I walked in at 9:10 for a 9:20 appointment only to be met by 2 workers who seemed to be having a tough morning. I explained i had a new VSP benefit program and they were very sure what my benefits were. Rude and dismissive along the way. I tried to show them the benefit description i had but they could care less. "If its not in our system I don't know what to tell you." Rescheduled my appointment for 11am so I could speak to manager Diana when she arrived for work. When I called the benefit administrator to make sure I had clarification they were clear and gave me what I needed. I returned for 11am appointment which I met Diana who accused me of being rude to her staff before even hearing a word i had to say. I waited 40 minutes to be seen. Diana returned and explained where the discrepancy and confusion came from. Making me wait for 38 minutes beyond my scheduled appointment made it feel like every other doctor office. I called corporate to talk about the issue and they thanked me profusely because as they said, "If we don't hear from the customers, how are we going to know?" Now the good part when I was finally able to meet up with the Optometrist, Mohammad Zan, he was fantastic. His exam was thorough and his patience was evident in explaining all of my questions, no rush, no upsell, he was an absolute pleasure to deal with and I recommend him 100%. My question is this why do attitudes change after they realize your willing to go to the mat and get corporate involved. What it comes down to is hourly employees that could care less if paycheck comes from visionworks, walmart, target,or shoprite have no interest in customer service. They will when AI kicks in because customers are sick of this. If management isn't focused on customer experience and realize that the first person you meet could care less then that stores revenue will suffer immensely. read more

zero stars....horrible experience two women that opened monday morning ( late) Extremely rude unprofessional this is now my 3rd horrible experience with them now i am removing my father that goes there and spends a lot of money. They tried to belittle me because i have been there before they have my file i wasnt driving i changed bags and didnt have a picture id on me and laughed and said everyone has there id on them but i went over everything with the unessary phone call and i had my insurance card they were just being so immature mean girls (grown women) so we went a road over to americas best contacts and eyeglasses were i was greeted very nicely they were professional and didnt have a miserable personality. It cant help your business with your staff choices because i was apologized to before over the atitude but that one is still there. Last year when i was there for my father she treated him horribly and rolled her eyes had no patience and one of the workers apoligized on her behalf and said shes not nice to any of the employees either. I was there few weeks ago for scheduled eye exam. It was a fantastic experience from the people at the front desk to the person that did the preliminary exam (she was great, pleasurable, personal, yet professional. I saw the Dr. afterwards and he answered every single question I had. Even some concerns that I had about other issues that I was having. First, I can't tell you the name of any of the 6 staff members there -- that should have been a red flag.. Walked into Visionworks 5min before my 4pm appointment. I signed in & had my temp checked. Waited less than 10min to be seen by a girl who remains nameless. She was nice with cute Easter nails. Asked me to wash my hands then took pictures of my eyeballs or whatever & puffed some air. Still all good. Next I saw a blond older lady doctor with horrible bedside manor (obviously since I don't know her name). She spoke to me like I had no clue about anything at all. This was annoying but I chalked it up to her personality. Exam done I decided against having my script put into anything there even though my insurance would cover it, I just wasn't comfortable. Asked for my script & this is where it all went downhill. I listened as the girls working there complained about a customer who had complained the day before. One of the girls asked "which one, they all complain?" --red flag number idk 3). Got my receipt for the exam & decided to leave their gossiping & wait for my script outside. 10min go by I walk in as patients walk in for their appointment. After 28min of waiting & seeing the doctor 2 times finally a receptionist asks what I'm waiting for. Another couple minutes I say, "if this is going to be much longer I could come back." She finally explains that the doctor might not get to it today. This was terribly frustrating since I was there for 2 appointments & waited for 30min. I assume since I was taking my business elsewhere for glasses I was ignored like I wasn't there. I raised my voice & told the receptionist know that it was horrible service. They could have told me to come back from the beginning. Not keep me there waiting & waiting for no reason. I just don't don't understand how the doctor could treat her patients that way. I came in for 2 appointments. One for me and for my husband. We had our emotional support dog with us for my husband who has Alzheimer's/Dementia along with cognitive impairment and traumatic brain injury. The small Maltese gives my husband comfort. He holds him and the doctor suggested he have an emotional support dog. We have his certification papers as well. These women about 4 of them that we walked into the store behind the counter where they stood. They were cold and arrogant and told us we cannot stay with the dog. I told them I had no choice because I couldn't leave my husband alone in the car with the dog while I had my eye exam. He is also a runner. He would not stay in the car if I told him to sit in it until I came back. We are new to the area and this is the first bad experience we have had. Most people welcome us and they surround us when we have the dog with us. He doesn't bark and he's not aggressive. He is there to keep my husband calm and it helps me out so much. We were told to leave and I told the women I would write a review about their people skills which were none and the rude way we were dealt in. The woman told me that's nice and have a wonderful day and waved goodbye to us. I will never go back and I will never recommend them to anyone. The front desk person was beyond rude and not helpful at all. I got there 30 minutes prior to my appointment hoping to get seen early. She, gave me the nastiest look and told me no, to wait until my time. I then proceeded to wait until 20 minutes after my appointment scheduled time to be seen. Bought some really pretty frames for Mini-Me in Nyack NY, brought them to Visionworks to have lenses put in. Process was simple, I remember distinctly that the person taking our frames, writing the information off the frames and adding it to my daughters chart and wrapping it all up to be sent out to the lab elsewhere... fast forward to this past month- Daughters glasses got smashed during school when she had a accident, she tossed them without thinking.. I went to Visionworks to get the information off the chart so I could go buy the frames and bring them back to have new lenses put in... Uh NO. not possible, I am told, that if you buy the frames somewhere else they don't keep the information.. really? they only keep information of frames they sell, didn't even offer to help us look at the ga-jillion frames on the wall to maybe assist us in finding something that could match. Nope ... A whole lot of questions come to mind on this - such as how does the outside lab keep track of the frames sent in how does the lab make sure the right lens size went into the correct frames frames have information on the inside of the arm that states the size, manufacture, etc of the frame Anyway- think we will be getting our next "family eye-glasses" order elsewhere, like back at OPSIN Yes there are 4 of us, two of which get specialized frames, usually 2 pairs for each of us... so 8 pair of glasses at least. At OPSIN, we have never had a problem with lost or broken frame issues not being tracked and information provided so we can love our frames and our lenses. Sometimes convenience just doesn't make up for good customer service practices. read more

Walked into Visionworks to my appointment and I'm a few minutes early. All 4 people working there didn't say hello to me, or even look at me to knowledge my presence , I right away felt the coldness and abuse from the staff. They didn't say 'we'll be right with you' or something related to my appointment. Finally I said 'hi, I have an appointment', a man with an attitude said 'sign in' ..still no hello .. (how friendly..not really)!! I didn't see the book at first to sign in. Right after, there were no further instructions of what I should do, should I stand, sit in that one chair.. since no one gave me the time of the day, I went to check out the glasses, I knew I needed to purchase a pair after my examination. They all continue to ignore me, till I tried a pair of glasses and literally two people came rushing over yelling at me like a 5 year old, one young lady on the right said 'you can't put the glasses back on the wrack (no sign that said that or a verbal warning) and another lady on my left verbally attacked me by saying 'and ..you can't remove your mask while trying glasses'. At that point I got a feeling I wasn't welcome there, I couldn't even look at them anymore, rude, and stupid! Wow! How abusive was that experience. I quietly walked out never to return! 15 minutes after they had the audacity to call me to tell me I missed my appointment, (i was there 10 minutes-early). The young lady that called me, also asked me 'can you tell me more about what happen ? I explained and she verbally talked over me, arguing with such rudeness it made me to believe it was one of the girls that verbally attacked me in the store pretending to be a manager...PS the were no other customers / patients in the store.. so what the hell were they all doing there? It looked like they were all waiting for me to do something wrong so they can yell at me. Never in my life went to a medical facility and been treated with such disrespect, so unprofessional! After having a less than mediocre experience at their Brick store for our last eye exams, and wanting to try once again, my wife and I made our next exam appointments at the Howell store. Upon entering we were asked by a female employee if we had appts, and were told to sign in on the sheet. No sooner did we do so she then proceeded to confront and educate me that I would need to wear one of the blue masks in order for the doctor to see me, as I was wearing a bandana, which incidentally covered much more area of my face than does a cheap, China-made blue mask. As it happened, I did happen to have one in my pocket as a backup, and I moved to change it quickly, as she then directed me to stop and go outside and do so. I'm a business owner and I get that rules are rules - and I try to be cognizant of the frightened even though we are over a full year into this - but there is absolutely a right way and a wrong way to enforce them. My problem is that she was discriminately and selectively enforcing the rules as she said they exist, and at the same time, doing it quite condescendingly and rudely. She did not say to my wife, who was wearing a leopard print burkha-looking thing on her face, that she had to wear a blue mask to be seen by the doctor as well. Even though her face covering and mine covered the same amount of facial area. In fact, she said absolutely nothing to her about it. This company blitzes you with 60,000 emails and texts prior to the day of your appointment with reminders, repeated requests for the same info over and over, and countdowns to your appt. date and time. Wouldn't it make just a little sense to communicate this requirement written in stone to wear a blue surgical mask in one of those bothersome messages? The reason they don't is because they pick and choose. My wife remained for her appt. as her glasses were broken and she needed a new pair ASAP. But after I left the store, my wife said customers arrived for their appointments wearing gaiters and continued to be seen by the doctor. Strict rules enforced by the book, huh. This is not for the Optometrist service as I used my own OD. I brought in my own prescription for bifocals picked out my frames . Easy right? Sales associate drew a line on a lens for where the separation would be on my bifocals I gave her my insurance information and she gave me an estimate on when I would have my glasses. A 2 week wait. I then ordered a second pair online with a different company with a higher quality lens with coatings and had them in a week.For HALF of what Vision Works charged my insurance company and 1/3 less than a second pair offered here. BTW when my glasses came in the lenses were not good and had to be sent out to be redone. After another week of miscommunications with the associates and managers I got my glasses. Nobody checked with me to see if they fit properly only interested in handing me the glasses. I had better customer service from an internet company than this place. Hey I think if you're just interested in a cheap pair of glasses and you have insurance this place offers a basic value with basic service. read more

So I attempted 4 times to resolve broken glasses and glasses that needed to be adjusted (I've still haven't worn them) without any success. First of all you can't call the store because they DONT'T ANSWER their phones. So you have to make an appointment on line. Between my work scheduled and their available appointments it's been over a month since I picked up defective glasses. At every appointment I am told that the person I need to see isn't there and have to come back! . I cannot tell you how frustrated this is becoming. My last appointment Renaldo was extremely rude and told me I could sit there all day no one was going to help me. All I want now is to exercise my right and "their 100% guaranteed 100 day policy" and return these inferior and broken glasses. (BTW - the original broken pair was suppose to be replaced by a new pair but tbey just fixed the first pair but they are still unwearable. So I filed a complaint with the BBB, and will be filing a claim with the department of insurance (since they have been reimbursed by my insurance company) and with my human resource department. I am writing this review to warn other customers to not go there. They are horrible!!!! read more

Called after 6 days was told they are not in yet - called on day 10 - was told you got a refund not glasses - would get a call back... 4 hours later I called and was assured I'd get a call back - 4 hours after that I called again and got they were busy and would call me back. Cancelled my order - disputing charges with my credit card - they also almost sold my son the wrong frames that would have been way too small for him. Incompetence at its finest - stay away ... My first was good, the second was BRUTAL. I was given a set of contacts by the doctor to wear for a week and recheck. I wore them for a day and my eyes were bloodshot - ok, that brand wasn't for me. I made a 6:15 appt, was told by the front desk to come a few minutes earlier. I got there at 6 and was taken in within 8 minutes. It was all downhill from there. The same dr (male, Asian) examined me and had me try on a few different pairs of contacts. The first pair hurt me as soon as I put them in and he told me to wait 10 minutes for them to "settle". WHAT? I sat there squinting my eyes, tearing, and felt my eyes burning for all 10 minutes. Some settling all right. When I told him I didn't like them and could not read any of the letters, he kept asking me if I was sure and what the largest letters were that I could see. 2. After I tried the second pair he wanted to review my history - and said "ok you had a few pairs and one gave you headaches and --" That was when I interrupted him to say "No, I never had headaches, I had bloodshot eyes". His response? I SEE A LOT OF PATIENTS AND I CAN'T REMEMBER THEM ALL. Ummm----how about reading a chart first?!?! Then when I was trying to put the 3rd pair in, I had a bit of a struggle. He SIGHED LOUDLY and started washing his hands, saying he would put them in for me. When I said I could do it, he said THIS IS TAKING TOO LONG AND I HAVE OTHER PATIENTS TO SEE. I then told him I had the last appointment (according to his front desk). His reply was WELL I TOOK YOU EARLY AND THERE ARE STILL PEOPLE BEHIND YOU. He then shoved the contacts into my sore, red, ouchy eyes. Well now- that's professional, to blame the patient for being taken early. I didn't ask, I was just sitting there when he called my name. I had said earlier, (when he was badgering me about why I couldn't see any of the letters with the wrong contacts) that I would come back if needed. Anyway, I said I'm done here and will come back. The girl at the front desk gave me sympathy about my red eyes (from the first pair "settling" and burning my eyes, BTW) and asked me when I wanted to come back. She asked me if I wanted to see him again, and I asked to be scheduled with the other (female) doctor. Perhaps I should have said "If I never see him again that would be too soon". I can tell you one thing: I'm a hospital manager and would NEVER permit any of my doctors to sigh loudly at a patient who was taking too long (!). My doctors also read the patient's chart before they go in the room so they appear professional and invested in the patient's success. There were many ways he could have handled my appointment: how about showing some sympathy and saying "gee, your eyes look sore. How about we give you a break today and have you come back another time? I'm sorry we can't find some contacts that are satisfactory to you." That sounds like a win-win; you can get the client out so other patients can be seen, and the client feels like you showed sympathy and cared about her. That option wasn't available to me: I was made to feel like I was incompetent and a waste of his time. LOUSY ATTITUDE!! I'll be calling the corporate office on Monday to tell my story, maybe that doctor can go to some training on how to develop a caring bedside manner. Gave them a second chance worst decision ever. They called me to verify my insurance when I was at work four days ago. I tried returning the call and a robot was directing me. It had me on hold for atleast an hour and no one answered. I go in for my eye appointment today and they tell me my prescription expired four days prior and I could have purchased contacts four days ago with no exam needed. If only someone would have answered the phone I would have been able to find this out. Never going back second bad experience here. read more

They destroyed my sisters eyes by giving her too strong of a prescription, then continued to try and upsell my to buy reading glasses as well as prescription. Im only 20 and my prescription is super minor I only need them for reading, why are you trying to sell me reading glasses? Do your sales matter that much that you're trying to con everyone that walks in? I highly advise you to avoid this place at all costs. This is the only place I will ever go for my glasses. Melissa and the entire staff here are absolutely amazing. Every time I walk in there they are just so friendly and welcoming. Right away they always ask how my daughters are doing. And when it comes time to picking out a pair of frames they will spend as much time as one needs to make sure you walk away not liking, but loving your glasses. They know the importance of feeling confident and comfortable with something you are going to be wearing everyday. Last I visted I shared with Melissa that my 18 month old daughter had accidently broke my glasses. Her first reaction was sympathetic and she just had to figure out a way to help find the most cost effective resolution for my family and I. Knowing that I have two new little girls and things can be hard, she went above and beyond. The Howell Vision Works really is the family friendly store. Working at Keller Williams Realty and having glasses that not only look good but perform well at our everyday task is very important. Recently I sat on one of my pairs and was very upset. It was my first time and was very upset. I came to this store in Howell and was greeted by Melissa. She examined for a minute and said give me your name and number. No questions asked. I was super surprised, within an hour and a phone call my glasses were 99.9% fixed. Not sure what they did or used but got my glasses straighten out and even put new nose pads on. Again looking into the new case and cloth to my surprise again to find the the old nose pads. It was great to know this is my new go to eyeglass store. Originally from Staten Island and not knowing anyone, it makes me feel a lil important no appointment needed and the professionalism was great. Visionworks truly has an awesome employee and company policy. Now to see which new pair I want to go along with my collection. I heard about the 2 for $50 sale so I arrived just after the store opened on a Friday morning. Already had a prescription. Customer Service rep showed me the frames and told me to pick the 2 I wanted. I asked how long of a wait. She giggled. I left as it could have easily been a 2 hour adventure. Very poor staffing and customer service. I would never go back there. read more
