I had a great first visit today with Dr. Sarah Manongdo-Joya and I will definitely send my husband and kids here, too! Dr. Manongdo-Joya is super friendly, patient, thorough, and very knowledgeable!! Her exam was excellent- very thorough! And I'm thrilled with my new prescription- she boosted my contact prescription and added a second prescription to my eyeglasses- I've graduated to progressives. I picked out a beautiful pair of Lacoste frames and can't wait to get my new glasses! I was surprised to hear they would be ready so soon. Like 2 weeks! And at a really good price- about $200 less then I paid for my last pair, 5 years ago. The manager AJ and the vision tech Alex were also so friendly and professional today. The shop is super clean and there were so many choices of cute, modern frames, some as low as $69. I was their first of the day today and was in and out in just under an hour. Free parking. You throwing numbers at me but not without explaining that's with my insurance !so I had made an appointment with Pearl vision I canceled it and made one with vision works and I told my Insurance was hold because I had a appointment with pearl vision fine no big deal. She said she will call my insurance cool what got me upset was she started talking how much it would be without mentioning that's with my insurance what I would have to pay that my insurance doesn't cover. So I said no I don't want to pay that's why I have insurance because I'm thinking she telling what I would pay because my insurance is lock. She said your not understanding me. And I said well you didn't mention that part that that's what was with my insurance and that's when she rolled her eyes. I didn't yell at her. I didn't say it with a nasty attitude. I was just like confused like this is once a year an appointment. She wasn't being clear about information and her coworker was no help when I came in the girl that rolled her eyes at me was on the phone that's fine. My sister had the absolute worst experience at Vision Works. She sent out her Prada frames (worth of $530) for prescription lenses (worth of $230), and they completely LOST them. According to them they are not responsive for the frames after they sent them out, however when she asked for proof that the frames did in fact get sent out in the first place they weren't able to give me or show me proof. She was told they can only show her a picture of the frame along with other pairs of glasses being shipped out but no actual tracking number or anything. I don't know but for a big company I find it hard to believe they can't track items. We believe someone from their staff stole them, I don't believe they sent the frame out in the first place. To make matters worse, the staff seemed completely uninterested in resolving the issue. Staff is rude and dismissive. Their only solution was to refund my sister what she paid for prescription lenses. This experience has completely soured my opinion of Vision Works. Not only did they lose a pair of designer glasses, but the way they handled the situation was a disgrace. I will never return to this store, and I strongly advise others to avoid it as well. read more

I scheduled an appointment for my 7-year-old daughter and me online. I completed the health questionnaire for both of us. The morning of the appointment I received a phone call stating my daughter's appointment had been canceled and I needed to reschedule. I asked why it was canceled and the young woman stated she didn't confirm the appointment. Note that I was never prompted to confirm or either of us. So I rescheduled online again. I make it to my appointment and confirm my name and my daughter's. The receptionist sitting next to the woman confirming my appointment starts speaking Spanish to her coworker and says oh I thought we canceled that appointment to make room for your cousin. Lucky for her I speak Spanish. my visit was rushed and not welcoming at all. Oh yeah, when I was leaving I saw this same person giving her cousin an eye exam at the original time I scheduled for my daughter. I recorded this entire ordeal and have filed a complaint with the BBB. I do not recommend it. read more

I had my eye exam and picked out my glasses, Visionworks sent me an email stating they were ready for pickup, after arriving home I just couldn't get use to the thickness of the lens so I took them back and got the thinner lens, after two weeks they came back, took them home again, I just didn't like them at all, I went back to Visionworks and picked out a new pair of glasses, I love the fact that you can get a refund or exchange your glasses before 100 days have passed, this gives you time to decide to keep them or have any adjustments made or get a totally new pair. I had a contacts exam on New Year's day with Dr. Sarah Manongdo-Joya, and returned a fee weeks later to be dilated. The front staff, vision staff, and doctor were so friendly and great to work with! The website was easy to navigate and schedule on! I maxed out my insurance benefits because the optician actually spent time reviewing and explaining why benefits to me. I had my exam by Dr. Joya this past January and she was super friendly. I purchased glasses that I am happy with. At the end of April I took the glasses to another store chain to have them adjusted and they cracked my lenses! This was in the same day as my family photos and needless to say, I was freaking out. I ran into Visionworks on a busy Saturday and Vivian and Renee were able to help quickly and give me a pair of contacts for the family photos. The store manager, Maria, helped me save money by allowing me to purchase the warranty. My glasses were repaired and back to me within a week. When I came to pick them up, Dr. Joya even came out to 'help' my toddler select her frames. Overall great experience and helpful, friendly staff! read more

The opthalmologist was very knowledgeable and encouraged for patient to ask questions. only negative was the sales girl. she was very impatient and didn't discuss all available lens/frame options. if I didn't happen to notice a small sign I would of never known there were better options I can choose from. read more

From the minute we were checked in to bring checked out the entire process was super easy and everyone was friendly. My daughter came in to get a second opinion from Dr. Sarah Manongdo-Joya and I could not be more pleased. She has been wearing glasses since she was 4 and for the first time in 3 years someone took the time to explain what she was doing and how all the the different things were helping them to get a better picture of her eye sight. I was previously a patient of Dr. Sara Joya at a different practice and was really excited when I found out she would be working closer to where I live! Last month I took my daughter, who was pretty apprehensive about going to the doctor, to take advantage of the $19 exam. Dr. Joya immediately put her at ease with her friendly personality and had her giggling in no time. The exam was trauma free. The tech who did the pretesting was super patient with her (those puffs of air are no joke!) and the front staff were very friendly! Luckily she doesn't need glasses yet but I will be back when it's time for my annual check up and new glasses. read more

It's an optometrist in a mall, don't expect too much. As soon as I saw three people in the waiting room I felt like it was going to be a miserable experience. I asked the clerk if this was one of those deals where they schedule 5 people at the same time to see one doctor. She sheepishly admitted it was true but said it would go fast. She was right. I really didn't wait too long to be seen and then to cash out. The doctor was cool and friendly. He gave me a free pair of contacts and let me bypass the follow up visit since I've been wearing contacts for 28 years. He also gave me my prescription without grief. The clerk tried to match the price I got on line elsewhere but couldn't. I appreciate her trying. Helpful hint: do not sign the consent for a $40 follow up contact lens visit! This is mainly for newbies. Also find a better price for contacts on line and see if they can beat it. They are willing to price match. read more

I had such a great experience at VisionWorks for my families exams this year! I was a bit skeptical because of the more affordable prices than what I am used to....but Dr. Joya was amazing! She has genuine love for what she does and made our visit so enjoyable. This is the second time I've seen Dr. Valeria Castro, and both times she was extraordinarily helpful, competent, thorough, and very engaged with me as a person and a patient. The entire staff there were very helpful and efficient, and you can't beat the current eye exam price of only $19.00! I didn't have to wait to be seen even though I arrived early for my appointment. I've been wearing contacts for almost two decades, seen optometrists all over the country, and my visit here left a lot to be desired. I filled out the paperwork for my appointment online in advance, as instructed, only to have an employee repeat the entire process. I reported experiencing dry eyes, which the optometrist did not acknowledge which makes me think she never read my paperwork. She did not review the results of any of the tests that were done, and did not talk with me at all about what she would be prescribing. I left the appointment feeling uneasy. When I went to pick up my contacts, I was given far fewer than I typically get (I have worn dailies for probably ten years and nobody I have seen has ever prescribed anything different, especially because they've taken the time to discuss this with me). I asked the customer service employee what exactly was prescribed, she gave me a wrong answer and had to get help. I was told I had been prescribed contacts that last for two weeks, unbeknownst to me. I explained this was not what I expected, and was told no problem, I could just make another appointment so the doctor could change the prescription. I didn't feel that was worth my time and left it alone. Overall, the staff seem young and very inexperienced, even if friendly, and I was very unimpressed with the lack of communication especially from the doctor. If you need something straightforward and cheap this is probably a place just for you, but if you have an issue that's not routine or you're looking for good customer service I wouldn't recommend. read more

We had a script for my 10 year old's glasses - just needed sports goggles and regular glasses. He has a hard to fit face and we had a terrible time trying to find glasses that fit at numerous independent shops. We also found experience severely lacking at many local places. I had heard that this Visionworks had excellent customer service but was a little hesitant to go to a chain place. Then we met JR, the experienced optician at Visionworks. He helped my son locate glasses that fit him properly and that my son loved. The selection was excellent. JR was experienced, knowledgable and professional. The buy one get one helped too! Free sports goggles with the same material and upgrades as the first pair. We will continue to buy glasses from Visionworks in the future. read more

Up until recently, I had been a faithful customer at this location. My daughter wears glasses so I took her here every year for the yearly exam and if she needed new glasses (pretty much all the time). Within the past two years, the service at this location has gone to hell in a hand basket. I have no idea why. One particular occasion, I was told on a Tuesday that my daughter's glasses would be repaired (it was simply a broken stem) and would be ready on Thursday at 5:30pm. The associate promised me that she would call me when the glasses were ready. I got a call on Wednesday afternoon stating that the glasses were ready for pickup. I immediately went to the mall and I was made to sit and wait for over 30 minutes. I finally demanded that someone assist me, and it was evident that they totally forgot that I was even there. Then it turned out that my daughter's glasses weren't even ready! In fact, to add insult to injury, no one had even sent out my daughter's glasses for repair! No one could explain why they weren't sent out for repair, or why someone would call and tell me to come in and pick them up. Needless to say, I was highly pissed. So it took them another 3 days to repair my daughter's glasses. My daughter's father took her to get an eye exam and to pick out a new pair of glasses. He was using his insurance (Blue Cross Blue Shield of IL PPO) and the associate helping him said that his insurance wasn't valid (it was). It turned into a big ordeal, and her dad had to pay out of pocket for the glasses and exam. He then had to fight it out with Blue Cross Blue Shield about it as Visionworks told him there was nothing they could do to reimburse him his money. Like an idiot, I had forgotten about this incident and brought my daughter in for a contact lens exam and contact lenses. Although we had an appointment, we still had to wait almost an hour to be seen for the exam. I presented her father's insurance card, and was told that the insurance wasn't valid (it was). Later on in the week I found out from Blue Cross Blue Shield that someone at Visionworks had tried to authorize benefits-and not on the day that we were in the store either. Something is definitely up with this place. My daughter and I decided that she would not be getting any contact lenses after all (she's only twelve and couldn't handle it). I had paid over $148 and Vision works would only refund me a small portion of my money. I was told that I would have to "take it up with your insurance carrier" (I had used my vision insurance). Once again, I was highly pissed. Had I just remembered what happened the last time my daughter was at Visionworks, maybe this wouldn't have happened to me. Nevertheless, I vowed never to return to this location and in fact, I have not only stayed away, but I took my business to Pearle Vision Center and I'm a happy camper! Stay away from this Visionworks unless you like to waste half of your life waiting to be seen DESPITE having an appointment, and being told your insurance is invalid just so they can get paid straight from your pocket, and you enjoy being lied to. I will never darken their doors ever again! read more

They got my measurements incorrect for bifocals and i came back two weeks later they helped me and did my measurements again and still have received my glasses and this was in march and came in to speak to the manager and he knew I was coming and he's not here. My husband and I went there to get a low cost eye exam and glasses. We wound up very disappointed all around. After 6 months my husband's glasses developed a bubble on the anti glare coating on the lens. They told him he'd have to pay to get the lens replaced and didn't offer to fix it. My glasses didn't fit well after several adjustments and I no longer wear them. We wound up paying more than we thought we would for glasses that are barely usable. When they called to ask us to come in for another exam, I explained the situation (again) and they said there were sorry and hoped that I had a good New Year. read more

There is no need to ever go to this place, when vision shops are a dime a dozen. My wife used to get good service here in the past, but on the last few visits, the staff were rude and the office was overcrowded and hectic. Based on her experience, I decided to try Bespoke Vision inside Costco, just down the street, and had a great experience. That's where I would recommend going. read more

Great customer service! Nefty And his team did a great job of helping me pick out some great looking frames and I was able to get them in a short amount of time. In my past with trying to get glasses, I have had issues with wrong orders and the wrong prescription at other optical retailers so I was happy that the team was able to get it right. If I could give Zero stars I would. Horrible experience. My first time going here for an eye exam I treated poorly and sent away by Dr. Alan Udesky. In my 20yrs of getting eye exams nobody ever asked me to bring my prescriptions from other eye doctors. He said he could not provide me with an exam without seeing my "baseline" and "I was wasting his time" yes exact words. And I should leave. The store manager JR Hernandez was apologetic and asked I come back to see another eye doctor so I did. The female doctor was nice, I brought a pack of my Bosch Lomb contacts that I loved and wore for last 10yrs. She prescribed another brand and told me that Bosch & Lomb was bought out and no longer supplied these contacts. SO I purchased the contacts she recommended but I disliked them compared to Bosch & Lomb. I found out that the Bosch & Lomb contacts are available online for cheaper and they did NOT discontinue. I tried to purchase them myself online through Costal contacts, but VisionWorks denied the prescription verification even though the prescription was the same just bio-medics v. bio infinity. They did this purposely so I am FORCED to buy contacts through them at $24 MORE per box with their preferred vendor. There customer service is poor and unprofessional means of doing business should be questioned. I've been trying to resolve this and the manager never seems to be in...how convenient. read more

I called all week for my trial pair of contacts, I specified that I needed the pair before my trip this weekend, and was guaranteed they would arrive well before then. Every time I called I was told they weren't there and that I would receive a text message or a call. Last night while I was shopping I went into the store to check on the lenses and of course they were in. But I couldn't try them on or take them home because I needed a Dr. present, who already went home. I wonder how long they've been sitting there and I didn't not receive the "call or text" now I have to travel without contacts to Miami. Very poor service, this is a overlooked problem that could have been fixed with a damn phone call. I receive texts confirming the appointment and to let me know my eye exam is overdue. Those young employees are playing on their cell phone when I got there. They should've been texting their customers. read more

This is a very pleasant place to shop for glasses. Everyone here are such hard workers. They are very personable and can tell they work as a team. When you walk in you will get greeted and acknowledged right away. Sometimes it is busy in there, but you can tell they really work their tail off to get to all the customers at a decent time. I would like to see that type of sense of urgency everywhere else. I will continue to go to Visionworks for contacts and glasses and I would recommend their service. I went back to them and ask how could they sell such defective frames. When I ask what they could do for me, the answer was absolutely nothing. Their customer service was horrible. I went in to get an eye exam and glasses, I left very disappointed. There was this one sales lady that wanted to hog all the customers and wouldn't let anyone else help so there was a huge wait. I don't know if they work on commission but the service was horrible. I left some glasses on hold and the next day I came back to purchase them I found that they never put aside the frames I had taken 2 hours to choose. I had to look for them over again. I got a second price this time again. Then they kept trying to sell me a different kind of glasses, when I asked to get just what the dr prescribed/recommended for my vision. When I came back to pick up my glasses they told me that they were not sure they were ready when that was the date of pickup they gave me. Finally they found them and a guy took over. They just asked me if I could see, and didn't answer any of my questions about them. I will never be going there again, they said it was a buy one get one free, but I ended up paying above 700, and this was even after picking 90 dollar frames, no name brand. Very disappointed and upset about that sales lady. read more
