Love my frames they have a good assortment. Went to one visonworks in NC and they took my insurance when I was visiting my daughter but wanted to wait til I got home. Same great frames but they refused my insurance. When I went to pick up my glasses had to wait and wait and wait not enough staff. There was only one person checking you in and just handing glasses out but if you had questions or concerns which I did had to wait for the other person who was the manager and trained so the line was long waiting for her. I stopped in one day to check out the selection of glasses they had available and compare pricing to other places in the area. Staff was very friendly and helpful even though they were busy tasking but I didn't mind at all, I prefer to be left alone while shopping. Found a cute pair of glasses on sale and was able to place my order that day and received them in about a week. They also have a tracker to see the progress of your order which I thought was pretty cool. When I went in to pick them up they had to be adjusted a bit and the woman helping was very patient with me while doing so. Dr. Porter is great, and so are the staff. The assortment of frames is good. I had an unusual prescription that required a special lab to make my glasses. There was no charge for the extra work needed on my glasses, but there was a delay in getting them. Elise was phenomenal in contacting the lab and getting its staff to work on my glasses to speed up the process. read more

Staff is wonderful but the prices are out of this world. I was quoted $780 for a pair for lenses on my frame. Breakdown of $780 was $220 my share and the rest would be covered by insurance. We went to Costco their price was $180. We ended up paying $115 while the insurance covered the rest. $180 at Costco versus $780 at Visionworks. Ok so this place is open but they don't allow more than 2 people in at a time and by appointment only. I know that's a good thing but not when you want a quick eyeglass adjustment. I could see through the window and employees and the two guests did have on masks. I honestly can't speak to anything else because we didn't have an appointment to get in. My appointment was during my lunch hour so I was pushing it on time. I called ahead because I was having trouble finding the location. When the receptionist, Mallory, answered the phone, she was very helpful and I let her know I was pressed on time. She did a great job making sure the process was quick and smooth for me. I was in and out for an exam in about 35 minutes! I really appreciate that she made haste, while still answering all my questions about the process. Dr. William Porter, the on-site optometrist, is one of the most deplorable, rude, and disrespectful doctors in the local area. Not only does he attempt to conceal his imperfect eye exams (after 3 times, mind you), but he belittles those with disabilities, including their caretakers. My hearing impaired friend had difficulty hearing what Porter had to say, so when I would insist on helping my friend understand, Porter would constantly interject - talking over me combatively - to make sure my hearing impaired friend would not understand his diagnostics. Porter was masked each time and disgustingly authoritative; and I finally made it known to his staff that his actions were not only unacceptable but unprofessional. Additionally, we have needed to have my friend's glasses redone multiple times due to Porter's insane antics. On the up side, however, make note of Alece, in the front: she is a team player and very good at what she does. read more

Terrible. Go to literally any other eye doctor anywhere. Dr was not personable at all. And expected my teen sons who have never put contacts in before to just know how to do it. When I got my contacts for the first time, the dr actually puts them in your eye so you can see how they feel and how they fit. Not let you sit there and get discouraged about it. Now they never want to wear contacts. Reluctantly purchased glasses here for my son and took forever. Only reason I will go back is to pick up the glasses. While there another patron came in and mentioned they lost his glasses that he ordered and then found them again so hopefully that won't happen to us. read more

The last two times I had my eyes checked, the prescription were not right, but the last time they were completely off. I shared it with the doctor's office and they said I was past my time to notify them, 2 1/2 months. I explained that I had to wait because we all had COVID one by one so we weren't leaving the house much but they didn't care. I went to the Costco doctor after the second time and the prescription was nowhere close to what it should have been. I walked around for 2 weeks feeling nauseous and almost dizzy because it was so off. I had to pay for a new eye exam and they had to order new lenses, which fortunately Costco covered. I would not go back to this doctor. The glasses are nice but pricing is all a la carte. Costco, everything was included in one price which was awesome...anti scratch, no glare, and the cost of lenses were less expensive for brand name. I wouldn't go anywhere else now. read more

Let me start off by saying the doctor was great!!! He was polite, kind, and extremely helpful. Now is when things went downhill. I went there on Friday and after my actual doctor appointment walked into the lobby and to my surprise, only one person working and then 4-6 people waiting to be helped. I waited about an hour and a half. The woman was very pleasant, but the wait through me off. While waiting, I picked my frames and was ready to go. When I was finally called to be helped, I gave her my insurance info. That's when she told me the system was down and she couldn't give me any pricing after insurance to get glasses and contacts. So she said she couldn't do anything for me today and that she would call me with the information I needed. She never called. It's now Tuesday and I called to know if they had any information for me. She was rude from the moment she picked up. Told me she is with a customer and couldn't help me. I thought to myself, " Am I not a customer also? " that's when she told me to just come in to figure it out. Firstly, it's 30 minutes away from where I work and live. Secondly, I don't want to go there and wait another hour and a half to be told something that I can be told on the phone. That's when she said, " well, that's fine, but you have to wait for me to finish with my customer. " I've been on hold THIS WHOLE TIME!!! I've written this whole review while on hold. I was at this location on Saturday 03/13 and Alex was the one who helped me. I want to make it clear that I went in with a lot of anxiety because this was the first time doing this on my own with new insurance and everything. Alex helped us and when an issue arose with my insurance he told me to take my time and as much as I need to figure out the situation on the phone. I was an anxious wreck but he reassured me that it happens all the time. After a while I got everything figured out and he helped me order my new pie of glasses went through my needs and the solutions he suggests. I was THRILLED. Aside from this while I was waiting he saw how crappy my old glasses looked and had my old glasses fixed! An OVER THE TOP move that is the best example of customer service I haven't seen in so long. If there was a negative star rating I would give this one. I and my husband did our annual eye check up here and got new glasses. Everything went well until then. My husband started feeling a discomfort in his left eye from the day he started wearing new glass and thought it could settle down after few days. The discomforts continued for almost two weeks and he visited Visionworks again and the technician verified his glass and confirmed the numbers on the left glass does not match prescription. He also confirmed the the discomfort was caused due to the wrong number on the left glass and took it back for rework. The discomfort on the eye continued for next 3-4 days and my husband went back to Visionworks to see if they can help to reduce it. The doctor performed eye exam and said the discomfort was not caused by wrong glass. He didn't even check the previous records and suggested to take an image of both eyes($39 after insurance) which he had already taken 25 days back. When we mentioned about it he said not to take it again. They charged $65 saying the exam is not covered by insurance. The lady at the front desk didn't event show the patience to hear what we had to say. They are here just for money. They made a big mistake by giving a wrong glass and not ready to take the accountability for the same. On top of that they are greedy to make more money out of their mistake. read more

Let me first start off by saying that Dr. William Porter was very nice. This review is for the ladies in the front. Vision works NEEDS TO TRAIN THEIR EMPLOYEES BETTER. Made an appointment online and included my insurance information... I received calls, emails, and texts confirming my appointment. When the appointment came I met with an employee by the name of Joyce who was ok, but in the end was the main reason why I was screwed over. I provided my insurance card and asked Joyce if everything looked good and her response was "you're good to go." Met with the doctor and when I came out, was when they decided to inform me that they DO NOT accept my insurance and I had to pay for the whole exam. Please don't get me wrong, this isn't solely about the money, more so that I have insurance for a reason and the exam was supposed to be free. If they would have told me prior to the exam that they didn't accept my ins, I would have gone else where. When I asked why Wasn't I told Joyce's response was: "no one ever told you?" Ridiculous. I am mortified by the service and baffled by their lack of empathy for their own mistake. This is the first and last time I come to this location. You have low reviews for a reason. selection is great customer service needs work When I walked in I was not greeted by any staff member. This happened on my initial visit as well but I assumed they were just extremely busy due to the end of the year rush so I held off on the review. However this time I walked in and the store was calmer but it took staff 6mins to say hello and ask if I need help. When I said I was there the staff member barely made eye contact responded with "last name, try these on" very unfriendly. So I said thank you and took my glasses and left. Super friendly and helpful staff. I was out of town and lost my hard contact lens. They aren't sitting in stock like the soft or daily use. My hair is very hard to fit with a soft lens but the doctor kept trying and working with me until we found one. I would not have been able to drive home without their help. Dr. Porter is the worst optometrist I have ever been too. He was rude and not personable. I brought my 4 year old son with me to see what the eye doctor is like and he was cold to both of us! I waited for him for over 2 hrs because the receptionist said he overbooked himself, and that this happens often. Myself, and a few other people of color were waiting for a long time. He billed me incorrectly, trying to make more money. I refused to order my contacts there because part of the proceeds to go to him. He tried to say that I had to order contacts after the fitting, I refused! I will not be giving my business to them anymore. I had to return my glasses 3 times because 1st time lenses did not fit properly in the frame so they re did them and when i got them back they had added transition lenses for my trouble which was nice but they started cracking the next day. I went back again and they re ordered them. I got a call from the store telling me that they would not be putting the transition lenses this time! What!!?? So you give me a courtesy for my trouble and then take it away!! For no fault of my own. Mind you not only did i get glasses, my wife got contacts and my son and daughter got glasses as well. Very disappointing experience. Had my exam day before Thanksgiving with no issues. Covered by insurance. I made an appointment for the Friday after Thanksgiving for my two (2) daughters. Received a call early Friday that they were having problems changing insurance over and asked for some more info. They said they would fix it and to come in as scheduled. When we arrived that afternoon, they weren't able to get it fixed so the admin folks said we could do the exam and come back for the glasses the following week. That was totally fine. Then Dr. Porter came out and said we would have to reschedule due no insurance. Clearly Ie had insurance as I just had my appointment two days before. I would have been fine had they cancelled everything early that day, but we made a trip on busy than normal day to their location only to be turned away after being told to come in. I was very disappointed that Dr. Porter didn't stand behind the decision of his staff and I have taken my family's business elsewhere. read more
