract removal and the most expensive lens implant. Deciding on a lens implant is difficult to do if you are like me and know very little about the lens, the procedure to insert the lens or the expected results. Thus I would encourage anyone contemplating a lens implant to do research and lots of research to see what previous results have been. Contact other patients and perhaps even other doctors. Don't be quick to make a decision as this is a procedure that will have significant impacts on your life, not just your sight. Make absolutely certain your understand the scope of the procedures. What will be done, what the recovery time will be, what the final results may be and the cost? Once you have decided upon the procedure and the lens make absolutely certain you understand the cost. Not just for the procedure, but also for possible follow-ups and for possible other charges that may be imposed later. Then check to see if Medicare (if applicable) pays any of the charges and then find out what your insurance will pay. DO NOT depend upon what you are told at the office and some of these girls have absolutely no idea. I personally had to call my insurance company twice to get issues squared away as to coverage and cost. The day of the surgery you will wait and perhaps wait a little more as this is a very busy clinic. Then a young girl will came out to ask for your credit card. Don't be offended as she does this with all patients that we saw. The staff in the surgery area I found to be very nice and professional. The surgery was without pain and done very quickly. I was out of the clinic in a very short period. By the way the clinic area was very clean as it should be. You will more than likely have prescriptions that will be very expensive. I returned a few days later for a check up and to have the procedure done on the other eye. Everything went as planned. There were other procedures that would have to be done later and there was some misunderstanding concerning what had been included in the original cost. This was sorted out after a meeting with Dr. Herman. I had this surgery one year ago and what are the results. First let ne say that I was told that every person's results might be different. There are no standard results. Some may eventually return to 20/20 vision while other may have to have some adjustments by having to wear glasses. In my case I have very good vision in my right eye however the left eye required that I revisit the clinic several times for the eye doctor to evaluate my progress. Today, one year later, I have great vision for the distance and with adequate lighting can read quite well. Using the computer requires that I wear glasses as that distance is just beyond my sight for reading. I have difficulty driving at night as the lights produce a halo that is annoying. I discussed this with my doctor at the clinic and was given some drops to use. The drops work fairly well but gave be a terrific headache and I cannot use them. Discussed this with my optometrist and he prescribed some glasses that should help. Just got the new glasses and they do not help at all with the halos. After doing extensive research it appears this is something that happens to a lot of patients and something you have to learn to live with mostly by not driving at nighttime. I just wanted to share my experience as I wished someone had done this with me before I started the process. read more

This place is the best in Dallas. I was on the fence about getting PRK done but they gave me all the information I needed and helped me along the way. Expect to wait a while when you go to an appointment but it is totally worth it. I went from glasses and contacts to now seeing 20/20 perfectly. It's amazing. I was referred to Dr. Herman by my optometrist for cataract surgery. I was well informed by Dr. Herman's staff about what to expect time wise and cost. His staff are very nice and efficient. On the day of my first surgery I was very pleased with the efficiency of the whole process and most of all- surgery was a snap! No pain at all:) The second surgery was just as easy. While I would very much like to give a good review, my experience has not been what I expected. In November last year I saw Dr. Herman regarding cataract surgery. He was very knowledgeable & I was offered several choices. I decided to choose one that would also do some vision correction as well. It did not provide adequate correction and it was then recommended that I have PRK surgery to correct the astigmatism and need for glasses. After the PRK I was left with worse vision which did not improve enough to drive, watch tv, read or sew. After 4 months I asked the OD for an eyeglass prescription so I could at least drive. One of the techs told me I had a refractive error. When I questioned why my sight was not improving the OD was very vague and seemed to avoid my concern. She provided me with a prescription for driving glasses but told me not to wear them all the time so my eyes could continue improving. While the prescription was not perfect it did help enough to drive and watch tv. I was told to come back at the 6 month mark to have my eyes examined again but was informed I would have to pay for the visit since it was not within the PRK window. As that time neared and my vision still had not improved at all I decided to go back to my original eye doctor and get my eyes examined. He gave me a completely different prescription to correct the astigmatism which now allows me to see clearly with glasses. The corrections promised did not occur with the PRK or the original surgery. I just had no more money that I could spend with Vision Quest. If I had it to do all over again I would have gotten just the basic cataract surgery and forgone the upselling that occurred with the promise of great vision with no glasses. This year has been a huge challenge with my vision while I tried to continue to work. My original complaint was the difficulty seeing at night due to cataracts. The PRK erased any benefit I gained for night driving because of the bad vision and halo effect. I am kind of at a loss as to what I should have done differently, since Vision Quest came to me highly recommended and on my visits I was pleased with the care that I got from most of the staff, except for my conversations with the OD which were not very reassuring. read more

Not enough positive words exist for me to express the depth of my respect, appreciation, gratitude and confidence in the expertise of Dr. Herman and his staff. Dr. Herman is truly gifted, unpretentious and caring. The skills and care he brings to his work and the patient are incomparable. He did my lasik surgery and later my cataract surgery. I had severe near sightedness and astigmatism. I mean my vision could not be measured in a number over a number. I required coke bottle thick glasses even with the most expensive light weight quality lenses. Dr. Herman had to do two separate lasiks surgeries about 6 months apart allowing for healing time before doing the 2nd. His precision gave me 20/20 vision and I cried in his chair because being able to be normal and to see normaly was like being touched by God. Five years later he did my cataract surgery, again with great success. Any inconvenience or waiting for his care was more than worth it. Sadly, I had to move out of state and now live in Virginia. I have had 3 different opthamologists tell me that it was a rare physician who would have even undertaken such a degree of correction. The results remain successful and beautiful today, leaving the 3 opthamologists truly in awe. Frankly, I haven't been able to find anyone who truly knows their stuff like Vision Quest doctors do. read more
