A year or two ago, I bought two pairs of eyeglasses from the Visionworks on Mineral Spring Avenue in North Providence. The glasses were exactly the same frames and lenses. Somehow I lost one of them, so I ordered the same exact glasses again. I went for my appointment and had my vision checked by a personable young man who knows everything about eyes, vision, and eye glasses. He was very nice and explained everything clearly. A few days later, I received a phone call that my new glasses were ready. I went right up there and picked them up. A gentleman waited on me, and he was wonderful ... very polite! He asked if I thought everything was okay and if I had any questions. I am very pleased with my new glasses. The only suggestion I have for Visionworks North Providence is this: There are several young women who work there and they are not personable. No eye contact. No greeting. They need to buck up because they are professionally employed but they don't look or act the part. Their behavior won't stop me from going to this Visionworks location. I will, however, say this: As a business professor, their demeanor is going to hold them back from being successful in a professional employment setting. read more

Aaron did my eye exam and he was so thorough, explained my prescription and how my vision changed from my last eye exam from a different business (different business did my eye exam wrong!!) and explained what kind of vision I have and what that means on my day to day. I have far sight. Kim, who I've seen twice now to pick out glasses is exceptional! Both occasions, she picked out a BUNCH of glasses for me to try on to help recommend some. She explains the breakdown of charges and doesn't push to upsell you on the additional features. Front desk girl is friendly and gets to you right away. You don't have to wait. This place is a joke. First eye exam and I got the wrong scripts for not ONE but TWO separate pairs of glasses. A few hundred dollars just thrown away. Guy doing the exam couldn't have been more miserable and UNINTELLIGENT about the whole ordeal. He works there. I dont. So obviously some knowledge or guidance would have been helpful. So after screwing up my exam and writing me the incorrect scripts he send me out to the waiting area to sit. An hour later I not so calmly walk up to the woman there and ask wtf am I waiting for? She tells me to sit and she will be with me shortly. Proceeds to bullshit with her friend for another 35/40 minutes until the friend had to leave, rolls her eyes and looks at me and said what glasses are you getting? Um I don't know. Didn't know I should have been looking at the overwhelming amount thrown on walls everywhere. So I drove 40 minutes away from home to order two pairs from another location. BOTH pairs have the incorrect scripts. Maybe the lady in the registration area should focus on paying customers instead of her friend. Also maybe her friend should tell her shes 70 not 20. Have no clue why this place has a horrible review rating on Yelp, or what others are on about... but I've been going here to get glasses for years and years. Everyone is so friendly and helpful! Especially the many times as a teenager I accidentally broke my glasses! I went here today, I accidentally broke them last night and I was able to get them fixed in less than 30 mins! I did have to pay for the frames to be replaced, but that really isn't a big deal. It matters how you treat people working in customer service. Not sure of everyone's experiences. But I will say being polite and remaining calm does go a long way, rather than bitching about not getting what you want. Then going on Yelp to gripe about it. I am a repeat customer at this Visionworks store. My husband decided to try them. We spent a long time there about two weeks ago, discussed options and got a price for and frame and progressive lenses, etc. We came back today to speak to the person who helped us then. She was busy and no one else offered to help. The customer service there is non-existent. There is no time limit on how long you can wait to be seen to finalize an order on a pair of glasses. If the person you ask for (are waiting ) to see is busy with another customer, you are out of luck. I asked if we should make an appointment and was told at the check in that doing that is not necessary. However, no one asks to help you even after you are sitting there waiting for help for 20 plus minutes. We left disappointed. Where was the manager? read more

Dr. Seshadri (sp?) seemed very knowledgeable and thorough. I came in with glasses broken at the bridge, and she was able to examine my eyes, figure out my old prescription from the old glasses, and do all the necessary tests without dilating my eyes. She meticulously went through the lenses til she found the right script for me, AND fit me for FREE daily contacts that will last me til I get my replacement glasses! Now, I've never been a huge fan of contacts, because they tend to irritate and dry out my eyes pretty quick. But even just wearing my new contacts for about 2-3 hours felt WAY better than previous contacts have. So I now have the ability to continue working (since I didn't have a spare pair) until I get my new glasses! Dr Seshadri saved me from being functionally blind for the next 3 weeks! I'm on seven years now, and have always had great experiences. The staff is very helpful and friendly, and the doctors are also wonderful. They don't try to sell me anything I don't need or want, and they listen. I've never had an issue, I always get great and fashionable lenses, and they never flinch when I tell them I only wear contacts when swimming (so they never overcharge me for anything). read more

I made an online appointment for Visionworks on Feb 27, 2020 located on 1875 Mineral Spring Ave, North Providence, RI 02904. I get an email showing my appointment that I created. A little over a week on March 6, 2020 I get an email to confirm my eye appointment by email which I promptly click the link and know it was confirmed. I get an email reminder on March 11 for my upcoming appointment. Later that day I get another email telling me to call in to confirm my appointment at 1:21pm. I call in at 5:30pm on March 11th after I get off work. After I called in I was told my appointment was cancelled because I did not call in earlier or confirm my appointment at all because their system did not confirm it on their end. Honestly I think they are lying because I am still getting automated emails telling me about my appointment. I think they gave the appointment time to someone else to accommodate whomever they wanted and believe that by giving me a later time in the day would fix the problem. I was not okay with this. Ironically, their system still believes my appointment is still scheduled and I get another reminder of my appointment even though they told me it was cancelled. read more

They somehow didnt know what I was there for when I showed up for my scheduled annual exam. Then I waited for 45 minutes past my appointment time. Then they forgot to dilate my eyes which I called about the following day and was told to come back in, why couldnt they do this in one appointment??? The doctor was also extremely dismissive and didnt listen to any of my concerns. She told me she couldnt tell me what was causing my vision concerns or try to help me with them since I didnt bring in my contact box and she didnt know which contacts I was wearing. Then once you order glasses, you are on your own. if there are any problem they don't listen nor try to help at all and also continue to ignore you. This is the Absolute worst of the worst eye care I wouldn't even recommend this place to my worst enemy. I ordered my glasses about 3 weeks ago. I called checked they said it's still not ready one week later I call 2 and a half weeks later. They said that they don't see my order it was never processed. When I literally went to the location sat down for 30 mins and ordered my glasses the lady said it would be there 1-2 weeks. Now all of a sudden the order disappeared. Very very bad service. The guy said he would process the order again and would rush the lab for me it's been 3 days already no glasses. They have me talking to people on the phone from different country I ask to be transferred to the store the guy tells me they not answering. Extremely bad customer service. I have nothing but great things to say about Visionworks. I have had exams and have made purchases here. They have a ton of selections including inexpensive as well as high end designers. Frequently they offer a buy one get one half off sales. I recently popped one of my lenses out as well as lost a screw. Walked right in and 5 minutes later I was walking out able to see. read more

So far I am extremely disappointed. I went to this Visionworks a little over a week ago for an appointment. When I called before my appointment (which I made online) I had the misfortune of speaking with a woman who's demeanor made me feel like I was an annoyance just for needing an appointment. She kept trying to speak for me instead of listening to my needs. The doctor who examined my eyes was very nice and explained as she conducted the exam. Then a very nice, yet not very competent woman helped me chose frames. She had to keep asking the people she worked with how to complete some of the ordering of my glasses. I ordered two pair of glasses which would take approximately a week to come in. No problem. Forward to yesterday I received a voicemail that my glasses had arrived. I went after work and was met at the door due to social distancing. The same woman who helped me chose the frames handed me two pairs of glasses. I immediately could see that one pair was not the correct frames . At first the woman said no, those are the correct frames . When I told her I took a pic of the frames I chose she suddenly remembered and apologized. She said "use those until the correct frames come in and then we'll exchange for correct. So I did not try the new glasses until the next day at work. And not only are they the wrong frames, the prescription is incorrect as well. Can't see a thing with them on. I called Visionworks shortly after they opened and first , phone was answered and immediately disconnected. Called back and a very nice lady answered and listened to my concerns. She even said it sounds like you got someone else's glasses, I will let you speak with a manager. So, the very same woman who I spoke with before my appointment got on the phone and once again was impolite and kept cutting me off trying to finish my sentences instead of listening . I finally had to say 'just listen' . She said she is the assistant manager which is very concerning for me because now I'm not very confident that this is issue will be resolved and I will end up paying lire out of pocket as well as have my eyesight compromised. I have been instructed yes to bring the glasses back to check the prescription and if necessary complete another exam for a new prescription. Hopefully my follow up review will be on a more positive note. Update. Update: including my original exam, this makes FOUR visits and still the prescription is not correct. I understand people must adjust to social distancing etc. yet I am an also an essential employee and I've already had to miss work hours three times now and this last time I waited 25 minutes past my appointment time and watched the eye doctor waste time looking at a customers pictures on their phone then say right in front of me, regarding me "well she'll just have to wait around because I don't have time right now". Well I also did not have time to wait when by the way I was on time For my appointment. I took my glasses and will follow up with my insurance. Hopefully my insurance will approve me to go get re checked at another eye doctor to get the CORRECT prescription without four visits. So now I'm out $165 and have two pair of glasses that are useless. I have zero faith in the VisonWorks doctor or optometrists. But I guess now that they have my $775 insurance allowance they don't care about my vision read more

I am very upset in the way I was taken care of when I went to pick up my new glasses. When I finally was taken care of I was given my glasses, asked to put them on. He then asked me if I could see alright. I said yes. That was all. There was no mirror to check to see if they were ok, He did not try to adjust them or even asked if they felt ok. I was barely done and he was calling the next person over. I never felt as rushed as I did there. As I have major problems with my eyes and I did say this I don't feel as if I was given the proper care that I should have gotten. As it is the glasses keep falling down and I do need adjustments. Took a 30 minute drive while waiting for someone at this vision works to answer the phone. After 20 minutes on hold I continued to drive there with my sister waiting over an hour for someone to answer. The gentleman there was standing there and eager to answer me when I came in person but no one could answer the phones for a simple question on an appointment and to make sure I was able to pick up someone else's glasses today instead of them coming in tomorrow... they never answer their phones, always contradicting to their guests. Also without even calling the patient handed me a pair of $270 glasses without any identification or assurance to prove I was actually picking them up for her. Went to my scheduled appt at 6pm. Apparently I confused them as they asked me why was I there. Ummmmm....eye exam! Another man walked in behind me and the eye examiner told her co-worker 'oh no don't u double book me' and then pointed to me and the other person wagging her finger and said 'work it out between the 2 of you'. I waved bye-bye as I will NEVER have her work on my eyes. They actually tried to reschedule me for another appt. yes, I hurried after woring all day to get there for 6 and the\at was how I was treated. Worst place ever for ordering contacts. Sent daughter there for getting contacts for wedding....didn't happen because first someone didn't order, then wrong order, and now contacts are marked wrong. Last year I wrote a savage review of this store. However because of COVID-19 I could only go to this store when my glasses broke. What a difference! Many of my complaints were really not knowing the business requirements and how closely they adhere to them. Such a positive and satisfactory visit. Buyer Beware!!! I went here do to the fact that they were open on Saturday's and had a vision check. Received a script and was told they had a buy one get one free option + $50 off when you buy two pairs. As this was my first time in progressives I liked the idea of two pair since I had to wear most of the time. The selection of frames were ok. Not much to pick from for designers. I was then measured and sold up on their special HD progressive lenses. When all was said and done it came to $850 total. Not knowing cost of progressive lenses I assumed this must be ok. I went back two weeks later, as that is the time it takes apparently for the glasses to come back. Right away I knew they were way off. I mean shouldn't I be able to see better not worse?? But I was told that I needed to "adapt". After a week I returned as I couldn't "adapt" since they were clearly wrong script. I Was scheduled for a recheck and entire script changed. They remade the glasses (another 2 week wait) picked them up and one pair was way off. Again I was told I needed to "give it time". Went back in a week and the manager said they were fine and that the lenses were big and on progressives that causes distortion. "Keep trying" they said. I finally went again a week later and said no go there is something wrong. Different sales person held them up to light and low and behold both lenses are filled with these tiny scratches. She said this must be why they are distorted and this is very unusual. I said not that unusual as the right lens on the other pair had it too! They offered to remake again! (WTF another two weeks?? I'm already 6 weeks in!). At the time I heard another customer saying to a different sales person her glasses were off too. I said no more I want my money back. Was then told only the manager could authorize and btw he is on vacation. I said no way pushed back and got a refund. I then happen to go down the street to an optician and was fitted for two pairs of designer frames (Ray Ban and Michael Kors) using Veralux progressive and guess what? Also $850. So what is up with Vision Works buy one get one? It is a scam as those frames were not designer and the lenses were distorted crap. Picked up my glasses from new optician in 5 days and immediately saw a 100% difference and improvement. Clear, not distorted, professional optician with no attitude like I received at Vision Works. Do not go there. You will save no money, you will be sold crap and they will keep telling you it is you. I highly recommend DiLibero down the road. I went to Vision World for the first time yesterday and received an eye exam from Dr. Lynn Fonseca. She was friendly and answered all my questions. I really appreciated that Dr. Fonseca made no effort to sell me eyeglasses. A lot of people complain on Yelp about optometrists refusing to give out their eyeglasses prescription. Dr. Fonseca handed me the prescription without my even asking. When I asked her if I needed new glasses she was very honest--my eyes had changed a little but it really wasn't necessary. We ran into problems at the front desk with my insurance company (Aetna forgot I exist) and the woman there put a lot of effort into straightening things out. Since I haven't bought eyeglasses at Vision World, I can't speak to the previous reviewers complaints. But overall it seemed like a nice place to go for eye exams and contacts. read more

Went 2 weeks ago for a re script on my glasses and to get contact lens for the girst time. My first time around in my rescript was wrong. They failed to recognize my stigmatism which is a new thing i guess. Either way i got rechecked and the second time around was much more successful. As far as the contact lenses go? They didnt have what i needed in stock. So they told me they would call me when they came in and to pay now. 7 full days went by and still no call. So i called, ohh yeah there was an issue with one of the contacts and we had to reorder (it was defective or something) well call you when the new lens vomes in so we can schedule a time to try them on and show you how to care for them properly. okay... its been 11 days now and i just got off the phone. Guess what, lenses are in! But im still yhe only one following up on this? Wheres my "well call you when they come in" call?!? Needless to say i still have to go in and try them on in 3 days... what a project this has turned out to be. And dont get me started on that 1 grumpy older lady with the snobby im better then you and have so much more class then to be working here attitude. Or is she the owner? God knows. Last week I came here for my first time has I came in the store I was greeted. The clerk asks me how can I help you today and told her I needed some adjustments done. so she tells me to have a seat i said ok then she takes my glasses in the back room and with in few minutes she brings them back and i tried them on and the adjustments wasn't made so i start telling her about my glasses and how one side felt more in on my face while the other side is more outward so she takes them back in to do the adjustments so when she comes back they had felt no different then she tells me well i have adjusted them twice and i told her that they don't feel like they was adjusted all. They felt more tight but not straighten then she walks away and someone else comes over and starts saying how there's no more they can do for me and they tried doing all they could which was nothing but bending my glasses out of place. this customer service is polite needs to put more time and effort into the glasses good selection of frames they need serious training at least they tried tho. read more

I choose to go to Vision world because I was tired of lens crafters high prices and horrible doctors. I mean the staff at the Warwick mall is incredibly rude. Anyway I walked in looking for glasses and didn't find much of a selection, I was helped out right away, the lady even called to lens crafters to get my script. I was happy with that but the lack of frames is annoying. I decided to use my same frames I have always used but I went with lens from them....um big mistake. first time I ended up with a finger print under my anti glare coating. okay fine I brought them back and was hassled, the women took forever trying to clean my lens when both my husband and my self tried to explain that it was under the coating to she just kept wiping and ignoring us. finally she rudely said yep, that's a finger print, ill order you a new lens, fine! a week later I get my new lens replaced, almost 2 months later im needing to go back because the replaced lens is now CRACKING! they put the thing in too tight. Over two months ago, I brought my grandson in for glasses and to be measured for contacts...the contact measurement was extra on top of all the fees, which I didn't have a problem with. I was supposed to get called two weeks later, no call. I called again, was assured I would get a call back, no call. I called again, got an appointment. I got at least 4 texts in the week before the appt today, to which I responded each time that he would be there. My daughter brought my grandson to the appointed time, to be told..oh you didn't call to confirm so it was cancelled! I called the store, was on hold 15 minutes, called back, hi can I help you! Like they don't look to see someone is on hold!!! I asked for the manager who really sounded frazzled or not very concerned. He said the person who was supposed to do the appt had a family emergency...understandable, but he said they called me this morning. The text I got to confirm the appt was at 11:49. The phone call was at 1:50! He said the text is a service they use. Well, then fix it if the appt has to be cancelled, don't send a text to confirm and don't call 2 hours before the appt to cancel when you knew in the morning it was going to have to be cancelled. Went in here to buy non-prescription sun glasses. I have a vision plan that will cover the cost. I sat down with a salesperson and before she even looked at my vision plan told me there was a buy one get one free sale. Told her only interested in one pair of non-prescription sun glasses. She asked if I was sure I did not need prescription glasses and who my eye doctor is so she could call him to verifiy. Assured her I have 20/20 vision as I had cataract surgery on both eyes and my vision was now 20/20 and I have no need of glasses for any reason. She responded that if I had cateract surgery then I must have a slight script for at lest one eye and she wanted to call and verifiy this. Assured her again that I was certain I do not need presecrition, my lenses were corrected to mono-vision with the surgery which affords me 20/20 vision. She responded Mono-vision, then you MUST have a slight prescrition in at least one eye and she had to call my doctor to verify! Obviously, this person is not familiar with mono-vision and the benefits of cateract surgery. I again told here I was only there to purchase one pair non-prescrition sun glasses using my vision plan. She again insisted I must need even a slight prescription for at least one of my eyes. I assured her again I did not, and told her she obviously did not want my business and got up and walked out. I'll take my business elsewhere and will never go back there or recommend this place to anyone, The whole thing is just riduculous and insulting! read more

DO NOT GO HERE. This has been the worst optometrist service I've seen. Went to get contacts first time beginning of December. After trying a pair of contacts and having trouble with them, I was given a new trial pair without any consultation on price that was nearly twice as expensive. I decided to buy a 6-month supply of this brand because it felt better on my eyes, but they then failed to actually order the contacts after processing my payment. At the same visit, I got a change in my prescription, but this was not recorded in their system. So when I went back to pick up a new trial pair, they were for the bad prescription, and the new order they put in was for the bad prescription. I went back today to finally get my correct trial contacts, knowing I'll have to come back AGAIN in another week, and after being told they'd be ready for pick up, I found that I need to speak with the optometrist AGAIN to get all of this confirmed, and they weren't in the office. 6 trips to the same office in a month with no progress. Awful, confusing, condescending customer experience. GO ANYWHERE ELSE. I hope I someday get the contacts I ordered, then I will never come back here. What a horrible experience. read more
