I called to schedule an eye exam & was pleased that I could make an appointment 2 weeks out. I had an appointment with Dr. Riggs. The new space is beautiful with plenty of parking. The support staff and Dr. Riggs were excellent. I was in and out in less than 30 minutes. My husband and I returned on Friday afternoon to pick out our frames. Kelsey assisted us with picking out frames and making sure we got the best option for our insurance. Kelsey was friendly, honest and thorough during our interaction. The options of frames is a bit overwhelming but I loved having all the options. We had no problems picking out options that we liked. I appreciated Kelsey being honest with making the final decision. Thank you Dr. Riggs, Kelsey & the entire VisionFirst staff for a great experience. Can't wait to pick up our glasses in a few weeks. read more

We have been taking my daughter to this location for the past 3+ years, she is now 7. Miranda has always been kind and thoughtful to us when purchasing glasses and fitting them, she remembers us from our previous visits (which are a year apart) and is always kind and patient with her as well as informative with me, as a mom who is not as knowledgeable of vision or glasses. Dr. Lannon didn't tell me my vision had changed as reflected on the prescription. I feel I was owed some explanation since I improved the year before also how much wasn't mentioned. I was told a boldface lie about the hard case I asked for with my glasses. She, the optometrist informed me rudely I had to take what I got when I went to pick up the glasses, after paying of course. I was given no polishing cloth as usual with my glasses either. The case I got was flimsy and cheap, but the frames I paid for were very expensive. The doctor was great but the staff you deal with when you go back to get your new glasses are not good. My new glasses had a stripped out screw on one side and the arm would not stay open but she said it would not matter and tried to get me to keep it! when I said no she went to the wall and picked a pair and said she would put my lenses in them, a pair I did not choose! she was snippy and rude. DO NOT GO TO POPLAR LEVEL LOCATION!!!! Especially if you have Medicaid. The only reason I could think that clerk did not do her job, because of her attitude when I asked a question about eye glass area and frames. The entire team in the eye glass area needs training. Check your waiting rooms before you take your breaks, ensure everyone has been seen. Or fire your clerks to busy chatting then to pay attention to patients, some like me who have not had an eye exam since before Covid. Not what I needed and very upset. Eye exam was fine, but after was told to wait an extremely cold waiting room because they were busy with patients before me. I follow receptionist instructions and waited in the room. After a half an hour I noticed that patients that came in after me were seen, even those that walked in with no appointment came in and were seen. Why was no one calling on me. I still thought I should wait because perhaps they were working on my file or something. Then I saw more people come in just for glass adjustments. They went straight to the fitting area. Again, passed up. So, I went to the front desk. Reason I was not called on? The girl that was too busy chatting with coworkers and playing with her hair had never put me on list to be seen. Having now waited an hour I was told I could be help after next person so basically told to wait till after 5. My appointment was 3. I was even there early. I left heated, upset, this is the treatment you get on Medicaid. They could care less because to them you are less. Caught manager outside building asked him why this happened. All he could do is apologize. He has apparently only been new manager for a few days. I never got glasses and left. Now will have to wait a while year to get another exam and glasses stuck with Target readers and my vision will suffer cause a millennial receptionist can't do her job. If she wants to socialize, she should march herself down to a Starbucks job, the chat all the time there, she will fit right in. read more

I've changed my former review to one at this point. Either the pandemic ate them alive or something is seriously wrong there. They used to be a good office that I had respect for, and I will say that Rachel M in frames and sales is amazing, she totally gets it and has it all together, but unfortunately there is only one of her and she's stuck in a sea of ostriches with their heads in the sand. From having to take off work *twice* when the teenage front desk mouse was too clueless to find our insurance, subsequently canceling my appointment, forcing me to take another day of UNPAID time off and wait even longer to finally be seen. To the nasty stick-her-chest-out-and sashay throughout the office like a Vegas showgirl while being rude to my husband during his frame appointment, which actually cost them a second pair of frames and lenses thanks to lying to me. To the OP tech-wanna-be-brain-surgeon who botched the heck out of my husbands Rx, then blamed 'his brain' over and over for the fact they're not right, but failed to realize or address the fact the Rx wasn't working properly *even in his correctable eye* but that his mangled $13 readers from Walgreens were working far better, was just waaay too much. To my optometrist (yes same office) expecting to charge us $35 to recheck the botched op tech Rx since SHE wasn't paid for the original appointment (is this not a practice but booths of individual providers?) all of which caused me to show them the forest for the trees by canceling $1500 worth of services and optical. How YOU doin? Upshot: Don't go there. FYI - We bought two $5 pair of pretty nice readers at Lowes, one in 2.0 magnification and the other in 3.5. My husband popped out the lenses and reconfigured it for his 'good eye' and his 'dead eye' (which isn't actually dead thankyouverymuch) and for $10 he has workable glasses that greatly *GREATLY* exceeded the $1000 pair of glasses the Tech-wanna-be-brain-surgeon tried to sell him. Just an idea to save yourself a TON of time, money and aggravation at the fake doctors office. I hope treating us like this was worth it to them. I don't know why any office would treat any patient in this manner, unless they're simply discriminating against him because he's Latino. read more

A great experience, so far. Went for an exam to get a new contact lens prescription. As a new patient, who also met with an optician regarding ordering glasses (for back up purposes) and ordering contacts, I was there for just an hour. The man helping me with lens and frame ordering, Brent, took his time making sure he understood what my insurance would cover and how to get the best deal on lenses. Everyone was personable, the doctor was friendly and took my preferences for brand and needs into consideration (instead of just making a decision about what kind of lenses/exam I would want). I had my annual eye exam with Dr. Rollo a couple of weeks ago. I currently have cataracts that are not ready for removal and Dr Rollo is so informative and helpful when it comes to answering questions and explaining how the eye functions with the cataracts. They have the most updated equipment that allows the Dr to see so much of the eye and be able to compare differences from year to year. I had a 2 pm appointment and I arrived at promptly 2. I filled out paperwork, had the preliminary eye exam by the tech who used three separate machines to take pictures of my eyes. Then put in a waiting room where Dr Rollo literally followed me in the room, did his exam, answered questions and I was back in my car at 2:22 pm. It was amazing. There is plenty of on site parking. The facility is open and clean and the staff are all very polite and helpful. Because of my cataracts Dr Rollo indicated although I have a slight change in my vision that changing my prescription would really not benefit me. So no pressure for me to buy glasses that really won't help me at this time. Great service and glass selection. read more

I got duped, I share in the responsibility.Their eye wear sales individuals are not honest and are sneaky, they are money first and good and honest advice second. They do not explain things properly. I had a great experience here at Vision First on Poplar Level Road. I started out at Dixie but ended up having to come to this location for help. I am VERY glad I did. Two ladies and the front desk were very helpful and could have turned me away but didn't. Instead they went above and beyond! Ms. Loral even helped me understand my paperwork and gave me some helpful tips to deal with allergies in my left eye. It may seem extremely small but she truly made my day and probably has no idea! I've been going to Vision First for at least 10-15 years now. They are friendly and efficient. My doctor, Dr Minton is a kind and good doctor. I've never had any complaints. I've gotten contacts, glasses and sunglasses here for years. Now that I've had LASIK that's all a thing of the past for now. However, I still go for vision checks and a special test because of a medication I'm on. I don't understand people who go to the National chains, especially when this place has extended hours too. Part of my experience here was a 4 star experience, another part was not so great, so I am meeting them in the middle with a 3. The eye exam portion was really good. Check in was fast and the initial eye technician was friendly and speedy with her portion of the exam. My eye doctor was also great. She explained everything she was seeing in my eyes and I left the exam feeling confident that my new perscription would work great. Whenit came to picking frames, I wasn't thrilled. Their selection is small and mainly designer and therefore more expensive. I was able to find a pair I liked, but I usually shop for lenses on my own. And the person who would be helping purchase them was following me and making suggestions based on one aspect I said I tend to like. I continually said I look at lenses by myself (If I need help I would send a picture to a friend or sister not a stranger). I will go back for eye exams, but I may not buy my frames here. read more

The doctors and assistants are excellent. The exam portion of the visit went well-timely, expert care, very polite. However, their eyeglass "sales people" are not on par with the rest of the staff. The associate that worked with me didn't listen to what styles I like and made passive aggressive comments about my small nose. Their frame selection is limited, but the contact lens are affordable. If you're thinking that you're to in and out quickly simply to pick up your contact lenses, think again. I waited for 30 minutes just for them to hand me two boxes. I paid for them when I ordered them, so it's not like it needed to be and extended transaction. read more

Dr. Rallo saved the vision in my right eye. Didn't even know I had a problem until he discovered it. He's the very best by far.

I have been seeing Dr Rallo or his other associates for over 30 years now. Although my preference has been to see Rod, I have always been impressed with the other doctors. The reception staff was extremely friendly and polite. They were also adhering to Covid19 regulations. I saw Dr Hammond who came up with a game plan on dealing with my particular situation and the staff made an appointment for me with the retina specialist. Dr Hammond was able to give me a sample of drops to use to avoid having a prescription filled (and additional money). He was patient with me in explaining the next steps to resolve my issue. I kept going to the Hurstborne location for years, even though it was inconvenient, because I liked my doctor. However, I was very pleased to find I like the doctors and staff just as well at this location. I also found that they are better stocked and have a better turnaround on orders. not very good the workers are ok, its just management is bad, Had a problem with the parking lot damaging my car. They refused to pay saying its the cities fault. But then black topped the drive way but hey now i have a car thats messed up. Other then that the waiting time is prett bad we was waiting for 2 hours or more. Finding the right glasses and prescription for me to see clearly without headaches and eye strain proved to be a challenge. Partly because I was having a difficult time admitting that I needed glasses and partly because of the type of work I do (constantly switching form close up computer work to far away non computer work). But the staff at VisionFirst persevered, after ensuring the prescription was correct, they encouraged me to try multiple styles and sizes of frames. When they did not have the ideal options in stock, they ordered frames for me to try on. They put up with me coming in multiple times a week for multiple weeks until we found the frames that I LOVE and that work for my vision needs. read more

The staff here are personable and friendly, and I like that. They call ahead and remind me of my appointments. My eye doctor sees me on Saturday mornings, which is a big help for this working girl, and I appreciate that he runs on schedule! Yes, he may run five or ten minutes behind, but that's it as far as the wait goes and that's great for me. I'm in and out! They have a private parking lot that is right at the door, so there is no walking in the rain and snow to get there, and there is a handicap ramp for those who need it. I had an outstanding experience and will never go to a different eye doctor. I had blunt force damage to the eye and called on a Friday evening right before they closed. They scheduled me for the first available appointment the next morning. I didn't have to wait when I arrived. Dr. Rallo was extremely clear and made sure I understood everything. He gave me several chances to ask questions and did not rush me out of the office. He is closely connected with the best specialists in the city and explained exactly how I would get in touch with him if my bruised sclera turned into a detached retina when their offices were closed. He also explained very clearly what symptoms I should look for which would indicate a worsening condition. After seeing him Saturday morning, he called me Sunday--when their office was closed--to check in and see how I was doing. I've never had any doctor take this type of care.
