I scheduled a 5:00 PM appointment at this location for my annual eye exam and to update the prescription in my own frames. I arrived at 4:40 and waited to be checked in. Despite having completed all paperwork online a few days in advance, no staff acknowledged me during this time. When I was eventually spoke with someone to be check in, I was brought back to see the optometrist. Who I overheard him stating to the other man, Lamont, that he would not be seeing any additional patients and could not complete the exam for another family who was already waiting. Concerned, I approached him to confirm my appointment. He informed me directly that he would not be seeing any more patients, including myself, even though my appointment was scheduled in advance. This experience was very disappointing and inconvenient, especially after arranging my schedule and traveling after work. If patients are allowed to book confirmed appointments, they should be honored. Otherwise, the scheduling system should be updated to reflect availability and prevent situations like this from occurring. Before driving off from the store I spoke with Lamont who communicated he was the supervisor at this location. He was amazing in trying to fix the situation but unfortunately another doctor on staff needs to be provided. read more

Visionworks does the trick for getting your vision checked and picking out frames. That said, the purchasing of frames is not required. They are well aware that some will take their prescription and have the contacts/frames purchased online. But (be warned) they charge much more for the exam itself if you do not want to get their contacts/frames. Because I'm the worst at buying my frames online I just went ahead and bought my glasses from them. I love them! They are totally my style and, the best part, flex spending covered it all...so yay. That said, it was still about $300 so ouch. Kinda the reason I hadn't gotten new glasses since 2017. Either way, if you are overdue for glasses and have some money to spend. My experience with this store has been great. The people who work here are very helpful and do a good job of assisting in the whole process of getting an eye exam, selecting frames and delivering the final glasses. I had a buy two pair for $59 coupon and the eye exam was another $50. I go two pair of computer glasses with astigmatism correction. When I got the pair I didn't feel like I could see a good as I wanted, so I got another eye exam and the prescription was adjusted. They remade the glasses with the new prescription and now they are perfect. How could I ask for a better experience. They did not charge me for remaking the glasses with the adjusted prescription. read more

I don't know where to begin. Visionworks is a prime example of why healthcare cannot and should not be commercialized. Visionworks gave me multiple incorrect CL and GL rx's. I have been suffering from headaches and blurry vision while wearing my rx and was brushed aside and was told it was "normal" when I mentioned this concern several times. I went to a reputable Optometrist for the first time and discovered that my prescription was incorrect (it turns out I do not have astigmatism). It was not just a correction of several points; Visionworks gave me the wrong lenses. I have wasted hundreds of dollars buying uncomfortable toric lenses and GL's that did not correct my vision. I have suffered for almost 2 years because of Visionworks' incompetence. The customer service here is a revolving door of employees. Visionworks messed up my rx order several times as well, leading to wasted time and a lot of frustration. Again, healthcare can't be successfully commercialized without tarnishing patient care. This was my first time going to any vision works and will be my last. When I first walked in they were not friendly. Did not welcome me, or anything. Then when she checked me in, it took forever to find me. She had a straight attitude. The customer service was just awful. Then I wanted to look for frames, just the attitude made me say I look somewhere else. I would not recommend this vision works to anyone. The only one that was nice was the doctor. read more

"First time experience with this company and last." Arrived at appt. on time. There was check-in problem finding my info. then HIPAA law is not reinforced. You're in a large open area full of customers and associates are asking for personal info. Opthamologist running behind and when I finally was called to the exam area. In the very beginning session this Opthamologist was moving extremely quick with already diagnosing me, which I was appalled. I went in for annual exam and reading glasses only. Now diagnosed for bifocals when driving etc. There was no full exam, but given an conclusion. I noticed my insurance co. ASAP. Very Very dissatisfied! read more

Absolutely my worst experience in "healthcare". I went to Visionworks for an eye exam because I have apparently reached the age where the state requires one to renew my license. No big deal, I wasn't having any issues, so go read some letters and be done. Nope. First part of the exam went fine, then we get to the eye chart, which is done by telehealth. Weird but ok. Then another telehealth screen for the doctor to review my results with me. Each telehealth portion had a 5-10 min wait, and I am sitting in their office the whole time. So the doctor finally gets on and says everything looks good, you're 20/20 both near and far blah blah blah...and I am recommending a small prescription for you. Wait what? A prescription for 20/20 vision? I tell the doctor not to waste his time, I won't be filling it, I just need him to sign off the form so I can renew my drivers license. Go to get checked out and there is a referral for another eye test in my paperwork. I ask what that is for, and wait for another 30 mins for the staff to figure out why I have a referral from the telehealth doctor. Turns out the doctor wants me to do a test I had already done and passed in the first portion. The staff assured me that I do not need the test or the referral and my forms would be ready within 72 hours. Nope. One week later after calling twice to see when my forms would be ready and being told they would email them to me, I call again to find out the telehealth doctor is refusing to sign the form until I get the test I was told by the staff I didn't need. Now I'm sitting here with 20/20 vision, passing all the required tests, and an expired license because I won't pay to redo a test I already did. This is basically extortion at this point. Avoid at all costs, go anywhere else. Visionworks wants money and nothing else. If zero stars were an option that's what I'd rate this joke of an operation. read more

I took a prescription to them for glasses. Picked out one set of frames and asked if they could also replace the lens on my Ray Ban sunglasses to which they agreed to do. The regular glasses came back with a blurry section on the right lens they agreed to have that lens remade. They lost my Ray Ban frames and instead replaced them with another Ray Ban frame that I didn't really care for. The bifocal section was too low on them so they had to be remade. I did like Lamont though he was very accommodating, but the incompetence of the company is overwhelming. read more

I walked out after the associate who was "helping" me disappeared. I asked the other associate what happened to the lady that was with me. And she only said she'll be back. After waiting another 10 minutes I left. There are other eye doctors around. I'll be making a n appointment elsewhere. read more

If I could choose -1 Stars, it would fit perfectly here. First they call me literally 20 minutes before my eye exam to tell me I have to complete an online registration. Couldn't let me know days ago when I called - only 20 minutes before appt - ridiculous. Then I get all the way over there and the "associate" tells me my coverage is denied. First off I didn't give them my insurance infomation so not sure where they got this information. I asked the person to check the card, dummy just keeps pointing to their brain-dead computer as if it's the end-all, be-all, isn't interested in verifying my coverage. Says they called and told me that my coverage was denied - that was a FLAT-OUT lie ... I received no such call or voicemail or txt .. just told to come in and fill out the online information in-person. SO after being turned away like yesterday's garbage, I proceeded to call my BC/BS Davis vision # RIGHT ON THE BACK OF MY INSURANCE card - took all of about 45 seconds to verify that my coverage is completely current. AVOID THESE INCOMPETENT PEOPLE unless you have plenty of time to waste in your day ... I do not. Called Target across the street .. got a same day appt 2 hours later. read more

I did not feel pressured to get more than I needed, and am excited about going back for final products of contact lenses and glasses. Highly recommend. read more
