Although there are several paint stores that are closer to where I live, I will definitely be going to this Vista location from now on. Ignore the bad reviews (which are mostly old), this place seems to be very customer service oriented. I was greeted right away and the people that helped me were friendly, patient and helpful. I expected it to be packed on the weekend like it is at Home Depot and Lowes but it was pretty quiet and I didn't have to wait long at all. I walked in 5 minutes til closing time and all the gentlemen were extremely helpful assisting us with our paint samples. Even though it was close to closing time, we didn't feel rushed and they weren't pressuring us to hurry up and get what we needed. So we purchase in excess of $4,000-$5000 worth of paint every year from this location. Today I go in and ask to use the restroom. They said NO. They don't have a restroom. I asked "So where do the employees go"? They all look at me dumbfounded. Well I have news for you. As of today I will purchase my paints somewhere else and recommend the painting company's I work with do the same thing. Guess I'll call the corporate office to see if this is standard for all stores. WE were paying customers and as such we should all have a bathroom available to us. Now I have to run somewhere else. They are incredibly rude here. I remodel and build homes for a living and spend over a $1k a month on paint and supplies and yet they didn't even try to earn my business. The manager and the other hispanic guy workint here are incredibly rude!! I understand spanish fluently and they were making sexist and racist comments about me and another female Caucasian customer while we were shopping. Please take your business elsewhere and you can avoid being verbally raped. I will definitely be complaining to corporate...... Vista Paint in San Juan Capistrano is an excellent paint store with great variety! Salespeople are very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable, especially Steven. Steven was an expert in his field. He explained in detail different stains (as I was staining my front door to go with new flooring) and helped me immensely. He added color to a gel stain and I left wood to match. Women stay away! It's been years since I've been treated so rudely.. this was like a throwback to another era! The store was empty and I asked ONE question about a product. I received a very curt answer and started to ask another question. I was INTERRUPTED by this man who said, "What do you want me to do, tell you it will work?" !! I asked him if he was always so rude to customers, to which he replied that I kept asking the same question! This when he had interrupted my second sentence of the entire conversation! Marcia, the Designer Consultant for the store, is great at what she does! I needed a particular wallpaper and she found it for me, without having to search for hours, book by book. She know her inventory and found me prices the next day. When I came in the night before, the staff was very helpful as well. read more

I don't know why the yelp rating is so low. Marsha is a wallpaper and paint specialist. I'm excellent with design but when it comes to paint, not so much. However, Marsha has been a Godsend. She really listens to what your vision is and then does a beautiful job at making it come together. She is so patient and kind. Never making me feel rushed. I just can't say enough good things about her. Please do yourself a giant favor and stop in to see her. She'll take all the guessing and paint nightmares away. It is possible there were issues previously and can't speak about that since I recently moved to San Juan. However, based on my recent experience, I like going to this store to get Natura Benjamin Moore paint---the best paint for people with sensitivity to chemicals in paint; literally this paint has no smell. I am working on a large project and recurrently buy paint from this location. Every single time the guys quickly get my order and the paint is ready in no more than 10 minutes. When I need time to be in my own world deciding on paint colors, the guys give me space and time to think; basically they don't bother me at all, and I love it! I personally don't like going to a store and have the sales people continually checking on me, not until I am ready to talk to them. So far I had a great service, all the guys are respectful and seem a little too serious preparing paint for customers. I definitely will continue going there for paint. Also this particular store carry a large selection of wallpaper samples in catalogs and provide options for window treatment. Not the nicest people. Also their paint desk is incompetent. The guy sold me two buckets of paint that were supposed to be the same color and they were not. So I had a painter charging me 40 bucks an hour who had to to stop and wait for me to go get the correct paint. The guy at Vista look at my paint cans and said oh I made a mistake. I asked him to comp me for the wrong can but all the douche did was give me a contractors discount which didn't cover entire cost. So I had to eat the difference on the wrong can and I had a pay my for painter an extra hundred bucks. read more

I spent many hours looking at Pinterest, and everywhere on the web trying to find some good colors for the exterior of our home. Finally I narrowed it down to a handful of Benjamin Moore colors. I only use Benjamin Moore paint as they have the richest pigments and best quality of paint. When I went in to find the paint chip samples, I was introduced to Marcia who is the color expert there. She quickly found me the samples I was looking for but when I saw how experienced and confident she was with color, I decided to just show Marcia a cell phone photo of our home. She immediately selected a color for me (one I had never heard of and would otherwise never would have chosen). It complemented the brick and had the cool, neutral tone I was looking for. Marcia told me that she had recently suggested it to another person for their exterior and they were very happy with it. It TRANSFORMED our exterior (we also changed out all the exterior lights). My friend visited for the first time recently and immediately commented on our great curb appeal. I had always felt our curb appeal was so bad until now. WOW! I wish I had read the prior review before going here. I was searching for the store for half an hour because it was not visible from the streets (behind other buildings with no signage) and my navigation couldn't give me a clear turn. When I spoke to a lady there, although she tried to be helpful she just kept being worried that they were closing soon. Well, I finally managed to find it, rushed in with 10 minutes to spare before they closed. While waiting there while the guy was helping others, time ticking away he finally approached me and saw my paint cans were Dunn Edwards and blurted out, Dunn Edwards down the street! I said, yes, well I am at this store because I need the paint matched, my contractor has an account here. He said, come back tomorrow morning. I said, no, I don't live here! I drove through traffic to go to a rental and have work done, I've been waiting, I can't come back tomorrow. He was so RUDE and short, and kept saying I can do it tomorrow, nothing I can do for you now and the customers were even shocked. Well, the other stores closed while he continued to be rude and I took my business to Home Depot. I TRY to help smaller stores, but you pay for SERVICE and this is also how you lose customers. By the way, Home Depot greets you and asks if you need help 10 times as you walk in, shop and check out. Keep it up Vista and you'll be closed as quickly as other paint stores in the area. read more
