I have had years of experience with Dr Bussa. They recently moved to a new location in plantation walk. The new office is beautiful. Unfortunately the service does not match the decor. I've gotten the run around all week trying to pick my glasses up. Each day another excuse. At this point I just want a refund. I'm on Medicare and wanted to use my advantage benefits for new glasses. Supposedly the benefit is $400 / yr. I was told by the doctor that money is basically Monopoly money. The entire experience has turned me off to this practice. read more

Dr Bussa is my guy. I've been visiting the office for over 2 years getting my annual vision exam. Starting out with getting health services can be a little tricky, especially when insurance is involved. I always strongly suggest to read every word as best as you can before you sign, also, verify your benefits prior to visit. Awareness is key so you're not surprised by what test to take and various costs to expect. Once paper work is complete everything is a breeze. I took my daughter to get her glasses, after an err of a few weeks wait, Julian called and apologized profoundly and offered a pair of glasses for my daughter free of cost. I offered to meet them half way on the cost, he declined, stating err was their fault and they are taking full responsibility on fixing this problem. Based on all the above and Julian's taking full responsibility, I would definitely recommend Premiere Eye Center to anyone looking for testing eyes or filling their eye prescription. Just wow. Our whole family goes to the Boca location for Dr.Kehoe whose just the sweetest. However, their selection is a bit light for us so we decided to take Stephanie up on her offer to visit the Plantation location and just yes. They're moving soon to a much larger space and will have 3x the options which is amazing. We worked with Marissa, Megan, and Mackenzie to find frames we actually liked at a price that worked for us. I've been wearing glasses for 13 years now so I'm a little picky on my everyday accessory. My husband was able to find the frames he liked in a color he liked better at Plantation and both of us walked out happy and feeling good about our purchases. Definitely worth the drive to work with these ladies. I highly suggest Marissa and Megan for help with picking the perfect frame. They even offered to look at their distributors website for other color options in the styles we liked. We will be back, and we're bringing all of our friends and family. read more

Premier Eye Center - Plantation - Frames I LOVE for my everyday use. - Optometrists Near Me - Plantation, Florida

This is a hard one to review. Let me start with the Pros: -Great front office staff. Everyone I spoke to over the phone was friendly and courteous. They were able to fit me in on the same day. I was extremely grateful. -Dr. Bussa was excellent. I thought he was very friendly and thorough. Probably one of the best optometrists I've ever had. -Office was very clean and organized. Cons: -Eyeglass Frame selection. I don't think that they had much of a selection, but they are a small office. -Transparency. I really disliked the fact that the prices are not listed on the eyeglasses. Obviously cost of frames are a factor and I didn't like (at all) that I had to keep on asking for the cost of different frames. It was super annoying to me. -Purchasing. I went with expensive frames. I liked them a lot, so I'm not upset with that. Maybe I would have found cheaper ones, but as I mentioned I really hated having to ask for prices on every potential frame, so I just chose. Maybe that's why they do it... What was even worse was purchasing the lenses! Dr. Bussa mentioned blue light filtered lenses during our discussion. He did not mention the cost associated with them and I did not learn of the price until check out. When I told the woman that I would like to pass on the special lenses due to the cost, she said it was what the doctor and I agreed upon so those were the lenses I needed to get. This exchange left me feeling extremely uncomfortable. I actually had to ask her more than once to please put me back down to the normal lenses covered by my insurance. She was extremely pushy and I'm not sure if she gets a commission, but I will tell you that she was not nearly as friendly after I insisted on "downgrading" my lenses. I actually felt like a burden to her and that was after shelling out $229.00 total, which is by far the most I've ever spent on an eye exam and glasses. Ever. I actually found the exact same frames cheaper, so definitely do a quick check when you find a pair you like. -Delivery. It has been 9 days and my glasses still aren't in as of right now. They may arrive this afternoon. Again, definitely the longest I've ever had to wait for glasses. I'm not sure if I'll be back. On one hand, I really liked their facility, the front office staff, those who administered the eye tests and the doctor. They were all great. However, the pushy woman who assisted me at checkout made me feel extremely awkward and uncomfortable and that has left me with a really bad taste in my mouth. read more

I am beyond upset at Premier Eye Center. I'm writing this as a cautionary tale to anyone who decides to deal with this business. In November 2023 I went to the Plantation office for an eye exam, and advised them I was having vision issues in my left eye, and had cataract surgery in my right eye in 2016. At my age, which is 77, I thought that it was probably time for cataract surgery in my left eye. I was not examined by an optometrist, but I think an optician. I mentioned that I had cataract surgery in 2016, and asked how did the cataract look in my left eye - I knew I had a cataract, and in the past was told it was not necessary to operate yet. I was told yes, I had a cataract, but it was not to the point where I need an operation. So, instead of recommending surgery, it was suggested I get fitted for a pair of glasses, which I did. The lenses and frame cost me about 600 dollars. A few months later I came back and told them my eye was still blurry. This visit I was seen by an optometrist, Dr. Bussa. He said he could get me a slightly stronger lens, but it wouldn't help much, and suggested cataract surgery at that time, and referred me to an ophthalmologist, who indeed suggested I have the surgery. My beef with this business is that I should have been guided to a surgical procedure, and not sold a pair of $600 glasses that are now of no use to me after my surgery. Now, what am I to do with a useless pair of very expensive glasses? If they really cared about their customers they would reply to these many 1 star reviews and admit they should not have sold me glasses.I hope I can get a refund but I doubt they will admit to their negligence. If they referred me for surgery on my first visit, they wouldn't have been able to sell me an expensive pair of glasses. But do they really care? Let's see. Come on Premier Eye Center, let's see you step up to the plate and do the right thing so I can amend this review! I implore you. Don't treat your customers like this! This will be a one star review, as I cannot give a zero. I suggest if you are looking for a competent, honest eye center, LOOK ELSEWHERE. read more

I went for an exam and glasses at Premier Eye Center in Plantation. The exam was fine but getting my glasses is another story. I went back twice to try on my glasses and each time they were not correct. I was told I needed to have something else done at their Boca office but was never notified if the insurance approved it. I disputed this with my credit card and was denied. Premier Eye Center wrote a letter stating I received the glasses and never told them I was unhappy. The merchandise (glasses) are still there. UNBELIEVABLE! They don't care about the customer just the money. read more

This office tried billing my medical insurance instead of my eye plan for an office visit for an exam and glasses they sent me an email less than 24 hours telling me that I had to pay a copayment of $69 instead of going through my eye plan copayment of only $10. I called the office spoke to DuShane he was not helpful. I spoke to the office manager even worse. I told them they better eat that bill. scammers trying to charge me a no-show fee after sending me an email less than 24 hours before my appointment and their policy claims to cancel before 24 hours, so how are you gonna charge me and they don't even follow their own policy? Dr. Bussa seems nice, caring, and qualified. The staff and their empty promises and upselling leaves a lot to be desired. My wife and I started the process 2 months ago. Exam was very thorough. Was told it would be up to 2 weeks to get frames/lenses in. They never called. Went back 6 weeks later for a further exam and picked up order. My glasses were ok. My wife's were not. She was told to give it a week to get used to them. One week later? We brought them back and said to put in different lenses. Office manager said they would be back in a week. One week. Two weeks later, after multiple phone calls, we still don't have them. In three days she leaves for Europe. These are just facts. If anything changes to warrant an increase in their rating, I'll be more than happy to do so. Very disappointing experience. read more

Cant call a patient and give updates on there prescription up date of delivery. Then when you talk to them there's a problem. You have to wait till it corrected. Your told you have to wait another five or seven working days to get delivery. Then after they close on the second day of waiting you receive a phone, Your glasses are ready. You can pick them up tomorrow if you want. So, I go in to pick up my glasses. The receptionist goes to another room and retrieves my glasses that are in a fancy bag and hand them to me. I was ther in Aug.2021 for an eye check Dr. Steve was late and one of his students did the exam, he barely knows how to use the machine. After about 45 min, the Dr. shows up. After 5 min I was done with the exams, he gives me a prescription for the eyeglasses if I want to purchase them right there, BUT he never gives me the eye exam report, that they charge me a $50.00 copay and 38.00 for after charges. I have been here before and Dr. Bussa is really good. The only issue in this establishment is the front desk. If you can deal with the young lady behind the front desk then you are golden. This girl gives me the vibe that she does not want to be bothered. She answers your questions, but she is short. She is not friendly to the client. I came here the last week of the year trying to use up my insurance benefits before it was too late. Premier Eye Center was in my insurance network and close by so I thought I would check it out. I initially came in only looking to get some new frames. The people working there suggested getting an eye exam, I had an eye exam through Warby Parker a couple months prior but the additional cost wasn't much so I went with it. The staff was very nice and accommodating, they fit me into the eye exam the next day, come to find out it was packed and it felt very rushed since they lined up everyone that day. When the optometrist came to do my exam, it felt very hurried and he stepped out to take a phone call. I can understand it but from my first impressions it's not a great experience. Another thing that put a bad taste in my mouth was that he spent most of the time talking down Warby Parker after I mentioned the trouble I have with my newer frames - but it's a common complaint I have with new prescriptions they tend to strain my eyes until I get use to it, I just don't want to 'get use to'. I've been wearing glasses and going through eye exams for over twenty years and nothing I experienced at Warby Parker was out of the norm or 'lesser than' what you get at this place. I'm not a Warby Parker fan girl or anything, they are fine - you don't need to downplay another practice, let your work speak to why your practice is better. After my exam was complete I went to get fitted and pay for my frames and the total came out to more than what I was quoted the day before. When I mentioned it they honored the previously quoted price but it makes you feel like they are just trying to get more and more out of you. I mentioned that I would need to have the frames sent to me and the person helping me told me they would handle it and contact me when my frames are done. Now I've been trying to get in contact with them about it - through an outdated email on a card they gave to me no less. Finally was able to get in contact with then and what do you know, it's an additional fee. They aren't straightforward with their pricing/fees and communicating with them is such a hassle I would advise going to a place that is forthcoming with their pricing details and are able to promptly communicate through email. read more

After moving to Florida I needed to find an eye doctor in the area. I was very hesitant as I had been going to the same eye doctor in NY for many years. Dr Bussa is an incredible optometrist. Both him and his staff made me feel extremely comfortable during my exam. Julian assisted me with picking a pair of glasses. He was extremely helpful in offering me pairs that he thought would work with my face shape and was very patient with me as I made my decision. Dr. Bussa is by far the worst eye doctor I have ever been. He is so incompetent and literally doesn't give a hoot about his patients- he is simply there to make money and that is all. He will up sale you like crazy on getting extra tests that you don't need, simply because he is a con artist. He spent almost a year attempting to get my contacts prescription correct and couldn't do it. He tried to charge me shipping for every contact that I ordered despite it being his fault in the first place that he wasn't correctly ordering the prescription. I am not the only person with this complaint either. I overheard many patients calling in and complaining that it wasn't the correct prescription and the front desk receptionist told them, "Oh, give it a few days". This place is a MALPRACTICE suit waiting to happen- don't go here or heed my warning!!!! read more

I wish I wouyld have read all the previous reviews about this place. It would have saved me time and money... I went here because they took my insurance. Turns out they overcharge for tests that should be included in the normal eye testing. I couldn't even buy my contacts with them because of how much they charged for my eye exam and glasses alone! They don't show what the pricing on the frames are so you have no idea until the end. According to them, my insurance "shows them different coverage than what it shows me". I didn't believe it, but I needed my glasses so I went ahead and paid nearly $500 dollars. Oh, and I waited nearly a month to get my glasses. They do not have a wide variety of glasses. I made an appointment and ended up leaving almost three hours later. Everything was so rushed. The doctor is very nice but its not worth it. Don't waste your time and money on this place. read more

Dr. Bussa takes the time to explain all the tests that have been performed on your eyes and makes you feel quite comfortable with whatever treatment option he suggests. In our case, everyone in our family needed glasses, except for one of our children. His staff, which is the best around took their time and showed us frames in our price range. They also informed us of what our benefits covered and the difference, if any, before we made our selection. Such professionalism is truly rare these days. On our last visit, our benefits covered the entire prescription, so we did not have to pay for anything but the office visit. Give them a try, you won't be disappointed! read more

This office and practice are the worst scammers and they take advantage of handicapped senior citizens. I made a appoint for my 72 yr old mother, and ON THE MORNING OF the appoint. I get a call from their office asking to see if I could come earlier.. My mother's appoint was for 1:40 pm they wanted to see if I could come in at 11:AM I told them no, the earliest we could possibly do was 12 or 12:30. We still showed up at 12.. While we waited, I asked to see how much was their cheapest frames, the girl said $180. my mother's insurance only cover's $200. plus they wanted to charge my mother an additional $59. for some other exam.. I repeatedly asked the girl if I could see the frames that were $180., she would not show them to me. So I told them my mother could not afford their high prices and we left. When I got home, I saw my mother had a $45. charge on her card. We never signed anything nor did they ever inform us that they would be charging my mother for what??? The AMA policy says a doctor may charge for a missed appointment - or for failing to cancel 24 hours in advance. This was not a NO SHOW.. we showed up to our appointment, in fact we accommodated them by coming earlier as our original appointment was for 1:40 pm. Do not recommend this place, especially for your kids. the people are already come off wrong from the front desk to the doctor but for your kids to feel uncomfortable that's something else. I took my daughter's there recently and I do not understand why they take children appointments if they do not like kids they made it really hard to want to be there, even as a parent trying to make sure your kids health is on the right track.
